Visited the Cambridge arms for a Sunday roast on 24th November and couldn't fault anything. The food was top notch (had the roast trio) highly recommend the pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese. The member of staff who dealt with us throughout made us feel very welcomed, not sure of his name but assume he was possibly the manager. Anyway can't recommend highly enough definitely worth trying there Sunday roast 10/10

Had an absolute blast at The Cambridge Arms in Bristol! This place is the epitome of a great pub experience. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a vibrant atmosphere and friendly smiles all around. The beer selection is top-notch, with something for everyone. I tried a local brew that was just perfect – crisp, refreshing, and exactly what I needed. The staff were not only super attentive but also had a great sense of humor, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The pub itself is a cozy mix of traditional charm and modern flair. We found a comfy spot and settled in for a fantastic evening. The food looked incredible, and the aromas wafting from the kitchen were mouth-watering. Next time, I’m definitely diving into their menu! What really stood out was the lively vibe – everyone seemed to be having a great time, and it was contagious. Whether you’re there for a quick pint or a long night with friends, The Cambridge Arms is the place to be. Can’t wait to go back!

The Cambridge Arms is local to us and we had a few friends staying so we went along to eat. My burger had been left under a heating light for way too long so the bun became inedible, the chips were pretty awful too. Others had the scampi which they said was good but they were also underwhelmed by the chips. The odd thing is we didn’t choose anything tricky or fussy, burger and chips and scampi and it was all rather disappointing. The service was excellent and the wine was really good. The chef is in the wrong job!

5 of us went for Sunday dinner at 2pm today. We were disappointed for the following reasons: The service was very slow even though the pub wasn't busy; (50 min wait) The food was not hot and some was sub standard- the gravy was catering style bisto, very tasteless, some of us had roast carrots at the bottom of our pile of food that were burned to charcoal. The plates /portions served up were inconsistent, some of us had veg others didn't, one plate had left over scrapings of cauliflower cheese served on it, one plate looked dirty. Deserts- average and variable High prices, not good value.

Nice pub serving good beers, however sadly the food was really really poor, particuarly so for the price. I had the chicken burger at £14.50 which had a tiny peice of chicken ( i would have guessed 1/4 of a normal chicken breast) which was dry and tough. The wedges were over cooked, but at the same time not at all crispy. It was a shame, as we liked the pub generally... just dont go for the food unless they sort out their kitchen. Like others have said, despite barely eating our food, our table was cleared without asking how our food was.

Family group of 7 for Sunday lunch, given the alcove at far left of pub. Its really nice environment/ambience, and helpful with flexing the booking. Roasts were mixed, my pork belly was good, but chicken was tough/overcooked. Some of my veg had large/tough stems. Service generally good, but chap gave off a bit of 'can't you see I'm very busy' vibe and took two requests for the 'as much gravy as you want' to arrive. If 4 stars = Very Good, would probably give it 3.5 = Good.

Quite possibly the worst pub meal I have ever experienced. Six of us arrived at 1 pm to an almost empty pub and ordered lunch. It took over three quarters of an hour to arrive despite very few other dinners. What did arrive was an abomination! Two of our group had fish and chips, the consensual opinion was that it had been cooked yesterday and then reheated. Dry and tasteless. The burgers were so over cooked it took a pint of beer to wash them down. The "garnish" in one burger included a thick slice of onion with its root still firmly in place. If a chef can't even be bothered to slice his vegetables I would suggest he should stay at home. The staff were completely disinterested in being at work and even less interested in their customers. They gave no explanation of why the food took so long to arrive and didn't, at any point, ask us how the food was. Had we not waited so long, and therefore been extremely hungry, we would have sent the whole lot back. I now regret not having done so. On asking for the bill there was, the now familiar, lack of interest in our thoughts about what we had just been served. I questioned the person accepting my money as to whether he was going to bother to ask. He responded, blankly, asking "how was it"? I described how awful the whole experience had been. Another blank look. No apology, no explanation, no offer of a discount, no nothing. If you are considering going to this pub to eat, don't. The Shakespear or the Port of Call are close by and consistently do much better food. I will not be returning despite this being my "local". Sad, it used to be a very good pub.

Just revisited for Sunday lunch, a year or so since my last visit. It can be hard to put your finger on subtle changes that affect your experience but today's lunch was a slight disappointment. Timing may be everything. We were the first diners today and the beef was overcooked, but then we had the first cuts from the joint, no doubt, (hope there was a joint and not an ambient bag) so maybe a slightly later start would have changed the experience. Some of the vegetables unseasoned, the roast potatoes a bit soggy, not cooked from scratch i would say, no crispiness, possibly pre-cooked. Disappointing after last time but....this is still a very pleasant pub to hang out in, the staff are helpful and friendly, table service for drinks and food, portion sizes generous, unlimited gravy not to be underestimated and all in all a solid place. But maybe run by business people rather than the chef though I haven't checked. £100 for 4, drinks inc.

Avoid if you have breathing difficulties. We were excited to try the pub again since it has recently been taken over. Historically, although a lovely old pub, full of charm and character and tastefully decorated to reflect the age of the pub, it has always had absolutely terrible and overpriced food, plus the childrens parties and sky sports added under the previous management were more than off putting so hearing it had been taken over we were hopeful and excited to try the food again and enjoy the weather. Unfortunately, we didn't even make it to the front door as they had a charcoal bbq going by the corner of the pub near the road and two of our party, having usually very mild asthma, started having breathing difficulties due to the fumes/smoke (apparently even a small amount can trigger asthma which I didn't realise). I feel sorry for the neighbours in this heat as we've been past since at vatious times of day/eve hoping to try it and this seems to be a smoky/smelly daily occurance in the warm weather. Such a shame they couldn't have used a gas bbq instead as the food certainly sounds yummy and it would have been nice to sit outside in this weather. Maybe we'll try it again in the cooler weather...

All 5 stars due to Kelly, a fabulously friendly and chatty publican (and I've met many that aren't) and her welcoming staff. Can't go wrong with Fullers beers, especially ESB and you must try Red Fox if it's on! Went back with friends two nights in a row after walks over the downs, haven't eaten there yet. Must also go back for a quiz evening. Keep up the good work Kelly.

There’s one place everyone brings friends or family who are seeing Bristol for the first time: to marvel at the Clifton Suspension Bridge. It’s an obligatory pilgrimage for visitors, even if the iconic view has been marred by scaffolding for two years now. Most people head to The White Lion, the pub next door at The Avon Gorge Hotel, where Granny will gleefully wait 20 minutes for her Dubonnet and Lemonade before embarking on a half-marathon shuffle around the terrace in search of a free table. And once she sits down, the “view” is a picturesque portrait of bridge maintenance—a modern homage to endless construction. But I’m not here to talk about The White Lion, or the fact that some contractors are playing an absolute blinder stringing out what is presumably the longest piecework project in the South West. I’m here to talk about Goram & Vincent, the restaurant perched above this nonsense, like a smug cousin, overlooking the terrace and hoping to convince you it’s a better place to be. Is it? Well… Pre-dinner drinks in the lounge are delightful. The bar is properly plush, with window seats offering that perfect vista of the bridge—minus men in hard hats (they only seem to work about two hours a day). The cocktails are decent, the service friendly, and you begin to think, “Yes, this is what I came for.” Then you walk through to the restaurant, with its floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the gorge like something out of a tourist board’s fever dream. Almost every table boasts a view that’s spectacular enough to distract you from the fact that, well, the food might take a while. A long while. The menu is promising, a mix of steaks, some fish, and a few intriguing vegetarian options, including a £20 carrot dish that had me wondering if Bugs Bunny had recently taken out a mortgage. The service strikes a lovely balance between warm and efficient—no complaints there. But then… nothing happens for 30 minutes. Nothing but the view, which, to be fair, is lovely, and the decor, which is fine, and the waitress, who looks like she might actually explode from stress. When the food finally does show up, my prawns are nice, my steak less so—overcooked, in fact. It goes back, a new one arrives with apologies, and I can’t help but think this is all a bit too familiar. There’s a core problem here: this venue has everything going for it—stunning views, well-judged service, stylish decor—but in the end, the kitchen lets the side down. Maybe I caught them on a bad night. Or maybe, just maybe, they’ve joined the ranks of the contractors down below, taking their time with the job, knowing there’s no rush because, after all, where else are you going to go?

The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, beautifully and simply decorated, and suited for both large groups and more intimate meals. Chefs and waiting staff were fabulous and chatty, clearly very passionate about what they do despite being rushed off their feet! It is on the pricier side but considering the layout of the courses you can certainly get great value and quality food for your money. The menu is incredibly innovative and delicious. All in all an amazing experience, especially for sharing as a family!
