We booked the bottomless brunch as part of our Xmas shopping trip. Plenty of choice on the menu. Food was delicious, drinks were lovely and the service was superb. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing food and good service. Most of us enjoyed the Christmas set menu. Pre ordering food make it super quick and everyone enjoyed their meal. Thank you very much. Would go away.

We had a great breakfast with a big group of friends here at the weekend. The brioche bun deal was good value, everything was fresh and tasty. Staff were lovely.

No complaints about the food but I really don't like businesses that add a service charge. In the small print it's voluntary but I was not asked, it had automatically been added. I did pay it but I'm unlikely to return because of it.

In Bristol for Christmas shopping with my daughters and sister. Went to The Coal Kitchen for lunch. A warm and welcoming reception from the staff. Seated quickly. A lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food was freshly prepared and well worth the wait - wait was about average time for a Saturday 5 weeks before Christmas. Food was superb and very good quality. My sister and I savoured the new festive cocktails - WOW - very creative, presentation was very eye-catching and were very different to what is normally on offer. We loved them all but the best was the Snow Globe. Thank you Coal Kitchen we will return.

Came for early dinner before a gig. Had 3 courses from the set menu for £15.95. Chicken tacos and beef koftas to start, burger and linguine for main and ice cream desert. All we’re really good portion size, really tasty and great value. With 2 drinks and student discount it was just over £50 including service - fantastic value

Nice place but the food was well below what you would expect. The steak was tough and no steak knife offered. The steak on the steak sandwich was equally tough but unusually was not sliced, so to get your mouth around crisply ciabatta bread and a generously thick tough steak is just too much to handle! My son had the chicken and chorizo when was very nice. We also saw a chef take a chip from one of our plates on he pass….not the part of the meal he should have checked was ok unfortunately. Also nice that they are following the trend of adding a gratuity on the bill to save you the trouble of working out whether it was deserved or not.

Really nice breakfast experience. Staff very friendly. Food prepared beautifully. We have had a number of excellent dinners there as well.

This restaurant/bar gets a 1 star from me. This rating doesn’t reflect the food because I haven’t actually been inside of the restaurant to try the food. However, upon walking past the restaurant to browse the menu in the window there appeared to be two small mice running around nibbling on food crumbs underneath the tables. Along with this, there also appeared to be small mouse droppings on the floor. This occurrence was approximately 10.30pm when the restaurant was quiet. I definitely won’t be visiting this restaurant anytime soon.

Myself and my partner heard about this restaurant through mutual friends - we had heard a lot of good things, but unfortunately our experience didn't meet the expectation.Overall the food and drinks were very nice, staff were very friendly. The bad things; 1.We were asked by the staff to pick our own table - when chosen we were told that the table was not ready and had to be cleaned. We picked the next available table and found it was also in need of a thorough clean!!! Half way through our meal, I noticed a big hair physically ingrained into the table edge. (Pictured below)2. The staff are very nice, but we feel that pressuring your customers to pay a 10% service charge by including it on the bill without prior notice and putting the emphasis on the customer to reject the "optional" charge is disrespectful.As a customer it's my decision on how much I would like to tip the servers. And by forcing it into the bill as an "optional" charge makes me feel uncomfortable to return in the future.Just to add, my partner order medium rare steaks - but the steaks we received we extremely rare and bloody. In summary, our experience was ruined by the pitfalls details above. I didn't want to raise these issues on the day, as it was our 1st anniversary.Jake and Sara

Whilst we were hunting for a place to have our breakfast we had walked by several places and by the time we ventured into Cabot Circus we weren’t too sure whether we’d end up finding anywhere outside of coffee shops, we were pleasantly surprised.The Coal Grill was a fantastic choice with extremely good value for money and generous portions both for food and drink which was very good. With a good selection on their breakfast menu and my partner really after some pancakes we were in luck! I personally went for The Big Breakfast of which was plenty for me whilst my girlfriend had the American Style Pancakes of which I can vouch for and say these were also incredible both with presentation and taste. Whilst we both had the Pineapple Juice and I also had a Latte which wasn’t my original order however this was very good.With regards to service, I can honestly not fault this in the slightest even with a mistake on my hot drink order with our server Tamara who I want to really give some praise to as it was clear she was shorthanded whether or not it was normal to be reasonably busy in the morning there was alot for a single waitress to manage and she certainly worked for her money that morning and I can’t criticise the mistake on the coffee order whilst managing a lot at the same time.The restaurant itself had a very nice setting and ample seating which also goes outside, whether this is usable during the morning I am unsure.Most certainly highly recommend for both their value for money and quality of food, safe to say we will be returning and actually did for our evening meal!
