What a gem we have only discovered after 6 years in the area. Just popped in while passing by and so glad that we did. Have to say that the Special today of King prawn linguine was as good if not better than most Italian restaurants we have tried in Torbay. Service was first class wines are reasonably priced and the ambience is spot on. We will be back very soon and often.

I cannot praise the staff enough- I have never met such a friendly bunch who really took a pride in their job. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so quick and efficient. Both my husband and I opted for the carvery as it looked so good as we walked past it. It was, hands down, the best carvery we have had, the food was so fresh with a wide choice of veggies. We will definitely be back!

The best carvery I've ever had. Could not fault it in any way. All looked and tasted amazing. Well done to all concerned 👍 We arrived without booking and were a bit early as carvery's started at 6. We were made most welcome to wait at the table and just have a drink. Was well worth waiting for. Great friendly atmosphere

Food was delicious, staff were attentive and polite however the manager was shouting at the staff, clicking fingers and being rude. We saw one member of staff cry and it got to the point we had to mention it to another to say how rude he was. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from a man who thinks he is superior to others. Needs to get a life. Considering the sign on the side of the bar.. I think he needs to practice what he preaches.

Sunday carvery very disappointing -service poor ( children who were untrained and sullen) ...vegetables watery, no seasoning and cauliflower cheese dreadful...made with mozzarella!!! Amounts not an issue it was the taste - tasteless

Not impressed. Waited a while for someone to take our drinks order. Had to ask if we could order the food. Despite telling 2 members of staff we wanted the £15 two course meal offer, we still got overcharged by £27.00 !!! My husband mentioned outside the bill seemed high for what we had, especially as I only had a lime and soda, so I checked it and we had been grossly overcharged. We definitely won't be going back.

I was surprised not to get the 15% discount for over 55’s, apparently you need to say you want it when you order, there is no mention of it when you do order, so I think it should be made clear on the menu that you need to ask for it when you place your order, so people please be aware of this

The Ten Tors is one of the favourite pubs of all our family . The grandchildren love it as they are warmly welcomed and they love the food . All the staff are always so welcoming and helpful and the service is brilliant. The changing daily specials menu is so good and changes regularly with delicious choices Some very difficult decisions to make there! We look forward to visiting again very soon

As a regular I would like to say that the roasts are fab! But a recent visit sat at the front terrace - some general housekeeping standards are slipping. Wooden Chairs and tables are dilapidated, rubbish & cigarettes butts around, toilets bins were overflowing. Just a bit of investment, attention to detail would go a long way to improve :)

This is a perfect example of how a pub/ restaurant should be run. Visited on a whim, while staying near by, wanted something to eat and a mid week carvery sounded worth a try. £15 for a carvery and desert (yes we are over 55!) Bonus. All the staff were attentive and professional throughout. Usually, a mid week carvery can be a bit of a gamble - dried up meat, lack of choice of veggies etc. This was nothing like that. Choice of 3 large, fresh joints ( Gammon, Turkey, Beef) and no half portions, thick cuts of each meat. Plenty of choice with veggies too. All hot, all fresh including all the usuals plus a few extra, roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage and a loverly leeks with cheese. Hands down, the best mid week carvery we have ever had and certainly one of the best carveries ever. The whole team were a credit to themselves. (Kitchen as well as front of house) Friendly, helpful, attentive, not just us but to everyone else, even as it got busier. Based on our experience, I can’t recommend The Ten Tors highly enough.

Normally give a good review to Ten Tors inn,BUT NOT TODAY! We had a family of 8 all having adult Sunday carvery.The staff where all unsmiling youngster's .The food had an average quality but that down to the chef. My child decide to have his meat on his plate first then go back for his vegetables.He was refused access to the vegetable twice ,we complained at the time and asked the question WHY are still waiting for an answer ???? It left us in a position of paying full price for half a meal . We where a party of 8 .We waited and waited and waited for the ice cream and pudding menu .That never arrived the staff could not be bothered to give us a good dinning experience so I have 2 Questions 1.why can you not have your meat first then go up for vegetable noting that the customer will be paying . 2,Do you allow the eating of puddings and ice cream on your premises Please give me an answer it was not for the fact that the staff where rushed off there feet as the staff a lot of there time talking and avoiding our table.

The staff was very friendly and helpful from the minute we arrived 3 of us had carvery and sweet (over 55) which was amazing and the 1 had the lasagne which she really enjoyed atmosphere was lovely definitely come again

Lovely selection of vegetables. I found the beef dry and overcooked for my liking, but I guess most people like it that way. Very quick service and staff attentive. The staff all very friendly and polite, would be nice if Chef carving smiled and actually spoke!

Absolutely amazing experience! We came on holiday and visited Ten Tors Inn twice for dinner, first time we took our puppy and second time they squeezed us in last minute. Fantastic customer service from start to finish, the staff are so friendly, polite and were genuinely caring towards us. Lovely atmosphere and amazing food. We celebrated my daughters 30th birthday here last night and i couldn't be happier with the service. We ordered food a bit later than expected but the staff especially Sam and Luke managed to sort it all out so we could all sit down together to eat, the conservatory part is a excellent place for a private gathering. The food was perfect the prices was great and the staff are amazing but Sam and Luke get 10 out of 10 from us for there service. Great place to go and will definitely use again

Food was average at best for the price. Turkey on carvery was like sawdust, the carver could hardly carve it. Gravy was tasteless. Service was ok. Took a lifetime to take our drinks order, and everything just seemed a bit chaotic. We didn’t get offered desserts or offered any more drinks which meant we had to go up to the bar several times. We were recommended to the Ten Tors but just can’t seem to figure out why

My wife and little girl have just got back to our holiday home after having a carvery at the ten tors Inn . The service was exceptional never felt like anything was to much we were quickly seated and within a few minutes our drink order was taken Drinks arrived promptly and our food order was taken we all had the carvery 2 adults and 1 child our daughter spilled her apple juice and if was replaced which was a lovely touch Now the main event the carvery a choice of 5 meats lamb beef pork turkey or gammon or a mixture ( vegetarian option was available ) I had lamb and pork the lamb was excellent the pork if I was being hyper critical was a touch dry but with gravy it didn't matter a bit Vegetables wow what a choice I had cauliflower cheese green beens carrots red cabbage parsnips I would have tried more but ran out of space Yorkshire puddings were decent roast potatoes were good lovely flavour My wife and daughter had turkey both loved it j tried it and found it a touch dry however under heat lamps its always a possibility the flavour was spot on though All in all a very pleasant satisfying meal highly recommended and last but not least service was spot on Thankyou I will be coming back

Me & my family went there for a carvery last weekend. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. The staff were very attentive in making sure our table was happy and that we had everything we needed. Luke the manager was very welcoming and always has a great rapport with his team. The vibe was very good there we look forward to returning.

This pub has everything a great atmosphere, good pub grub and great staff. It’s a place where families can enjoy celebrations and meeting up with friends for great afternoon or evening dining. I had my 50th birthday here, nothing was too much trouble for Luke the general manager and his team. Luke is a special guy and so good as his job, his attention to detail, understanding your needs of what the client would like from room set ups to special requests. The staff are amazing for a young team, they work hard and look after you from the moment you arrive, clearly this starts at the top with Luke and the energy he brings to the tors to keep everyone motivated with his charismatic personality. I would recommend this pub again and again for an all round venue to have fun and relax. Also situated near to the dual carriageway for an easy meeting place and lots of parking. Well done to Luke and the team keep up the good work

Wonderful, delicious meal. Great, friendly and attentive staff who were keeping the carvery well stocked and also clean - so many places just let their carvery bar get so messy. There was a power outage whilst we were there (not the restaurant's fault) but the staff were calm and efficient, meeting everyone's needs and we enjoyed a delicious and special mother's day meal regardless. We will definitely be coming back!

I can only say that I’ve never ever had such a good carvery , I’m an amazing cook & couldn’t have done any better myself ! Seriously good superb veg selection cooked to perfection with so much flavour beautifully presented . There’s was a choice of 4 meats including lamb , which I never see at any carvery ! Omg don’t get me started on the roast potatoes ! I was a complete & utter pig . Eyes bigger than the belly 💯 . My only criticism & it really is nit picky on my part was stuffing balls . Hate them unless there are made with sausage meat & stuffing . 🤷‍♀️ we rocked up about 4pm no booking , it was extremely busy but still seated us & within 10 mins we was helping ourselves . There was a guy called Luke who was fabulous ,attentive welcoming & friendly made us feel like we was regular locals which I love . To be fair all the staff deserves praise as they was all happy & friendly even in that hectic environment . I will de definitely be a regular from now on . Ten tors you have a fabulous team 10/10 . Was my first visit to Ten tors as it’s 28 miles from me . But it 💯 won’t be my last see you next Sunday Luke 😉 from your new regulars well done to all 👍wish I could post a photo but I was too ashamed of the size of meal I had . First time trying the Ten Tors for a carvery and honestly it was AMAZING! The staff were very attentive and although it was incredibly busy no wait at the carvery! Absolutely spot on and will definitely be back!!

Midweek carvery. First timers. Faultless food and service. Nearest we've had to a home prepared Sunday Roast. Three joints of meat from local farm. Everything cooked perfectly. Generous choice of vegetables including gluten free cauliflower cheese and braised leeks in cheese. Resorted to taking crumble dessert home (they offered, we didn't ask) as the carvery was more than sufficient. Advised to book ahead, even Midweek. We got last table on a walkim-in at 6pm on a Tuesday night!

We have recently moved locally and we have really enjoyed a few carvery meals over the last few weeks. What a lovely meal! Went for a Sunday carvery and it was enjoyed by all. All of the food was lovely, fresh and delicious. A lovely extra touch was that my 2 year old decided he wanted his "normal lunch" and they made him a little plate of his usual things (tomato, cucumber, cheese, ham) and didn't change any extra. We recently visited for Sunday lunch. The food from the carvery was lovely. I had the strangest hunters chicken Ive ever had. It was deep fried in batter. With the sauce, bacon and cheese all within the batter. Always been grilled then the bbq sauce poured over it. Hasten to say won’t be having again. Sunday roast most likely will have though.

First time of visiting The Ten Tors today for lunch with my daughter. From the moment we entered we were made to feel welcome. The staff throughout our visit were friendly, professional and at times funny. Customer service was excellent. Even when we decided to move table and eat outside we were made to feel it was no trouble at all. I had scallops from the specials board, they were perfectly cooked with delicious potatoes and a lovely salad. A superb plate of food. My daughter, who is Gluten intolerant, was given her own menu with lots of choice. Much better than most places. She had the hunter’s chicken which she thoroughly enjoyed. The whole experience was a joy. I can’t recommend this place enough.

We arrived to our booking a little early, but the staff was able to seat our family group of 10 with no issues on a busy Friday evening.The food was delicious, fresh, and homemade. I asked for extra salad with my lasagna and they gave tons and the lasagne was super good.The best part of our visit was definitely the service though. The quality really shines with the service we got from all members of staff. They seemed to truly care.Highly recommended!

Carvery was lovely - great choice of meats and they were all so tender. Lots of choice of sides and veg (brocolli was too hard for me) but rest was amazing. Lovely cosy pub with a good atmosphere and a park in the garden perfect for little ones. Great prices, and our waitress Abi was so friendly and welcoming. Lovely cosy pub with delicious food and happy staff. We didnt have the carvery but there looked like there was plenty of choice so we will be back to try it one day.The meals we had were perfect and just the right amount. We visit the ten tors often and here are a few reasons why. Firstly there are perfect facilities for us as a family. Parking. Outdoor space and pram access. From the moment we arrive were greatly warmly and remembered. Which is always lovely as they have alot of custom. The waitresses are kind and helpful from the off. Food is always to what we want and expect a large selection of drinks. Lots of gins to try!!!A special thank you to the manager Luke. He's always on the ball and greeting and making sure that everyone is happy and having a good time. He's always helped us if our little ones not so happy and nothing is too much of a problem. The staff at the ten tors make our visits so much more enjoyable and we will definitely be back again

We have visited many times on Sunday for the carvery and always been extremely satisfied. However, on Friday evening we were surprised to find that there was also a chalk board listing Specials all of which were fish or seafood. We were recommended by Hermione to have the scallops. The starter of 4 enormous king scallops was fabulous in every way. Beautifully seared and served with the tastiest sauté potatoes I have ever eaten. My main was salmon and king prawn pasta bake and my husband enjoyed a fillet of sea bass in a delicious creamy sauce with crispy kale. Outstanding quality and imaginative cooking. We were very impressed with Hermione and Luke for the attentive service and for making us feel welcome. Thank you and well done guys. We will certainly visit again on Fridays

Yet again such a wonderful place for Sunday lunch. I take my girls here regularly and the staff are all fabulous- they know us by name now and always make us feel so welcome. The carvery is superb- best in Devon. Abi, our server, is so warm and fresh with my little girls. Luke and Sam are amazing at making everything run like clockwork. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

I have very rarely been defeated before but today I was. My husband and I both had the two course special deal. Just managed the carvery, although we only take as much as we know we can eat. A lovely array of veg and lamb on the menu which is rare. We expected the dessert to be small which it wasn't. I couldn't manage to eat it all, only because I was too full.The food and the staff were lovely as was the price. Just for fun my husband and I give our food marks out of ten when we eat out and we are quite tough. Today for food, staff and price we gave 9.5 out of ten. The best mark so far.Thanks everyone.Now off to sleep it off.

I don’t usually do reviews but after this weekend I knew I had too. What can I say every single time I visit Luke and his team I am never disappointed. They have always looked after me. This weekend was no exception they kindly catered for myself and twenty-five of my friends, with ease. None of the lads that ate were disappointed! Great food and service! Special mentions to Sonia, Jessie and all the kitchen staff for looking after us all and Rob for looking me Sunday! If you haven’t tried the carvery please do! I recommend it!

We were served by Hermione, a truly magical waitress, who tended our every need. The food was excellent eating off of the specials and a la cart menu on this occassion, however the daily carvery is also really well cooked, hot and tended. Really disappointed this time around we haven't been in for dinner for a while used to love the food here but we popped in for our dinner today and I ordered pan fried sea bass with roast kale roast new potatoes white wine sauce, well it sounds beautiful but it was awful to the point of going home feeling sick from how burnt the kale was!! They tried to rectify by new kale coming out to late I'd finished the small bit of bass could not eat the 6 large new potatoes as to dry. Waitress was so lovely saying she felt bad but that's how they serve it!! It was was like eating Ash out of an Ash tray!! Felt so poorly I left without my drink while my husband paid the bill.

We came here by chance and what a good chance it was . Myself and my husband had the carvery which was amazing you could taste each vegetable it was better than expected. I visited today with my family and we had a wonderful meal. All of staff are friendly, polite and very attentive. My daughter has autism and our waitress Hermione (sorry if that’s an incorrect spelling) was absolutely brilliant when she wanted to know the various drinks on offer including every flavour of j20 available. It was kind of Hermione to be so patient with her and great that she then chose herself. The food was all very fresh and there is an incredible selection of vegetables to choose from. It’s very hard to find a restaurant like this that offers high quality food with service to match. Having found this beautiful pub and restaurant we wouldn’t want to go anywhere else, no one does carvery like Ten Tors.

Impeccable service with a smile. Totally dog friendly. Amazing food, best scallops with their roes attached I have had. I love scallop roes and was pleasantly surprised that they had not been discarded, as happens in most places. A totally delicious lunch out.

A really well run establishment, well organised staff and management, The carvery is simply the best I have ever had bar none ! You willnot beat this for value for money.

Having taken a little family trip to the area we passed this pub a couple of times going to and from our accommodation. We decided to stop in on the way back one evening and were not disappointed!Firstly the staff we’re exceptionally (and I think genuinely) pleasant, polite and attentive! We have found this to be a rarity in recent times and often this is a reflection of the work environment / atmosphere / boss! So management must be doing something right! When we arrived there were drinkers at the bar. Again - a novelty, for us anyway, the after work drinkers club at our local pubs have dwindled out and the sense of community has been lost! Really lovely to see and it created a lovely atmosphere too! I ran ahead and checked we could bring in our dog, the gentleman behind the bar warmly advised we could and showed me the areas in which we were allowed to sit! There were plenty to chose from! Once in I took the exuberant toddler out to the garden for a play on the climbing frame. It’s certainly not the most elaborate set up I’ve ever seen, but it looks fairly new and in really good condition. My som enjoyed being a pirate whilst I chased after him being the baddy! We ordered food at the bar where I was jokingly warned that I had ordered too much food. I took this with a pinch of salt as to be quite honest we’re not exactly slimline - and we’re big eaters…. However - when the food arrived our eyes nearly fell out of our head! So much food! I had the burger which was cooked perfectly and a decent sized meal. It came with chips and a salad garnish. The burger patty itself was thick and tasty, without being greasy! My son had chicken nuggets and chips - and they were the type of nuggets that are actual chunks of chicken in batter. In non uniform unprocessed shapes! really tasty and a pleasant surprise at the price too! he almost ate the lot! My partner had the hunters chicken and let me tell you dear reader, he is a VERY fussy eater… after we had left he confided in me that this was the best hunters chicken he had ever had. He’s the son of two publicans and grew up in pubs, he’s also a massive foody. This really is a huge compliment. We also shared a side of dirty fries (mushroom and Stilton) and to be honest, we shouldn’t have done. They were so good but we really struggled to eat them! All of this was reasonably priced and good quality. If we revisit the area we will be back again for sure - we’ll also recommend The Ten Tors to anyone who mentions they’re passing that way!

Had lunch here with friends who arrived just before us. When we entered we were greeted immediately by staff who took our name informed us that our friends had arrived and he showed us to a lovely large table beside the open window. Drink then food was ordered off their Carvery menu which we decided on. When we were invited up to obtain our Carvery we had a choice of three lovely well cooked meats and the huge choice of cooked vegetables to add. This was really great and tasty. Afterwards we chose apple and cineman crumble with custard and a lovely cheesecake with cream. All was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. The staff delivering our drink checking with us that everything was as we liked it etc were really good, helpful and we felt that they were trying very hard to ensure all was as we wanted. It was, thanks to all the staff there.

Hope these people succeed where others have failed. Enjoyed a lovely meal here we thought the service was very good and we were made to feel welcome. My sweet chilli chicken salad was lovely. All of us commented on the quality of the food.

I recently started attending Ten Tors with a young adult I support with special needs.I'd like to thank all staff for going above and beyond on each visit.allowing us to order from both the main menu and kids menu as the adult can't eat a full adult meal (other places we have visited before have insisted we order from the adult menu).we recently attended on her Birthday and I did thank you at the time but would like to thank you again for placing candles in her dessert and gathering your staff to come to our table and sing Happy Birthday to the young lady it really made her evening.Your team are absolutely fantastic you have made us feel very welcome on each of our visits and we look forwards to visiting again.

wow came in yesterday afternoon for a family meal what an amazing place we chose. food was exceptional and the staff went above and beyond for my children’s needs definitely a hidden gem will be back soon for that apple crumble as it was our fave all round many thanks

Went for a carvery today as a family of 7 including twins 20 months. The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The chap incharge was fabulous from greeting us at the door to dealing with a mishap of one of our boys dropping his dinner as he got to the table! All was cleared up quickly and another meal provided free of charge. We have 2 in our party with dairy allergy and the carver and staff were great helping us with what not to eat on the carvery and providing dairy free gravey. The veg isn't coated in butter which gives us a better choice than most places. A lovely time was had by all including a play in the play park before we left. Well reccomneded.

Just stopped here for lunch. Really pleasant staff. Food was amazing and plentiful. Steak and onion baguette with salad and chips. It was delicious.

5 of us visited this week - 2 had the Carvery which looked very nice. I had the steak and Ale pie and have to say it was amazing and probably one of the best pies I’ve ever had. It came with a generous portion of chips and peas. I would definitely recommend it! The staff were very helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxed. Can’t wait to go back to eat there again

Visited last Sunday with my two fussy kids and husband, the ten tors was more than accommodating. Children opted for the mini fish and chips and Hubble and I opted for the carvery. Choice of 3 meats which was AMAZING, even lamb! This paired with 5 star service made the ideal Sunday lunch. Special thanks to the friendly dark haired waitress that served us. We will be returning for sure :)

Amazing food, spotlessly clean, most welcoming & friendly staffing team! Very well run! Welcome dogs, but have restaurant part where they don’t go. Really nice layout too. Best pub We’ve been to in ages!

i went for a carvary on sunday with my husband and 3 kids one of which had the chicken nuggets all i can say was there was nothing left on the plate . i went for the beef and gammon it was delicious safe to say will definitely be returning. staff well they went above and beyond for my little girl we left a very full happy family thank you so much will definitely be coming back

Visited for some lunch with friends on Sunday 17th October, we all ordered a carvery which had plenty of choice and the turkey and beef were delightful!!Even though the restaurant was full all staff were well organised and very friendly and helpful , was a very pleasant atmosphere. The manager was extremely kind and friendly and made sure all customers were okay at all times which is what made it 10 times better. Will 100% be visiting again

Myself and two children with partners went to the Ten tours on Sunday pm. We were made to fill welcome and our dog was given water and treats. The food and service was excellent

Sorry I appreciate that it's carvery pub and that the other menu is extra to the pub. But you still expect that the food would be good. But no. Steak pie was OK...chicken and ham pie OK chips OK and I mean OK as they were dry and warm not hot but warm and that includes the peas ..only good going for this pub is they have very friendly and helpful staff. Only saying as I find..

Always visit this pub when visiting my mum. It’s excellent. Luke and his team really have turned this pub/restaurant around and turned it back into the fabulous place it used to be. Service fantastic, menu choice plentiful, restaurants and bar spotlessly clean and the daily carvery is not only fresh and plentiful but cooked to perfection. We are overjoyed the village pub is back to its best!

Birthday lunch for 10 people. An efficient pub as they realised that they accepted our booking of 10 in error and they had to make adjustments to their seating to accommodate us rather than cancelling our booking. There was a bit of a wait for the food to arrive. In general, the food was pleasant enough.

Best carvery I’ve ever had!! Wonderful place, the staff are excellent and so hard working. Even with the place packed they were attentive and cheery. My kids play out in the play park which is a brilliant distraction while they wait for their food. Just remember to book as it’s so popular!

We had a fantastic family meal here today. The food is delicious and great value for money and the service was excellent. There's a lovely little park for children. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic food, atmosphere and setting. The staff were great and very accommodating. Deffo will be coming again - thank you for a lovely meal.

Where to start!?!Firstly the food was mostly nice - well the bit they got right!!!I specifically asked for potatoes (which they had as part of the specials menu so I know they had them!) instead of chips (I am on a diet and didn't want to stray with fried food) - I got chips!!! Then when I asked for potatoes again the girl eventually brought me roast potatoes! Probably done in more oil/fat than the bloody chips!!!My partner ordered onion rings as a side and they were disgustingly oily (absolutely soaked in oil!) And had a really funny taste to them!We were waiting nearly an hour for our food to be delivered and then it was wrong! Not even an apology!!! After finishing our meal there was no offer of dessert or coffees either!We will NOT be going here again! Very disappointed and unhappy!

Visited on a very busy Sunday lunch.It was great to see the place so busy, although the staff didn’t appear to be overrun, it was extremely well organised.The carvery itself was delicious. All piping hot, fresh vegetables. Some of the meat was a bit over cooked but still tasted delicious. Felt sorry for the poor chap trying to carve it mainly.The service was excellent, made to feel extremely welcome, almost like we visit the place daily and like they already knew us which was so lovely. Will be returning soon.

Family of 15 and not a single person enjoyed their meal. Most of us had the carvery, and the beef was completely inedible. Alternative meat was offered, however, the blandness of the rest of the food couldn’t rectify it either, in particular the cauliflower cheese (with no cheese) and tasteless gravy. Extremely poor quality with frozen veg and Yorkshire puddings.Service was also poor. Safe to say, this was my first and certainly my last visit.
