I will give this place five stars. We were there as a family and have been there many times. The view is spectacular the also provided food specifically for one person in our group who has the coeliac disorder and we were ahead of the normal kitchen timing but they prepared our choices and made us feel very welcome. My original choice was scampi and an apologetic manager came to say there was none so I stopped to cod and chips and was charged the same price. I must say my fish seemed extra tasty and was a decent size. Our group all enjoyed our meals. We will be returning soon, if that I have no doubt!

Such a shame but over the years it's got worse. Service was haphazard. Food was poor and not worth the money. Fish & chips was a special but when it actually came it looked like a couple of bits of fish from the frozen section of a Supermarket. Sadly I would not recommend..

We had booked to have a meal for a birthday and on the phone when booking the staff informed us that menued food would be available as well as carvery. However we were then told on the day once we had arrived that it was only carvery they had on that day. We were waiting for awhile at our table before the staff took our drinks order and most of the drinks we ordered they did not have despite it being in their menu. Despite it being table service we had to return to the bar several times to order drinks, with the staff seemingly clueless how to make simple drinks. The Carvery food was cold, with the chicken being poor quality and mushy. When we got to ordering desserts, half the order for desserts they were also incapable of fulfilling due to not having any. We then asked to make a complaint to management to be met with what quite frankly was the worst service I have ever received. The manager made no attempt at reconciling the issue and had said that nothing could be done as we had ate the food. All of our plates had been left with most of the carvery items still on the plates due to poor quality. The manager did nothing to compensate the abysmal service and quality we had recieved. Overall poor service, poor management, poor quality. If you are thinking about coming to Mount Unpleasant, please avoid.

We have used the Mount Pleasant Inn for a number of years, but recently the standard has dramatically dropped. The food selection is very sporadic. Often dishes are "unavailable" the physical menus themselves are very tatty, what you would expect from a "greasy Joe” roadside take away. The presentation of the food is on plates that seem to have come from a jumble sale. The selection of drinks is also very poor, and the worst of all the staff have a "tough luck" attitude. Sadly we will not be going to the Mount Pleasant anymore; we have now found a much better venue.

To top off the meal we both had a Hot chocolate woth fresh cream & marshmallows. That truly hit the nail on the head🥰 Excellent service all round, what a great evening. Three of us went for Sunday carvery and spent £110.00 3 main courses, drinks, bottle of wine, desserts and coffee. The service was terrible, there wasn't any supervision of the restaurant staff, which meant we were ignored most of the time and had to get their attention or go to the bar ourselves. The food wasn't great and the gravy was like water. Ordered coffee and brandy's, coffee came 10 minutes later. I wouldn't return again

If I could give zero I would. I don't often write reviews, but I felt it was imperative after this horrendous experience. We have been coming to The Mount Pleasant for over 15 years for family occasions, including our annual pre-Christmas celebration. I am left saddened and disappointed by what can only be described as the worst dining experience I have ever had. Service and staff: The waitresses were inattentive with little communication skills. We were not informed they had altered the ordering process for drinks and that we needed to request them at the bar. Upon finishing our main courses and having our table cleared, we were not informed about desserts despite two of us ordering from the Christmas menu where desserts and coffee are included. It was 40 minutes before we had dessert menus dumped on the table, and even then, with absolutely no communication as to the fact desserts were to be ordered at the bar too. The supervisor was unprofessional and rude, to the point we preferred to leave the ‘restaurant’, than have the dessert and coffee that was included. There was no manager on site, even though it was a Saturday with Christmas dinner parties. Food: The starters were nice and prompt, but it was downhill after that. They rushed out the mains, although not everyone had finished their starters. The burger turned up cold and the other mains were lukewarm at best. Atmosphere: Firstly, the lights were turned off for a few minutes during our starters (with two children under 4) so they could serve Christmas pudding to another table, however, there was no warning given. Secondly, the Christmas music was turned off halfway through the main courses. If you want a disappointing experience with no atmosphere and to be ignored by waitressing staff and belittled by a supervisor, this is the place to come.

We have been attending The Mount for our family Christmas dinner for 15 years (minus Covid) as it is down the road for our Grandmother who is not very mobile. Today the service was exceptionally poor. We had to attend the bar for all our drinks, they refused table service despite the restaurant being full and us having pre ordered all our food. They did not check on how our food was until we had finished the meal. The mains were all tepid or cold. We asked for one very cold burger to be heated up. It was clearly just microwaved as the bread returned very dried out and the burger was still warm at best. Furthermore, 40 minutes after we had finished our mains, we had 5 dessert menus dumped on the table with no word informing us that dessert was also to be ordered at the bar. When we complained the staff were shocked that we asked for money off the bill at the end and spoke rudely to us. Extremely disappointed and despite the view being nice there seems to be a complete lack of care in the service and the food nowadays. Don’t bother coming.

Been here a few times when here on holiday, the past I've enjoyed but today we had the carvery and I have to say it was terrible. My friends beef was still dripping with blood, roast potatoes were more like boiled! Not roasted at all. Veg very hard. I had beef and gammon, gammon was fatty and the beef was too, very hard to cut. Not enough veg choices either. Gravy was like water, far too runny! It was all edible but the roasts were perfect before, why change what isn't broken? My children had meals from the menu and they looked perfect. Would eat here again but definitely not a carvery. Change it back I say!

This pub is a must visit if you’re in this area. From the front it is deceptive as it looks like any other period building of that type - but that hides the secret behind. To the rear the land steeply drops away and you realise that the pub is perched on a cliff top. This gives stunning views right across the Exe estuary and along the south Devon coast. The restaurant area takes full advantage of this with large picture windows where you can drink - and drink in - the view. We had an evening meal which came quickly and was good in quality. You pay a little more which is typical of venues at seaside resorts but it wasn’t commercial or touristy in feel. The staff were friendly too and made a point of allowing us to order extra drinks and stay, even thought they were closing a little earlier than usual to celebrate a long serving member of staff’s leaving. A place we will definitely use again.

Nice and friendly staff making it a Pleasant place to go. Be aware the menu is now very much different from my original review.

Lovely staff & service. Food good, but could do with a bit more seasoning. Also have good knowledge for food intolerance gluten 😋

Visited the Mount Pleasant Inn just after 4.30pm this afternoon. The service was very good and the lady who served me was polite & helpful. The beer was excellent and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.🍻🤔🍺🍺👍

I was needing to meet a friend in this location, and I wanted a pub that did good food and had parking and this fitted the bill. I was impressed with the lovely views from the windows . The staff are friendly and accommodating as we got there prior to food being served and drinks were served immediately. I had grilled steak in a ciabatta with chips and a salad garnish. I really enjoyed it. The steak melted in your mouth. My friend had the soup which looked delicious and was delicious. It was served with two types of bread rolls and with three pats of butter. Usually at other places I have to ask for extra butter, but this was sufficient. Very reasonably priced. Would come again and will as I’m in the area once a week

Stopped off for a drink after walking the local woodland. Lovely, friendly staff, great location right on the river, can imagine it would be lovely on a warm summer evening. The pub itself was lovely. Ended up having a simple brie and cheese baguette, but it was lovely served with a side salad and crisps. Would highly recommend a visit 😊 Can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay but if the pub itself is anything to go by I wouldn't hesitate to book a room.
