The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Had food tonight and the standard of food was generally very good but the whole experience was let down massively by the lack of service. They bought the wrong drinks, didn't check on the table, we had to leave the table and find a waitress to ask if we could have a dessert, but the worst part was they were taking all of the Xmas decorations down in the room whilst we were eating, such a shane as the food was very nice, it felt as if the staff didn't really want us there.

Great pub with lovely atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious and the fish specials are superb. My go to pub in Beaminster!

Good local pub with a lovely atmosphere. Reasonable but not the best selection of draught pints. I didn't have food so I can't comment on this. I would recommend visiting for a pint, and would recommend to a friend.

Former employee posting: Do not give this company your custom. Employers have refused to pay owed tips and outstanding holiday pay to all staff despite consistent reminders, and are now withholding tips and threatening employees. Tips have not been received by staff since January this year. This was a hard working group of employees who do not deserve to be treated this way. For a pub with expensive pricing the profit is not seen by those doing the hard work.

Everything was great but not cheap :) On the menu it says portions are big but in reality they are not

Had the “Farmyard feast” 3 meat roast on Sunday with a side of Cauliflower cheese which was all delicious. The pub is a beautiful setting, had a nice cocktail deal on offer and genuinely the most friendly hospitable floor staff serving us. I’d throughly recommend and will definitely return in future!

Old pub in the village. Perhaps the only place where you can eat. Delicious food, good selection of local ales.

If you like swimming in everyone else's urine when you do go to the toilet this is the place for you! A village pub that has been killed by a real lack of due care. Place is disgustingly filthy with sticky floors and god knows what smells. Always seems to be an attitude on the lady barmaid when she is forced to do some work and not lie on the sofa. Owners of the establishment should be really ashamed. An outsider to the village that has spent many nights in the drax it really is a shame to see it killed by incompetence and I recommend the owners should get a mop out once in a while

Well, what can I say, the dreamiest pub with the most exceptional food(thank you Charlie and Co!). The staff are lovely and hannah is a diamond, nothing is a problem. By far the best pub around and they should all be so proud of themselves. If you are thinking of going, just go and stop reading the excellent reviews ;) Will be back in a heart beat! :-)

Popped in here on the off chance when in Devon for weekend and stopped as we were hungry. We followed brown signss to a lovely small pub with limited parking, It looked pretty busy but one table was free which we gratefully sat at. Although all seats were taken, the pub did not feel crowded. We both had a Sunday roast, I had lamb and husband belly pork. What a lovely meal, plenty of meat, crispy roast potatoes, red cabbage, swede, parsnips and Yorkshire pudding served on the plates with an additional dish with peas, carrots, brocoli, cauliflower, kale, sweetcorn and gravy all cooked and served to perfection. The staff were friendly and helpful. A really lucky find and a large, delicious meal at a reasonable price.

Cosy atmosphere shared with friends and family for a Christmas drink before heading home again for Christmas Dinner. An excellent way to start off the festivities.
