Excellent - good food, good service, good price. It was a family meal as we wouldn't be together at Christmas. Really enjoyable evening

visited on a whim, yesterday evening after a day out with 2 very hungry children. lots of variety on the menu all very good value and the children's meals at around 6 pound each came with a starter, main, dessert and drink,and the two adults meals came in at 2 4 1. all staff members were very helpful but jack our server went above and beyond to meet our needs, very welcoming and keen to help us. couldn't have asked for better service from Jack. meals were beautiful and we left with very full satisfied stomachs.

We stopped here for an evening meal whilst staying at Whitfield Cottage about a mile down the road towards Radstock. Good beer, Good food ,nice people.The pub looks a bit dated out side and we were a bit hesitant about going in, But in the end glad we did.

Met friends here for a catch up. Brilliant welcome from a charming smiling barmaid. Locals were friendly too. Lovely warm & welcoming atmosphere, shame real fire was not lit though. Plenty of specials as well as a regular menu to choose from. Service was quick & food piping hot. Both mains & desserts were delicious, All perfectly cooked to taste. Good size portions & certainly value for money. Yummy generous garlic bread. Sticky toffee pudding was ideal comfort food for a cold wintery day! The bar area & loos were spotless & no water marks on the cutlery, so attention to detail worthy. Decor is non fussy, old fashioned & plain - no 'boutique' or 'themed' make overs here. Nice gentle ramp at front door, & inner rooms all on the flat - consequently ideal for customers with mobility issues. Pub is on a fast road, but car park is easily usable with entry & exit points - a fine clear view of oncoming traffic. We saw & chatted with several folk we knew, such an ideal meeting place. Overall a great visit.

50th Birthday meal Sunday lunch time.Friendly, welcoming landlord which was reflected in all the staff.20 plus meals served reasonably quickly with adequate side orders of vegetables.Could not fault the food and the Butcombe and Bath ales were well worth the visit on their own. All in all a very pleasant experience with every one enjoying the family get together.

At the white post I've always had a very warm welcome from the staff and the food has always been fantastic. Christmas meal is a regular for us and again this year it didn't disappoint. An amazing roast dinner with plenty of veg followed by a delicious homemade dessert.Again our party left more than happy and a full belly. Highly recommend

Stopped by for a spot of lunch & were impressed with the friendly landlord who served our drinks, down hill rapidly however, after this.Starter of garlic mushrooms cooked in butter came out served on bread, this was a pile of mush 30 seconds later. Beer battered fish next for main & not only looked completely unappetising, it actually was.Will not be returning I’m afraid.

Six of us for a meal. Do you really serve Sea bass with roast potatoes and sprouts !!!! First fish returned as cold and pepper dressing so wrong !! Ask for a salad which was very poor and fish over cooked(microwaved) . Puds not so bad but if you class a small chunk of Chedder and a little Brie with 3biscuits and 4grapes Cheese and biscuits your having a laugh !!!! Don't get me started on Christmas Crackers.....

Another great meal at the White Post, a solid menu, serving good portions of piping hot fare all at a reasonable price. We really enjoyed the faggots, thank you.

We've been here many times, consistently well looked after, they cater for large groups, I've recommended The White Post to many and will continue to do so.

I came to the White Post last weekend with my parents. The pub looks very traditional and we were greeted quickly by the bar staff. Unfortunately, once we had ordered our drinks from the bar that is where the service ends.

I had the wonderful ploughmans.

The White Post was our stop for food when visiting our friend. The food was lovely and fresh.

This is a traditional pub, great for a refreshing drink when passing by. Service was good and the drink refreshing and cold, what more could I want on a hot summers day.

Called in at the whim of my wife following a frustrating afternoon's shopping nearby. My wife's friends had recommended the White Post and her intuition said it would be good. Neither were wrong.

Met with some girlfriends for Saturday lunch and were very well looked after. The staff were friendly and attentive. Would like to try Sunday lunch one day.

Down to earth local food, try the dishes of the day highlighted. Nice place to be during off peak period with your family. Wonderful bartender to chat up making the atmosphere more lively. Ample parking space is a plus point compared to other joints.

We have eaten here several times with family for Sunday lunch. Very good food, very good value, good service (sometimes very good). The place could do with a bit of TLC but some people would call that "atmosphere". Would still definitely recommend.

We have eaten here several times when we are in the area and have always been very pleased with the standard of food. A roaring fire and friendly staff make it a nice place to be.

Good old fashioned traditional pub , not a fancy chain owned venue trying to be a wine bar in the country , but a good honest house selling good food and good drinks at sensible prices , shame there are not many places like this left .10/10 to Brendan and all the staff .

Called in about 16:00 in the hope that my family and I would grab a late Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed. Great food great service and good value!

Popped in here for a beer on a way home one day, and enjoyed it. Its a proper old fashioned local ... good beers, friendly staff and atmosphere ...happy to recommend

Ignora el menú en línea. Elegimos el hotel porque de la opción menú, pero cuando llegamos allí el menú que queríamos no estaba en el menú. El personal se disculpó y dijo que no han actualizado el menú. No alojarse y comer tuve la lasaña fue muy pobre que estaba tibia y sabían como pastel. Cuando lo mencioné a la camarera, ella solo se rió. Patatas frías mi comida marido no era mucho mejor, pero como la carne. La parte principal del pub estaba muy bien, pero la habitación contigua al bar donde comimos le faltaba ambiente, y era bastante deprimente. Otra pareja también dijo a la camarera que me había elegido desde el menú y es por eso que estaban allí también. El hombre estaba muy decepcionado. Personalmente no volvería a comer, pero para tomar una copa.

Spent a few days in the hotel, was a nice experience. Room could of been a bit cleaner and kettle needed throwing out. But service was good, breakfast included was a high light. Land lord wore the same clothes for 3 days and smoked inside the restaurant which was somewhat off putting. But for a price-location ratio, would go back.

Nos metimos en una comida antes de ver una banda local de Midsomer jugar Norton. El menú era bueno con algunas opciones vegetarianas para mí, y ofertas especiales. El pub estaba muy concurrido, con gente local de la zona porque todos parecían conocerse, y permiten perros. La comida en sí era satisfactorio, aunque no muy emocionante, pero ofrece una buena relación calidad-precio.

Mi esposa y yo fuimos a tomarnos algo en un domingo a mediodía. Aunque el pub estaba ocupado con la mayoría de banda para comer, encontramos una bonita mesa en una esquina fuera del camino. Las bebidas eran un poco iluminado y caro, pero el pub está amueblado de forma agradable y tiene un bonito país.

Stopped of here for our evening meal, Young lady on the bar was very nice and friendly, The ale was very nice and a good price.We had a nice Curry which was basic but tasty, Good value , we would come back when next in the area.

Went here for Sunday lunch with friends. The menu for Sunday lunch is very good but you can also have the normal menu. The food was very good loads of fresh vegetables and very well priced

My wife and I stayed behind for a meal after drinks with some friends. The food is traditional pub grub and cooked very well. Steaks, pies, traditional pub meals, it's all there as you would expect. The choice of beer and cider is more than satisfactory. There was a real fire to keep everyone warm, no TV and no music - perfect.

There are not many places where I can say that the standard of food has always been good no matter what day of week or whether lunch or dinner. Last visit midweek lunch the pub was very busy, and had a great atmosphere. One slight disappointment was the fire not lit, which always looks lovely and gives the pub a cosy feel to it. Although busy our food came out in good time and was very hot. This is a lovely local pub which also benefits of having a large room at back that is used when bar area full or for private parties but be warned this room can be very chilly and also toilets and kitchen accessed from this room.

Really enjoyed our Sunday roast, great value especially the kids roast which was very generous and great value at £4.95 including a drink. We will be returning again soon!

Went to this Inn with Mother in law,wife,and daughter for a special birthday treat.Great atmosphere,good varied menu,and all enjoyed the food we ordered.add to this pleasant bar staff,and orders taken at the table ( same lady) and you have a winner.Yes we will go there again

We Visited this little gem on our way back from Cornwall. It is so nice to find a traditional English pub that serves good pub food as there aren't many of these left. The Staff were very welcoming as we're the locals at the bar. The food was great. I had a steak and kidney pie which was the best I've tasted for a long time and my wife had the lasagne which she loved. We didn't have room for pudding but we did have a coffee after our meal when we went outside to enjoy the countryside views. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area again. Keep up the good work white post.

I ordered the "soup of the day" for starter, when I asked what flavour the soup was the waitress just shrugged and said she had no idea. I suspect that they do not change the soup everyday. It was bland, without seasoning and I am still unsure what soup it was supposed to be. It was served with halve a baguette. Which was one that you can buy from the supermarket and warm in the oven for 10 minutes. Some of my family had the nachos to start, which was obviously microwaved as the bowls were cold and there was no sign of the cheese browning.For main, I had the stilton and broccoli pasta bake. Again, this was bland. I could not taste the stilton and the broccoli was so overcooked it had separated in the cream sauce. The side salad was boring and had no dressing.On the positive; the ales were good (I needed them to get through the meal). Even though the food was cheap, it was still not worth it, I urge you to avoid this place at all cost!

Great little pub serves basic pub food which is very nice. Staff very helpful and friendly. The restaurant area is small but cosy. Overall we were made very welcome.

A meal out is our treat and we have found ourselves returning to the White Post because the food is always excellent. I vary my choice and last night chose the trio of minted lamb chops with vegetables and new potatoes. The lamb was perfectly cooked, the vegetables were plentiful and the new potatoes very tasty. The gravy was thick and I really appreciated that it was served in a separate jug. My husband is a steak aficionado and his idea of being adventurous was to order surf and turf. The steak was cooked to perfection - medium rare and the chips were 'proper chips', crunchy and golden brown. We will definitely be returning before too long.

Having decided to enjoy the first signs of spring today, my husband, children and I decided to have Sunday lunch at the White Post Inn. The food was lovely, the staff were great and we even managed a drink in the sunshine whilst the kids played in the park. We will most definitely be back very soon.

My sister and I have been regular visitors to the white post over the last year but are regularly disappointed with our meals. Today was the worst ever, we both ordered omelettes mine was a mushroom and my sister ordered a cheese omelette. When mine arrives it looked as though it had been dropped on the floor, when I queried its appearance the waitress said it was probably the old pan it had been cooked in. I couldn't have eaten it and she returned it to the kitchen and brought another. I was prepared to eat this one which although it looked messy. On paying our bill I realised that I had been charged for both the one I returned and the one I ate. Needless to say we will not be going to the white post again.

this meal was the tastiest meal, real old fashioned English fare, it was not on the menu but I remembered seeing it as a special on a previous trip but having already ordered I consigned it to memory for the next visit the staff were brilliant when I asked for it it was no problem even though they were busy thank you white post we will be back

we enjoyed a good portion of excellent food and a bread and butter pudding that was declared "As good as my granny used to make" a compliment indeed we will certainly go again and soon

Heading for the George Inn after Woodpecker furniture shopping but it was shut. Dropped in at the White Post on chance and it was brilliant. Good beer, good food and excellent service. Would have been quite pleased at twice the price but at the actual price it was a bargain.

The staff here were really friendly and the service was really speedy even though they had been struck by lightning which had kicked out all the phone lines. Good honest good value pub food.

Although this local pub is in need of a refurbishment the food and staff make it worth a visit.The staff are very friendly, they do not rush you in fact they are very laid back.The food is good food nothing fancy just homemade type food.

I heard this pub won pub of the year and wanted to try for myself, must say the authentic pub feel is truly there, the food was great, the bar man, brendon I think was his name was very friendly and entertainment in himself. It truly is a great pub, well done

Good food served in very pleasant surroundings. Service was good and staff were most attentive and understanding to my wifes special needs.

We often visit the White Post Inn on our way home from day trips, the staff and locals are very friendly and there is always a smiling face to great us. The food is great and the menu has a good variety to pick from, plus there are always some specials on offer. Homemade desserts are great and always a winner with the kids. If the day out hasn't tired the kids out then an hour in the play park whilst we enjoy a well deserved beer does the trick!! An all round great pub just wish we were able to visit more often.

Old pub with the best real ales and the most delicious home-cooked food prepared by the landlady herself! Radiating atmosphere with brilliant welcoming staff. Not many of these pubs left.

Came to The White Post Inn with family for a meal and a drink. After coming to the pub many a time I found this visit to be well below average. The food as always is great value for money and well worth the money, compliments to the chef. As for the front of house staff however it was a different story, Our "server" was rude, obnoxious and pressurising. Overcharged us on our order and after informing a female in a blue blouse she altered the receipt and merely threw it on the table without any apology whatsoever. Service with a smile was non existent during our meal. Extremely disappointed with the overall meal, will be a while before I return here again, sorry to say.

An early evening drink and a lite bite was pleasant enough. The food is normal pub food, the steak was good and our ploughman's quite acceptable. The pub itself a little tired and in need of an upgrade but the staff friendly and accommodating.

A Real pub offering home cooked food at reasonable prices.(I have never experienced undue delay with service) Real ales from a well kept cellar served by a friendly landlord and staff. All in all an enjoyable experience. p.s. great curtains.

We went to the White Post Inn for a family meal on Mothers Day,Sunday roast was fantastic,generous portions with 4 veg. and a choice of 3 meats.Considering the place was full and very busy the service was excellent, the staff were very polite and could not do enough to help. Lots of attention to detail down to fresh flowers on every table and a gift for every mum of a hand crafted brooch.We would highly recommend this pub, we will be back!!!

we went for sunday Roastwaited over an hour for our food and it was coldthen we never seen the waitress again, even though we asked for condiments.

We visited the White post for the first time in about 8 years, for a family meal. I have to say that we probably wouldn't go back again.Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful, the whole place is now very shabby. Basic pub grub was well presented, but it was really let down by the fact that the plce smelt a bit fousty and old - carpets and decor not changed since the smoking ban may not have helped. Despite the fact that both the doors to outside were open, it did nothing to help!Since mentioning our visit to others in our local area, the comment given by one friend - 'Oh, you went to the white ghost did you', said it all, we can't be the only ones to feel this way about the pub, as despite it being a sunny summers day, the place was completly empty!This may be a nice place to go for a pint at lunch time, or after work, but more needs to be done to get it back to its old standards.

Real ales and a real atmosphere.A nice enough pub with well above average service and good pub food.A more than reasonable choice of dishes, served promptly and with the minimum of fuss.Most importantly, the staff are very nice and very helpful and as we all know, good service usually comes from the top down so I imagine the owners take their business very seriously and they are making a good job of it.Happy to recommend

A proper pub with a food menu. The Sunday lunch particularly is excellent value with a big plateful at a very reasonable price...with more gravy served as standard!They are friendly and usually busy but service is speedy and the food is good pub grub, not fancy but very tasty. Well worth a visit!
