We had a lovely roast dinner (Yorkshires were amazing), with quick and efficient staff and a lovely calm atmosphere. The fire was going which was fab for a cold winter day.

Tripping through this beautiful part of gods own country with my older wife we spotted the Woolpack. My wife was massive fan of Emmerdale Farm when the farm still featured in the title . The removal of the farm reference seemed to lead to a decline about become more akin to a rural version of Hollyoaks (never a good thing ) Lovely welcome . Turn left if you have a dog and turn right if no K9 Wide and electic food menu and two fabulous buzzy ladies making sure everyone was looked after . Go,enjoy and think of all the wonderful Emmerdale Farm characters xxx

Fab pub! The menu is simple classic pub food but it is all beautifully cooked and presented. We had 4 different meals and each part of them was perfect. The salad sticks were fresh and crisp, the chips were gastro, lamb soft, veg fresh and delicious. The mac and cheese was richly flavoured. Katsu chicken was tasty, portions generous. The lunchtime saver meal is on until 5pm, so we'll be back another day to try that. 2 courses 8.99!

We’ve been here before and had a really nice breakfast. Not sure if there’s new owners but the service we received tonight was nothing short of absolutely awful! The roast dinner we received wasn’t much better than a meal I’d expect to eat in a prison. Pigs in blankets were cold, meat was almost inedible, roast potatoes flavourless. The chap who got us the bill failed to ask if we were satisfied with the food, just gave us the bill which I begrudged paying. Overall an unpleasant experience at the woolpack. We won’t be returning, which is a shame as it’s such a nice building in a great location.

The Woolpack is my 'goto' Inn for a catch up with friends for a pint and a light lunch. Although very disappointed that the 'Burger and a Pint' offer enjoyed on October 15th was no longer available I did like the smaller portion size of fish, chips and peas, I am not at all partial to rosemary chips but was happy that I was offered normal skinny fries instead. We were looked after attentively by Marie and Mandy and thanks to Libby the Chef. A very happy couple of hours was spent here.

I called here for lunch whilst working in the area, my three visits to clients today had all over-run. With a return-trip needed later in the day I decided to stay in the area, rather than return home for lunch; only to drive back here again 45 minutes later. With my Partner away visiting family, I also decided to have my main meal of the day whilst out; rather than cooking for myself in the evening at home. This is a pub that I have passed many times on my way to work-calls, but it wasn’t until recently that I have needed to make work-related visits to Beckington itself. So, it was time to acquaint myself with this attractive village-centre hostelry. The pub sits right on the junction of the Bath Road and the Warminster Road. I correctly assumed this was a very busy junction before the Beckington by-pass (A36) was built in 1989. Apparently for years, the T-junction in the centre of the village was grid-locked during busy commuter times, and especially-so in the holiday season. This attractive village is now very quiet, mostly with local traffic only. This is just as well, as there appears to be no private carpark for this pub. I parked-up in the residential area on the Warminster Road; there were plenty of spaces, but I guess that evening and weekend parking may be more of a challenge? So, to lunch. It was a few minutes before 14:00, and knowing nothing about the Woolpack, I popped into the bar and asked if lunch was still being served. It was, and I was invited to choose a table, which I did; selecting one with a street-view. The menus were on the table, and there was an attractive ‘special’ of a burger and a drink for £12.00. I had however enjoyed a Wagyu burger at home on the previous evening, so I chose Hunter’s Chicken and a bottle of ginger beer (my favourite ‘Fentimans’ brand). Service was very good; in that it took about 15 minutes for my meal to arrive (by which time I had almost finished my drink). I am actually encouraged by a modest delay in a quiet pub, because it indicates that meals have been properly oven-cooked rather than slopped into a tub and ‘nuked’. My meal looked great, the oven-dish containing the chicken really looked attractive and as though it had been conventionally oven-cooked. The Hunter’s BBQ sauce was very dark (almost black) and very sticky: being very good indeed. The chicken breast was well-trimmed and beautifully cooked. The main plat with fries and onion rings were crisp and oil-free, and the small side-salad was a ‘small side-salad’. Job done, meal all eaten, but a second Fentiman’s ginger beer was knocked-back before I left my table. I still had some time to spare, so I went for about an hour’s stroll around the area, seeing some lovey views in the late autumn sunshine. Beckington is certainly set in some lovely countryside.

Visited with a friend for Sunday lunch and although service was friendly and efficient was very disappointed with the 2 roast meals ordered. Beef (which was offered as 'served pink') was obviously microwaved and very overcooked. The parsnips were overcooked to the point of being inedible, and one cauliflower cheese was lacking any cauliflower! Not the usual standard of food, having eaten there on several previous occasions.

On the last day of our trip, we decided to stop here for a bit of lunch before leaving. I honestly wish we hadn't. Firstly, the good - We didnt have a booking, and were sat down very quickly, the server came straight over and took our drinks and food order. When my wife wanted to change her drink order, it was dealt with really well. The soup was nice Our bill was amended after complaining with no issues Now, the bad - They didn't have the pretty standard bottled beer I ordered. Also, the meal I ordered wasn't available and neither was my sons - we both changed to something that they had. We then waited for well over 45 minutes for our food, when it arrived, my sons Hunters Chicken ( although tasty ) had no cheese on it and the corn on the cob was literally frozen - I mean straight out of the freezer. My burger tasted nice, but the edges of the bun were like concrete. At no stage did anybody come over to us and apologise for the long wait we had. These aren't things that should happen, but even worse when we have waited 45 minutes for it. Also very disappointed that when we advised of our issues, that the manager didn't come to speak to us, instead leaving our server to sort it out. I fully accept this was Bank Holiday Monday and some things may be out of stock, but had we realised the wait would be so long and the issues we would have with the food, we wouldn't have stayed. Not somewhere we will be going back to.

This pub has long caught my eye from the road; it looks promising. Unfortunately, the reality falls short of the exterior. Room was boiling hot, windows wouldn't stay open, sofa bed for our daughter may as well of just been springs with no mattress diabolical for the price of £114. Food was atrocious. I am actually shocked that anyone even eats food at this place, especially breakfast. Rotten banana from the fruit basket (photo attached) Crumpets you could of built a house with. Bacon and mushrooms that had obviously been cooked the night before, mushrooms were shrivled, dry and wrinkly. All cereal was witnessed to have been left out overnight covered in clingfilm, upon my daughter helping herself, the whole bowl of cereal came out on the spoon, in the shape of the bowl. Poched eggs, bacon, soughdough and hollandaise. Came out with no hollandaise. One slice of brittle bacon and soughdough that you could of used as a door stop and two very overcooked eggs. Asked the waitress to change and informed me that it's meant to be like that. Replaced nd it was somewhat edible. But no where near worth the amount of money they are charging. Staff at breakfast were not very attentive, had to keep getting their attention out of the room. Also felt the staff didn't seem to be happy to be there and just found us annoying. Would not reccomend staying here sadly. And we won't be back.

SORRY too late !! You should have done this at the time !!!!!! LESSONS must reserve a table with so others avoid this embarrassing event which not only spoils the experience but can drive customers away !! First visit to this lovely village pub with our family. We hade a lovely warm and friendly welcome from the staff Justine, Linda and Pete. We ordered drinks and food it all came very quickly considering how busy the place was . The food was fantastic couldn't fault it 👌. The pub was extremely clean . We will definitely be returning soon .

Nice pub but we found the manageress abrupt and rude. We were going to stay for food but the way she spoke to us changed our minds. Shame because the pub itself is lovely and all the other staff seemed nice (If somewhat bullied by the boss!)

We had a wonderful friendly welcome from Marie & Linda, who were exceptional at their jobs.We had our elderly mother with us who needed a bit of help to the table as she is not so able these days & they were both there to help straight away. THANK YOU BOTH : ). Also the food was delicious, Thank you to the chef Colin. We will be back.

My husband and I last stayed here 30 years ago so it was a nostalgic return for two nights with breakfast and dinner. We stayed in room 11 a large double with a door that needs a good shouldering! It was a lovely large room, very comfortable large bed and sofa area. Breakfasts were great and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and hardworking. We had a lovely stay.

Go here fairly often as local to us, never had anything bad to say about this place. The food is very reasonably priced considering everything these days, and everything we’ve ever had tastes great. Stuff are always bubbly and friendly, the atmosphere is lovely!

The refurb of this place is of a very high standard and the staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food lets it down. Primarily, if you don't like burgers or fish and chips, find somewhere else. I visited with a friend and although my fish and chips were good, my friends meal was first served on completely cold vegetables. On pointing this out to the waiting staff, she offered a replacement which, we expected would be a plated meal with hot food. Unfortunately it was delivered as a pile of veg and potatoes thrown together in a tin dish. Not ideal and a real disappointment. Probably would not visit again.

We stayed for one night after Xmas shopping at the Clark’s village in Street. This lovely Inn with rooms is only 5 miles away. The welcome and check in from the lady at the desk were fantastic. She was naturally polite and helpful, not put on at all. Our room was very clean and spacious with everything we needed and lots of hot water for a relaxing bath. Homemade cookies were a nice touch too. We ate in the pub and can also say that this was a lovely experience with great food and a roaring fire. All staff were very friendly and provided fantastic service. Breakfast the next morning was also great with locally sourced ingredients. We will return, Thank you.
