Not the best experience and possibly 1 of the worst roast beef Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. Alarm bells ringing when they provide a steak knife with roast beef! In fact it was needed to cut through the fatty gristle meat. Roast potatoes were obviously prepared a few days ago and reheated. Shame as I’ve visited before and it was really good. Table service is non existent….. I was glad they didn’t have the cheek to apply the discretionary service charge. When I paid £17 for roast beef I mentioned to the lady on the till that I thought the standard of food was poor….oh sorry was the response! In other words… I couldn’t give a F**k

Lovely little spot next to the canal tow path with easy parking. Good range on the menu and nice outdoor but covered seating options. However it definitely feels like your classic captive audience cafe, being that there are few other options nearby. We had a brie, chutney and bacon panini (around £9) and a bacon bap with added sausage (also around the £9 mark). The food was hot and tasted good but for £9 somethings felt lacking. The bacon fat wasn't trimmed, there was no kind of garnish and for close to a tenner I'd expect a better quality bread roll. In truth, it looked like something you might find in a lay by than in a cute cafe, but it did taste good and both bacon and sausages were good quality. Similarly, the brie was good and the panini was tasty. I think small touches could hugely elevate the offerings to reflect the cost, as our two sandwiches and two coffees cost £22, which seems a lot.

Superb view. Excellent food. Exemplary service! The Upper Deck is a great place to eat and have a drink in rock. What a location overlooking the entire Camel Bay over to Padstow. Ophelia and Claire are a brilliant hospitality team - other restaurants/pubs take note! The menu has something for everyone and all very reasonably priced. Our drinks and food arrived promptly - with a smile…how refreshing!! And superb meals they were too! Highly recommended AAAAA

Had dinner here last night with friends, a lovely village, locals pub with exceptional food. Between us we had the ducking, beef casserole and steak, all very good, plenty of flavour and well presented. Service was good, as made to feel very welcome and welcome from moment we stepped through the door. A great experience and great value for money.

We visited the Riveria for lunch today, our first visit for 8 years and I have to say that I was very disappointed. I ordered cod and chips at a hotel next to the sea but I was given a piece of battered fish straight out of the "Bird's Eye" mould and not freshly cooked as I expected from a hotel of some repute. This was nowhere near the quality I enjoy regularly from my local Wetherspoons!

Sadly very disappointed. Had garlic mushrooms to start. Three portions ok but one looked like they'd run out and quickly put some mushrooms in a tasteless soup! Mains ok but one had ham egg and chips which the ham was awful. Fair enough taken off of bill. Was supposed to be a restaurant but exactly same as bar and dogs in restaurant area. A big no no for me. Won't be returning as this was a birthday meal and was not as expected.

We ate in the magnificently decorated bar and my choice of food, the venison steak was pretty good. The service staff were very pleasant and the bar had a choice of excellent cask ale. It is probably not the cheapest place around, but we were pleased to have found it and had a very nice meal.

Not great. They don't serve Cod, only Haddock 🫤. With two hungry kids in tow, my husband decided to order here instead of finding a good local chippy in Dawlish which we were going to do. It is, however, super convenient, quick & easy if you're onsite. The portions were quite small and the batter on the fish was a little 'powdery' and not particularly crispy but it was the haddock that really let this chippy down and my husband really didn't enjoy it after he'd been looking forward to fish & chips on holiday! Chips were okay though but kids sausages were quite salty. I'd probably recommend finding a good seaside chippy if you want good fish & chips. We went to one next to the train station in Dawlish which was MUCH MUCH better. Husband got his fish & chip fix in the end!

Such a disappointing experience after reading misleading positive reviews. Food was terrible! Every dish served to our table was questionable. We gave up. Service slow and unenthusiastic which made their imposed £15 cover charge an extra slap in the face. Would highly NOT recommend. There are plenty of better more friendly places to eat in the area.

We had expected to have trouble finding a restaurant with a free table as today is Mothers' Day. There was an empty table here and as they were serving roast lamb we went in. The lamb was lean and there was a good selection of vegetables and new potatoes. For dessert, we both had a large slice of a delicious sticky toffee pudding, one with a very generous portion of ice cream and the other with custard. With a glass of wine too, the bill was very reasonable.
