Me & my partner came here on 5/9/24 on a very rainy day. We both grabbed a little drink and a treat here and relaxed in the lovely cafe after a long wet walk from Croyde bay. The staff here were wonderful and all really lovely! The millionaires shortbread was the best I’ve ever had and the cheesy chips were delicious! There is a wide variety of drinks to choose from, both hot and cold. Really lovely vibes and will definitely come here again!

Lovely pasties! Really scrummy. They did traditional steak (gorgeous) chicken and chorizo and cheese and onion. All of which were really delicious. The breakfast baps weren't so great though. Very dry.

I previously left you a review, to which the tone of your reply was off - it's not your fault your business is situated on a really lovely big beach, which is why we returned and thought we'd give peace a chance. Had a lovely pasty and some pastries. I don't know what it is, but the customer service never hits the mark - Often find one or two of the girls to not have that aura of friendliness or patience about them. You once said: 'we are not and do not advertise ourselves to be a Fish & Chip shop, which would also explain why our chips are not ‘chip shop chips' This is a fair response, but, you must expect disappointment tutting from the British public when they rightly assume an eatery (the only one might I add) based right on the sea front, is not selling fish. It's your choice as an owner, but really disappointing. When you also once said: 'Although we are by the sea we generally like fish to remain in their natural environment however we occasionally have fish on our specials.' Tiz a shame that you don't have the same morals for the sausages you sell! I guess that not all fish lives matter when you want them on the specials.

Lovely location right next to the beach. Tasty coffees and decent food. However their attitude towards their customers is very poor. They offer coffee in proper metallic mugs which I ordered. Also cheesy chips which I ordered. Neither appeared , coffee was in paper cup and no cheese on chips. When challenged it was my fault it seems for not checking the bill. Not their error but mine for not double checking. Maybe if they trained the staff to use the till correctly, oh no who could they blame then?

How can it be that a food and beverage cafe, the only one I might add, based right on the pathway off the main car park towards the sea front, DOES NOT SELL ANY BATTERED FISH? Not even batterless fish. I’ve visited twice in the last 8 months and each time, disappointed. I can review the sausage and chips I had: Not your traditional chip shop chips. I would guess supermarket frozen chips Sausages were okay. Couldn’t even batter those, mind! When I made the statement to the girl serving me about why they don’t sell cod, hoping for a logical reason such as ‘it’s too costly’ or ‘it’s not a popular choice’ (extremely unlikely), she replies ‘because it’s not on the menu’. Appreciate it isn’t probably her business but come on! Thanks! Very informative.

No issues with food, but a staff member when asked for a cup of hot water to heat up some food for a baby she said (slightly laughing in a apologetic tone - sorry..."I've got to charge for this") - charging me £1.00 for hot water for a BABY!!!! I've stopped in numerous places and NEVER been asked this. I begrudging paid it. But hugely disappointed and the manner in which it happened... laughing is unforgivable.

We dropped in for a hot drink today. The place is nice enough but the way they work is bizarre. We had to order our drinks outside then go inside and wait for the drinks to put on the counter. Then you have to back outside to get sugar etc. At £2.70 for a coffee and £3 for a sausage roll it isn’t a cheap option. Would definitely give it a miss next time.

Stopped here for ice cream on the long walk and it was very average. It was Kelly’s ice cream that you can get in most supermarkets and very commercial. However I should have had the vegan lunch options. They had a fantastic range of vegan and vegetarian meals which looked fantastic. Might go back just to try them! Overall a decent experience but went up a star for the food options for different dietary requirements

We have been coming here for years. It is so lovely to be somewhere that welcomes everyone and their 4 legged friends. Our dog loves it here as do we. How can you beat a lovely long wintry walk on the best beach in Devon to blow away the cobwebs, followed by a hot drink and some good basic food with your loved ones and your dog? This cafe also serves the best pasties I have had, even better than any in Cornwall. Please don't change anything. We need cafes like yours as there are too many now that have simply got too posh to enjoy when you're out covered in sand, windblown and quite probably in the winter -dripping wet! That said, the Saunton Sizzler bap for breakfast it the spot! It would have been even better if I could have had the option of a brown instead of white bap but that aside, it was great with the coffee that washed it down! Very disappointed, stopped in for a bite to eat on our way to take our dog for a walk, I ordered a 'posh fish finger' sandwich, far from it, it was freshly cooked which was great and we didn't mind waiting for but when it arrived it was in a giant bun with a tiny piece of fish no bigger than a frozen fish finger, few slices of tomato and some lettuce, so basically I'd paid £4.50 for a giant bun and warm salad. My girlfriends pasty was also small for the price.I know it's a nice location but I do feel their taking advantage of this, which is a shame as I'm sure if the food they served was more honest, they would have repeat custom, I won't be returning anytime soon.

My partner and I visit the beach most days and often several times a day in the summer! After our dog walk we always drop in to the cafe for a well deserved coffee, always to be greeted by the friendly team with a warm welcome! Not quite sure what people are talking about when they suggest there is no water for their dogs, as our little Jack Russell always heads straight for the bowl which is always available and then sits awaiting his tasty bones that you can buy from the cafe, he is treated as one of the locals and is well looked after!! On the odd day that the bowl is empty, I have only had to ask politely for it to be filled and it is done! If there is a queue and the staff are busy, I have always got my own bottle of water for hot days, as it is my responsibility to keep my dog fed and watered anyway!! Keep up the good work guys, it's a great place to visit!!!

Saunton Sands itself is a magical beach whatever the weather but as we always visit in winter - hot drinks and hot food as you come off the beach is just what the doctor ordered! The new indoor cafe area is brilliant. Love the trendy design and so nice to have somewhere you can keep dry and warm while you are eating! It is very dog friendly as indeed is Saunton beach ( and all year round - not just the winter). The owner even provided us with a little bag of treats for our dog which was such a great little touch. All 3 of us were dripping wet and very windswept. Nice to see some cheerful Xmas decorations twinkling away too. We go to Saunton most years, and have used this cafe quite often. The food available, and prices have always been quite reasonable. The service has usually been OK, albeit not so quick sometimes. Our most recent visit on August Bank Holiday Saturday though was both a pleasant surprise, and disappointing. Firstly we were impressed by the new covered seating area, which is a big bonus for when the weather's not so good. But then I was disappointed by the attitude of one staff member in particular. We had just been served ourselves, and were just leaving, when an American-sounding tourist asked, very politely "Excuse me, but do you guys serve, err..., chips with gravy" The tallish man serving him simply said "Do you see that on the menu?". The American replied, quite hesitantly, that he didn't, so the man said "well, that'll tell you we dont".Now I was in the process of walking away, with hands full of cups of tea, and didn't say anything, but afterwards really wished I had. There was no excuse for this kind of sarcastic reply, belittling this very polite man. It's even more wrong, in my mind, that this was a foreign tourist. We should surely be giving overseas tourists the best impression of this country, so that they want to come again, and they persuade others to do so also.

this was our first visit to Saunton Sands and our first time body boarding. This cafe is a a welcome sight after using the cold showers ! Great choice of ice cream flavours which were delicious. It is very popular and we were lucky we caught a slightly quieter time. We had a meal on our last day at five pm before our drive home. We had the Hawaiian panini and burgers which were big. Didn't really need the cheesy chips we shared. The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we had all that we wanted. We had mentioned it was my husbands birthday so they sang Happy Birthday to him ! Would highly recommend

One of the best Sunday carveries that we have experienced, with a wide range of vegetables & meat; welcoming staff, especially Kim & Wendy, nothing was too much bother

Location wise excellent. Unfortunately, this tired old looking pub has definitely seen better days! Need of major investment, but it would definitely be worth it. Years ago, this pub was full of customers all of the time.

Bad first (not that bad ..😆) A bit old and dated, dispite the newish tile panelling Batter was nice but a little oily on the fish (soaked into the batter) The good.. HUGE battered fish - (suggest you just get the small one) cooked perfectly Sirloin steak was tender and cooked perfectly (ordered medium) I was pleasantly surprised on the quality, as it's a basic takeaway with a restaurant attached and it was under £20, so no top steak restaurant - but kudos to the chef, best £20 steak I've had, and better than some classier $$$$ places I've been, For that £20 I also got onion rings (perfect), salad - quality greens, few cut up bits of capsicum a couple of mushrooms, tomato, fried tomato too and plenty of chips cooked perfectly and very nice. (but best chips in UK I've had is at Lochgilphead - Scotland) Constructive criticism only - I was VERY happy given the price, Way better than a lot of places I've been to so far in the UK, and would definitely eat the same dishes again. Staff were friendly... This is at the end of the tourist season too. (Oct'24)

What a gem of a find. Lovely quirky little pub. My wife is a coeliac, and most of the main courses on the menu were gluten free. Delicious food, very friendly staff. We had the added bonus that the local folk band were practicing, so great food, nice chilled music & lovely surroundings. Definitely a 10/10.
