With a fabulous view of the sea and an interesting interior with art installations on every wall this place is worth a visit for that alone. The food was good, however we expected a rather more experimental menu from a restaurant partly owned by Damian Hurst. Staff very friendly but dare I say a little too attentive. (But better that than the reverse!) The perfect place after viewing Verity.

Damien Hirst's footprint can be easily seen at this well located restaurant, on Ilfracombe's harbourside, from the minature Verity statue near the bar area, to the butterflies and other works around the walls. The staff are friendly and service is good. The menu is large enough to give plenty of options but it is not pretentious and the food is well done. Pricing is not over the top either. The only thing I feel was somewhat negative was that when I gave feedback that the chicken was (very) over salted, whilst this was passed back to the kitchen, no attempt was made to recompense by way of some money off the bill (the main course was spoiled by too much salt) or drink for example. Notwithstanding this, we enjoyed the meal overal and also our experience. We would recommend for lunch or dinner (great views) and would return.

100% recommend this place. The food was brilliant - menu is very focused on fish being in a fishing village. My partner had the fish of the day which was excellent. I had the steak and chips which is difficult to get right but this place nailed it - it's as good as if not better than Hawksmoor. The restaurant itself is also beautiful, a really light cheerful space looking out onto the sea and super friendly, capable staff. The prices are a bit more London than Devon as it's more of a special occasion place, but absolutely worth it for the quality of the food. There's also a cafe downstairs serving proper coffee.

Ate in the Atlantic room twice in 2 weeks. Great view of rolling sea. Food excellent. Mussels and scallops both great starters. Had fish one night, lamb the other. Both were lovely. In a town where fish and chips and burgers dominate, it was good to find somewhere serving a more refined menu. Prices not too scary either. You can also get inexpensive wine (as well as expensive). This restaurant has a great location if you want to sit and watch the world go by in a quaint harbour town. We arrived too late to eat but still enjoyed good service, local cider and some well presented nibbles which left us well satisfied. We were spectators when one of the numerous seagulls performed an incredibly adept swoop to nick a scoop from a lady's ice cream cone and watched the horse and trap take tourists up and down the quay. All this after we had admired the craggy coast and the dramatic sculpture by Damien Hirst.

First impressions are that this restaurant should be fine dining of sorts. It's not. Whilst the waiting staff are absolutely approachable and friendly service skills need a little work. Being left for 10 mins to then be told there were no tables even though we had booked was not a good start. The starters were of passable quality however one of our mains 'the rack of lamb' was not, when the comment was made it was served almost cold, it was removed however the sides were left to go cold. The same plate of food was returned obviously put in something like a microwave to re heat. This is not how a restaurant of this supposed quality should be operating. The waiting staff were the only redeeming factor of this visit. I can only imagine the owner has lost complete interest in the running of the establishment. If you want a mediocre meal with good service i can recommend it.

Bad first (not that bad ..😆) A bit old and dated, dispite the newish tile panelling Batter was nice but a little oily on the fish (soaked into the batter) The good.. HUGE battered fish - (suggest you just get the small one) cooked perfectly Sirloin steak was tender and cooked perfectly (ordered medium) I was pleasantly surprised on the quality, as it's a basic takeaway with a restaurant attached and it was under £20, so no top steak restaurant - but kudos to the chef, best £20 steak I've had, and better than some classier $$$$ places I've been, For that £20 I also got onion rings (perfect), salad - quality greens, few cut up bits of capsicum a couple of mushrooms, tomato, fried tomato too and plenty of chips cooked perfectly and very nice. (but best chips in UK I've had is at Lochgilphead - Scotland) Constructive criticism only - I was VERY happy given the price, Way better than a lot of places I've been to so far in the UK, and would definitely eat the same dishes again. Staff were friendly... This is at the end of the tourist season too. (Oct'24)

Me & my partner came here on 5/9/24 on a very rainy day. We both grabbed a little drink and a treat here and relaxed in the lovely cafe after a long wet walk from Croyde bay. The staff here were wonderful and all really lovely! The millionaires shortbread was the best I’ve ever had and the cheesy chips were delicious! There is a wide variety of drinks to choose from, both hot and cold. Really lovely vibes and will definitely come here again!
