Absolutely PHENOMENAL pasties. We had a Traditional and a Beef and Stilton (although there were about fifteen to choose from - they're on rotation in and out of the oven so you may need to hang about for a minute or two and be patient - just sit on the wall and enjoy the view for a bit). Not over-priced (£4.95 each) and well worth the money. Piping hot out of the oven with thin, crispy and well-made pastry; the contents absolutely stuffed in! Such incredibly friendly and helpful service - marked up the bags so we knew what was what. If we didn't live four hours away, we'd be back to stock up the freezer!

After a long walk to waters meet popped into Lynmouth. As we walked passed The Bake House and the smell was amazing. I just had to stop and test the pasties. Well I had the traditional steak pastie. I can honestly say it’s one of the best pasties I’ve had in a very long while and I’ve eaten a lot 😂. The gentleman serving was so polite it was a pleasure to talk to him. These pasties are not brushed with egg so safe if you have an egg allergy. The filling was just right good amount of steak and vegetables and not dry like some you get. I washed it down with a latte which was a perfect end to a loverly day. There was a queue but service was very good so we didn’t have to wait long but it was well worth the wait.

My partner and I came down to Watersmeet to hike the trail to the hunting lodge, and afterwards parked in town and needed something to eat. We walked past the pasty shop thinking we’d get an afternoon tea, but the smell of this place was so amazingly good, we doubled back. We ordered the lamb and mint, ham and cheddar, and chicken, bacon and chorizo pasties. I think my mouth might be permanently burned because not only were they incredibly fresh and hot, I didn’t want to stop eating regardless of the heat. There are some 1* reviews on here but they are not fair, and are mostly from people whining about not being treated like royalty. They need to get over themselves cause these pasties are insanely good. I’d come back to Lynmouth just to sit in the sun on the rocks and eat these pasties again.

Purchased pasties for a group of 8, service from front of house was great, polite, patient and very helpful as some of the choices were not available. Pasties we’re very tasty, sausage rolls were ok. The thing that disappointed however, was the attitude of one of the more mature female staff members who had come outside for a cigarette break whilst we were all sat down in a public area eating the food just purchased from the shop they work in. Having just spent £45, we didn’t not expect to have to hear a very loud sigh and a grumble of “bl**!! tourists in the way” as the area with a bench and wishing well asking for donations was occupied with our group including 4 young hungry children! I’m very sorry that we were sat in “a staff” break area, but had we known that this was a space clearly for “staff” use only we would not have sat there, not that there was any indication that this was a private area owing to the fact of the well asking for public donations and a phone box library. We had, as tourists wrongly assumed that this was a public seating area! Obviously the lovely little shop here does not need to rely on tourists as would your wage! Yes, dealing with customers whilst working can be frustrating if rude or difficult and we all have bad days (8 years retail experience), but to be doing nothing more than eating, I think that is quite rude on your part and not a good advertisement for an otherwise lovely little outlet in Lynton. Sometimes it’s best to vent out of earshot of your customers or take a break away from your ‘much loved tourists’.

Specifically asked for brown bread - this was made very clear and I ended up with white bread which I cannot eat due to dietary requirements. This came to no surprise as the girl behind the till really did not appear to be listening to our order and didn’t bother repeating this back - basic customer service skills are not apparent here. We also waited for approximately 20 minutes whilst customers who arrived and ordered after us had their food made before ours. Very disappointing as the shop itself looks very appealing.

I purchased a gluten free steak pasty from the Bakehouse on Thursday. After a long wait ( presume for it to be heated) I tucked in.The pasty was supposed to have steak but I only found one very small piece !! I would describe it as a potato pasty as that appeared to be its only filling. No onion or seasoning, nothing to give it any flavour. This pasty was just bland and boring potato !Would never purchase again.

We stopped for a pasty. We ordered a chicken and chorizo in one and a traditional (whispers ‘Cornish’?). Both were good with decent amounts of filling and sauce/gravy. When we walked back past we topped off a healthy lunch with an ice cream. Mrs B enjoyed Lotus Biscoff with a lump of clotted cream on top, while Mr B had double chocolate. Both were good and creamy. We were surprised to find this open due to the current climate and had pasties, one of which was vegan (curry/mango chutney type) and was delicious, a veggie one (cheese and veg) which was also nice, and a meat one (chicken and chorizo) that was good. An option for everyone. A couple days later we returned for hot dogs, a vegan one which was incredible, a curry one also great and they were all served with chips, crisps, salad and the baguette. Well worth the money. Nice coffee too.

The best pasty I’ve ever had! I wasn’t all that fussed about pasty’s, I’ve always found them to be dry. But this one...my god! My husband was dying for a pasty and stopped off in Lynmouth for some chips so he was delighted when he also nabbed the last vegan pasty from here. It smelled so good, I was grateful he let me try a bit and then we ended up sharing it because I couldn’t get enough. I will be raving about this pasty for days and potentially the rest of my life. We arrived in the middle of lunchtime to be told that there were no pasties at all! This was at 1.15 on a fairly busy Monday. There were plenty of people around in Lynmouth and the weather was beautiful so it was surprising that they were so unprepared. We returned 45 mins later when we were told that more pasties would be available. We ordered and paid as we were pretty determined to eat lunch by then. The eating area was a real mess. Every table was covered in discarded food, dirty plates, cutlery etc. Were the people serving bothered? No! Neither member of staff looked busy and one even went off for a fag break! I felt that they were quite happy for potential customers to take one look and walk out again as they wouldn't have to serve them. Bearing in mind that we had already paid and were waiting at a table one came over and asked us if we were waiting for food! Disinterested doesn't really do the service justice. Our pasties were ok. There is obviously a lack of competition in Lynmouth for 'sit down' pasties. Really poor.

One was brought to the table but they told us they hadn’t got another one! Decided to share the lone one and requested a refund for the other. Took three requests before they finally, begrudgingly gave it us back. Don’t bother with this place there are far better places where your custom is valued. Need to pull your socks up and train your staff better or you will lose your reputation.

When eating in, you still have to wait in the queue outside. So, if you want an ice cream as well, you either order it at the same time as the pasty and have it melt, or go back outside after you've eaten the pasty and queue up again.

This place needs renaming as we were told it was takeaway only when we reached the front of a very slow queue! On ordering we were told they had run out of some pasties.

Visited this cafe on Sunday for a much needed snack, ordered beans on toast !! What could be simpler ? What arrived was 2 slices of drip white bread, no butter and clap cold beans on top !!!! When I returned it, the male that served me, wasn't very happy !! he actually said " some people like it like that " !!! , then took it and proceeded to make it again, when it arrived 2 pieces of perfectly toasted bread with butter, and a steaming pot of beans !!! so why didn't he do that in the first place ? I would not leave the 3 members of staff there, in charge of my cafe, they showed no interest, tables were dirty, they did more talking than anything else, therefore I would not go there for anything again.

Lovely pasties and great location. Pots of tea really only do 1 cup but come in proper china. Cups had tea stains and plates, cups had dried on marks and bits where dishwasher has not been effective. Good service.

It was a swift visit to pick up a lite bite for lunch on the go. I had a standard cornish pasty and the spouse a cream tea. The pasty was as nice as any other I have had. Big pieces of the veg content to compliment the meat. You can't make much of a mess of a cream tea but you can make it more memorable. This was with a great scone to complement the little pot of great tasting jam and the clotted cream. Great range of other offerings. Will be happy to make a detour to try other options.

My boyfriend and I visited Lynmouth & Lynton and followed the Watersmeet trail to Lynmouth and searched up & down the high street for somewhere to have lunch. We were exploring the area on our way home from staying in Bude visiting family, on our way back to Essex! We saw the bake house cafe and the meal deal sounded right up our street- a pasty AND a cream tea, which was great value for money and exactly what we wanted! We saw a sign saying takeaway only and asked if we could still do the meal deal, the young girl explained it would be difficult as she'd run out of containers for the scones, she offered us plates if we promised to bring them back! However, she had a change of heart and allowed us to have a table at the back, where we could eat our food with ease. She even put the radio on for us and served us with a huge smile. She made our day in Lynmouth that much more interesting and pleasant, and showed us true cornish hospitality! Thank you very much to that young lady, my boyfriend and I were very grateful for such a wonderful lunch after such a long walk!! It was a little harder walking back with such full tummys though!

We stopped by for some lunch and the food was lovely. We had a pasty each and they were delicious - I personally went for the veggie option and it tasted great. I would recommend taking away if you can as it is cheaper. They also sell lots of fudge which is also delicious!!

It looked lovely from the outside but it wasn’t welcoming at all. The older bar lady was really very rude with poor customer service , service was slow when it wasn’t even that busy I won’t be rushing back

One of the best curries and certainly one of the best beers in town. Clean a tidy, and food served quickly. One of the best Wetherspoons I've visited.

Bad first (not that bad ..😆) A bit old and dated, dispite the newish tile panelling Batter was nice but a little oily on the fish (soaked into the batter) The good.. HUGE battered fish - (suggest you just get the small one) cooked perfectly Sirloin steak was tender and cooked perfectly (ordered medium) I was pleasantly surprised on the quality, as it's a basic takeaway with a restaurant attached and it was under £20, so no top steak restaurant - but kudos to the chef, best £20 steak I've had, and better than some classier $$$$ places I've been, For that £20 I also got onion rings (perfect), salad - quality greens, few cut up bits of capsicum a couple of mushrooms, tomato, fried tomato too and plenty of chips cooked perfectly and very nice. (but best chips in UK I've had is at Lochgilphead - Scotland) Constructive criticism only - I was VERY happy given the price, Way better than a lot of places I've been to so far in the UK, and would definitely eat the same dishes again. Staff were friendly... This is at the end of the tourist season too. (Oct'24)

Me & my partner came here on 5/9/24 on a very rainy day. We both grabbed a little drink and a treat here and relaxed in the lovely cafe after a long wet walk from Croyde bay. The staff here were wonderful and all really lovely! The millionaires shortbread was the best I’ve ever had and the cheesy chips were delicious! There is a wide variety of drinks to choose from, both hot and cold. Really lovely vibes and will definitely come here again!
