Called in at 3pm on a Thursday afternoon to be greeted by the friendliest landlord I’ve ever met. It was a bit of a nostalgia trip as the last time we were there was 1976! We ordered off the sandwich menu & none of us were disappointed, they were all delicious. Wine was good & the boys all agreed the beer was excellent. We will definitely make a detour to vist this hostilary again.

For a tucked-away seemingly small village pub, this place does some of the best food in the area in my view. The choice was extensive but also to amazing quality. I had the Venison burger and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. For dessert I had the creme brûlée and it was equally as tasty. Service was great here and the atmosphere was lovely and extremely oldie-worldie (my favourite kind of pub!) I would highly recommend to try if you’re staying in the area of Georgeham or you live nearby, you won’t be disappointed.

Holidaying locally and really fancied a Sunday roast. After reading a few reviews we thought "OK, can't be that nice, but will give it a go. How wrong we were! Lovely little pub with very welcoming staff. Sat out back of the restaurant in a gorgeous room with grape vines dotted around. The lady who serves us was extremely accommodating providing us with kid sizes portions of main menu meals. Steak and ale pie was amazing says my 10 year old. Other offerings included the curry, and kids spaghetti bol that my 5 year old demolished and promptly fell asleep! We plumped for the roast beef, roast pork and my friend had a mixture of both (also not on menu). Pork was gorgeous as was the cranberry and apricot stuffing, and the beef was cooked to perfection (mooing!) there was a slight mix up with the vegetables being a bit late, but we didn't care. When the sharing board turned up we were greeted with cheesy cauliflower cheese, tasty red cabbage and greens and the most vibrant carrot and Swede puree (my favourite). We couldn't manage a desert as we were totally stuffed. Would highly recommend!

Not a lot of parking but inside of pub is spacious and well planned. We found the food a bit pricey but enjoyable and staff were very pleasant. Dogs are allowed which I don't mind but one was insist on barking and growling at other dogs which did ruin the ambience for diners as no one wants to hear a dog barking constantly, particularly inside where it can echo.

This place was extremely welcoming to a group consisting of two young families and a dog. Particularly as we decided we wanted to move tables after being shown our allocated one. All the staff were very friendly and we're super helpful with requests. The menu has a great selection of food which all looked delicious. I can highly recommend the wild board and venison burger, my group were all very satisfied with their roasts, and the children happily ate from the children's menu. The atmosphere was great and the outdoor seating at the front of the pub was wonderful on a warm sunny day! One thing to note is that parking outside is extremely limited, double parking is encouraged, as long as you notify the bar staff that you are double parked so that they can notify you. There is another community car park a little way up the hill which is a short walk away.

Unfortunately I'd like to give this place no stars, just to keep it quiet, but hey I have to be honest! Probably one of the best most genuine pubs in the area. The beers are great, well served and a good choice including guest ales and ciders. The wine is good too with a good selection to suit most. However the big draw apart from the great historical nature of the pub and very welcoming and friendly staff is the food. A really good creative selection of local and inventive dishes and board enough in range to suit most, including children's adaptations and very clear vegan, veggie and gluten free options. Drawbacks are parking, but hey walk and have an extra drink or two, it's not a big deal as further parking very close. Drop into the rock and have a rocking good time ! We did!

Even the kids chicken goujons were fresh chunky chicken than seemed homemade- kids portions very big too. Food was ok. Not the best I've had but very expensive for what you get, this is a pub, not a restaurant, and I think the owners need to decide on what they are catering for. Crab was dry like it had been kept warm for way too long, and the burger was very overcooked and dry. On the flip, the kids' spaghetti was devoured with clean plates all around. Overall, a B+ for food and location but couldn't help feeling a little, shall we say, 'short changed' by our visit.

The restaurant owner did EVERYTHING to ensure that our meal was exceptional, and that everyone was catered for. The food is 1st class, and the management obviously know the restaurant trade intimately and made sure all the little things were taken care of, just a pleasure to visit - so much so that we had to come back a second night which was equally enjoyable.
