Really friendly staff but no atmosphere to speak of, it was a sunny lunchtime during half term but we seemed to be one of only two tables eating, Food was expensive and sadly not great, some of the chunky chips were hard, had the wild boar and venison burger which was ok but would’ve expected more for the price. The staff were lovely but wouldn’t come again because of the food.

Made our day ! My wife & I had caught the bus from Croyde , to stunningly well kept & picturesque Georgeham , to walk to Putsborough & back to Croyde on the coast path. We enjoyed some time at the beautiful Church & paid our Respects to local People lost in war , as we always do . Finding our way to The Rock , Staff were super polite & friendly , finding a table for us , even though we hadn`t booked ( We felt that the 2 Lads who served us , were a huge asset to the establishment - Thank you for your wonderful customer service skills ) . We enjoyed a delicious lunch of Rock Monsieur & Burger , exceptional quality & superbly presented. I could have stayed & quaffed the wonderfully kept Otter Ale , all day , but my Wife had other plans ! Locals were very friendly , too . A lovely holiday experience. Highly recommended. Tip for other walkers planning a similar excursion - get off the bus at Davids Hill & walk N.N.E. through the car park adjacent to Chapel Street , exiting opposite St George`s Church . This will limit your time on roads , with just a short road walk to The Rock .

A great find on a Saturday evening. Friendly welcome from the bar staff. It was quite busy but we managed to find a table. We had a steak and Otter ale pie and a venison burger with blue cheese and garlic aoli. Both dishes were a decent size and truly delicious. They serve a good range of drinks, and there is seating indoors and outside. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Really disappointed with the food but the service was great… I had the steak pie with chips, the pie was far too watery (more like a stew) this meant that the sauce didn’t stick to the steak making it bland, it was also served in a cast iron pot making it difficult to eat with anything else. The chips were under cooked and also bland. Honestly disappointed as the service was great, really friendly and attentive, maybe just made the wrong choice of food..

Holidaying locally and really fancied a Sunday roast. After reading a few reviews we thought "OK, can't be that nice, but will give it a go. How wrong we were! Lovely little pub with very welcoming staff. Sat out back of the restaurant in a gorgeous room with grape vines dotted around. The lady who serves us was extremely accommodating providing us with kid sizes portions of main menu meals. Steak and ale pie was amazing says my 10 year old. Other offerings included the curry, and kids spaghetti bol that my 5 year old demolished and promptly fell asleep! We plumped for the roast beef, roast pork and my friend had a mixture of both (also not on menu). Pork was gorgeous as was the cranberry and apricot stuffing, and the beef was cooked to perfection (mooing!) there was a slight mix up with the vegetables being a bit late, but we didn't care. When the sharing board turned up we were greeted with cheesy cauliflower cheese, tasty red cabbage and greens and the most vibrant carrot and Swede puree (my favourite). We couldn't manage a desert as we were totally stuffed. Would highly recommend!

Oh dear. I think this is the worst food I’ve had for some time. The so called ‘posh fish finger sandwich’ arrived uncooked and flaccid, obviously having been dunked in cold oil. On the second attempt, there was no seasoning and grease dripped on every bite. The tea was made with less than boiling water out of a machine so was tepid. We fed most of it to our two daschunds. £20 for this - really?
