Spacious and comfortable dining area with a beautiful view across the Cotswolds. The house wines were suprisingly acceptable.

We loved the food here during our recent, three night stay. The restaurant is spacious and tastefully appointed and tables are well spaced. Staff are really attentive throughout the hotel, but I must single out Alex, from the bar who could not do enough for us and took a genuine interest in all of the guests. He made some great cocktails too! The managers and waiting staff were also wonderful and the food was generally outstanding. Highlights were a starter of perfectly cooked sweetbreads and some of the moistest, tastiest chicken breast I have ever had. There is an extensive wine list with something to tempt every palate.

My wife and I went to The Greenway to celebrate my 50-something Birthday. There is no need to go into what we actually ate etc. What I would like to say is the Greenway is a stunning place to go, well the Queen Mother can't be wrong can she. She used to always stay here when she came to the Cheltenham Races. The service was impeccable and the food very plesant and good value for money. I only had 2 courses and couldn't even fit a coffee in afterwards. Thank you for making the meal so special.

We had book a four day visit to The Greenway recently. Normally, we take all or most of our evening meals in the country house hotel in which we stay. Prior to our visit, I read numerous reviews of the restaurant and had concerns. For that reason we advanced booked only the first evening. That was more than enough. Its a shame to waste a nice setting with a mediocre dining experience. As others have noted, the bread was stale. My wife and I both had venison, which was accompanied by an indistinguishable venison related side dish. This just seems to be a restaurant where average meats are prepared with sauces and froo-froo. Our server was very nice and tried hard, but did not appear well trained or supervised. Sadly, we dined the next three nights elsewhere, going to Cheltenham and Painswick, where we found excellent dining.

Went for dinner as large group. No one in our group raved about the food. Although well prepared there seems to be an over-reliance on fancy cooking techniques with the sum not adding up to the individual parts. With so more emphasis on locally sources ingredients I would just let them shine rather than push to have too many unnecessary flavours on the plate. Marigolds really don't add much to a dish! Far too expensive to rate highly. Staff were generally very attentive to our table but the receptionist was rude and dismissive both when checking in and trying to pay.

A very mixed experience as we had expected a lot better. We have stayed and dined at Mallory Court and Brockencote Hall both of which were significantly better experiences than here. Canapes were excellent and amuse bouche really good, only white bread on offer as nothing else had been delivered - if so they should be baking their own! Pressed skate starter was so cold as to devoid of flavour, both mains were good but not outstanding but the sticky toffee pudding was so tough it needed a knife to cut it. Compared to Mallory Court, were we dine often, this was very disappointing. Staff were lovely and service was good but this meal was nowhere near as good as we expected.

We had been given a voucher for a lunch here and it was a real treat. The service was excellent and the food was fabulous. The only thing that let it down was the price of the wine. I had a 125ml of Rioja and my wife had a 175ml glass of Chardonnay - £18.80 for that! I pride myself on knowing a bit about wines and these were not in the league that these prices commanded. I suppose we shouldn't complain as it took the waitress 3 attempts to get the bill correct and we were the ones saying that things were missing off it, and even then, they forgot to charge for 2 glasses of sherry which we had all forgotten about until we got home.

Slow service (but restaurant not busy), small portions (and food not as described on menu) as well as rather overpriced. Our promised drinks never turned up. 10% service automatically added to bill. Not up to Ellenborough Park's standard. Nice venue and location, though. Grounds attractive and well-tended. Probably better for a drink on a summer's evening rather than fine dining in the restaurant.

We pre-booked the Greenway for a business dinner. Everything about the experience was fantastic. From the moment we arrived, until we left, we were treated as if we were the only guests in the entire restaurant (we were not). While the entire party arrived, we were seated in a very comfortable living room and offered our customized menu and drinks. When the majority of the team arrived, we went to a large dining room where dinner was served in three courses. The staff were ever present, but not overbearing. The meals for all 14 of us seemed to appear all at the same time. Everything from the appetizer thru desert was delicious. I had risotto which was cooked perfectly. My business guest next to me quite literally cleaned his desert plate. It was a memorable evening with great food and delicious wine. I look forward to finding a reason to go back for a formal dinner. We were there for nearly 5 hours, but the time passed quickly and the chairs were comfortable.

We visited on a Monday lunchtime utilising an excellent offer from Amazon Local. We have visited The Greenway many times for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner and once again we were not disappointed. The set menu offers 3 good choices for each course and we had no trouble finding dishes for the 4 of us. As we all chose the spiced neck of lamb we ordered a bottle of Malbec (recommended by the restaurant and just £21) which was delicious. Between us we chose all the sweets and everyone was very happy with their dish. We took coffee in the lounge to round off a very relaxed and enjoyable meal. The food and service were excellent. We will return.

I took my mother for Sunday lunch and hadn't been to the Greenway for some time . I thought it would be quiet and relaxed given my mother is hard of hearing. The food was pleasant but the atmosphere was dreadful . People walking through the dining room in robes going I assume to their Spa. Worst of all there was a large party in an adjoining room who spilled out into the dining room and we had to endure 6+ people stood next to us whilst we where eating taking loudly , children wandering around . Any decent establishment would have been aware and managed the situation . Instead the somewhat OTT restaurant Manager added to the negative experience by us having to listen to his loud inane pampering of the large group. When asked at reception had I enjoyed my meal I did liken it to eating in a Railway Station .

Lunch for 4 friends at what is clearly an 'up-market' restaurant and, as such, is on the pricey side. The views/surroundings/buildings can but be admired and the service was excellent. As for the food - well, in truth, the quality was excellent but the quantity was less than we all would have liked. It's the sort of place that you'd go to for a special occasion - one for which 'value-for-money' is less important.

Booked here for a Sunday dinner with a Living Social deal. We had a fantastic meal for two. This is fine dining, a bit pretentious with a blob of this and that, but great all the same. We paid £40 for two three course meals which was good value. We would not go here to pay the full price, it's just not worth it. The service was excellent except for the waiter forgetting our drinks order. So one star less for that. The portions were small but overall the three courses filled us up. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, worth a visit if you can get a deal. We paid extra for the coffees and drinks which were not included. You could easily pay £120 for two people with wine.

Four of us arrived promptly for a 7.30pm reservation. We waited a few moments the the Maître D came out of the dining room and told us to wait in the bar and someone would bring us a menu. Someone arrived and took a drinks order and brought menus. The venison was finished and the only meat dish left was duck. No problem we all liked duck. They took us through to the restaurant at 8.10pm but it was 8.30 before our starters arrived. Scallops and cod cheeks. Well the scallops were superb, beautifully cooked and the cod cheeks.....they were missing. The duck arrived 45 Mins after they cleared the starters - a little slow. Mine was excellent but my husband had the two ends cut from mine. I think there were two duck breasts between the four of us. The fois gras that accompanied it was a delight. I ordered the pear soufflé for dessert as pear is a favourite of mine. This was a huge disappointment. It was not a soufflé but was a soft meringue browned on the top. There was not the slightest trace of pear or even the egg yoke come to that. My husband had more success with the cheese. There was an excellent choice of cheeses with grapes, celery and chutney and a great selection of biscuits. One small irritation during the evening was the music, marginally too loud, an album of Frank Sinatra hits. The third time it played on a loop Frank had lost his appeal. The staff were plentiful but service was in short supply. In all, it was not up to the standard I was expecting from its reputation.

I've been to the Greenway several times over the years - it's always been somewhere we went for a special occasion. On our last two visits the service has been terrible - waiting 15 minutes before we were acknowledged by the waiter, who then forgot our drinks twice. Other things, such as the bread coming out at the same time as the starter, being given a glass of port with debris in and having to wait 5 minutes just to flag a waiter down in the small restaurant really ruined the experience. As usual the food was lovely, but they also now no longer entrees or pre-desserts, which meant we were still hungry at the end of the three course set meal. Not great, especially when there are so, so many other great restaurants in the area.

We went in Feb for a big birthday. The service was appalling. The waitresses had no interest or knowledge of the food they served. Seabass for 5 persons of our group were served raw and went it was sent back our plates was sent back resembling scrambled dinner. As a group we sat with our wine glasses empty for big periods of time having to wait for top-ups as the wine was put on a different table in the corner of the room. Overall extremely disappointing. I think the lack of a supervisor was very obvious as service were just very unprofessional and poor.

They served little nibbles in the drawing room whilst you browse the menu then then take you through to your table. The waitresses were very attentive and the bread was lovely (we had double-twice!) My husband and I stayed at the Greenway Hotel and decided to have dinner at the restaurant on our first night. At over £50 per person for a three course meal, my expectations were for good food in small portions and good service. To be fair the service was good. And the portions were small. The food, however, was generally poor. I had scallops for starter and they were ok, but nothing more than that. My husband ordered a tomato consomme with a dumpling of some sort. The consomme was tasteless and while the dumpling was apparently nice, it was tiny. I ordered aubergines with feta cheese and baby vegetables as a main course and while the presentation was lovely, it was absolutely tasteless. It seemed to lack any sort of seasoning. My husband's cod also looked good but was severely lacking in flavour. We then shared a dessert platter and I have to admit that the poached pear, the souffle and orange ice cream were delicious. However, but that stage we were so disappointed with the food that the desserts did little to cheer us up. We left hungry and disappointed. I've been to plenty of good restaurants and while this one tries very hard it just wasn't great.
