The best restaurants serving British food in South East

What a gem of a place! Beautiful courtyard, very busy. The man serving was friendly we had a large cafetière and sat in the sun. Scones looked fab but we were out for lunch so didn’t indulge. Will definitely go again , a lovely place.

First time at the The Works Cafe for breakfast. The service was excellent especially from Chloe and Donna. The breakfast was amazing. Will definitely be going back!

This is the second time I have ordered a cake from Sweet Passion Cakes and I've been blown away again. This time I ordered a bespoke baptism cake (Belgian chocolate). Ordering is so easy, I sent across some design and colour palette ideas and the rest I left in their creative hands. WOW! Absolutely stunning cake, delicious and the perfect centre piece. Myself & my partner had an amazing meal at the BCot restaurant! Really high quality food in creation, taste & presentation! Having been a student at the catering college 39 years ago it was a great experience seeing what these young chefs are capable of & brought back many fabulous memories (albeit a much different interior) Our waiter Matt, did himself proud, having only just left school & only his 3rd service! Can’t believe I haven’t been more often & hope to in the future & see the confidence & skills of the students develop further!

This was my first ever menu tasting and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Our waiter was Josh who was a bit nervous to begin with as it was his first time waiting at table but soon began to relax and did an excellent job. The food was exceptional and was a very enjoyable evening.

Debbie and the team provided platters for our wake at a nearby pub to celebrate my mums life. She was so friendly and helpful, understanding our order perfectly and giving us the perfect selection of baguettes, even taking them to the pub so we didn’t have to worry about the logistics of getting it there on a difficult day. Thank you so much Debbie. I would highly recommend this company and everyone loved the selection.

Bowley's is truly an outstanding restaurant situated in a lovely country pub, run by a team who clearly love what they do. Locally sourced, fresh ingredients turned into mouth watering dishes which we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff's attention to detail is second to none and they catered for our Dietary requirements with ease and professionalism at short notice. My husband really enjoyed his Birthday here. I can't recommend Bowley's enough and we'll be back sooner than later.

We met local friends for a birthday lunch (our trains were cancelled so we ended up driving, and made the ferry with minutes to spare). It was absolutely brilliant. The staff looked after us excellently, the food was amazing, the decor and view were like the pictures. So many interesting things to watch on the beach. We all said we would happily come back again. Excellent food and service. Know their regulars well. The coffee and breakfast are recommended, as are the wide variety of cakes.

I often come here for morning coffee with friends and we are normally very happy with the coffee, but the last couple of times we have all agreed that the coffee is not as good as it used to be. Is it a different kind of coffee or do you have a new Barista? It is always very busy when we come so perhaps the coffee making has just been a bit rushed? I wonder whether anyone else has said anything. Hope it was just a blip as we love everything else about the cafe.

The quality of everything here is exceptional! Superb menu, everything is high quality, delicious flavours and quality ingredients. The pricing is always excellent value and the food consistently first class with every visit. Excellent coffee too. Lucky to have this place close by!

We enjoyed another lovely meal at the Red Lion. The interiors, welcome and general atmosphere are warm and inviting. Good Oxfordshire beers, Laithwaites wines and hearty dishes are the main elements of the dining experience. I think since our last visits there are less flourishes, but there remain some lovely surprises, like the feta bonbon with the lamb rump. Leave some room for dessert as the delice is amazing. At the weekend booking is essential.

We booked Avenue 141 for a birthday celebration. The evening was huge success.From the canapés to the desserts, the meal was delicious. The student staff were attentive and professional and nothing was too much trouble, especially considering we were a large group. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and I cannot recommend it highly enough Thank you for a memorable evening Avenue 141
