Hiraeth in The Vale of Glamorgan

I ate here with family the night before a family wedding. Alongside out group of 14, there was another group around d the same size if not larger and some couples dining as well. The food was out of this world. I had pan fried seabream with a colcannon mash, absolutely beautiful, fresh and light. Dessert was a rich chocolate mousse, with rum and raisin ice cream and beautifully homemade cinder toffee. Again absolutely gorgeous, rich and a lovely finish to the meal. This is sadly Hiraeth's last week in Bridgend before the boys relocate to Cardiff in the Autumn, so whilst initially it seemed that service was slow it turned out that both chefs had been let down by the waiting staff who hadn't turned up. One chef remained in the kitchen cooking up a storm and waiting tables, whilst the other tended bar, took orders, brought drinks, checked we were OK and did all the other jobs outside of the kitchen. We had a great night, the food and ambience was delicious, both Chefs attentive and considerate despite the circumstances they found themselves in and the whole atmosphere was chatty and happy. Will definitely be going back when Horaeth reopens in Cardiff and absolutely recommend. Beautiful food, attentive hosts and a lovely environment. We wanted to try something different for our friends birthday gift. Hiraeth was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. The 7 course taster menu was exquisite and was so much better than any restaurant I have ever visited. The pairing wines with each course complemented so well. It was a real treat and wonderful for a special occasion. We will certainly be back to try the regular menu. Food, atmosphere and service was excellent. We were a large group of friends, the service and food were exceptional! Three course Sunday lunch, so much food. We had people in the group that were held up and the staff were so accommodating with bringing out the food at different times. Would highly recommend!!

We stayed at Court Coleman for our 10th wedding anniversary, as we held our wedding reception here too. We decided to try this restaurant, and all I can say is WOW! It was the tastiest food I've had in a very long time. Service from the staff just impeccable, all very happy and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this stunning restaurant and I can't wait to visit again. Thank you all for a memorable, beautiful evening ♥️

Great food in their new home. We had been to Hiraeth a few times for Sunday lunch, and also for the taster menu. We were so saddened that they had to leave the venue, but delighted to learn they were now in Court Colman Manor. We had a wonderful evening here. The food as ever is imaginative, tasty, and simply delightful. We will certainly visit time and time again.

Went for the full tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed. Cured trout was a personal favourite, my partner found the beetroot with kombucha particular interesting. Parsnip ice cream as smooth as you like with earthy notes which complemented the sweet honeycomb and bitter sweet dark chocolate was another highlight. All in all a fab meal!

Thank you for the Welsh welcome in this lovely setting of Colman Court Hotel. The weather had been stormy and our drive into Wales delayed, so we were tired and hungry when we arrived and had no expectation of the quality of food or experience we were about to receive, which was superb. A warm welcome from the staff, yes it was fine to bring in our golden retriever, and yes we can offer gluten free options, and for yourself dairy free options. The atmosphere was bright and customers animated. Menu varied and lamb and desserts delicious and beautifully presented. Not over priced. Would recommend the whole dining experience to anyone and just want to thank the staff and owners for a lovely, memorable evening. Superb!

Had a lovely lunch at their new location at Court Colman Manor Hotel in Bridgend. We had the £20 two course special and di a bit of "mix and match" with snacks starters ( croquettes, leeks, cauliflower cheese and chunky chips and main ( chicken)and finished off with their delicious home made ice cream. Portions were about right and presentation was good. Service was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend for a special lunch treat.

Yet another amazing visit to Hiraeth to enjoy their glorious food. We had the December tasting menu which was sublime. The cooking is amazing, the service fabulous. If you want to treat yourselves or for a special occasion then this is the place to go.

This was a Friday lunchtime visit. We were seated in the dining area near the fire. The other part of the dining area was empty, but for some reason we were seated right next to another table with dinners on. It was to close for comfort and privacy. Especially later, when another table was also taken on the other side also. We could hear all their conversations and visa versa, which wasnt good as you could hear a pin drop. It felt very uncomfortable. I dont understand why they did this, as there was more room in the other part of the restaurant, which would of been more private. Its a pity as we enjoyed the food, but the atmosphere was uncomfortable being seated right on top of others like that when there was no need. We chose off the Short Course Taster Menu. Which was 5 courses £40. The Starter was snacks. Baguette. Cultured butter. Scallop roe emulsion Boquerones. Caramelised pear. Beetroot. Perl las tartlet .ceviche . For the Main It was Venison. The Desert was St Emillion. Also there were Jam Donunts. The presentation and preparation was very good and tasted delicious. We chose a bottle of the Calusari red. Which complimented the meal well. The service was ok but our glasses were only to filled up once by the server and other then bringing the courses it wasnt that attentive. We poured our own water also and werent asked. So although we enjoyed the food the seating to close to others and the service could of been more attentive were the minus points.

We had the vegan tasting menu and have to say it was probably the best tasting menu ever. Brilliant, beautiful well thought out food. The mushroom ceviche was on another level. And as for the lions mane and celeriac… Divine. An absolute find. 👏👏👏👏

We recently visited Hiraeth and I geninely have nothing but lovely things to say. The staff were welcoming, the restaurant was snug and cozy feeling- you’d expect nothing less when you consider this place’s name. The table setting was lovely with a small vase of dried flowers which didn;t take up too much space (thankfully, as we needed room for all the delicious side dishes!) and the most incredible wooden cutler holders - I really need to know where I can get myself some of those! The a la Carte set menu is priced well, and it's what we went for on this visit. After snacking on delightfully crispy cracking with a bitter-sweet apple sauce dip I started with mackerel pate which I'm so glad was recommended (everything sounded too good and I couldn't decide for myself). I followed the mackerel with the day boat fish dish and a chocolate fondant to finish. My fish dishes were faultless and I'd be back for more in a heartbeat. We won't mention that we had a bit of a wait for pudding as the first chocolate fondant accidentally made its way onto the kitchen floor - gave me a laugh but not sure the staff were impressed haha. My partner went for a beef main and quote 'had the best mashed potato of his life'. Thanks for making him so happy chefs!! I backed Hiraeth when they were first opening this venue on Kickstarter almost a year ago... and as the first backer got offered a free glass of fizz, after so long I was so surprised that they remembered and brought it to the table for us at the start of the meal - such a lovely kind gesture. Just gutted we didn’t go sooner as I wish I'd already tried so much more of what Hiraeth have to offer.

Our first visit to Hiraeth, but it won't be our last! When we arrived, we had drinks in the bar - a draught pint of local IPA and a gin & tonic. For a small bar, there were plenty of options available. We then had the 9-course taster menu (£70 / head), which included a wide range of ingredients done in several different ways for each course. Too many different things to name, but particular favourites were the Cerviche of Gurnard (really clean taste), the home-grown Pottimarron presented in multiple ways, the chicken thigh stuffed with some of the caesar salad ingredients, the chicken breast with mushrooms and pearl barley, and the chocolate with wood sorrel puree. The restaurant offers matched wines for £45 / head but we decided to have a glass of white wine then share a bottle of red. All the wines can be ordered by the glass, so we chose a couple from the wine pairings - a lovely Spanish Gewurtztraminer followed by a Chinese (yes, Chinese!) Pinot Noir. That was an eye-opener and a really good match for the whole meal, but particularly the chicken dishes that it was being paired with on the menu. Service was good throughout the evening. We started at 6.30 so the staff were able to chat to us more then, but even when the restaurant was full later, they still engaged really well with us. We left with a goodie bag of marshmallows and chocolate praline, which I suspect may also have been home-made. All in all, a lovely evening of great food in a relaxed, comfortable environment.

This is a fantastic little restaurant tucked away in one of Wales lovely villages. The staff are really friendly, the food is great and I would recommend it in a heartbeat. Well Done.

This is a beautiful location, a beautiful property, an amazing menu, and very charming hosts!! Highly recommended!! We have visited here a number of times and it is by far our most favourite place. The food is absolutely incredible and the staff are always lovely. Today when I turned up a week early for my booking (by accident) it was dealt with calmly and a table was found for us. I cannot wait to dine here again and again. Go support this small business you won't be disappointed.
