The Boathouse Fisheries in Shepway

Visited Sat 27 March, excellent Rock &,chips, bought some cockles and was gifted some salmon croute, lovely people, fish fresh and selection & products to die for. Will visit again! Thanks, made my day, my best, Mark

On the way home from a drive along the coast we stopped off at The Boathouse Fisheries. Great selection of fresh fish and seafood, and very friendly and helpful service!We bought monkfish, scallops, delicious whelks, dressed crab , crab fritters and a lovely slice of salmon quiche.We’ll be back!

Well what can I say the Boathouse fisheries you could not wish for fresher fish cooked fresh from the wet fish counter and always cooked to perfection the chips are also great. We recommend going to the Boathouse fisheries 100% you won't be disappointed. The staff are always great very friendly and helpful.

Although we weren't able to sit down and dine (due to you-know-what), the Boathouse still prepares delicious seafood meals to take out (and eat on the beach which is 5 minutes away), and its fresh seafood made us realise just how poor supermarket-bought alternatives are in comparison. We're seriously considering driving down from London just to buy the seafood!

During the lockdown we’ve had a delivery from the boathouse and the service was excellent. We’ve used the fish shop since it opened and the fish is always of the highest quality and the staff always very pleasant. It’s just what we needed in SMB/Dymchurch. We have used both the delivery service and personal shopping. Looking forward to stocking up again this week.

The Boathouse does the most amazing selection of fish to buy and also has the most amazing prawns cooked in chilli jam I've ever had. The fish finger baguette is also home made cod in batter taking your average fish finger to another level - SO GOOD. 5 stars to The Boathouse and the amazing family that run it now. Thank you.

We recommend going to the Boathouse 100% for your fish everything is so fresh. They do the best fish and chips for miles around. They have a few tables inside. The service is fantastic from all the staff. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

I used to use these guys when they were based in Hythe and if anything they've got better. The fish from the counter is 1st class and you can ask them to get certain items in for you if they're not usually stocked. The little seating area is not that big, but the food won't take long to devour when it's put in front of you! Even simple dishes like whitebait are well executed, with great tartare sauce and a plentiful salad garnish and lovely salad dressing. If you're off to the beach in Dymchurch or New Romney, they're well worth a visit. I travel from Hythe (normally by bike) to get fish from there as it's the best around here by a mile.

What superb fish! Bought salmon and lemon sole to cook at home and enjoyed the best seafood tagliatelle ever for lunch at the Boathouse. How lucky we are to live within travelling distance of such a fantastic place.

What a place this is. I’m heading back as soon as I can, home cooking. Couldn’t be fresher and prices are daftly reasonable. I hold my hat off to the family there

We have been customers of The Boathouse since it opened ... purchasing shellfish, fish, celebration platters to more recently their fish n chips. They never fail .... everything is prepared beautifully and wonderfully fresh. The fish n chips was simply delicious, the batter like no other I have ever tasted ... superb! Visit... you will not be disappointed

I used trip advisor to suggest somewhere for lunch in St Mary's Bay. Following directions on the sat nav you end up in the most unlikely small row of shops and tucked in the corner is the fishmongers. Just as people say they'll cook anything on the slab for you and you can eat it on their little tables inside or outside. Well cooked and delicious. We'll certainly be going back.

We had a fantastic lunch, kipper in a roll with chips and a delicious dressed crab salad. Modest surroundings hide a superb value for money experience. Friendly and helpful staff who will cook any fish from the counter for you to enjoy. Extensive selection of fresh fish available.

We sat at a little table in this clean and brightly painted fish restaurant. It’s very small but perfectly formed! I had delicious freshly cooked king prawns with ginger and my son had a lobster salad. Extreme good value at £6.95 for the lobster! It was delicious and arrived with warm French bread and butter.

After a chance meeting and chat with another dogwalker on the beach, I decided to see if this place could possibly be as good as they said it was. Readers, it was even better! On walking in, I thought I'd made a big mistake, as what I could see was an extensive counter full of beautifully fresh looking wet fish and people sitting at tables. There was no smell of frying at all. But my order was taken and cooked to perfection in a very short time. I had skate (very unusual without prior ordering nowadays) for the same very reasonable price as cod, hake etc and no messing with different sizes of chip portions. The batter was crisp and light, as were the chips. Thoroughly enjoyable...I just wish I'd been in the area longer so I could try more dishes from their wonderful menu. I'd definitely go there again.

Really lovely fresh fish and seafood! I LOVED my dressed crab & delicious salad. I wanted to add some whelks: no problem! My wife does not eat fish and the halloumi was not available: no problem! She got a fantastic feta salad! Lisa is generous and easy going. Oh and the chips!! Perfect! I bought wood smoked salmon to take away: OMG!! The best ever! No pretence, only good people and good food in a simple setting. Very good value. I highly recommend The Boathouse Fisheries and will no doubt go back for more.

First visit today, won't be my last. Purchased one piece of fresh salmon and smoked salmon roll filled with prawns and creamed cheese. Both were the best I have ever eaten. A little salmoned out tonight but absolutely delicious. I can definately recommend.

Love following local artisan businesses and had seen the boathouse on Facebook, finally my wife and I had a moment to visit for lunch today . This is all about simple but great quality produce, followed by excellent cooking, all in simple non Pretentious surroundings. Excellent plaice Boom Boom highly recommended and excellent VFM too, with very friendly staff what is their not to like

The fresh fish are amazing here, the staff are very friendly and lovely and are always there to answer any questions for you. Always lovely to see and support the little businesses, well done :)

Had the dressed crab outstanding quality, the tasty was amazing and excellent value for money. The staff there where very welcoming and friendly.

Had tagliatelle and Paul had fish soup it was delicious will be back to try another dish soon will recommend to all to try

I regularly visit the boathouse fisheries, the staff are friendly and so helpful, nothing is ever too much for them! The quality of their fish is out of this world and they will happily order anything! The new eat in or takeaway service is so tasty! I highly recommend the dressed crab salad! Absolutely amazing quality and service!
