We went to Folkestone on a wet, windswept day and as we wanted something different, found this restaurant. We started with mugs of builders Tea while awaiting our stir fries which were cooked very nicely by Anna. Good fresh food and a great pleasure chatting with Anna who has a great sense of humour. We will return again soon hopefully. Love David and Annette xx

What a fantastic little restaurant....why? First and foremost, the food is superb. Authentic ingredients and flavours at very reasonable prices, not to mention the portion sizes are enormous! Secondly the owners are so friendly, you really feel welcome and that they are genuinely interested in your opinions of the dishes. They open lunchtimes for Thai and English food options and evenings at the end of the week for Thai only. I can't recommend them highly enough, I left feeling so satisfied and with a smile on my face.

Casually walking past this restaurant and decided to eat here...what a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon we all had. A gem of a place with the most amazing fresh home cooked food I have ever tasted. Anna and her husband could not have been more accommodating. They are a fantastic and humorous couple who welcome you with open arms. We promise to be back and spread the word...all the best for the future and keep this great restaurant going from strength to strength. Thankyou for your warmth on a wet and windy day.

I was in Folkestone one lunchime and saw the sign outside for Thai food. The lovely owners came out and asked what I wanted. I tried the green chicken curry with rice. It was the most delicious Thai curry I have had for years in the UK and It was a good sized portion. It is a shame they only open at lunchtimes but I hope to be in Folkestone more often in the daytime and try some more of their other Thai dishes.

Having lived in Folkestone for 2 years I have only just discovered this little Thai gem. The food is excellent and authentic. My chicken panang curry was delicious as was my partners Green curry. Very reasonably priced too. It’s a shame they are only for lunch but totally understandable as they have been there for many many years. If you like Thai food I highly recommend a visit

Anna and her husband (I think his name is Tony) came to our home last night (Saturday 1 July 2023) and cooked the most fantastic meal for 24 of us - it was a milestone birthday celebration. Some of our friends have had Anna’s food before when we invited her to cook on other occasions for us, and some of them are new to it. Everyone loved it. Once again we were provided with the most fantastic, out of this world, food. It’s the best Thai food that I’ve ever had. Anna was concerned that everyone didn’t eat much but the portions that were served were extremely generous. I had made some puddings to have after our main course but everyone was so stuffed that the puddings ended up in the freezer - even my go to lemon mousse cake, which is always the first pudding to disappear, didn’t make an impact on anyone!! Anna is currently struggling with her back but she still managed to cook her beautiful food and we’re so grateful to her. They’re a really lovely, friendly couple and make you feel as though you’re eating in their own home. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Well done to both of you for making our evening such a success.

We had our first lunch at Food For Thought today, and I see first because there will be definitely many. The food was incredible (we had vegan and chicken curries), the portions were super big and really fulfilling, the interior is beautiful. But most importantly, the staff was so friendly, welcoming, and creating home and cosy atmosphere. It's a couple who's been running a restaurant since the 80s in Folkestone and I'm sure it's only getting more amazing. I wish they were open all day (the opening hours right now are quiet limited, 12-3) but it's a perfect lunch place and leaves you wanting more :)

Fantastic food and very good service. The starters of shared platter was very tasty with lots of different flavors and well recommended. Main courses were also full of flavor and the service throughout was very very good. Would recommend to friends and visit again. Probably the best Thai Meal I've had.

We are fairly new to the area and decided to call in for lunch after reading previous positive reviews. I'm glad that I had read the positive feedback otherwise I may not have gone in if I had been just passing. The decor is a little dated and certainly not festooned with rickshaws, tuk-tuks or large carved wooded figures as some other thai restaurants are. The winner here is the delicious food and the friendly service. The menu offers both english and thai options but my wife and I both opted for a red chicken curry. I asked for mine to be hot and spicy. The portions were generous and we were told that we could have more rice if needed. A small bowl of dried chillies was also brought out in case my curry wasn't hot enough and Anna, the owner, checked that everything was OK. We have eaten thai food in many places, including Thailand, and I have to say that this was one of the best red curries ever. Anna is very friendly with a great sense of humour and took time out to chat to us after we had cleared our plates. The wine list is certainly not extensive and pretty much offers a red or a white!! The glass of white was drinkable and represented very good value as did the beer and the rest of the meal. If you want a faux thai temple complete with dancing girls then look elsewhere. If, however, you want delicious, good value, authentic thai food served in a basic but friendly atmosphere then this is the place for you.

On finding that some of the top restaurants in Folkestone we were thinking about weren't open lunchtimes someone recommended this place, but with no website or menu to see before we went we did wonder what we'd let ourselves in for. All I can say is appearances can be deceiving. Yes, it's a very simple cafe with a limited menu, but the lady who runs Food for Thought is absolutely amazing and the Thai food she freshly prepares is very good indeed. And because cooking for the six of us individually would take a long time she was happy to serve us almost everything on the menu as a kind of taster buffet and charged us a bargain of a price.

Wow..... the food is simply off the chart. Cooked to order and will take you back to your childhood. Best Thai food this side of the m25. If your unsure what to order then go for the Green Thai curry with rice. If you say ‘Hot’ it will be authentic.....enjoy.

Anna, the owner and chef, is a delight - a cheerful, chatty Thai woman who clearly wants her customers to enjoy her food. And there is so much to enjoy: freshly cooked food, beautifully spiced, well balanced and so very tasty. Well priced too. This is Thai food at its homely best. To eat in the small cafe is as if invited into Anna's front room and feels quite a privilege. However, she also offers a takeaway service. I can't imagine that there are many takeaways in the whole of the UK that offer food made with such love and care and at such a reasonable price. Don't miss it.

If you don't care about appearances and your a 'REAL' foody then try her Green thai curry. You have got to wait until she opens about 12.15 only for a few hours but the food is absolutely superb. Try the red if you don't like it too hot or go for the English roast dinner if your not in to thai food - either way the food is awesome!

My husband and I first went to this restaurant about 5 years ago with a crowd from my husband's work, and we had the most fantastic evening. The food was superb and the lady who owns it, Anna, has a most charming personality. One of my friends worked with Anna and when we were looking for something different to do for a special birthday for my husband, my friend told me that Anna would come to my home and cook for us. It's now three and a half years since she came and cooked our first meal for our party of 20 and everyone was so full of praise for the food that she provided and a wonderful evening was enjoyed by all. It was almost as easy as going into the restaurant, as Anna did all the washing up and clearing away, and there was ample food for my husband and I to invite a couple of friends over the next evening for a slap-up meal. Anna has since done another party for us and it was just as successful. We are looking forward to our next 'do' in about a year or so but I'm trying to interest old work colleagues in going to the restaurant for our three-monthly (or so) reunion. Well done Anna, and Ian and I look forward to our next party and sincerely hope you will be able to come and provide our meal for us.

What a great little cafe.I remembered how good it was from last year.So we went back again when we were in town. Great home cooked food at very reasonable prices. The liver & bacon was so good. The rest of the food served was spot on.The cafe is run by a great couple.Which made for a good family meal. One thing for sure we Willie back to eat.Next time we are in Dymchurch. Give it a go.Its worth it.

This venue have missed a trick by not offering a decent range of allergy alternatives, not hard to achieve in this day and age just think outside the box, instead of trying to offer copy cat food offer products which champion the allergy, this would then elevate the overall appeal of the venue.

Amazing. It's a bit like being invited round to a top chef's house for dinner. Small, homely atmosphere and you're greeted like old friends. Very limited menu of two things per course so only go if you're not picky, in sense that you eat a limited number of things. But do go if you're picky in the sense that you know really good food when you taste it. The food was incredible. Every single item of food was so elevated, it's hard to explain. The best example I can offer is that I've never had a tomato that tasted so tomatey. If that makes no sense, I can't help you. The wine was great, we tried the fizz and the picpoul and both were spot on. And then there was the creme brule. The absolute highlight.
