This has got to be one of the best roast I’ve ever had! The portions were so generous, and it tasted amazing! The staff were really friendly and on hand if we needed anything. And all for such a reasonable price! Such an enjoyable experience - we’ll definitely be back!

A very tasty roast dinner. A quirky dining experience with attentive staff. We liked the Jazz music playing. They haven’t been open long at the time of writing this review. Why not give it a go? Worth giving them a chance. The only thing we didn’t quite understand was the added supplement price. Otherwise we had enjoyable experience.

Had a great Sunday roast with the family this past week, everything cooked perfectly and nice portion size. Very tasty and not too pricy, great service too. Will definitely be back in the future.

Absolutely appalling customer service . Booked a 6pm Sunday lunch today ,last available seating before close at 7pm . Arrived at 5.45 to be informed by the restaurant manager there was no food left. I thought he was joking but he repeated there was no food left and I didn’t turn up at 4pm . Totally bemused I said why would I be here at 4 pm for a 6pm reservation. His cavalier attitude was shocking . I had called that afternoon and my booking was for 6pm . If there was an error it was due to whoever took the booking and not my mistake . He was completely indifferent and showed absolutely no concern my reservation was not honoured , he asserted there was no food left and that was it. I said this was totally unacceptable. He then said he would go ask the chef . Whilst there may have been no Sunday lunch left I’m sure there would have been something on offer to eat . It was now 6pm and I had limited choices available. I have never been in this situation before thankfully . I had assumed they had taken my phone number when booking as is the usual Practice when numbers are taken automatically at booking they could then have called to clarify if they had indeed thought my reservation was at 4pm . As far as he was concerned the matter was beyond debate but then said he would talk to the chef . The bar manager was excellent and even offered me a drink whilst I waited to see what the manager could do , he showed concern he was apologetic and his thoughtful attitude was polar opposite to the restaurant manager . Unsurprisingly the restaurant manager returned stating there was “nothing he could do “.He made no attempt to offer any resolution. All I received was a lustre apology and made to feel it was my fault . Totally unacceptable. His total indifference was certainly not the way to engage with customers. The bar manager once again tried to help by offering suggestion of where I could go to try find another restaurant to have something to eat . As a disabled pensioner I had limited options walking around rainy folkstone looking for a restaurant at 6pm on a Sunday . There may be fabulous reviews on the food served ( whenever you’re lucky enough to have access to the menu) but the lack of high quality customer service falls way way below acceptable standard .

This is definitely an undiscovered gem. We had seen an advert that they were starting up the Sunday roasts in the restaurant . Managed to get a table for the very first sitting. Restaurant decor is lovely, not what you would expect walking in from outside. We decided on having the 3 courses as we were going to be out all day. My partner had the soup of the day, Pea and mint with sourdough, and I had the scotch egg with caramelised apple. For main, we had roast pork, and I had half a chicken with homemade bread sauce. Unfortunately, neither of us managed a dessert as we were both full. I'm certain we will be back. Don't miss out on this little undiscovered gem

Absolutely delicious! Lovely service. Would certainly eat there again. Hidden location under a bar a bit at odds with the fine dining and welcome of the restaurant.

Upstairs looked very kitch so we were not so sure! Downstairs….What a surprise! Amazing food, lovely clever waitress and good chef … who seem to enjoy their job! The place is pretty disorganised! But that’s the charm of it! Who says small local restaurants should be run like multinationals! Very underrated and cool. Will try the Sunday roast soon!

Had an excellent meal here for a birthday celebration. Shared small plates, followed by dessert and cheese board. You have to enter via the Skuba bar, but the restaurant is pleasant, the service is great and the chef produces superb food.

The food was outstanding my husband had the scotch egg followed by cod and he absolutely loved them both. I had the chicken followed by burata. As I did not want the cheese sauce with my chicken the chef very kindly made me an amazing white wine and cream sauce. Oh my goodness such delightful and delicious food. We will be back.

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. First, when we turned up the staff looked confused about a restaurant booking. Second, we were given one menu between two of us because no others were available. Third, it was the wrong menu. When the correct menu came there was nothing that one of us wanted as the fish dishes had seafood (one of us has a serious allergy) and the veg dishes did not look good.We agreed to mix a menu from the skuba bar (the cheaper joint upstairs) and the restaurant and were told we could stay in the restaurant. We were the told we could not say in the restaurant. Fourth, we went upstairs to find out what we had ordered from the skuba bar was not being served. So we chose something else that was very very slow to arrive so we left. A complete car crash not due the staff member but, we suspect, due to the management. Careers advice to our waiter, try and get a job somewhere else.

My wife & I had a fantastic meal here on Saturday evening (6th May) We had read about Jack the chef's talent & they weren't wrong. The food was absolutely beautiful, so much so that I had to try an extra small plate main course. This restaurant should be rated at a far higher position but this is all down to the amount of reviews an establishment receives. Book a table on a Friday or Saturday night as it has limited opening days. You will be amazed. Can't wait until we return to Folkestone to experience such pleasure. Service was 1st class - Prices were very reasonable.

Best Sunday roast we’ve had in a long time! We decided not to order a starter and go straight to the main course (thank goodness as there was so much food) and we ordered the lamb which was served lovely and pink! The food was piping hot and all locally sourced - the cauliflower cheese was so tasty, the veg was cooked to perfection and the Yorkshire puds were delicious (and massive). As it was very quiet the chef/owner Jack took the time to chat with us and his colleague who was looking after us was so friendly and very attentive - nothing was too much trouble! I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be visiting again!

Love love love this place for Sunday lunch. My fiancé Jeff and I keep coming back. It’s a tiny oasis, quality product, well cooked, generous portion, cauliflower cheese is to tie for! Worth every penny. Roast lamb for me every time and one day I won’t eat it all so I can enjoy the deserts too but it’s hard to stop as it tastes so good! Thank you for all your efforts. We love it xx

Now here's a " hidden jem", access is through the lively Skuba bar and downstairs to a totally different experience. Small and intimate, not been running for long in it's current form but well worth a visit. Every dish was delicious and the "sharing plate" menu means that you can try a variety of different items without running up a huge bill. The service was lovely and we had one of the best tasting meals we've had in quite some time.

Really delicious food - the produce sings here and you can taste the quality. The menu says small plates but they are very generous, we had six dishes between two and couldn't finish! Stand out dishes were the venison, skate wing and scallops. Very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend.

1st time eating here, and I should have read the review from the owner, what a plonker I am walking up and down the road a few times until I phoned up felt a fool , inside the scuba the man said and down stairs err . Anyway the starters were to die for , the home cooked Sunday roast beef dinner was probably one of the best I've eaten in a very long time the restaurant was full and I am one of those with very good hearing and all I could hear was how amazing the food was from every table, the chef definitely knows how to cook and his presentation of his food on the plate made you just want to eat the whole lot, I highly recommend eating here and I will definitely be eating during the week as well as Sundays

What a great little cafe.I remembered how good it was from last year.So we went back again when we were in town. Great home cooked food at very reasonable prices. The liver & bacon was so good. The rest of the food served was spot on.The cafe is run by a great couple.Which made for a good family meal. One thing for sure we Willie back to eat.Next time we are in Dymchurch. Give it a go.Its worth it.

Amazing. It's a bit like being invited round to a top chef's house for dinner. Small, homely atmosphere and you're greeted like old friends. Very limited menu of two things per course so only go if you're not picky, in sense that you eat a limited number of things. But do go if you're picky in the sense that you know really good food when you taste it. The food was incredible. Every single item of food was so elevated, it's hard to explain. The best example I can offer is that I've never had a tomato that tasted so tomatey. If that makes no sense, I can't help you. The wine was great, we tried the fizz and the picpoul and both were spot on. And then there was the creme brule. The absolute highlight.
