First time eating here and had the most amazing meal out in a resturant for a long time. We hadn't booked a table just asked on the off chance if they could fit us in and was seated on a window table the staff were so polite and lovely although they were very busy we didn't have to wait very long for service drinks arrived quickly and food was fantastic I had the pork belly with burt apple ketchup and my husband had the roast sirloin with horseradish emulsion i wish I had of taken photos now as when it came out it looked absolutely stunning and tasted amazing. Would I eat there again oh absolutely I would

I’ve been dining here for years now and I’m sad to say it’s lost its spark somewhat. At £100 per person I expect a bit more. Maybe it’s comparing to other restaurants like the Fordwich Arms and Hide and Fox, but The West House is now a couple of leagues below these I’m afraid. Most courses were fairly average and lacked flavour. The squid a bit rubbery, the pasta bland and the chicken dry. Red mullet quite nice. Best dish was without doubt the desert which was some kind of blood orange trifle with rhubarb compote which was delicious I have to say. Service was very good as always and timing great. Always very welcoming and polite, but sad to say the food was not what it used to be, maybe it’s due to a set menu nowadays to keep restaurant bills down. A real shame.

My new local pub. I have visited the Dolphin before (sister pub) but having this little gem round the corner from me is an absolute blessing. The staff are all super friendly and accommodating, they go out of their way to get to know you, learn your drinking habits and our fur babies! Service is always 10/10. Food is always good, reasonably priced, the Sunday lunches are huge as well! Garden is huge and provides additional bar service. All the team are wonderful. Would 110% recommend to anyone in the area.

The best Sunday lunch that you could wish for My starter portion of Moules Marinare was just how I like them lightly steamed until they open Plump fresh and full in the shell and a very pleasant sauce The roast dry aged beef was tender and perfectly rare It was accompanied by Yorkshire pudding, lovely roasted potatoes, delicious stuffing, cauliflower cheese tarragon infused swede broccoli spears and served with what tasted like chefs home made horseradish and English Mustard The staff were very pleasant and extremely enthusiastic and efficient A delightful experience so very impressed Ten out of ten Thank you all R

Having eaten here 3 times over the last few months my overall impression is underwhelming. The food, on the whole is fine, but the menu doesn’t seem to change, as a non meat eater this means a fairly boring choice. We have no plans to return in the near future

Lovely, cosy pub, with friendly, welcoming staff nestled in a charming village. Oh, and the food was delicious too - exceeded expectations! We were able to enjoy a drink in the beer garden out the front too, marvelling at all the thatched roofs around. Highly recommend, and worth going out of your way to visit.

Excellent place - welcoming service and great food. The pace of the service is good, not too fast, if still attentive. We were impressed by staff knowledge of the menu, allergies and wine. Had lamb, pork belly and hispy cabbage and all were very good indeed. We’ve been coming here on and off for 30 years, and it’s better than ever. Choose the area at the far end, or in the bar. The full height space in the main area is very impressive but quite brightly lit. They do a great range of cocktails too and very reasonably priced wine.

We visited Blue Island on our first ever evening in Southampton. It's kind of spoiled all future evenings in this city, because it is difficult to imagine a more enjoyable meal! We were drawn to the restaurant by the excellent reviews, its proximity to our Premier Inn, and our fancying Greek food. From the welcome on the phone and on arrival, to our departure two hours later, we were looked after like old friends. I'm sorry I don't have names, but the owners are so friendly and cheery, in addition to providing first-rate service. As with many previous diners, we chose the Meze Meal for Two. Fabulous value; delicious food! Really, there is little more to say, other than, we cannot recommend Blue Island too highly. Loved it! Thank you for giving us such a lovely evening/meal.
