The best restaurants serving British food in Waverley South East

Our second year here, and it was well worth returning. Great food and service as well as a relaxed atmosphere. No rush for us to finish as we enjoyed after lunch coffee. Everyone had a great time. Thank you to everyone at Sun Inn, particularly Elle and of course Tip.

The overall experience was really really good, albeit with a few minor bumps. The greeting was friendly and informative by Alex. We were shown to our hut which was absolutely beautiful and very well made. The fridge wasn’t working so our drinks could not be chilled, we did mention this and it was said that they’d check but that didn’t happen. The hut was unbelievable, we loved sunbathing in the afternoon and then lighting a fire in the evening after dinner and roasting some marshmallows. We had a table booked for 8pm and we didn’t get sat until around 8.20pm, but our table was lovely. Nice size and well spaced out. The restaurant area was brilliant. The meal was a tad overpriced in my mind but the food delicious. We saw a lady walk out and say service was slow which made us a bit nervous but our waiter was lovely and attentive. Breakfast top notch the following day, the coffee really good too. I did email ahead of time and mention it was my girlfriends birthday, and asked if a bottle could be left in the room, which was confirmed but sadly it didn’t happen. Other than those minor blips, the experience was unbelievable and we’ll be back

I went on Saturday night,singer was brilliant then went along with family for a Sunday lunch,wow,glad I did. The meal was great, really enjoyed it. The place was lovely, really friendly staff nothing was too much trouble for them, very nice people. Will definitely go again.

Great Lil outdoor covered tables

Brilliant local chippy. Chips are traditional hand cut, the fish is tasty and batter is crispy. Best of all is the service. Absolutely customer focus, on the odd occasion that something is not perfect they are so quick to sort it out. Exceptional.

Went here for less than 30 mins and came away with a parking fine! Will never visit again, a local pub using a parking enforcement company. Bad business.

Very busy restaurant as it was a hot Sunday but everything ran so smoothly. Great food and excellent service from start to finish.

Really need to have something to offer coeliacs. Had to settle for a steak sandwich with no bread which was all the waitress could recommend. The beef salad could surely be made gluten free at least? It’s our local pub so would very much like to be able to bring coeliac family members without them feeling left out.

Picked up a take away. Green curry was delicious. I’d asked for it spicy and it was perfect spice. The prawn toast was absolutely delicious. I ate all 4 pieces. It was very fresh. Would recommend

Shout out to Yaz and Paddy for their service here, made the experience amazing. The food and service were some of the best we’ve had in a long time so attentive and knowledgeable and very personable. Will definitely be back would definitely recommend ☺️

Food was good but very small portions fill the box with the curry sauce and fish and then only a few chips for a large portion it was not kids size yes. Unfortunately will travel further a field for better portion size for a cheap price and just as good.

Great fish and chips , cheaper than the others and i believe a lot more satisfying than others in the area. Friendly staff and food fresh made.

Took a chance that there would be a table at hilltop today. Sat inside and was told by the waitress that the table was not booked today. She couldn’t be more helpful. Tasty sausage roll, although this was the only savoury at the counter. Lovely and peaceful, beautiful view. Tom, part of the front of house team put on the music - much louder inside where the speakers were. On asking the music was turned down, but as we finished our meal, he turned it up again. He also seated someone at the same table even though there was another not booked for lunch. My mother went to the counter to place an order and like other comments already posted, there was no acknowledgement or reassurance she would be served. She gave up. I went in a her place and was given two cinnamon rolls for the price of one. Was this an unspoken acknowledgement that she should have been served. Was appreciated. Still had a nice time, but front of house perhaps too busy or need to consider all guests and not just those they know by name.

Lovely staff, great value for money and a peaceful beer garden.

We received a very friendly welcome when we dropped in for lunch. The service was good and the food was excellent. I had a Moroccan tagine and my husband had a burger washed down with a pint of beer. I had a glass of white wine and a glass of red, both of which were wines I had not drunk before and I was offered a tasting of each before buying them. My husband was also offered a tasting of the beer he had as again it was not a brew he had experienced before.
