Perhaps we were unlucky but we had to wait two hours between sitting down for lunch and getting our main course. Pretty much every order (food, drinks, desert) had something missing that we had to chase and wait for. We had to go to the bar and collect our own drinks having seen them poured (eventually) and then sat on the bar for too long. Food good and service friendly - we got a discount on the bill but not sure it’s enough to make me return.

4th visit from us, just brilliant Easy to park, opened the front door for my wife and we were both welcomed with a smile from the amazing landlady. This lady from our first visit with our elderly dog who has now passed away to today's visit goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome. My returning visits and reviews reflects this 100% Tonight we sat in the bar and had fish and chips, it was well cooked and had zero issues to the point my plates were so clean they looked like they had not been used 🤣 cutlery was clean and fresh and glasses very clean and like you had got them from home 👌 On that note table sevice is spot on but when I finish I always clean the table and take to the bar, this is a nod to a thanks for the service and I'm helping you back out 👍😘 Bill paid and table left clean and we were waved out the door and we said see you again soon, Look after the staff and pub they work very hard for this level of service Thanks again 😘x see you again very soon

Ordered fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding, On walking in we were welcomed with a smile, nice clear bar and front of house seating area Clean glasses and food came out hot and ready to eat. Honestly best fish and chips in the area and the mushy peas it would have been rude of me to lick the plate 😂 but soooo wanted too!! 😛 Spoke to the landlady again, always happy and up for a giggle and chat. Visited this pub for the first time last night. I was not impressed. We wanted to sit in the garden, have a drink and a meal. We tried to order food at the bar but were told we had to get a table number first, as we both have walking difficulties this was really unacceptable. A lady said she was the only person in the kitchen & we needed the table number first to order. The food was very slow and when it did arrive it was cold Will not be returning

Doing a bit of a pub crawl over a few weeks with our dog Betsy who's got cancer so making some long lasting memories Decided to pop out here for a coke and rest in the beer garden but on thr way thought why not have a meal as well Parking was easy and felt safe leaving it there, walked into the well layed out pub to find two very welcoming guys behind the bar who pointed the way round to the beer garden, up the small path to the left of the pub was a fenced off play area and very large well kept beer garden with nice solid seating that any age can sit on and nice gap between table and seat just perfect for sitting up or lounging back after a meal 👍👍👍 Garden was well kept and nice flat area to walk on and outside rain covered area and larger bar area After I settled my wife and my dog Betsy down at a table with a view out over the fields of corn I walked back to the bar and ordered our meal with two pints of coke Glasses were super clean like new and bar and staff were clean and polite /friendly nothing was too much for them and every request was answered back with a professional response 👍👍👍 This beautiful place is made sooo much better when food arrived, massive bit of fish, plate of chips and sides were another for any stomach to take, fish was cooked just perfect like they knew, sooo much fish from pubs can be wet and soggy NOT this meal, batter crunch and chips were perfect as well, coke is not watered down rubbish PROPER PUB FOOD ❤️❤️ I took our plates back indoors as got our puddings ready Nice blonde hair lady came out with our puddings and as it was starting to rain even though we were under the tree on the back left the lady offered a seat indoors for our puddings, we took her up on that and made our way to the beautiful seating area right out the front with the log burner in I did say to the lady we were blow away with the food and cleared the plate clean, always and sold winner that the food is too notch She was over the moon that I had given postive feedback, believe me it was deserved We 100% will be back!!! Always a nice welcome and friendly staff and this lovely community-run local pub. In the summer we have enjoyed eating in the garden with its far reaching views. We have eaten here a few times and until now always had good food. But on this occasion the food was poor. The pie was swimming in gravy that lacked any flavour, it would also have been nicer to serve the gravy separately. Sadly the food was cold and had to be returned to the kitchen, the pub was not busy and it really seemed a shame that they missed the mark on this occassion. We also noted that the menu was not as interesting as it had been earlier in the year. I am hoping this was a 'blip' and that normal service will resume. We will give it another go sometime soon.

One would expect something better than what looked and tasted like oven chips too! This pub is obviously gem of a buiding and has a great garden (although there were no parasols on nay of the tables on the grass and folk were quinting and then moving to the few covered tables) so its a shame that they have dropped their game.

Lovely country pub, to me this is how every pub with a restaurant should be - totally dog friendly and well placed to retire to after a good walk round Thursley nature reserve and Hankley common with excellent food. Sunday roast was top notch with large portions and brilliant quality. The only odd things are that the cauliflower cheese isn’t on the menu yet served with every roast (a great surprise) and only the beef came with a Yorkshire (though they were happily provided free on all of our meals when asked). Don’t miss the Yorkshire’s either because they are fantastic and enormous!! Sticky toffee pudding to finish was tremendous as well and again a very generous portion. We will be returning.

Anyone looking at my reviews will see most of them are fairly positive. It is clear that the Three Horseshoes has a problem, however. It is possible, to be fair to them, that they were having a bad day as a one-off.Firstly, the food was very good (though a little overpriced for typical dishes). However, we waited 50 minutes to receive the food. It was a Saturday and we sat outside as we hadn't booked. Only those who had booked could sit indoors. Everyone seemed to be waiting a long time, however. When pubs are taking a long time to serve the food, they usually let you know as you arrive. More strangely, as we walked down the driveway upon leaving the pub, the barman ran after us asking if we had paid! I thought he could have checked with the waitress, a rather more professional approach to whatever his doubt was. We tried not to be insulted and told him we had paid (as we had) but then he asked us for our receipt from the payment we had just made! It is possible he thought we were annoyed at waiting so long for the food and had decided to walk out and not to pay. But that is not the casel. Since this has never happened in any pub I have visited, and I go to many, it stands out. Due to the good food, I would possibly give them a second chance but not a third.

This is a free house in well-heeled Surrey. It is right by the A3 which does not impact on the ambience of the village and its pub, but is good for getting to and from at speed. Walk up to the Devil's Punchbowl then retire for beer in the pub bit at the front and eat in the quiet restaurant at the rear.Well I have to say that the food was outstanding. West African pork stew was just delicious, and Mrs Miniman reckoned that it was the best battered fish and clearly homemeade chips she'd had for some time. The house wine, both red and white was v good - it's labelled for them and is a Chilean merlot and a Chilean sauvignon blanc respectively. Nothing is cheap in Surrey, but this place is not more expensive than average.A note to other reviewers. Don't complain about the price of the wine. You're in Surrey. Either suck it up or don't have it. And please - can we have less moaning about a lack of Vegan food? If they don't do vegan, there may be a commercial reason, rather than just being sick to the back teeth with your whingeing. You don't have a right to complain when they don't cater for your fringe tastes. If you want vegan food, check out the menu before making a booking.

Oh dear what a dreadful experience. We had booked lunch at this pub and were shown through to the very smooth restaurant. The pub area being at the front of the building. After a few minutes two people arrived with four large and very smelly wet dogs. This is not acceptable in what is clearly an inside eating restaurant and not the drinking pub area. We highlighted this to management and were literally shouted at by the very rude manager. We will not be returning and will also tell our friends who use this area a lot for running, walking and cycling. Although this pub is in the most gorgeous spot and the staff are mostly delightful, if you want a vegetarian burger - BEWARE! I ordered the Veggie Burger and, when it arrived, I thought I was eating meat. On raising the question, I was told it was vegetarian as it was a plant based burger. Nowhere on the menu does it say that. I suggested that it should have been listed as a plant based burger, I was told that if all ingredients were listed then the menu would run to 8 pages! Not great customer relations. . . I realise that I might sound picky but if I wanted to eat a meat flavoured meal, I would eat meat. Veggie burger, to me, says vegetables. Tried, TRIED this pub three or four times. Every time I've been there's been the same local "gentleman" sitting at the bar watching a sports game VERY loud on his mobile. Who thinks that's fine? Just what you don't want - anywhere. Who wants that whilst eating and who would let that happen regularly! Tried to order food from the menu and was told food didn't start until 6pm. Fair enough but they refused our food order until 6pm - it was 5:45pm and we was ordering drinks at the same time!!! We went and ate at elsewhere in Elstead instead. It seems it's fine if you're a local. They seem to do what they want. Not very welcoming if you are not.

After a last minute change of plans we booked for the 6 course taster menu. Each course was delicious, interesting and beautifully presented. The service was excellent (my waiter had been told before I arrived that I don't eat fish). In previous years at other venues, I have found Valentine's day is an opportunity to fill every corner with tables, over work the waiting staff and try for more covers than the kitchen can handle but was very pleased that here the numbers were strictly controlled so that the experience could be enjoyed. This was our first visit for food. We had a really pleasant afternoon in the garden in the summer. We'll definitely be back for more food.Fantastic value for money.

The soup was out of this world. Staff were friendly and attentive. Excellent value for money. We will definitely return

Amazing food, vegan options available for those that want it. Puddings to die for. Brilliant atmosphere. Friendly and certainly somewhere to come for a Sunday lunch. If you have special dietary requirements all you have to do is call the pub a couple of days before and they will do their best to cater for you. What an amazing place Daniel and Michelle and their team go from strength to strength with great food brilliant company and a real country pub atmosphere. Vegans are still in the minority so if you absolutely have to eat vegan be grateful when places offer you an option! Keep doing what you are doing guys it’s certainly working!

This is a cosy little country pub/restaurant in Thursley village near to Godalming. It is owned and run by a group of villagers and appears to be a first class community pub. There are several good beers on draught and the menu is adequate but not extensive. However our party of four enjoyed standards such as burgers and fish and chips as well as a delicious beef in suet special of the day.The prices are reasonable, the staff friendly and efficient and the log fire provides a warm winter atmosphere with an outside garden for a warmer summer experience . Thank you everyone at Three Horseshoes

Hugely disappointing. Vegan menu available during the week, even boasted about on the menu pages, but, was told very rudely and dismissively "oh, we can't possibly do vegan meals on a Sunday". Thing is, if you can the rest of the week, why can't you do a vegan meal on a Sunday? This pub prides itself on being owned by the community, but, it seems, that not all of the community is welcome.

Tried to book a table for Sunday lunch and, with 10 days notice, they were unable to provide a vegan meal! Unbelievable.

Afraid very disappointed. We had been previously and it was lovely, so took large family group there for a Christmas get together. Booked well in advanced and said it was for Christmas, assumed had ordered the Christmas menu, but when arrived was told had not. Food arrived and waitress has got the order wrong so one member of our table had to sit there for 10 minutes waiting for her food to be cooked. Everyone else waited for her food to arrive and so the whole tables food went cold, no formal apology, nothing, staff did not seem to care, even after we complained. Was really embarrassed as everyone had come from around the UK to visit and I had said it was lovely food and service. Like to support local independent pubs but afraid won’t be supporting this one again as it was a complete let down.

Arrived at opening time 1100 to see the scent-Hunt gathering in the car park - horses and hounds all in great shape and protesters on site and behaving well. They moved off about 1110 and, as it had started to rain, we missed out on the nature board-walk on the Thursley / Elstead Heath and went inside for delicious coffee. Chatting was extended so we went straight into lunch. Wrap very tasty, West African Stew warming and scrummy, and pie of the week (lamb) just great pub grub if that does not sound like a put down. Couple of local beers on tap. The restaurant was very busy but we managed to grab a table at the bar - very convivial. Super convenient for the A3 with north/south access. A relaxed, very local, walking pub and super-dog-friendly.

A group of 7 of us came here on a Friday for a late lunch. The food was great, lots of options for starters, mains and desserts. I was very impressed with my meal and how long it took for food to be served to us. Would come here again.
