I visited here based on the rave reviews, I was quite excited as I love a quaint tea room. The lady serving but very friendly so no issue there, the issue was the prices. The espresso was around £2.50 ish, but the Americano was “£5”?? So that’s another £2.50 for hot water, the latte was over £5 and even the tea was £5. For that price I would expect to be in a 5 star hotel with armchairs and a glorious open fire, they don’t even have a toilet, there is a dirty public toilet outside. I really don’t like giving bad reviews but I was totally dumbfounded by the prices and that people seem to be paying it.

Sunday lunch at the Horse and Jockey was fabulous. 7 of us visited on the 9th Feb, 5 had the beef 2 had the chicken. 7 empty plates returned to the kitchen, beef was so tender and the chicken was reported as delicious . Accompanied with roast potatoes Yorkshire pudding and various vegetables . Served by friendly staff in a lovely proper English pub.

Where to start….just go here! Warm welcome to this unique hub of this pretty village, breakfast was brilliant and very hot-sounds silly but I don’t do lukewarm! The owner and staff are great-so much so I bought some local produce and cake to give them more money! Will definitely be back and will recommend this business to everyone -they do everything really well-a great start to our weekend.

Looking for a drink and a bite to eat on a day out, popped into Sadlers but found they'd just closed, Staff apologised but asked what we were after as they still had some pasties for take away, this suited us fine. Food was packed and labelled as different flavours and drinks from the fridge. We paid and left to eat said pasties and commented how helpful and pleasant the girls had been. Very helpful and pleasant customer experience, thank you.

Terrible pub. Guy behind the bar has problems and goes looking for fights. I would understand if acting in a bad manner, but literally done nothing to be treated like I was.

Ate a lunch here and due to the fact it was January just after Christmas and horrible weather it was understandably very quiet. However, we had a nice cosy table in the bar area and the service and food was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and will very happily be back for more.

Am an avid swimmer and love coming to the lake - followed by a warming coffee! Eve who works on a Sunday usually is so friendly and helpful. Plus it always seems to be very busy after a swim and she is always smiling. Will be coming back regularly.

We booked a special birthday lunch here, having seen some good reviews. We were shown to the ballroom, where the flowers on the table were dead!! We were then given a bar menu of small plates. When we asked for the lunch menu, we were told that they were not running lunch today, as they had a large booking in the evening. We booked in advance and the day before, we had an email asking us to reconfirm our booking, which we did. The restaurant didn’t bother to warn us in advance despite having told them it was a special birthday lunch. Appalling service, so we left and ate elsewhere, at the White Hart in Fyfield, where we had a wonderful meal

We had a stop in Abingdon on our way to Oxford. A leg stretch and looking for a place to have just a light lunch and a drink. We stumbled upon the museum and in the course of checking out the Crossley Pumping Engine in the basement decided to have luch there. The cafe is only open till 2pm but with half an our to spare we managed to get an order in for 2 toastie cheese and ham sandwiches. Hardly a particularly exciting lunch you may think, but there are toasties and there are toasties. Ours were excellent and just hit the spot after a pleasant visit to the museum above. Sometimes you just stumble on these places and have to pass them on to thers. If you are a veggie get there earlier than 1.30 as apprently the veggie versions take a bit longer to prepare.

Unpleasant member of staff (or the owner?) takes the joy out of shopping here. Gives you the impression you the customer are a bit of a nuisance. Such a shame as it’s otherwise a good shop. I wish I’d just ordered my item online. Won’t bother trying them again next time.

Booked a table for 5 adults and 7 children for my wife's 40th surprise birthday meal Saturday 22nd February at 1800. We all had starters, mains and deserts with of course a mixture of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The starters and mains were all pre ordered, all of the meals both children and adults were faultless, hot, served very efficiently by the waiting staff who were very polite and helpful. We left the table at about 22:30, the food, atmosphere , the whole evening was fantastic whith only positive comments and feedback from everyone that night and morning after. An oustanding evening, a big thank you to Pete and his team both front of house and kitchen staff (great cooking chef) What a transform, just what a village pub needed.

Worst so called “tomato and red pepper soup”we have ever had, it was so thin and watery absolutely tasteless ( now we know why…, you did say you were running out and it was only just 11.45 very early lunch! so I guess it was watered down to go further !!! No apology when we went to pay for our cup of tea only abruptness !
