Ate a lunch here and due to the fact it was January just after Christmas and horrible weather it was understandably very quiet. However, we had a nice cosy table in the bar area and the service and food was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and will very happily be back for more.

Great food particularly the lamb rump, venison, fish pie, fish and chips. The sticky toffee pudding topped it all. Besides being tasty the food was well presented and good sized proportions. Pricing was fair for the quality. Would definitely return.

We hadn’t been to The Lamb at Buckland for some time so decided to give it a revisit. It had changed hands several times over the years and the reports we had heard over that time were very mixed. We certainly need not have worried as we had a first class experience. Initially going for a bar snack we quickly decided to have a light lunch. We went on a Friday lunchtime and received a warm welcome, a beautiful open fire provided a cosy atmosphere from a windy hostile day outside. The menu is not too long but provides a great choice. My wife had duck, pink but tender and I enjoyed salmon with crab croquettes on a bed of spinach and capers. We shared hand cut chips and leeks with a blue cheese gratin. Service time was good considering everything is prepared in house. Presentation is perfect without being over fussy. Sweet menu was excellent; pavlova, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate torte to name a few plus an unusual range of home made ice creams. We will definitely return.

My girlfriend organised a family lunch for my 50th birthday and the food and waiting staff didn't disappoint. We were made to feel welcomed from the moment we sat down. Most of us had the roast which was delicious! Some had the sausage and mash, I had a taste of the sausage but found them disappointingly tasteless. My lamb was really tasty though. The ice cream were amazing! The waiting staff were friendly and attentive. I will be back soon!

A friend and I stopped for Sunday lunch at The Lamb today having never been before despite only living down the road. I’m so glad I’ve discovered it now. We both opted for the Sunday lunch - the half chicken for me and the pork for my friend. Hands down probably the best Sunday lunch we’ve both had in a long time and definitely worth having if you’re passing - we’ve already made plans to come back in a couple of weeks time. You could not fault the service received from everyone we encountered today and they are a credit. For two high quality roast dinners under £40 including drinks you can’t go wrong.

Fantastic Sunday dinner, with beautiful sides. My son and friend are both veggie and great to see sone well considered options for them.. Professional and friendly staff. The ‘normal’ menu also looks great, so will definitely be back to try more! Really enjoyed our visit well done all - keep up the good work!

The best food around for miles. Every thing is home cooked, including the filo pastry. The peach cobbler was so tasty. Really cannot fault it. The service is friendly and there are table cloths and proper napkins!

Just back from dinner at The Lamb and we can honestly say it was the best meal we have had in ages. The food was just delicious. Hot beetroot and cured salmon starter, followed by halibut and a peach cobbler with marzipan ice cream….. amazing. The pub is tucked away, quiet and off the beaten trail in a sense, so a real find. Such a treat to eat a delicious and different meal when all too often, sadly, eating out is a constant disappointment….. Well done to the team at The Lamb. We loved it.

Words fail me, the worst lunch! There was really nothing good to say. Too any items sold out.Beef tough as old boots, Yorkshire pudding more like a crisp biscuit, vegetables very disappointing and ice cream that had melted to a puddle.

The experience was really awful. We waited 1.5 hours for our main (first) course of Sunday Roast. When it arrived, the lamb was red, undercooked and cold. The vegetables for a table of 6 had less than 6 carrots and less than 6 florets of cauliflower. We left and thankfully were able to celebrate the birthday lunch at another nearby excellent pub

Did not live up to previous visits a couple of years ago, when it was excellent. Scallops very poorly cooked and overpriced at £15 as starter. Calves liver main overcooked and hard. Overall, food is poorly cooked and very poor value for money.

Booked for a saturday lunch as most places within range are always busy. Surprisingly this wasn't. Very good service, efficient & friendly. Good menu (and real, printed menus none of that downloading an App and scrolling across your mobile squinting for an hour like before). Good food A bit pricey but very nice anyway

Four of us went for dinner last Saturday evening. We had been once about six weeks prior to this and thoroughly enjoyed the meal (one lamb, one liver). Although the service had not been good, we decided to go again. We went to the bar and ordered drinks, as the last time we had gone straight to the table and then had to wait 15 minutes before we were served drinks. I asked for a whisky and soda; this was served in a half pint glass which was nearly full - not my idea of whisky with a splash of soda. This was rectified and then we went to our table. Once again, we were left to our own devices and I had to go to the bar and request someone to come and serve us a drink. Our order for food was taken but it was nearly an hour from entering the pub until the food was brought to the table. The food was most enjoyable - very tasty, well presented and unusual. We had one lamb, one pork, one hake and one vegetarian option. For puddings, we had two chocolate sundaes, one creme brulee and a sorbet, all very delicious but at £8.50 per pudding, they are quite expensive. To sum up, the chef's excellent food is let down by poor service. The staff were very pleasant, but had not been properly trained in serving either drinks or food. Such a shame. We will not be visiting again any time soon.

We had a pleasant family lunch, the service was excellent. The food was also overall very good. My family members chose Pork which was 1st class. My choice of the lamb not 100% well cooked, not plentiful, and not much. We have booked a revisit for next Sunday which is testament too how much we enjoyed the experience.

Popped in for an evening meal. The pub was busy and had a welcoming feel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I had the devilled kidneys to start followed by calves livers. It was some of the tastiest food I’ve had recently. Succulent, full of flavour and well presented. I do have a bugbear that the food doesn’t come with any accompaniments, so you have to order potato, vegetables etc as side orders, but that’s a small thing. Great to have a quality menu served by friendly people close to home; will definitely go again.
