Tandem in Vale of White Horse

We came in as family a few weeks ago the staff were very welcome and warm we was shown to our table a few moment later after looking at the menu with all the delicious food we ordered through the app which is quick and easy not having to wait in a long queue to be served I went with the chicken new york which was absolutely delicious my daughter went for a mix it up which she enjoyed Thank you for a delicious meal and amazing service

Food cheap and cheerful pub grub. Ok but not brilliant. Service poor. No check back to see if food OK. Had to get own cutlery etc. Condiments on the table empty. Staff collecting glasses ahead of serving people waiting at bar. Table not cleared between courses.

We arrived with warm welcome shown to our table Ordered our drinks and food Excellent value and we had a range of sizzlers/ burgers and chicken meals all were served hot and very quickly The staff were very friendly helpful and polite Top marks to them all keep up the good work

We have been on this restaurant numerous times, we had a baby shower today so thought it would be nice to go there for a meal after. There were 8 of us and we are totally shocked at the food today. We had to ask for cutlery and then was given just 4 forks, the meals came out, the cheese and bacon burger had a tiny slice of bacon, the burger was solid and burnt. I did complain and they added a slice of bacon! They forgot 2 extras so again I requested them, the chicken wings were warm (not hot at all) and the mac and cheese was a solid lump. Bits of food were burnt? There was no presentation at all and overall the meal was shocking! We were very disappointed and won’t be retuning again

We came for lunch. Ten of us in total. The staff were welcoming and helpful. they were very patient when it came to paying with a combination of cards and cash. The food was good and tasty with options for the vegan and vegetarian in our party. I had a simple cheeseburger that came with fries and onion rings, just a fiver from the Epic Meal deal, far better than expected for the price. Not a single complaint or moan from all ten of us, which is remarkable. Very nice attentive service from the waitress at our table, I wish i had asked her name. Will be returning in the spring. thanks.

Dirty glasses , no hand soap . The food was over cooked and burnt to the point that we were unable to cut it even with a steak knife . Dirty toilet doors .

Food was very reasonable priced, we were a large party but food all came out hot and all at the same time. Quality of food was very good and enjoyed by all members of the family. Highly recommend.

Always a good food pit stop with family and friends. Also good meeting up place halfway to Oxford.

Christmas dinner was the worse. Everything was undercooked. The service was not good. I waited hours for food. The dessert was a tiny piece of nothing. I will never eat here again!

Visited a few days ago as it had been some time since I'd last been. I can see why I've not rushed back. granted it was very quiet as it was late afternoon. Staff were polite and friendly which is the only saving grace. Food - ordered the lasagne and a steak. The lasagne was very over microwaved and the steak started off good but then was very dry as it had been cut in half to help what i can only assume cook quicker.

Absolutely love this place bring my dad most Sundays, food is amazing and well priced and the staff are loverly and have cracking banter. Racheal is a "Darling" would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Came here for a meal with my family, food came out hot and tasted just as good as it looked and with the weekly deals it was a steal for a quality steak. We were looked after by a lovely lady named Jess and made sure everything we needed was sorted.

Spacious, clean and tidy. Efficient clear-up. Friendly but not intrusive staff. Plenty of seating, inside and out also guilty smokers' corner! Wide range of choice on menu. My husband chose steak which was juicy and thick. My son had chicken korma and he loved it. I had steak-and-ale pie which was so enormous that I could only manage about half of it (son finished it!). Rich gravy and good quality steak pieces. Good range of alcohol-free drinks. Would recommend and will go back whenever we are in the area

The tandem is a great pub to go for a really nice meal there is a big garden and you can even see the trains go past out the back garden I would book a table here as it gets really busy, The food is good just how you like it and if there is anything wrong the staff will be happy to fix the problem with no fuss at all.

Food was cold and they couldn't sit up in a empty garden due to safety issues. Kids couldn't go in the grass green due to enormous amounts of glass scattered everywhere. Staff all looked miserable and poorly presented

So ordering food which was a burger then rest table ordered mix ups ten mins later including this was two children’s meals , then two more bigger tabl s came in , 25 mins later no food but the tables after we ordered had nearly ate there food , still waiting then one meal came out we waited ten mins later kids meal came , then still no other food finally when food came out I had a little moan and nothing , no check back no plate clearing , I’m really not happy with what we experienced, won’t be going bk

We stopped going to The Tandem a year or so ago because we go out for a meal as an impulse and it was almost too busy to accommodate walk ins and if you tried to book there would not be a free table for a few hours. So we thought for once we would plan ahead and book. The 1st red flag was the car park was empty... on a Saturday evening. Lots of signs with "Booking Only" everywhere, that is inviting. I walked into the gents toilets, and all the urinals were out of order. The 2 remaining toilets stood in puddles of urine. Lovely. We got a table. This once buzzing restaurant had 3 tables of people. The rest were empty. We all decided what food we wanted from the menu, went to the bar to order. Slush Puppy Machine was out of order, so grumpy kids, the soft drink machine was out of order, grumpier kids, and grumpy adults. Ordered the food after making some changes because they did not have everything available on the menu. When the food did turn up, it was OK. However, some of the portions were a bit stingy.

My food was fine (gammon and chips) which is why I’ve left a one star, otherwise I wouldn’t have even put that. My partner ordered a burger and chips, upgraded to salt & pepper chips but what came was OVERLY powdered seasoning which was inedible without a ton of mayo. The pina colada was a glass of milk with a shot of rum. Service- when we came in there was one young girl behind the bar, another young girl just sat at a table uninterested. No one came over to see if our food was okay or if we wanted anything else, and on our way out of the pub there was NOONE to be seen. Really poor for a Saturday night. Won’t be returning.

Just been for a lovely meal in the tandem and was greeted by this very friendly woman named Donna. What a friendly professional treacle she was. Was well worth the visit. Big up Donna

The place needs work. However ill be sure to be coming back for the outstanding customer service of the land lady. And it was a great time.

Where do I begin with the tandem? Best service ever, lovely people and the food is 10/10. If you are looking for a place to chill with your friends or a romantic meal this is the place.

Absolutely beautiful meal! Haven't been there in about 15 years. Was met by barmaid/server Katie, she was really friendly. The crispy chicken strips were succulent, the steak was cooked to perfection and everything was very reasonably priced. Will definitely go again 😀

We often come to Tandem for lunch or dinner. We often get greeted by extremely lovely staff who are extremely helpful and patient. We been coming her for a fair few month more regularly due too how lovely Val, Donna, Katie often are. We built good friendships with the staff due to their friendly approach and they are extremely supportive and helpful with our daughter who has extra needs🥰 Hand down 5 star reviews every time we come in!! Never fail to disappoint. Alway recommend ‘the Tandem’ to our friends or family and always come here on special occasions. Extra plus : food is always yummy even with out awkward changes too the food.

Was a very lovely meal. All cooked really well. Only downside was the plate was too small for the food a mixed grill ending up flicking food off when cutting . But staff were friendly and helpful and was clean and tidy . Would definitely go back.

We really enjoy coming to this restaurant and the food has always been great as is the atmosphere. Today I have phoned to book a table to be on the safe side for a table for 12 as my mum is going home to Norway to be told that they couldn’t seat us due to having another big party in, I asked if we could sit on 2 tables as a 6 and a 6 but again I was refused to this too. They clearly don’t want our business which we are really disappointed in…….moral of this story is if you want a table for a large group book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

Been a few times for lunch, meals never disappoint, with good sized portions always served hot and always on warm to hot plates. Menu selection is large and rarely are items unavailable unless a mechanical problem causes issues. Meals are delicious with the steak & ale pie exceptional value. Well worth a visit at anytime.

Great bar and waiting staff friendly manger food was quick and hot very clean especially the toilet area one of cleanest IV been in and no unpleasant smells generally very happy with the experience at the tandem

The pub hosts the local football team every week and are very hospitable providing food for the teams after games. They also help in arranging and hosting club functions. A very helpful sponsor of the club and ensure it’s continued success

Went to the tandem for some lunch with the family They have a dog friendly section in the bar area and in the garden Very kid friendly restaurant area with polite staff Daniels service was fantastic and the food was cooked great all came out pipping hot Will be back

Food was bad quality and over done and it was like it was old or out of date

It does what it says on the tin. It feeds you, and at a good price. It ain't ever gonna be cordon blue but its stomach filling. The New Yorker was tasty but could've done with more of the sauce it came in.

Chicken Newyorker , chicken, bacon , Barbaque sauce chips, peas, onion rings . When asked if it was alright I said it's OK, unfortunately as I got through the meal the chicken was tough & not the best .

It was exquisite experience at the pub and at the sports bar which was good to watch whilst eating a good meal, I was served eleni who was very kind at getting sauces ext for me, she was amazing at the service throughout my time there at the pub.

Me and my friend ate at the tandem today for lunch and even though they were busy and quite clearly understaffed you couldn’t tell as the 2 ladies behind the bar were polite, kind and smiley throughout. Food was good. Food and drinks well priced. Will be returning!

The tandem definitely has got a lot better! Went for dinner with some friends, food was amazing compliments to the chef! Staff are very friendly and helpful, even though they were busy they were still doing a very good job! Very tidy and clean pub. New management has definitely turned the place around! Will be coming here more often!

Well, TheTandem has gone downhill. We arrived there on Saturday evening the stench that greeted us when going in the front door was awful. On further investigation we realised that is was coming from the toilets which are just inside the entrance. Staff were pleasant enough but my brother did say that his IPA tasted off. The food was very poor, was supposed to be chicken but distinctly tasted of fish (lunchtime fat I guess).Sorry I wont be recommending or returning again until I hear that there have been improvements .

Went for a roast dinner yesterday with some family. Food was really lovely and didn't have to wait too long. Compliments to the chef!
