Attended a wake here recently. We were well looked after with a good selection of finger buffet food.

Fabulous, lovely place, people and food.

Had a family meal out here and had a lovely time. The food was really nice, the servers are very welcoming and came over to check we were happy several times. The atmosphere is lovely and there is free parking along the road that can be used.

Amazing as always. Great way to start the Christmas holidays.

No much to say really.. Amazing is all that can be said fabulous food and service, chef came out at the end of service which you rarely see. One thing you definitely did see was passion in the cook as the the food was next level. Well done to all the team! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had a lovely meal here when away for weekend. There was a nice selection on that menu, food was really good and plenty to eat on the plate. Staff were very welcoming. Such a reasonable price for a three course meal. Wish we were local so could return again.

A lovely, neat spot with a welcoming interior and a decent outdoor space. Food was average - cold side of chips but the chicken and steak was decent with nice salads. Staff were pleasant enough.

Drink selection was poor. Staff were unhelpful. £18 for a flavourless tiny pizza was unacceptable

Lovely place with friendly staff

Very enjoyable evening. Lovely food and a nice atmosphere.

We eat at this pub on a recent visit to our daughter’s. It was a nice evening and decided to dine outside in the yard area, which is very pleasant. The young waitress was very nice and give us the menu and took the drinks order. We both decided to go for the specials (always believing they are the specialty of the day) my daughter had the mussels and I had the sweet spicy chilli pork and noddles. The mussels where plentiful but strangely came with chips? Usually mussels come with rustic bread! The chilli pork was bland at best, no kick and very little pork mostly veg. Overall I was disappointed with the food and wouldn’t rush back, maybe the chef needs to realise what bistro pub food entails.

Had gorgeous takeaway fish and chips, a real treat, beautifully fresh and great value for money. Looking forward to going back to eat here as our previous meal pre lockdown was delicious with excellent service.

I've been to The Crown on many occasions & always been completly happy with the service. The food is absolutely superb. I visited last night, first time out for a very long time & I wasn't dissapointed. Tables separated by a suitable distance & covid rules being followed. My meal was fantastic , so tasty with a wonderful selection of fresh vegetables. A real treat in these difficult times.

We had an excellent meal. Service excellent too. The 2 metre rule was observed and we felt very safe. Would recommend

We’ve eaten here many times over the past 18 months and always enjoyed great quality meals and good customer service. The Chicken Kiev is delicious and the Salmon is always cooked perfectly. Love the side of vegetables which have a great flavour. Great chunky chips, well cooked and super fluffy. They sometimes do a special whitebait starter which is lovely. We’ve visited several times since the Covid measures have been introduced and felt welcome and safe. The outdoor seating area is dog friendly and a great spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon.

This is the second time here, and again a very good meal served by excellent staff. The first time was a few months back - we had steak and chips was great and that prompted the 2 of us to book for our family meal for 6 on Sunday. Koftas to start for a few, and Whitebait for another, whilst i had Halloumi. Means was a mixture of Roast Turkey (and when they say all the trimmings they mean it, the best Yorkshire by far, Pigs in Blankets and Carrot Mash, Red Cabbage and Sprouts), Roast Beef for a few others whilst i had Pork Belly, Mash and Red Cabbage. For deserts we had Christmas Pudding and some had Raspberry Brulee Some lager, and Real Ale and all in all a well spent £163.90 Certainly would eat here (more) regularly - bar the fact that it is just about 2 hours drive.. But, many thanks we had a great meal

£4.20 for a large lime & soda... what a rip off !!! Food was nicely presented and tasted ok... but won’t be returning with drinks at that price.

There are many pubs in this area and I haven't tried the others which often look posher and quite inviting because we keep going back to the Crown in Shrivenham. The food is fresh and well prepared and there are things to choose for vegetarians that aren't overpriced and unimaginative - if they can do this for non meat eaters, imagine what they can do with easy ingredients like meat!

Friendly great service food fantastic

Decent people, warm welcome and good service although the food did not live up to the reviews I had read. Expected more. But apart from the sweet which definitely was not good (over aged cheesecake, too sickly and darkening on the edges) the food was not a bad standard, just not as good as reviewers would have you believe. Maybe we went on a bad day?

We were among the Crown's first customers when it opened 10 years ago. This was another lovely night out with friends. There was the usual warm welcome from staff. Each one of us remarked how good the food and service was. As our friends, who have been eating there with us for the past three years, the quality is consistently high. Would thoroughly recommend to everyone

Excellent food, lovely atmosphere and decent price. I'm especially happy they serve the beautiful Abingdon Bridge beer on draft. Friendly staff. Only let down by excessive wait for service and bill.

Not so much of a pub as a restaurant with a pub bar, the Crown serves excellent and reasonably priced food. The burger was handmade and absolutely delicious and the ale was very good indeed. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do more to help!

It’s been years since we visited The Crown. The menu was narrow (that’s a good thing in our eyes) but strong. The ambience was good - but insist on having a table that works for you. The wait staff were young, engaged and attentive. Most importantly the food was really good. Specials and steaks are always available. We’ll be back!

Great family Sunday lunch venue. Efficient staff and great roasts! Buzzy atmosphere and different areas of the pub/restaurant to sit in.

Visited the crown with a friend for a weeknight meal. Staff were warm and welcoming from arrival. Food was delicious! Definitely recommend the cheesecake. It felt as though there was a high level of attention to detail. I had a coffee and was offered milk, warm milk or cream and a top up if I would like. Staff were lovely and friendly and knew how often to come over to make sure we had everything we needed but didn't feel rushed. Will definitely be returning and would definitely recommend.

My favourite pub! Wonderful, relaxing atmosphere in a cosy traditional space. Great food, and Kate always makes you welcome and is very accommodating. Onion rings are amazing as is the steak. Great lunch specials at reasonable prices.

This place never disappoints - well only when we haven’t booked and they are full. The mains are lovely and they don’t mind if I swop my veggies around. A good solid choice.

Handy for a work dinner, good gin menu! The food was well presented.

We were a bit disappointed with the main courses compared with our past experiences, especially the slow cooked lamb dish. This was supposed to come with caponata but we were told upon ordering that it would come with quinoa and green beans instead, which sounded OK. What arrived was a bowl full of plain quinoa with small pieces of lamb scattered on top and some green beans mixed in. We expected the lamb to be a whole piece, like a shank. The dish was a bit like something you make yourself from leftovers at home. It was unclear why the kitchen wasn&#039;t able to provide a sauce with it. We did mention this to the waitress at the end of the meal but we don&#039;t know if this was passed on to the kitchen.<br />Other than that, the food and wine was good.

We love The Crown - the ambience etc. Love going there. But this is the second time we&#039;ve had badly cooked food. My Paella was almost inedible. Massively overcooked with meat you could take a hacksaw to. I had to leave most of it. Sorry Crown - you need a new cook

Excellent. (Based on a one off meal.) Just called in for the first time, after getting my IDP from the most friendly and informative post office. The chef and owner certainly knows how to cook fish - beautifully crisped salted skin, but just perfectly cooked flesh, just to the point of starting to lose transparency in the middle. Very difficult to achieve reliably. Coupled with a delicate capered cream sauce - 'excellent' is an understatement. Thoroughly recommended for those who do not value a meal by the number of inches that an overcooked steak overlaps the side of the plate.

Brought my father in law and his wife here for a thank you dinner, so while it wasn&#039;t a very special occasion, we wanted to treat them to something nice. The Crown is the perfect place for a casual special dinner providing a laid back atmosphere with fantastic food. We all had pizzas which were outstanding. My partner and father in law both had the meatballs to start which were also delicious. I was a little disappointed by the calamari which was a little bland and extremely oily, but everything else was on point. Service was also friendly and all the servers were attentive. Will definitely return!

Friendly staff and good quality food. Close to Blenheim palace

A very lovely building and nice decor. Food was very nice and the waiting staff were very helpful. The only thing that brought it down was half way through our meal, a large group came in, swearing and rowdy which ruined it a little. We hurried up our main course and drinks to get out of there. Also the bar staff should probably take their drug taking memoirs behind closed doors and not in front of customers at the bar.

We enjoyed our meal and the service was very good.<br />We were asked to specify the reason for coming to The Crown when we booked and I said it was for a birthday celebration ....there was however nothing festive about the table we were given next to the door of the well used store room ....

I really love coming to the Crown it&#039;s a lovely pub in Woodstock, which is nice to have a little walk around. The service at the Crown is always good.

Solid restaurant in great location. Nice, light &amp; airy, helpful staff and nice interior.<br /><br />Having been to the sister pub - The Anchor, this was something of a disappointment based on 2 issues;<br />1) the Sunday roast beef - described as ‘medium rare’ was over-cooked and tough<br />2) the ‘cheese plate’ had one cheddar-like variety(ie no variation) cut into triangles - very 1980s!

Excellent lunch with old friends. Limited menu but good range and very good to eat. Service was pleasant prompt and not obtrusive. Highly recommended; good value. Lovely warm fire on a brisk autumn day.

Nice food with a couple of unusual twists in the mains. Very good waitress, however when we walked in there was no obvious place to go for our reservation, the bar was over-crowded, and when we found the right place the staff were too busy to issue us a greeting. Will be back to try their Tapas evening.

Nice lunch meal. All meals were very nice, beer 1 ale, wine nice. Nice all round time.

Ate here tonight after wanting to for a while. Have walked past many times but never got round to eating here but so glad I finally did. The menu has plenty of options. The service was pleasant and attentive. The food was really nice and there was plenty on the menu I would if liked to try. The cheesecake was one of the best I’ve ever had. I am sure I will be back. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting some really good food when in the area.

We picked the Crown for the decor and interesting menu. We were not disappointed - very welcoming and outstanding service. Booked at 7:45 and then changed it to 6:00pm as we left Oxford at 5:00 using the App. The till picked up the change and the staff invited us to choose either the conservatory or bar. We chose the bar. Lovely table for two and great food and wine. 40% of customers book the Crown with Open Table and I can see the benefits for guests and hosts. First time using the App - very impressed and will definitely use it again.

Visited tonight, had Tuesday's special 8oz rump steak, the quality was more like sirloin. I can not praise them enough it was delicious. Well done. I will definitely be visiting again. Also staff very friendly and could do enough for us. Well done team crown

Very nice food and great service.

Despite not getting off to the best start after having to wait about 15 mins before the wine came, the food more than made up for it.

This is a lovely restaurant with excellent staff, prompt service and generous portions of good food. PLEASE shout about the fact that your meat is free range because it is becoming more and more important in diners&#039; lives and wasn&#039;t immediately obvious from your menu. All in all a job well done!

Nice place that’s bigger and trendier than it looks from outside.<br />The staff are really friendly but you have to catch their eye for service.<br />Service overall was quite slow, just Getting drinks took ages and then we received a food order from another group...... when ours finally arrived it wasn’t correct, but we ate it as it had taken so long.<br />Overall, the food was good, but service was below average.

This was a lunch stop on our way back to Sheffield from Poole, really fantastic food and lovely spot to hang out. Staff were lovely but weren’t really on the ball, think they were a bit short staffed. Would definitely go again if we’re in the area.

Great food, great atmosphere and great service. The manager is exceptionally good, extremely good customer care.

We attended the Spanish night and the place was busy and lively which we liked. The lay out and ambience was very pleasant and the waiter service was good.<br /><br />However, the paella was too dry and though the meatballs were excellent, the food was too expensive and not value for money. <br /><br />I would go again if the prices were lowered and you feel that you got a really pleasant experience but I hate being ripped off and like most restaurants in the UK, they are over priced and the standard of food inferior to when going abroad.

We have eaten at the crown quite a few times and have never had a bad meal, the staff are always wonderful and we love it!

We hebben lekker gegeten in The Crown. Echter bij de suggestie Prawns with gnocchi vonden we maar 4 Prawns, voor die prijs te weinig roze garnalen. Het kalfsvlees was zeer lekker , de steak met béarnaise was ook lekker en perfect gebakken.

We have eaten at this lovely restaurant a number of times but have yet to try a Sunday Lunch. I was pleased to see they offered the normal menu, some ‘specials ‘ & a roast dinner option. Three of us had Roast beef, which was excellent, beautiful roasties & wonderful gravy. My partner had the veal & he was in heaven!! The staff are so friendly & attentive. Shrivenham are extremely lucky to have this super restaurant.

Cozy pub, not fine dining. Food was okay. Within walking distance of several area hotels and B&amp;Bs.

Terrible food. First time we had to leave both sarters and main courses half way thorough, as they were either badly cooked, far too oily, very dry or simply not good. Smell of fried, burned food all around the tabkes didn&#039;t help the atmosphere.<br />We are sorry, but we don&#039;t feel like to recommend this to anyone.

Great lunch with the family..<br />Starter was amazing large prawns which came out of the skin perfectly in an amazing source, squid was fantastic melt in the mouth batter. <br />Main we each had a pizza, lovely and light with amazing toppings. <br />Drinks..amazing presentation.. so yummy. <br />We parked and Blenheim palace and walked to the Crown which was a lovely walk. <br />Can&#039;t wait to go back to the crown :) <br />Would say that it is not somewhere to go if you want a quite meal.. its a very busy pub with children and dogs.. for us perfect but might not be for everyone.
