I tried the soup of the day and a courgette side dish, and both were simply amazing. The soup was rich and flavorful, perfect for the season, while the courgette side was cooked to perfection, full of fresh taste and well-balanced seasoning. The service was prompt and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed, making for an enjoyable experience overall. Everything was well-prepared and exceeded expectations. Will definitely return—an excellent experience.

Walked in, two people two dogs. Lovely Sunday roast. Was absolutely lovely till I asked for a spoon, it was thrown at us via a waitress into the dish who then took there break. If she had said sorry I am On a break I would apologised. I think for a nearly 200£ meal staff need to get their professionally responsibility in order. Still tipped as the original host wast lovely.

Went to the Fishes for lunch with friends. An amazing experience. When the waitress came to take our order she also asked if we had any allergies which surprised me as not many resturants ask this. I had the Gnocchi , well presented with wonderful flavours, followed by a great coffee with a chocolate brownie. Would certainly recommend them and will definitely be going back again. Big thank you to all the staff.

First time at the Fishes and the atmosphere and service was great. The food main course was disappointing. My Sea Bream was pan fried and came with a handful of rocket a 3 new potatoes cut in half. The caper sauce was poor and for the money it just did not look or taste that great. We will try again at the Fishes but have to say if you charge over 20 for a main you can do better than what I was given.

Had a great experience here today celebrating my daughter’s 21st Birthday. Came up from Cardiff with the family to celebrate as a surprise, unfortunately one of the family had a flat tyre on route, called the restaurant to change the time of the booking and they were extremely helpful and accommodating. The food and drink were excellent and we would definitely go back. The main restaurant was a bit loud and the music was not to our taste - if I had known, I would have booked the conservatory. The restaurant was busy, but by no means full and so we should probably have asked to move. Our original waiter disappeared and at times we struggled to attract attention, but another waiter took over and tried hard to speed things up. I usually like to add tonic to my gin myself, but was not given the opportunity.

We have been going to The Fishes for many years but hadn't been in a while and we were really underwhelmed. It was very busy so I assume they are getting something right but our meal was a big disappointment, particularly since we have been happy previously when we have been there. I had the fish pie and my wife had the fish of the day and both were just ordinary, the fish pie accompanied by a "salad" - note to the chef, the definition of salad is "a cold dish of various mixtures of raw or cooked vegetables, usually seasoned with oil, vinegar, or other dressing", not just lettuce, which was on my plate. Similarly the desserts were just ordinary. This was also the verdict of our friends. I hope that this was a one-off and that we were unlucky but I don't think we'll be hurrying back.

Nice pub in a lovely location. Service was really very good, staff friendly and polite. Guinness was ok for value. Ordered Smoked Mackerel Pâté on Sourdough, Soft-boiled Egg, Baby Gem & Chardonnay Vinaigrette £9.75 from the lunch sandwich menu as it was a hot day and waned something light. It really was very light, only one piece of sourdough. I don't think it represented good value for the price, the side of chips for three and a half quid was very small. That all been said, the food was of good quality, delicious flavour, the chips were hot and stayed hot as they pre-heated the bowl they were served in. However, I stopped at Greggs for a sausage roll at the station to fill me up. If I go again, I won't order from the sandwich menu. I'll give it 4/5 due to friendly staff and prompt service but the food value is lower.

It's so, so delicious. I was lucky enough to have the summer menu, and the refreshing cod dish was a perfect combination of the sauce, which I had never tried before, and the richly textured black rice. The salad that came with Jimmy BBQ was crazy.🥹 There is an outdoor garden, and we ate in the terrace space where you can feel the outdoors. It is difficult to express in words how pleasant it was. This is by far the best restaurant I've had in Oxford. Many staff members responded very kindly, from guidance to explanations. Next time I come to Oxford, I will definitely come back and try the new menu!!!😉 Highly recommended!!!!!

On Friday me and my family came to eat at your pub. My son ordered a cheeseburger which was ok and my daughter the chicken piece kids meal which was really good and good valve for a kids meal. My real feedback is the adult mains. I ordered a cheeseburger which was two thin burgers the same burger in the kids meal but just 2 patties. The meat was really poor quality and really disappointing. My wife ordered a rump steak. Again not a very good cut of meat. Also your steak knives were so blunt it was very difficult to cut. We come to your pub most Mondays and Fridays for a drink whilst my son is playing football in the rugby club up the road. I just wanted to give you feedback on the food as I don’t think we will try again unless you get different produce/chef.

We knew the venue would be perfect for a sunny day and it was; However the food really wasn't good , the lamb was tough and many aspects of the two courses we all ordered tasted synthetic (shop bought and not tasty) we all love cauliflower cheese and this just wasn't cheesy?? Ordinarily we are not fussy but this was a Sunday Roast? not good value as we left a great deal. The staff were gracious and the price of one bottle of wine was taken from the bill. We were on an unplanned visit through the Cotswolds and Sunday lunch was the requirement. After a consultation with maps and clocks picked Oxford and this place was high on list. From the moment we parked in a very picturesque car park, we knew it was going to be good. We were early and decided to walk through local fields to maximise our hunger, went into the bar area and declared our self present. And the dream continued to be honest. We were tabled outside but we were well covered, plenty of heaters, blankets available but luckily the weather was kind. Out waitress was extremely pleasant and attentive, without over doing it which is a plus. We all 4 went for the roast in its various varieties and we were served our food promptly. The best bit however, and we have had many a pub/restaurant Sunday lunch, was what happened mid way through eating our meals. This Angel carrying plates came to our table asking if we would ‘care for any more Yorkshires or any more roast potatoes.’ In the ears of myself and my family this was like winning the lottery. And she kindly emptied her serving plates amongst us and we were in a shock looking at our plates. All the food was excellent and good value. The drinks list was very good, Both the inside and the gardens were really nice spaces and summer in the garden with The Wigwam seating and pizza truck I can imagine would make this a very desirable spot. I would not hesitate to recommend this to all and will always consider a stop of this way again.

This was our 3rd visit to The Fishes pub, the starters were great as usual but we were very disappointed with the mains.the duck leg that I ordered was one of the most salty dishes I have ever had in a restaurant. Cabbage, puree potato, panceta, and duck leg are all extremely salty, I expected this to be balanced but unfortunately all I could taste was salt. I asked for a recommendation but i said this dish caught my eye, all our sever said was the duck is good so I chose it with much regret. I must say I do prefer a personal recommendation rather than being told depends what you're in the mood for. The double cheese burger had no cheese in it and the bun was dry but the burger patties were cooked well and the sauce was delicious. The duck leg meal needs to be internally reviewed. The starters are the best part of the meal, garlic paprika prawns and the halloumi fries are both great, shame about the mains. Great atmosphere and service.

Summary: great food, great locations, great venue. Food is upper end of good but would excel with a few minor tweaks. We really like this place. It gets incrementally better. Super cosy, lots of space in both summer and winter. We had two dogs and a baby and we were welcomed with open arms. We had a lovely red wine each and the 5-cheese cheese board. @TheFishes, the cheese you get is the right amount and lovely. The only suggestion I’d give is I felt the dish would be so much better with a few more crackers and some More chutney. With what we were served, we ended up having nothing for the last two cheeses. …after many visits we realised we had points, which in turn, of course, mean prizes…free food and drink! So we added a dessert (sticky toffee pud). This was nice, came with ice cream. However, I’d suggest more toffee sauce and a touch more ice cream would add to things because things got a little dry towards the end. Hopefully you can this this place is pretty decent. Give it a try and see what you think. I’m pretty picky and think this place is one of my solid regulars

I had chicken schnitzel with fries and salad, water and a glass of wine. And tiramisu for dessert. The place has different areas: a front cozy outdoor area with heaters, a bar, seating down area, adjacent another area to watch live tv games; the restaurant area where we were; a decking area outdoors and some area for picnucs and outdoor summer seating in the garden. I went on a Friday night and the crowd was a mix, each on their area. There is free parking outside.

Really enjoyed this. We came from Dublin and brought her out here for dinner. Really nice, food very tasty. Great service.

Visited a friend in the area for the weekend, stopped in for a few drinks and a breakfast. The staff here are absolutely amazing, so friendly. Food was great and a perfect pint of Peroni or 3!! Highly recommend! I must mention the assistant manager Donna she is a real asset to your pub. Also Rachel, Chris, Laura and Harvey who I met during my visit a great team! I look forward to visiting again when I’m next in the area.

I find it hard to believe that the young lady behaved in the manner that she did. I have been using public houses for over forty-five years and I have never encountered such rudeness and such a lack of respect for a paying customer. 'This table's booked' was her opening line. The words were not spoken softly, they were spat out. I had been at the table for some fifteen minutes. There was no sign to say that the table was reserved. 'Is there another table that is free?' was my meek response. I shall paraphrase her reply...'if you want a seat you'd better go outside' was her forceful response. Rather than start an argument and cause a disturbance to others, I decided to leave.

A lovely stay with fantastic food. Dinner was truly excellent and breakfast was both generous and delicious with the best hash brown/rosti ever.
