We stayed for one night in room one on a Wednesday evening. Room clean and tidy. Clean towels and bedding. Kettle to make coffee and tea. Bathroom clean and good shower. Good value for a night's stay. We met friends for an evening meal in the pub. Amazing and freshly cooked indian food on site - onion bhajis were delicious, followed by punjabi butter chicken with rice and garlic nan. Fruit crumble for dessert was so scrummy 😋 Staff were friendly and welcoming We booked breakfast for 8am, but when we came down from our room, the pub was closed with all doors locked. We had expected it based on feedback from other guests. No learning taking place.. 8.15am, a builder arrived and phoned one of the owners. The pub was opened and told to come in. No apology or a good morning. Asked for two coffees, but cups were dirty but they replaced one of them with another dirty cup. Breakfast was good, full English breakfast, tasty, well cooked and hot. Toast and butter with coffee or tea. Made to feel we were an inconvenience to the family owners. Not a good customer experience. The staff member serving breakfast was polite and efficient. Food is very good here, freshly cooked and of a high quality. It is a shame the family owners don't get the importance of a good customer experience. Being punctual doesn't cost much. It was lovely to see monkjack deer in the fields when we woke up this morning - another selling point for the room and stay. Recognised new owners in place juggling a lot with a family, running a pub, accommodation, and ongoing building work, but please remember the customer experience. We would definitely stay again as convenient to our travel plans. The Indian food is definitely worth a try and they do take aways as well 👍

The food on offer was great, but no choice of real ales unless you like flack manor which I hate it's disgusting so cannot recommend.

Portway Inn, was the best place for breakfats for my family and I. we use to go each week. Todday we were turned away and was told they no longer accept outside customers only residents only. I have taken a picture of each of these. There terms and conditions, there website, their menu and when you walk towards the reception entrance from car park, no where does it say residents only can get breakfast. what a waste of time and fuel. I am so disappointed.

A lovely open modern barn building, with (very unusual and appealing) gifty merchandise at one end and the cafe/restaurant at the other end. If you don't like big open plan then this isn't the place for you. Tasteful interior, with very nice seating, clean and bright. it is a 'take a tray and pay at the till' place, using your table number for ordering hot food. I have to say that although I only had a jacket potato it was the best I've ever had anywhere. My fellow diners agreed that the food quality was very good and good value. This really is a lovely location for a nursery and garden centre, even approaching down the long winding drive is very rural and atmospheric. There is a delightful and historical feel to the areas where plants are kept, as there are tall walls and the way the plants are laid out for sale makes it feel like you are walking around an interesting walled garden. A really nice place to spend a while if you are a keen gardener, with very healthy and some unusual plants.

Have eaten here regularly for 12 months. Always been satisfied and happy after our visit. Two weeks ago there was definite change in atmosphere, it was almost empty and staff not their usual chatty selves. Different manager. The lasagne always came with chips. That day no chips, despite confirming it did come with chips. It came with some kind of bread - not garlic! A few days ago we dropped by for coffee and cake. Again it was not busy and staff appeared strained and subdued. This new manager was on duty again. I would say he is not a people person - essential in a restaurant. When choosing our cake it was obvious one had sunk in the middle and another had a top layer 3 times the height of the bottom layer. We ordered anyway. My cake was sad, I could tell with first mouthful. Partners cake did not have flavour or decor to match its description and was sunk in the middle. We ate it because it’s always been really good but it wasn’t. When cut we could see it wasn’t up to its previous standard. As well as the previously noted faults, the filling was not spread to the edges and where mine was solid my partners was crumbly. What has happened? Have they changed the supplier and management? SO Disappointing! We looked forward to our visits so much. Please address these issues as soon as possible! It’s so disappointing. We always looked forward to our walk and coffee/cake stop or a lunch treat. Please Garden Restaurant

My daughter and I found this cafe by accident. Here are our thoughts. 1. too small to allow dogs indoors. 2. could do with a bit of a refresh. The chair pads were stained and there were grease stains up the wall by our table. 3. toilet was very clean but on the first floor which meant climbing some very steep steps. Not disabled friendly. However my daughter who is vegetarian had a really good choice of foods and thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The young staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The coffee was delicious as was my hummus platter with Greek salad. The prices were good and I would highly recommend but I think it could be even better with a bit of a refurb. Didn't get to see the garden as it was too hot to sit outside but from the photos it looks really nice.

Terrace ambiance pleasant. Several interesting dishes albeit the nibbles and one starter would have been more enjoyable with better attention to details, including sufficient volume of the key content. Mains and sweets were very good/pleasant. A disconnect between the menu and drinks ordering possibly an "evening off" and/or easily remedied, and whilst irritating didn't spoil the visit.

Sadly this pub remains closed. Some work has been done on the building but there is no indication that it will reopen soon. Best to check before travelling. The nearest pub is the Black Horse at West Tytherley which has good reviews.
