Brewers Fayre Portway Inn in Test Valley

Portway Inn, was the best place for breakfats for my family and I. we use to go each week. Todday we were turned away and was told they no longer accept outside customers only residents only. I have taken a picture of each of these. There terms and conditions, there website, their menu and when you walk towards the reception entrance from car park, no where does it say residents only can get breakfast. what a waste of time and fuel. I am so disappointed.

So I got bored so I try to put 1 star review on my school but I found this and I live very close to it it’s next to maccie d so this must oh nevermind we did 100 characters

I've just eaten here with my son and his girlfriend's family. What a great find! The food was really lovely. We all enjoyed it and it was great value for money! The service was excellent. The staff were super friendly. They're truly an asset to the place. Thanks for a wonderful experience at your establishment this evening

Wow what can I say slow service made to feel unwelcome staff staring and whispering while your trying to eat what they call food

The staff in the Brewers Fayre are so friendly and helpful. Not to mention the food was very good. Amazing service and really good food would definitely come again!

I’ve been here twice with my friends and family and the waitress, staff and Bar # staff because they seem to be very very rude. Mostly women . Hence, a few weeks back. One of the waitresses was dressed in horseriding gear serving our food. i’ve also noticed that the waitresses park in the disabled bays and they work here. there seems to be the same familiar group, standing at the end of the bar, giggling and smirking and staring at people whilst they’re eating.. the food is outrageously disgusting. I would not recommend this place even to bring children here in the soft play. It is disgusting it is not clean I would not recommend and I would not be back no chance

We were staying at the adjoining Premier Inn and booked last minute. This is by far the friendliest Brewer's Fayre of many that we have been to. Good food and prompt, friendly service. Would highly recommend - keep up the good work!!

We went for a meal at portway inn last night having taken a break from using them for food approximately 6 months ago due to poor customer service. We only returned as our first choice for a family meal were fully booked so we decided to give portway inn another chance and were glad we did. Since our previous visit things seem to have massively improved with new staff that were efficient, friendly and couldn't do more to help. The food was excellent so we will definitely be returning. 100% improvement over our previous visit

Food was good and what we expected. The staff were very friendly. Jack who served us was really pleasant and particularly helpful.

Everyone is really lovely in portway but the standard of the cleanliness and toilets is really disgusting. The men’s toilets when we went were covered and wee and poo. Someone had pooped all down the back of the seat so it was leaking down the side. The women’s are always dirty, they are always blocked and never flushed (not the employees fault) but almost never clean, blood on the seats, blocked with tissue it’s really bad. There’s a sign saying they are cleaned regularly but it doesn’t seem like it. It’s a shame because otherwise it’s a really nice place, especially enjoy talking to the staff and coming for drinks. Just wish it was regularly checked like they say they do.

Just back from lunch for Grandsons birthday. I booked the table in week and got a reminder! On arrival we were told there was tablefor 20 in so service not that quick…..understatement! We were family of 5 and adjacent was part of around 12 including 3 children. When food eventually arrived they were serving both tables at same time…so…some got food well before others on table. Our Granddaughter had eaten her lunch before my Grandson got his….that is unacceptable. The food I have to say was excellent and presented nicely. There were 2 staff greeting /on bar/service . It wasn’t their fault and to be fair they were apologetic. The establishment knew how many tables were booked so get the staff you require. No excuses.

We ordered a chicken curry, which came out tepid and cheese burger with extra bacon. The fries were not fresh, they had been reheated (not fried) they were soggy and tough. The burger was overcooked and only just warm. Had to hunt for 1 small piece of bacon (cost extra 99p) no tomatoes in the restaurant at all. Absolutely dire meal.

Great service and good food will return.always friendly even when clearly busy. Good value for money and regular drinks always goes down well

Nice friendly staff with pleasant atmosphere and great food! Went in with family everyone was satisfied due to large variety of food at the breakfast buffet. Will definitely come back again.

We have tried to eat here a few times when passing through Andover. Usually they are not taking walk-ins. So this time we knew we were going through so booked a table. On arrival Al we were greeeyed by a lady saying they weren’t taking walk-ins. I informed her we booked, she finished serving at the bar and came to the greet desk and informed us there was an hour wait for food. Giving up on this place now. Went to chalk hill blue accross the road and they were very accommodating. Won’t bother with portway ever again.

Amazing customer service by phyliss. A very friendly person, helpful, came over to our table to ask how our food was. Food was lovely. Will definitely come again.

We visited here prior to going to the hawk conservancy trust for the late night show. We booked the table in advance, however weren’t made aware that there was a large table booked in and that service would not be as quick as usual. We ordered our food and ended up waiting 45-50 mins for it to come out after chasing it. The staff were apologetic but as we had somewhere to be after, it would have been good to know this prior to ordering our food. The food itself was really nice. The chips were good, coleslaw was creamy and burgers were also really nice. The other thing that let the place down was the state of the toilets. The ladies had a massive hole in the ceiling, the toilet roll had run out and was just on top of the sanitary bin, the tap was constantly running and the soap was empty.

Pop in for lunch although few tables the wait wasnt to long. The food was hot, fast and delicious. Chris the manager had a great customer service. helpful and very chatty, checked on any allergies which I do have. It was Nice break from work and will go back at a lunch time.

Whilst visiting family in Andover myself and my partner thought we would stop in for a bite to eat before the drive home! My daughter loved the manager Daniel who made such an effort to be friendly and welcoming to us! She also loved the unicorn slush puppie he offered her! The food was lovely just what we needed. Will definitely be stopping in again when in the area!

There was hardly anyone in restaurant so no excuses for the following. Nachos starter was abysmal (£5.49)- picture on menu shows a full bucket with nachos spilling out and describes lots of toppings. Out came half a bucket of singed crisps with a bit of cheese on and some tzatziki. When i pointed to the picture and said it doesn't look the same they came out with a small dish of chillis to add - i sent it back and it still didn't resemble anything so we gave up., Mushy peas with scampi were microwaved until they had become crusty! Two of us had the dish and they comped one of them - strange. But worst of all was the ladies loos - big sign up saying the duty manager checks these toilets regularly - well clearly not. They were dirty, there was no soap or hand sanitiser either. I pointed it out to the duty manager saying we could tolerate the lousy food but cleanliness is a deal breaker for restaurants these days - he said he hadn't been on shift long. Yeah yeah - not good enough. I sent in a complaint and they said they would get back to me - that's nearly two weeks ago and nothing!

Please help out the staff! Breakfast booked for 8.30am, seated at 8.50am and finally served by 9.30am. I know it’s tough with COVID but don’t take bookings for that time if it’s too busy! Guests ask for 8.30? No sorry, no slots available. Such a shame as the staff are doing the best they can. Food was actually pretty good just need to reset expectations.

We eat here 3 times whilst staying at the premier inn next door. As a party of 6 we had dinner once and breakfast twice - we had the meal deal so it was cheap! All staff had masks on during each visit, lots of signage to keep people moving round safely.Dinner - some of the dishes had clearly been set under a heat lamp for a while - the mushy peas in particular looked awful but tasted fine. Dinner was nothing special but as expected.Breakfast day 1 - we were the only people in there when ordering, another family didn’t come until a couple of minutes before our breakfasts arrived. Somehow 4 out of 6 of our orders were wrong when they arrived, porridge never turned up, the toast came out as if a starter 15 minutes before the cooked breakfasts! Not enough cutlery given to us. Once given our cooked breakfasts we weren’t approached again for a drink top up or pastries etc due to COVID nothing was self service (understandably) Breakfast day 2 - slightly busier than the day before, different waitress who was friendly and got our orders 100% correct! The toast still came out like a starter but we were happy just getting what we’d requested. We were offered additional drinks etc this morning and left feeling much happier with the service we got - I didn’t get her name but the waitress had long blond hair and was interacting with my baby niece which was lovely First brewers fayre I’ve been to without butter too - sunflower spread is not something I knew I had such strong views about until this weekend! Terrible stuff. There is a macdonalds next door and an Aldi 5 minutes walk away if you’re looking for alternatives whilst staying in the premier inn

We have stayed at the premier inn next door last night which I cannot fault and we had dinner and are currently having breakfast here. The waiters/waitresses are all polite and helpful but they are being made to serve too many tables which affects the service and we were unable to order any additional drinks in between them serving our food which was pretty average (kids chicken pops were vastly over cooked and almost inedible). Breakfast is another story. We were seated at 9.35 and we waited 15 minutes before someone took our order. Drinks then arrived 10 minutes later along with the toast we ordered to go with our breakfasts but no knife so even if we were happy to eat this as a starter to the main breakfast we couldn’t and the main food finally arrive 50 minutes after taking our seats. Was it worth the wait i here you ask..........absolutely not. My Fred egg was over cooked and my husbands order had items missing. Overall very disappointed and we will defo skip breakfast if we stayed at the premier inn again and opt instead for the MacDonald’s opposite.

We visited here on Saturday with our 3 children. We had stayed at the premier inn next door overnight. Even though it was busy a young man smiled and informed us someone would be with us shortly, another family were in front of us and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. We were greeted by a lovely lady who asked for our name and said table for 2. We explained it should be for 5 as we have 3 children with us. She checked her tablet and changed our table as the hotel had booked us as 2 adults and not a family of 5. We were shown to a table by a window and the young lady said she would return as soon as she had taken an order from the previous guests she had seated, ( they were in front of us ) I will say that the young lady was just as polite to these guests but the other guests were very rude towards her. She returned about 10 minutes later, apologised for keeping us waiting. She was very efficient in taking our order and returned with our drinks quickly. Our food came out about 10 minutes. The whole family enjoyed their breakfast and we will certainly be back.Well done to you all and thank you

Had a meal for our son's birthday at lunch time, was served by Dennis who did a brilliant job, food came out quick and was lovely and hot all had the roast dinner and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the experience, definately made us feel comfortable and safe with covid regulations in place will be back in a few weeks for our other sons birthday.

We had to wait to be seated for a lengthy time, ok not really the issue, the lady who finally asked about our booking was rude from the outset, saying that we should have booked our child in for breakfast as it determines seating numbers, we advised the lady that we had informed the hotel of numbers required, we were then put in the corner out of the view of anyone serving so had to chase service, waited over twenty minutes to then get the waitresses attention to be told they were busy!!!! When they’re clearly are not bursting at the seems, especially in this climate!! our breakfast service has taken an hour so far and we still haven’t had the full order!!! What a shambles.

Evening main meal staff attentive orders made food served in good time, food was well cooked and enjoyed by all, unfortunately had to endure lengthy wait for the desserts had to remind staff we had people waiting for their deserts. Breakfast - oh dear what a difference, shown to our table by one person then had to wait until someone remembered to take our order, when the food and drinks started to arrive toast was brought without knife or butter and cereal was forgotten. When cooked food was brought to the table fresh toast was requested with butter, unfortunately only the butter arrived . Also, not all cooked items which were requested were served.When we left we passed 2 members of staff who did not acknowledge us.

Had the meal-deal. Both times no waiting as booked times at premier inn reception. Food was good and staff pleasant and trying hard.

After booking a set time for an evening meal we waited well over an hour for a plate of Fish and Chips. When it arrived the Fish was inedible and had to be sent back for a replacement. One of the waiters did not wear a mask the entire time we were there. Having made the mistake of booking breakfast for the following morning we arrived at our allocated timeslot to be told there was at least a 40 min delay before food could be brought to us. Funny old thing but we left!

Provided a wonderful full English Breakfast as part of our stay at Premier Inn. Friendly staff working hard to help make a great start to the day.

Three of us eat out to celebrate a family birthday. Was feeling apprehensive as we hadn't eaten out since before lockdown. Staff were professional, followed distancing, friendly & helpful. Although it was a limited menu we all found something we fancied and when the food arrived it did not disappoint. Observed other staff throughly cleaning down tables after other diners had left. Felt reassured that everything was being done to maintain people's safety.

The staff were very attentive with also social distancing, the breakfast was cooked to perfection 3 mornings running. Well done to you all.

Excellent, robust social distancing measures in place. Full table service, food arrived promptly and piping hot, unlimited refills for drinks and at £18 for family of 5 you can’t go wrong.

It was really last minute to eat here, we didn’t make a reservation for tea, we were stopping overnight Marlborough and the Toby Cavary and Harvester didn’t have tables until really late, brewers fayre did. We were not so keen given our dire experience at an alternative a few nights ago but this couldn’t have been more different.Right from the go the staff were wonderful, lovely and cheery, friendly and were really helpful.The food was standard pub food. Nothing special but filled a gap and was cheap as they were offering blue light discount. Service was speedy, table cleared promptly.Couldn’t have been anymore different to the last brewers fayre we ate at.

My family and I stayed at The Premier inn in Andover and had our evening meal at The Portway Inn adjacent to the hotel.Although the menu was limited the quality of the food was of good standard and nothing was too much trouble in way of ordering preferences.Our waiter ( Josh ), although a relative newcomer to being waiting staff, he was polite, friendly, attentive and very efficient.Would recommend a visit.

Booked for 10 people, although waited some time to be served, food was great. although not on full working menus due to covid19, there was still quite a large selection to choose from. Will def return.

Situated on the outskirts of Andover and adjacent to a Premier Inn. Excellent food and service Pleasant and attentive staff and spotlessly clean. Will certainly revisit at some point. Ample car parking space

Celebrating parents anniversary service was great, social distancing was great whilst handing over drinks and food, meals were cooked and delivered in a good time couldn't fault the evening team would definately return again

Went for reopening after lockdown made to feel very safe and secure with screens one way systems in place all staff very welcoming and friendly food was to a very good standard will be back

We have visited here before.Last minute decision to meet up with family for breakfast, 10 of us in total. Although restaurant was busy Tracey came over welcomed us and asked how many were in our party. After showing us where we could find everything she took us to a table near the play area, which the children thought was brilliant. Both Tracey and the other member of staff were kept busy with a steady stream of customers and their requests. Both hot and cold areas were kept topped up to a good standard ensuring everyone was kept happy. Well done to the chef who was definitely keeping on top of the hot buffet.Only down side was that it would have helped if their had been another member of staff to help clear tables. Expecting 2 members of staff to keep both food areas full and clear tables once customers had left was stretching them too thinly. My husband commented that on previous visits their has been 3 or 4 members of staff. Maybe the manager could look at this in the future. Thank you Tracey, the chef/chefs and the other young lady for yet another great breakfast our family will certainly be back

Staff were very busy as lots of customers. Despite that the food came quickly . Unfortunately the food wasn’t great, potatoes were cold and the meat very overcooked and dry .

Tasty ribs and chicken covered bbq sauce plenty of meat on them cooked lovely staff all friendly and polite

Having found myself with time on my hands, and finding this restaurant close by. Decided to have a meal. Upon entering it was quiet, with music playing in the background. The lady behind the bar welcomed me and explained that once I had found a seat and chosen my meal I could order at the bar. I did this quickly as I was hungry. Bar person took my order and it was bought out about 10 minutes later by a young lady called Kelly. She was friendly, polite and knowledgeable about the meal I had ordered. I be finished Kelly cleared my plate and asked if I would like a dessert to which I said no thank you. Lovely experience and will certainly be returning

Staff was rude and not very helpful. Table was dirty and sticky. For toke 45 minutes the gammon I had was overcooked. The portion of chips I had was so small wasn't worth going there

Wanted to post on here as have been coming for a few years now. Always impressed with staff, especially Matthew, who we are sad to hear is leaving. Good luck in your next venture and i'm sure staff will keep us updated.The sunday carvery is great value and we have been up for the 2 for £8.99 at lunch times as well. Never any issues on food.

Always come up every Sunday for the carvery and never have any complaints. Staff are always lovely and helpful.

Went here this evening Staff were very polite Food was just OK for the price paid I would have liked normal chips not the ones that they think are a healtier opinion by leaving the skin on Maybe have the choose We had Vegans and vegetarians in our party and they all enjoyed the food

Took my 4 little cherubs to visit Santa for breakfast this year and was amazed from start to finish, plenty of lovely activities and made my kids day, me and mrs Santa were very friendly and engaged well with the kids unlike other sit photo and go Santa’s we chatted for ages and really felt comfortable and not rushed , would highly recommend to anyone

What a lovely surprise to meet Mrs Claus and Santa today at Portway Inn! Mrs Claus was so lovely inviting all the Children to meet Santa, and Santa was very sweet and patient asking the children what they would like for Xmas before giving them gifts, then they had a lucky dip too! Was really nice.

After travel back from a few days away we called in for breakfast. It was so lovely to see how Santa was set up. Mrs Claus and helpers were absolutely brilliant with the children. A big thank you to all concerned

Visited Portway Inn last weekend with my grandchild. Lovely to see an area all decked out for christmas with a Mr and Mrs Santa for the children. Mrs Santa was fantastic made my grandchild feel relaxed (usually very shy,), and had a lovely time. Would definitely recommend.

20 of us visited Portway Inn early this evening to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday and I have to.say that all the staff did us proud. We had a lovely evening, all the meals from starters to desserts came out together.

Very poor service. Waited 45 minutes for a meal and only arrived after being prompted and to top it all it was like warm and cooked as an after thought. No acknowledgement, other than they had a large order. Something wrong when you can’t deliver quality food just because of a big order. Staff can’t be bothered then neither can I. First and last!!

We drove out of our way to go to Portway Inn for breakfast this morning, it was 10.35am and breakfast is supposed to be served until 11am. When we arrived staff very rudely told us they were 'out of breakfast' - 25 minutes before they were supposed to finish serving, no apology either! It seemed more like the staff couldn't be bothered to cook any more food so was very poor. We've had Brewers Fayre breakfast in the past which have been great but would steer clear of this one again!

With a 5-year-old who has a diet impacted by multiple allergens finding somewhere to eat out can be the most challenging part of a day out - thankfully as I discovered through conversation whilst visiting that Dan and his family led team have a great deal of professional and personal experience in this regard.

Went Thursday night with family as decided at last moment to eat out had festive meal along with other meals. Dan and all his staff were very welcoming and all food was piping hot

Ate in many Brewers Fayre locations and whilst the menu offer in very good and the actual quality of the food is tasty, plentiful and appealing this location was disappointing.

After deciding to have breakfast with our Premier Inn stay in Andover we ate here. This well run Brewers Fayre we found nothing was too much bother. Wide choice available on whatever breakfast suits you and all at a good price.

Went in just after 1:30 had excellent service from both Elaine on the bar with drinks and taking pudding order and Dan from making and servicing puddings. Definately would be back for another visit

We visited on a Friday night at about 8.30pm. It was surprising to see it so empty, but it seemed most people were staying en route to somewhere (as were we).

The food was horrible ! Dry burgers and kids meal was disgraceful. Manager looked like he had been dragged trough as bush backwards! Couldn’t even tuck his shirt in never mind run a restaurant. Do not eat here !! Service from all personal was horrendous!

We booked to have an early meal - 2 for £8.99. I had gammon and pineapple and mu husband had the same with fried egg. Generous portions, and then we had a scrumptious dessert.(£1.99 each) A bottle of Italian Rosso for £9.99. So an excellent meal at a very good price
