Enjoyable Halloween quiz and lovely desserts, will definitely return again, is a laugh and a good night out for family and friends

I recently visited the Chalkhill blue in Andover for a birthday celebration. We were accommodated with full attention, birthday banners and cake brought out etc

We arrived without a reservation and were quickly seated. The food arrived very promptly and was nicely presented. It was tasty and hot. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Stop off for a break coming back from Devon customer service was good loads of parking and disabled entrance 👍

Had my birthday lunch at Chalkhill Blue on Friday, we did have to wait for a while before our food arrived, but the staff apologised for the wait, and the food was delicious, the staff were lovely especially Lydia who was our waitress. We will definitely dine with you guys in the near future. Thank you for a lovely birthday.

First visit to the Chalkhill Blue. A lovely spacious pub with a beer garden. A warm welcome on arrival and Covid restrictions clearly in place. Very good service and not a long wait for our food to arrive. A nice selection of options on the menu. Will definitely visit again in the future.

Our first family Sunday lunch at Chalkhill Blue did not disapoint. Not only was the food well presented and delicious, the staff were attentive and helpful. Would recommend and we will return.

Hadn’t stopped here before, but will definitely to do so again. Good menu selection, Lydia our server was very helpful bringing us extra gravy for our pies. Food was hot and tasty. Great value for money.

A great celebration graduation meal at Chalkhill Blue with family and friends. Lydia looked after our party splendidly. She also demonstrated a sharp focus on food allergy requirements. We were all impressed with Lydia's relaxed, though timely service. We would happily return to Chalkhill Blue as a result of our visit today.

Food was very basic and sadly not well cooked. It certainly didn’t reflect the price we paid. I was very disappointed. Desert was tiny for over £7, The glasses and cutlery were really dirty. Whilst the waitresses were friendly service was very slow. I have been here before about 1 year ago and it’s sadly gone down hill. Dear manager: Please check the glasses behind the bar and also please don’t leave new bar staff to serve on their own as this firstly sets the whole evening off to a wrong start for the customer and also destroys staffs newly found confidence. We had to wait for ages to be served our drinks and the new bar tender was very inexperienced and told us she is sill learning and just started however the poor thing had been left on her own.

Firstly, Lydia our server was amazing, could not have done more, so big shout out to her. Food was top class, I had fish and chips and they were cooked to perfection and tasted even better! My wife had the scampi and was very impressed it was also cooked to perfection and she said it tasted awesome. The desert was filling and moreish. Also had a 30% off voucher, which to our surprise we can use again multiple times before a certain date. 10 out of 10 and would highly highly recommend

Family with a child who is Coeliac. The team have fantastic knowledge and understanding, and she is always pleased she can have a burger in a roll and chips! Not something we find in many places. The food was great, the roast was amazing! Nothing too much bother, very accommodating.. We’ll be back soon! Thank you!

Good food, basic menu but plentiful and good quality’

Welcoming staff and good range of drinks and dishes. We were seated amongst a cluster of tables quite close together but did feel quite private nonetheless. Food hot and fresh. Would have had a dessert but theu were quite pricey, had coffee instead, only offer decaf instant.

Chalkhill blue staff was attentive and welcoming during my experience.

Been coming here for around 18 months never had a bad meal, staff are friendly and happy to help, restaurant always clean and food well priced. Chicken Tikka was exactly what I was craving 😋 Totally reccomend

Edit 13th October.. went back for a second time... Same great food... Kids enjoyed the play area outside.. The place was very nice, spacious and clean....Greeted at the door by a very pleasant fella who I believe was part of the kitchen staff... Self serve at the bar... Bar staff very pleasant... Food was nicely presented and tasted good.... Only one minor issue is that nobody came and cleared the table after the meal was finished, but I find this happens often in most restaurants these days... A place I'll go back to and highly recommend..

Service was extremely slow. Took 45 mins from arriving before main meal order was taken. Nobody came to check everything was ok with food or to take more drink orders. Empty glasses where all left on the table when more drinks were purchased which made the table overly cluttered and uncomfortable.

Lovely, cosy settings for our meal on Friday evening as we chose to dine here all the way from Exeter whilst visiting. Greeted with by a lovely host, who was friendly and attentive to our needs (didn't get her name tho, sorry!) We were offered table service or to order at the bar to which we chose the bar option freeing up hosts for other guests as we like to order food and drinks at our own pace. Starter was grilled camembert share plate, delicious onion relish and enough for the two of us. Along came the main course, the burger and the grilled kebabs with an extra helping of a kebab (eyes bigger than my belly) very flavoursome and definitely didn't scrimp on the halloumi in regards to the kebabs, absolutely spot on! My husband asked for dessert and wanted to get recommendations from staff to what their favourite was and the melting dime didn't disappoint him, plenty of caramel sauce! The cheesecake and cherry compote could have done with a bit more sauce as it wasn't enough to enjoy with every mouthful but the extra caramel sauce from the husbands dessert helped, and that's my only disappointment throughout the experience. Lovely to see the place still operating as well as it did back 12 nearly 13 years ago. We were one of the very few lucky people who got to visit the premises when they first opened up for a free dining experience and still just as good now as it was back then. We shall be back to visit again soon.

There were four of us dining here this evening. The food was very good and the service first class. In particular, Lydia was great. She was cheerful and polite and ensured we were happy with everything. I would recommend this place.

Had a table booked here for a family meal at 5pm for 4adults with 2 children, when we arrived around 15mins early we were seated in a far corner away from the only staff we could see. After 10mins of waiting for service we asked if we could move to another table where we would be seen by staff. We were rudely told no there was no other tables available, the pub had 95% of table unoccupied at this point. Appreciate there may be bookings later but these could have been swapped as they hadn’t arrived yet. We were assured more staff were due to start immediately and service wouldn’t be an issue. Another 5 minutes later a waitress, who came across as being inconvenienced by having to serve us came over. we asked if the music could be turned down as there was a speaker, the member of staff snapped back “I could but it will affect the whole area.” At this point we decided to leave and take our buisness elsewhere and will recommend others do the same. We had been warned earlier in the day service was slow but we decided to give the pub a chance, this was a mistake

When you go in as a family of five, the first three meals come out cold, and then the next two come out hot!! “ Oh, it’s okay. We’ll Replace them “ What’s the point when the replacement meals take 25 minutes to come out to the table?? The whole point of a family meal is to eat as a family. Not even a sorry! Shocking food, shocking service! Should have known better, from a Marstons! We had already walked out of the White Hart hotel in Andover Town centre as the Carvery was dried up and not looking edible🫣😞

Food took a while but staff were friendly and polite and helpful.

I booked a farewell lunch for one of my colleagues. The food and service was great, especially as there were 15 of us and the rest of the restaurant was busy. Lydia was looking after our table and she did an excellent job all round. Thank you for making this occasion memorable.

My husband, I decided to come to the Chalkhill blue for dinner. Everyone that served us had a big smile on their face. Nothing was an issue. I’ve decided to have the steak for dinner which I really enjoyed and my husband had the steak and ale pie in which he enjoyed. Well done guys

Absolutely brilliant, 30 of us went for a meal, they were fast hot beautiful home cooked food, 100% will be going back.

Your customer service was PERFECT communication between your front of house team EXCELLENT. I was given just the right amount of attention and your staff picked up on little things that make the experience easier. I said I’m just going to open my lap top they said well let’s find you a table with a socket!

Food was terrible. Hunters chicken meal and steak and ale pie meal served lukewarm with the exception of the pie. Very little on the plate for the cost. Staff were pleasant. Won't be going back again.

Staff were very helpful and the venue was spotlessly clean. It was however, let down by the food. I ordered roast turkey which came out quickly but was not piping hot. The meat itself left a lot to be desired with sinew running through it. Definitely not good value for money or particularly good quality I'm afraid.

Such a lovely atmosphere, waitresses were efficient and friendly and food came within 15 minutes of ordering. We had the buttermilk burger and the signature burger, both were absolutely lovely and we would definitely recommend!

I enjoying eating at Chalkhill Blue. The food is always of a very good standard and the staff are attentive and helpful. The decor and overall atmosphere is very relaxing and enjoyable.

Had a family dinner here. Didn't book a table as eating early but they had lots of bookings from about 6:30 onwards. Food is straightforward pub grub but it was very tasty and decent sized portions. I had crumble and custard for desert and it was the highlight of my meal.

Well the chief did his best to cook my ribeye steak I was disappointed with the quality I paid £30 for a ribeye steak and a glass of wine the steak was cooked perfect but it was a shame that that steak was of low quality And I will not be going back to that restaurant again sorry guys but it was a shame about the quality Not that into the Deco as well Now I know why the restaurant was so empty

Rather slow service. Also the usual "errors" as at most mid-priced pubs. 1. Asking if milk was wanted in an Americano (I would have ordered a Latte or a Flat White if I wanted milk). 2. Serving coffees and teas before deserts that were all ordered at the same time. Surely the drinks should arrive after the deserts.

Visit here quit often for food dog friendly which is great food is good quality nice atmosphere, friendly staff.

Cannot speak highly enough of the establishment. Everyone loved the food. The service was perfect with Christine looking after us brilliantly. I recommend this absolutely. Top notch in all respects and will come back again. And probably again.

The food is good value but pretty average. Service is friendly, decor is nice, handy for those staying in the Travelodge or Premier Inn.

The buffet breakfast is a must try.

Beautiful interior, however we don't go to dine just to enjoy the look of the place. The table outside where we sat was dirty and wobbly, the umbrella falling apart, splinters on the benches. The food wasn't great; no dressing on/with the salads, not even an olive oil at least, sand in between salat leaves and a hair! There were 8 of us having family gathering. We came back home with heavy stomachs and some digestion problems! That wasn't our first visit in Chalk hill Blue and we can clearly see that each time we are more and more disappointed with the food. We will not come back Go if you are looking for place to have a coffee or a pint, food- no!

I came here with my family as a cheeky drop by on either the 17th or 18th of this month. The lovely Tracey took us in and was absolutely amazing with us. We have a 2 year old names Tyler who has a milk allergy. Our waitress Syndey was incredible tak8hg care of us and making sure all of Tyler's food was accommodating Tyler's allergies. The atmosphere was incredible and the staff was amazing here. I honestly recommend anyone who comes by this lovely place to stop by. I couldn't pick a fault if I tried.

Lovely relaxed meal, good staff

I had an accident near the pub, when a deer ran in front of me on the A303, and my car was a write-off. Tracy and the pub staff were amazing, not only making me feel welcome and calming me down, but suggesting a local garage, giving general advice and letting me sit there after hours whilst they were clearing up and I was waiting to be picked up. ABSOLUTE STARS - thank you so much!
