HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VENUE Came in for lunch today with my mum as we wanted to find a new place to celebrate a birthday in the family next month. What can I say about the Chalkhill Blue? Their customer service was excellent and the food was superb! I cannot say enough good things about our experience today - if you haven’t been here yet I highly recommend it. The venue itself is very welcoming, the staff were very attentive and the food was cooked perfectly. I had the chicken burger which was *chefs kiss* it wasn’t greasy and the portion sizes were spot on.

We were staying at the hotel across the road as part of my son’s rugby tour so booked a table for 42 people approx 2 weeks prior. We were greeted by a lovely friendly lady upon arrival and shown to our tables which were ready and waiting for us. Orders were taken quickly and the food arrived in good time, all hot and tasty. Everything on the menu was available and nothing ran out despite the larger number of steaks orders! We could not fault the restaurant which was clean, tidy and well maintained or the friendly accommodating staff. We’d definitely book again if we’re back in the area 😁

Service was good, staff very polite. Place was clean and tidy. We were a table of 10 and was seated with benches, these were ok for the younger members of the family, but a little bit awkward to get in and out of for the older members! Starters were nice, but the some of the mains, not so good. Veg was either overcooked or dried out. 2 carrots does not constitute a portion. Mash was very heavy and sticky, lumpy . Pies weren't too bad, pastry was OK. Overall we will return as the ambience is always pleasant and staff good and welcoming.

Really good modern pub. We found also that Andy behind the bar, served good old fashioned service the way it should be along with excellent cask ales and knowledge of the product. Recommended!

We came here for a family meal & to play the quiz, the food, service & atmosphere was amazing, we will definitely come again, the quiz is so much fun we certainly recommend people check it out if your looking a fun night out with lovely food & service

Visited the restaurant on the 12th April with my sister before heading out for the evening. We ordered off the lunchtime menu had the 3 courses which was cooked to perfection. All staff were friendly and very welcoming would definitely recommend the restaurant and will be visiting again

Went there monday, food was awful. Barely cooked meat. Chips were old and nasty, gravy was like poorly done OXO and the staff had a real bad attitude and couldn't be bothered! We went be back!

What a lovely restaurant! Easy to find and park used the website to book table so simple to book. Food & drink are superb value, every one on the table enjoyed the variety & quality of food on offer. Service was exceptional and very swift delivery of drink and quality food. Will definetly be returning and see this as a regular venue for meeting friends.

Cannot speak highly enough of the establishment. Everyone loved the food. The service was perfect with Christine looking after us brilliantly. I recommend this absolutely. Top notch in all respects and will come back again. And probably again.

I booked with my children to meet with friends. We were seated straight away and drinks arrived quickly. Our server was lovely and she took our order when everyone was there, the food came in good time and everything was correct and delicious. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone we spoke to was super friendly. The kids really enjoyed the outdoor play area. We will definately be back.

Food tasty but child's portion was so ridiculously small it was returned to the kitchen. Service painfully slow. Wouldnt sdvise if your in s hurry.

Booked yesterday for my daughter’s 10th birthday, we were looked after by Lydia who made us feel very welcome , very professional and patient with our orders, timed everything to perfection, no long wait between courses. Overall a good experience although having booked the lady on the desk said she couldn't see my booking but they had space in the bar area. It was alright but not where I had booked for. Food was good & good service although got slower as it got busier. All in all a good evening

This is a very nice venue. We had the Roast options being a Sunday and whilst the food was very tasty, it wasn’t really hot enough. However, there were no staff around whilst we were eating so we just got on and finished our meal. When a waitress did finally appear to clear our plates, she asked if everything had been ok and when we expressed our dismay that the food wasn’t as hot as we’d have liked, she gave us free desserts. So I’d like to give a shout out to Christine who I felt dealt with our minor complaint extremely well. One big complaint though is the location of the disabled bays for parking. They should be directly out the front rather than right round the side where there is no access to the pub. Having a disabled friend with us highlighted this issue.

Had a large party (23) for a 50th birthday celebration. We all had a fantastic time. The management were extremely accommodating and very helpful, the location was great and the food was really good. Everybody really enjoyed it and we would definitely recommend it and use it again.

I go here for the Quiz nights. The staff are very thoughtful about seating us near the quiz master so everyone taking part in the quiz are together. Any problems with the meals such as running out of sweet potato fries, they will tell you about the problems and suggest a way they could rectify it.

I'm a regular customer and I have seen how the venue has grown in the last 5 years. Now, there is a great new menu and over the past two visits I've had 2 excellent meals. Great setting, good atmosphere and professional and friendly staff.

We were proper "last minute dot com" - but managed to book a 15.15 slot online whilst travelling back from Shepton Mallett. Standard chain roast dinner - but the attention/service was excellent. We were quickly told what was available and what wasn't. Why is this good I hear you ask? Well, too often you pore over a menu, come to a decision, and it's only then you're told they've sold out! I call this good service. We will be back - thank you.

Very enjoyable experience, staff were efficient, knowledgeable and friendly - we were served by Lydia. Restaurant was pretty busy for a Thursday lunchtime and we took advantage of the steak and wine offer. All in all very pleasant. Will definitely visit again.

Visited Sunday evening around 5:30pm, food was good and was served quickly. Our waitress / woman taking the orders never smiled once or tried to have a conversation with us. I appreciate it was fairly late on a Sunday evening but the best way to describe the atmosphere was just awkward and like we shouldn't have been there. Overall, I don't think we'd return, just as the waitress was quite unwelcoming and the atmosphere was really weird.

Our waitress Tracy has served us a few times recently & is always very welcoming & friendly. This visit was no different, she made sure we were happy with where she sat us, gave us great service & ensured we had everything we needed. The food was lovely as always & it's becoming a regular for us as we can't fault it.

Family with a Coeliac child - the team had fantastic knowledge and understanding, and she was so pleased she could have a burger in a roll and chips! Not something we find in many places. And to top it off, she was able to have brownie and ice cream! 20/10! Overall the service was great, Tracy was helpful, friendly, attentive and happy to help us with throughout. I have been in for food a few times I've always enjoyed the atmosphere, however on my most recent visit with my family, we were greeted by a fuller figure female with dark greasy hair who had such digusting body odour she walked us to our table the stench in yor restaurant due this female lack of personal hygiene put us off our food .Seriously management why are you allowing what used to be a nice family pub now being greeted and food served by this individual with such bad body odour wearing dirty smelly clothes she represents your restaurant I manage 200 staff I would never allow my staff to come to work with such digusting hygiene make this a wake up call. Please do not ignore this is a official complaint. We will be back in the near future to see if the personal hygiene standards have improved.
