Noisy children running amok spoil what could otherwise be a pleasant experience

Came for lunch. Nice pie, good mash. Not super speedy service, but I guess food is prepared fresh so it's okay to wait a bit.

Wow what pub Emma and her team really looked after us.

I'd like to specifically give 5 stars to louisa. My daughter is celiac and although the chef didn't have the gluten free bun she wanted, louisa was so accommodating and did everything to make sure we had the best experience possible. My daughter is also autistic so it's very tricky finding gluten free food and then when she has something in mind to have to change that. But louisa was helpful and friendly and my daughter responding really well to her which is a massive thing for her. So thank you for being so understanding

Decent enough food and a relaxed atmosphere. I liked the exposed beamwork throughout the interior - it added to the cosy feel of the place. Friendly service.

My previous meal was very nice, but last night we had 3 rump steaks. They really were the worst steaks I have been served in any pub. Really thick, raw in the middle, pale meat and tastless. I went for no chips and extra salad. The salad was a joke. Wilted. You can tell the chef was not making any effort at all. I'm not rushing back.

Came with the kids and had a really great lunch, the food was hot and tasty, the bar looked great as it had recently been changed around and the tv is a great idea hopefully it’s permanent and not just for the rugby :-) Fish and chips and cheese and bacon burger were on a great £25 deal so the price was good too! Emma and her bar staff were really good and kept us up to date with the new deals and offers that are available Need to try the steaks next as there on offer on Saturdays with some drinks

It was an anniversary of mine and my partner. This is where we had our first date. To be disappointed is an understatement. We were taken to our table and with our drinks. I asked for a straw for my partners drink and with waiting…. I went and got it myself. When ordering food the starters were overdone. I had the garlic mushrooms and couldn’t even put a fork in it!!! We then ordered a lamb shank and asking for a steak knife to cut it! I then asked to be taken back to be done better. My dish then returned to the table on the same plate that I had sent back!! To say it was taken off and put in the microwave!!! It was a total disappointment. I will not be returning or recommend any one to come for dinner here. The only plus was to be offered a desert. No thanks!!!

A friendly cosy pub with exposed brickwork, beams and a small fire. As it's an old building, there are a number of small alcoves, which can give privacy. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. Food is of average quality. There's a large rear garden, which is helpful if you have children. It's a very relaxing place for a drink on a summer's evening, and inside it's very cozy in the winter. The car park is large and never full.

The Luzborough was one of several local pubs I considered using for a wake following a funeral, I needed somewhere that had a large enough car park to accommodate all those attending. From the first time I spoke with Emma I felt confident they could deliver what I needed. They catered for 75 people, the food was plentiful, hot and delicious and it went really smoothly. It was nice not to have to worry about anything after the funeral service. Thank you Emma and Tom, I really appreciated everything you both did.

Good reasonable price food and good service

Great place with excellent customer service. We went on a Sunday afternoon, completely ignored for about 10-15 min. When we went to the bar to order because the little one kept complaining that she is hungry, the bartender (the only member of staff visible in the location) kept ignoring my wife. I’ve got to make a trip to the bar just to be told that we are not welcome and will not be served because we have no booking. Disgusting attitude! I can’t rate the food as we were not even allowed to have some crisps.

Shocking! Even the staff said she wouldn’t eat here. Apparently garlic ciabatta isn’t supposed to be toasted?!

Met a friend here for lunch 17 Jan 24 to discover their under new management. Well this turned out to be a very positive change, as had been disappointed with them over the last few years, after being a regular customer for ages. Coincidentally the new owner Aaron was visiting that day, and greeted us on arrival, delightful man. The whole place had a different good feel about it, and the new staff were friendly and attentive, particularly the charming young girl Louisa who served our lunch, nothing was too much trouble, she was such a lovely, natural girl, who clearly loved her job, and that shone through with her attitude and excellent service. The food was good, hot and met expectations. Will definitely be back as a regular customer know.

This year we thought we would have Christmas dinner out, sadly not our best idea for 2023. We were put in the conservatory, bit chilly and very noisy in there, Dinner was served, 4 small roast potatoes, soft ! 1 small thin piece of carrot, 1 small piece of parsnip, unlikely by me, 4 sprouts, 3 slices of turkey, peas and gravy, then the Christmas pudding was served , the pudding was ok but I think it had alcohol in as it had the after taste.......well not what I would call a Christmas dinner for the price, yes the staff had to be paid for Christmas, but the Christmas dinner well below par.

Had a lovely pre-Christmas meal here with some extended family. We were a large party of 18 and there were some latecomers, this was accommodated and handled very well and professionally. The food was lovely, nothing particularly fancy, but tasty and there was something for everyone. Good value for money.

Visited the Luzborough for Christmas day lunch 5 adults and 2 Grandchildren. The whole experience was absolutely super. The staff were all excellent and the food was just amazing.. Thank you the The Luz for a fantastic Xmas day and for our grandchildrens Xmas presents.

Faultless food, impeccable service, a well deserved 5* review

Food was awfull my husband had steak very small portion and7 chips,I had scampi had about 6 was dry and hard very small portion chips ,mushy peas ok, no tartare sauce ,poor waitress looked worn out when I asked for tartare sauce felt really sorry for her,our friends had roast beef looked like stiff leather ,never going there again bar was wet through with spilt drink ,

Arriving to an empty restaurant, we were initially surprised by the lack of any staff. We waited an inordinate amount of time before a member of staff happened to come to the bar. By the time we were acknowledged, other customers practically bolted to their feet, having waited even longer. We were informed that table numbers were not in use, and we were expected to simply identify where we were sat. However, this proved to be flawed, as every time an order was placed, the waiter seemed to struggle to match the food with the corresponding table. This resulted in multiple instances of the waiter approaching each table to ask if the food was theirs. The food was optimal, but I was surprised by how few chips and onion rings came with the burgers. Dessert was disappointing. Having been told that one order of brownie could not have the ice cream substituted for cream. And a brownie sundae being provided with a spoon that could not reach half way down the glass. The ice cream itself was freezer burnt and unpleasant.

Shocking!! Arrived for our booking. Yes the bar was full of a football team, weren't too worried about that. We waited and waited at the 'Wait here to be seated' sign, nobody arrived. I went looking for a member of staff through the restaurant and conservatory, I could not find one single staff member. The barman was rushed off his feet serving a football team drinks, so he was not an option. The tables had not been cleared from previous diners, napkins, colouring sheets etc over the floor and tables. Only 3 separate families dining. Went back to the 'Wait sign'. Then a footballer announced that someone had been sick in the corridor, it was everywhere, a mop and bucket but nobody there clearing it up. It was like a ghost town. After 15mins of waiting and knowing sick was there not we left! Will definitely not be returning.

A good service, food was warm and adaquate.

Was having a couple of drinks and dinner with my family all going well. Then to my disgust, which I believe to be a waste pipe from the ceiling squirted and covered myself from head to toe. It absolutely stunk of urine. Not only did it go over me, but went onto my pregnant sister. I asked the young waiter is this from the toilet and he shrugged his shoulders and said “probably ” then just walked off. The young girl at the bar tried to help out to the best of her ability and gave my brother a refund on the food. We asked for the manager to come down but he/she didn’t! They didn’t even clean the table down! I had to leave at this point as was covered again in which we believe to be urine. Over people in the pub were disgusted by this. When I left the assistant manager turned up and was apologetic to my family and said he will look into this further with head office. It’s been 3 days since this happened and we have not heard anything back from yourselves! Absolutely disgusted how a pub/restaurant can just carry on like nothing happened. Will never be returning to your establishment!

Had a lovely Christmas dinner with some friends, Dave had the turkey which was nice, the rest of us had beef slow cooked which was amazing, even Karen likes it and we'll her names Karen so that speaks for itself. Decor a bit tatty in places but overall a lovely pub. Thank you

Lovely old building. Food Below par & expensive for what it was. Good Beer (IPA) but no 6X on :( Service : Polite but clearly not coping & slow. One starter was cold (Ravioli) One main arrived 20minutes before everybody else & was consumed by the time the rest of our party got theirs. Mean on the fries with "The Indulgent Burger" - which was just a burger really. Disappointing overall.

We had a fantastic time, 15 of us. Family meeting up before Xmas. One waitress did a fantastic job serving all of us.

Great cod and chips served with a smile.

Went on 31st October. When we arrived you could see plenty of empty tables, but there was a queue of people waiting to be seated who were just being ignored by the staff. People who arrived after us got fed up waiting and left. Eventually, with no apologes for the wait, we were then given a table in the cold dimly lit conservatory. Our parents, in their 80's and 90's kept their coats on just to keep warm. If you are going to use this area, at least make it warm and inviting! The service was very poor and the food mediocre. We have eaten at many Greene King pubs, this is by far the worst. We will not be returning.

We used to go to the Luzborough many times in the past as it was the place to go. Then the management changed and it went down hill,we stopped going. The management then changed again but we heard nothing to recomend it, after a while...

We called in for a Monday lunch, without booking, and were quickly welcomed to a table. The Luzborough is quite a large and rambling building, a mix of old and new, with lots of different "rooms" so you don't feel crowded, and it is not as noisy as a huge open-plan pub. The car park is big too. Our drinks soon arrived and so did our food. I had chicken in a basket which was piping hot, with crispy chicken, tasty chips, gravy (not in a basket!) and a decent salad, not just a garnish. My husband had the Salmon Fishcake Florentine which he enjoyed and said was a bit different from the usual menu items. He had some garlic bread too which was fragrant and not rubbery to chew. Michelle was very attentive. We treated ourselves to a dessert too. He had the strawberry cheesecake which got the vote of approval, and I had Eton Mess sundae which was very nice, and not as many calories as some of the desserts..... We have been here a few times before and will definitely return.

Just walked into the pub. Been here a few times in the past. Stood and waited to be seated but were walked past. Decided to sit down ourselves (the pub was quiet) and no menus to even look at. Sat down and still no help from staff so walked out. Off to our usual friendly local 😊

Due to major road traffic hold ups we popped in on the off chance. Despite staff stuck in the holdups ans being busier than usual we received great service and good food.

There was no choice for vegetarians only 1 thing on the menu, chicken was greasy, poor service, our waiter didn't know what she was doing and there was order mistakes. We will never come again to our local pub. Real shame because it's a beautiful building, before it became a Green King it was a lovely pub, I used to go every month. It has massively deteriorated in every respect. Avoid this place, eat anywhere else.

We came here yesterday for my mum's birthday the service was so friendly and the waiter was very understanding on how I wanted my bacon cooked as I like it really crispy. We had a very lacklustre roast on the Sunday. We were informed desserts weren't available only once we'd tried to order them. To top it off, a soda & lime cost £3.25 which might well be the most expensive in Europe.
