Have visited this pub many times but on the last visit did not feel the food was value for money. One and a half slices of beef in the Sunday roast and a small slice of bread and butter pudding that was nowhere near the quality of quantity have experienced in other pubs. It is a lovely pub with very friendly staff and in a great location but prices too high for what you get.

I booked a large table for 10 plus 3 children for a birthday celebration and the team at the Hawkley looked after us beautifully. We were sent a pre order menu which a variety of choices, everything sounded very tasty! The Hawkley burger was a popular choice and I tried the cod with mussels which was wonderful! One of the guests was on a diet and they helped to sort a delicious meal suitable for her without much trouble. The table was laid up and ready to go near the fireplace and it looked so lovely. The garden was under construction so we’re looking forward to using that next time. We were able to enjoy the patio with the children for a little while to get some fresh air. The team were so friendly and accommodating and I couldn’t have been more grateful to them for making it such a special time for us all.

We have been visiting The Sun Inn for a couple of years now, there is usually 8 or 10 of us, for Sunday lunch. I cannot prise them enough, the staff are so efficient & friendly, the food is delicious and the cosy traditional pub atmosphere is very rarely found these days. Each time we go, we make sure to book our next visit so as to not miss out. I hope this place is here for many years to come.

We got there at 10:55 so we could have items from the breakfast menu, they come back to take are order at 11:02. We ordered as we planned from the breakfast menu to be told we were too late and the breakfast had finished at 11:00. If that’s the case take your clients orders when they arrive not wait until it’s too late for them to order the food they came for.

Booked a table online, taking a chance on a place to eat we had not eaten before. My wife and I were with another couple and had the following from the menu: Starters; 2x Ham Hock & Cheddar Croquette, Mustard Mayo. 1x Cajun Tiger Prawns, Asian Sauce, Mixed Leaves. 1x Nachos – Sour Cream, Guacamole, Salsa. Mains; 2x Slow Cooked Rack of Ribs, House Made Barbeque Sauce, Fries, Coleslaw (1x half & 1x full) 1x Quesadilla, Toasted Tortilla Wrap with Melted Cheddar, Onion and Peppers, with added Cajun Chicken 1x Cooked Venison Haunch Steak, Chive Mash, Seasonal Vegetables, Port Reduction, Berry Jus. The food was outstanding, all of our food pierced at the table hot and freshly cooked, flavour of all the dishes was fantastic. I had the venison dish and it was exquisite. Staff were very friendly and helpful, with table service and a good knowledge of the menu. We would all definitely return to this pub/restaurant. Food and drinks were reasonably priced.

First visit to this pub in Finchdean. Certainly won't be our last. Had Sunday roast and it was delicious. Party had both pork, beef and chicken and it was equally good. Lovely pub with great garden room in the spring sunshine. Friendly and attentive staff. Hope to be back soon.
