Lovely service from our waitress Sam while celebrating a 93rd birthday. Good food and pleasant atmosphere. We will certainly return!

We were slightly delayed getting there and were told that we'd need to hurry because our table was booked out after us. We rushed and got there 15 minutes late. We ordered mocktails and were told that most of the drinks we chose were not available because they didn't have the ingredients! We ordered food and then waited for our food...and waited...and still waited. Just before we were going to walk out the food eventually got to us about an hour later, a bit cold and very mediocre. We took our time eating and chose a sweet. Our table wasn't booked after us, we were not asked to leave, there were a lot of tables free when we eventually left. So we rushed for no reason. The waitress was lovely...it wasn't her fault but something in the management has made this a venue we will never be customers of again.

A stunning looking restaurant adjacent to the Premier inn that has free parking for both diners & hotel guests alike.The staff are very professional & the food & wine menus are varied & reasonably priced, I chose their new wrapped chicken stuffed with mozzarella dish with a glass of Chardonnay, plus a triple chocolate Brownie with ice cream for dessert, I did find the portion sizes smaller than other table table restaurants I have dined at & the chicken quite dry as there was no filling in the middle, but everything was full of flavour & I felt very comfortable being by myself which is VERY rare for me, I look forward to returning.

Popped out for a quick bite to eat this evening and firstly I had the really tasty chicken and chorizo pie and secondly we had really lovely service from Tracey. She made sure we had everything we needed, we didn’t wait too long for anything. Plates were cleared straight away and she was really friendly. She went above and beyond to interact with our girls and she made our evening a really pleasant one

Vitisted at 8pm and ordered 2 starters 2 main and 2 deserts. Starter prawn cocktail could have had amore prawns and as for the chicken,egg fries etc BE WARY OF THE SIDE GARNISH. It all depends on if the chef takes notice of the order and description of meal on menu. NO SIDE as described !!. Mrs mash seemed as it had just been dolloped/slapped on the side (not the best) and smallest amount of gravy supplied. Best pro i can say is the desert aasamazing. We were considering about booking up for xmas day HOWEVER will be considering other options

Wow I can not recommend this restaurant enough, the food was great it was delicious and hot but our waiter Matthew was absolutely fantastic, there were 27 of us with just Matthew as our waiter he was so funny, quick to help, very attentive and very lovely,polite and not one mistake was made which was amazing considering the amount of us and all the orders etc, we also had Becka who was also very lovely,polite,very attentive quick to help they were just amazing especially Matthew I can't recommend this restaurant or our waiting staff enough......fantastic

Service very good, food at best indifferent, at worst awful. My (tasteless) lasagne was served with a blackened and solid weapons-grade flatbread - this was replaced quickly and without question, but it should never have escaped from the kitchen. Despite the discounts offered to local residents I won't be eating there again.

Just been for dinner with four grandsons.. very hectic but Matthew or waiter was the perfect waiter... he got all the different requests delivered perfectly and with a smile.. he couldn’t have been more helpful.

This is our favourite post-holiday spot. Above average pub grub cooked to perfection with a good selection on the menu. Cheerful, friendly staff, prompt service but not rushed.

Came here as this is adjacent to Premier Inn where we stayed overnight.It’s a little bit dark inside, when I asked Manager about Gluten Free options he had difficulty in reading booklet regarding allergies.Food is cooked to order, and you can have as much as you want.Full English £9.50 and Continental £7.50.I had yogurt to start along with dried fruit, apple juice, 2 poached eggs, 2 bacon, 2 hash browns and mushrooms along with 2 slices GF toast. All washed down with 2 mugs of tea, so great value.Staff were extremely helpful and attentive.Food was very tasty.

Our third visit in 2 weeks and our last. Invited to have a buy one get one free. Meal inedible, drinks slow to arrive, give it a miss, better eateries close by.

I was pleasantly surprised at this beautiful old world Inn. The inside layout is delightful and meets the needs of a cosy table for two or as in our case seven young lads and two adults.Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was good, our waitress very helpful.A place I would want to return to for a table for two!!

We ate here this evening as a family of 4 and I have to say it was one of the easiest eating out experiences we have had. Drinks order taken as we were seated and it was quickly brought to us by Matthew. Matthew was really friendly and chatty with the kids while they were ordering, had time to listen to the tales of their day and included them in the experience. He was attentive but not pushy or invasive just what you want really

Our server, Connor, was fantastic. So helpful and patient while we were making our menu choices with lots of friendly advice. We were also served by Matthew who was chatty and friendly.To be honest, the food was average but the staff made up for it.It is also a beautiful pub.

The bar service on arrival at the pub was slow and unfriendly. Once seated, had to wait some time for the waiter to arrive and order to be taken, and then the drinks took a further 15 minutes to arrive. My beef and stout pie was cold and I complained. It was replaced shortly afterwards with a warm one but the meal tasted as if it had been re heated. The meals were very tasteless generally with the exception of my daughter's rump steak was very nice, which is why this review is 2 stars not 1. I would not recommend this establishment. For the price we paid the food and service was awful. The worst pub dining experience I can remember. Any Wetherspoons I have been to is far superior to The Red Lion.

We have visited Table Table for many years and have always had great service. We visited on the 9th Aug was served by Matthew who was very attentive and efficient and the food was of a good standard as normal.This is a restaurant that you can rely on for an enjoyable meal.

Great food and service last night as always from our waiter Mathew, steak was done as we asked for and didn't have a long wait for food

Went for this as I was pretty hungry after a day's work, overcooked batter, scampi went missing inside the batter balls, sausage was one of the cheapest I'd ever tasted, fish was just bigger than a fish finger and the mushy peas in batter were dry and tasteless, no salt in the pot, ketchup in little sachets, just not a nice experience. My partner had lemon and thyme chicken that she said was ok, don't think we'll be rushing back.

We picked up family and headed here for lunch, we arrived at the pub a little early for the food (11.30).This was told to us by a miserable member of staff.They where sitting there having cooked breakfast and it felt like we had invaded there home, not a pub.We was served drinks with the same wonderful ignorance!We retreated to the sanctuary of the beer garden.We order our food once midday struck and again it felt like we was a problem, a burden to there day!The food was served like the attitude of the staff, sloppy!Pretty bland and boring, wouldn’t recommend at all.

We were staying at the Premier Inn so choose to ate here as next door, we were given a table opposite the ladies toilet which seemed to be in a corridor so not a great start. The food was ok but nothing special, service could have been better as well as there was quite a gap between ordering and courses. I would look at other options before coming back here.

Have been here on several occasions over the years as it’s only a mile or so from us, and we’ve had good meals and we’ve had some pretty bad meals too, but it’s great for a quick dinner which this was. Have to mention Matthew! Cheeky chappie but great server, and the meal this time was great. With a 40% off main meals discount voucher, it was very reasonably priced too. Will obviously return as it’s so local and as long as we’ve got these vouchers it will certainly be good value.

Came here for a birthday meal, 6 adults and 2 children. Food was great but what made it for me was the service. Our waiter, Daniel, was superb. Attentive, polite and very funny. Some of the best customer service I have encountered.

Stayed here with a colleague this week & wasn’t impressed. The evening meal wasn’t the best & the portion sizes tiny. Stayed in the premier inn next door, with which I had no issue, & had the misfortune to have breakfast here too. Ordered porridge which was like cardboard & loaded with sugar. The fruit selection was limited to a few chopped apples & some mixed candied affair. A shame because I stay out a lot & always rated table table, but I have to say they are all going the same way putting profit over quality. The staff were great but they can only work with what they are given.

The menu I was given didn't show all the food listed on the website (I'd wanted a jacket potato) so I substituted chicken forestier which was OK but not quite as good as when cooked in France, where I live.

Visited last Sunday. 11 of us for lunch. All had roast. Really good. Got extra roast potatoes. Two jugs of gravey! We are a gravy loving family. All the food was hot and tasty. The service was excellent. Young very tall man couldn't do enough for us. Great experience.

Our large party of 9 were staying the night at the adjacent Premier Inn and were having breakfast through the tie-up arrangement with the hotel. We were allocated a separate area so we could keep together and not bother others. It differs from normal Premier arrangements in that the buildings are separate and also that although the cereals, juices and so on are help-yourself, the hot food had to be ordered. This slowed the process down and meant, of course, that you couldn't see what you were getting, or of course help yourself. The toast are was also set apart in a very cramped area that could really only accommodate two people, so that is a recipe for frustration and disorder. Te food was good and the service couldn't be faulted, but the logistics let it down from the normal Premier Inn experience.

Very accomodating staff, regularly served by Matthew, who always goes above and beyond...extra gravy , apple sauce etc.

Eat as much as you like for £9.50!Has great coffee which is always a bonus You can order what you like and how much you want, only worth the money if you plan on going hardcore! Very tasty food, nicely cooked, and better then another pub chain beginning with W! Good service

We have just had our wonderful Sunday lunch here. We love it so much we come almost weekly from our home 30 miles away. The food is good but it's the staff that makes it special. A big shout out especially to Matthew, Emily and Sam who always make our trip worthwhile.

Stayed at the Premier Inn for 2 nights so ate here for convenience. First night was a Sunday and very very quiet. But we had to wait quite a while to order and even longer for the food and asked for the bill twice. Second night different staff on duty and couldn't fault them. Friendly and efficient. No complaints with the food. Fish & chips fab - largest piece of fish ever seen! Breakfast was good and nice to see proper fresh fruit salad.

When we arrived we had to wait as poor girl was on her own. Instead of being shown to the table was directed. Went to get toast and cereal, took a while for girl to take our order. When it came it looked ok apart from my poached it looked like it had been ill. Apart from that it was good and would return

Went there for a bit of a family celebration Sunday as three of us had birthdays in the same week. The waiter who served was attentive and polite - really nice. What was disappointing was the food. Three of the meals were actually good, but the other two shouldn't have been served. For a change I ordered the Tandoori Burger and this was a bone dry piece of chicken in a bone dry bread roll. If there was any flavor on it, it had been expertly removed in the drying process. I should have complained, but no doubt that would have meant waiting while the others ate and it and it was only on tucking in I realised how bad the meal was. The good meals were the fish and chips, which 3 others in our party had and they said was spot on. Its a shame that this restaurant allows poor food to be served .

Dropped on for a late Sunday lunch. A la carte menu is typical English fare with the odd curry available. Not very flexible on swapping options and sides are pricey! Slow service.

Ideal for staying at the nearby Premier Inn. They have a great breakfast. There is plenty of room and a nice little outdoor seating area. When I visited in the evening they only had one of three real ales on and that showed signs of being poorly looked after. Evening meal is apparently very good but we didn't try it.

I travel around the UK all week with my work. I stay in different hotels and east in a different restaurant each evening. We ate at the Red Lion tonight and were served by Matthew. What a credit to Table Table Matthew is. The meal was awesome and the service exceptional. So thank you. See you soon.

We go here a lot but not any more. I’ve been a vegetarian for over 30years and last week asked why the garlic mushrooms weren’t marked as vegetarian to be told it’s because they came with a bbq sauce so I asked not to have the sauce. Then I had the battered hallumi and chips which was ok. Went there again today and just happened to ask the waitress,when she eventually came to take our order,35minutes after sitting down,can I have the mushrooms without sauce as it’s not suitable for vegetarians to be told nothing battered is suitable as cooked in the same fat as the sausages,burgers and other fried meats. I was shocked after being told last week it was the sauces. So I had been eating food no suitable. I wasn’t happy. The waitress said I cud have it grilled instead so that what I opted for. When the food eventually came it wasn’t great. My friend had the fish platter,it was so over cooked the battered was hard and everything was over cooked. My hallunmi was cold and rubbery and the coleslaw was disgusting. I used to love coming here but today changed my mind. The service wasn’t great and the food was tasteless and overcooked. Wouldn’t go back again.

Stayed at the Premier Inn on site and had breakfast and evening meal at The Red Lion, both excellent range, quality and reasonably priced, all staff very pleasant, professional and welcoming, thank you to Mathew on the dinner service.

We came for lunch and the service we received was friendly and attentive. The waitress we had Tracy was amazing!! I couldn't fault her. I would definitely recommend.

I booked a table at the Red Lion at Horndean for a early Mother’s Day meal for my Mum. I asked if we could be seated in a quiet area of the restaurant and we had a lovely area to eat in together. Our waiter was named Matthew, he was extremely friendly and so pleasant to us all,nothing was to much trouble at all. We all enjoyed our meals,deserts and drinks during our visit and would definitely recommend the Red Lion to anyone looking for a lovely and reasonably priced meal. As a waiter Matthew deserves 10⭐️++ and hopefully he will be our waiter again on our next visit. Thankyou Julie

We came here for my Mums birthday a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't busy but having been here before, I always get the feeling they run the staff to the bare minimum, with many doing multiple tasks. There were 8 of us and 7 of our meals were luke warm. Even my 5 year old nephew told his Mum he didn't want his food because it was cold. Fair enough they did offer to replace all the meals but I really don't think the waitress was experienced enough to handle the situation. Her response was OK so what do you want me to do then? Meals that are hot I replied. I asked her to feel the temparature of the chips and peas which were especially cold. But she refused but weirdly she then asked if we wanted to keep the steaks that were on our plates. I said no because they will be cold when the rest arrives. Ok she was young and the only waitress I could see. And we did get hot meals fairly quickly afterwards. The Manager gave us £10 off our meals which was fine also. Would have been nice if the Manager had come over to apologise himself. Maybe I'm weird but if I had been making a meal for 7 of my friends and they all said it was cold I would have been devastated and then checked the food temperature for myself.

Fantastic service from Matthew yesterday who was so patient with our table of 18 celebrating my daughters birthday. Some were held up due to some nasty traffic and matthew was fantastic. Matthew was very good and let us have the table for longer than usual due to some of our group being delayed because of traffic. We spent several hours here and were looked after all the while. The food was excellent and we were very happy.

3 of us fancied a breakfast this morning and as we are local the Red Lion and haven’t been for a while we decided to give it ago. A lovely selection of breakfast foods to pick from and juices, coffees, teas etc. Toast, croissants , muffins also available which was good. There’s 2 types of breakfasts available, 1 is continental and the other is Full breakfast with the hot food. We all had a full breakfast which came to 28.50. The food was delicious and well cooked, nice and hot which is exactly what we wanted. You decide how many eggs, bacon, sausage etc you are after so go mad on that. The sausages and black pudding are yummy. Very clean restaurant and the staff were very attentive. Thank you to Sam for looking after us and making are visit perfect. See you again soon for sure guys

We stayed at a local hotel and the breakfast was here.Very disappointing breakfast. Regretted paying for it already. Photo's were beter.Coffee was weak. Food was very poor.Diner and deserts are also guite poor.My family live in Horndean but I will not come back here again

We went here today (Saturday 1pm) with our 2 children. They both had main meals. It stated on the Menu sheet that between Mon-Sat before 5pm the Children's main meals are £1.99 eachThe food was really nice, but when the bill arrived they charged us £3.99 each for the meals. We also only asked for 1 extra portion of chips, but 2 portion of chips arrived and we were charged for 2 portions. This isn't the first time that the Red Lion have done this. They made us feel really awful when we questioned the bill, as if it was our fault. Thats why I stayed quiet a submitted this review. I still have the receipt as proof. It wasn't the price it was the principle. If they have special promotions then please make sure they stick to them. Information has been sent to Hampshire Trading Standards.

We come to the Red Lion quite regularly with our two young children as we live nearby. We’re very lucky to have it so close because it’s one of the best pub/restaurants in the area. The service is great, despite the carnage that we leave after a meal with a 6 and 3 year old!The breakfast is also amazing. Best in the area and you can pick what you want for a set price. Matthew was our waiter yesterday - thank you!

Went for breakfast with friends. Was ok but there are limited options if you have a small appetite. You either have to choose the non cooked continental option or the cooked option which is heavily based towards meat eaters. Given that I have a small appetite and prefer a low meat diet, I do not feel that I had value for money.
