Harvester in East Hampshire

All good, but vacuuming the restaurant while we were still eating was unacceptable. And this wasn't to clear up a spill, it was their end of day clear up. Not good

Random night out with my daughter in law,was a last minute booking got seated at a lovely table was nice and warm, served drinks very quickly by a lovely lad called Alfie he didn’t rush us with food order when we was chatting away just gave us 5 minutes and came back, food was delivered on time and was lovely my steak was cooked perfectly Alfie was a great server very polite friendly helpful a real credit to you thanks for a great evening xx

Been here often as usually enjoy it but bit disappointing this time. Staff tried to seat 7 of us at a table with 5 chairs until I complained, and yet I had pre booked a week ago. Took us 20 minutes to get any menus, there wasn't enough cutlery so we had to find our own and the salad bar needed restocking as lots of empty spaces. The rotisserie chicken was really good, would recommend it, though same cannot be said for the apple pie

I came here with my family, a party of 9, and our server Emily C was absolutely lovely, helping us with everything, joking with us and making us feel welcome in the restaurant. food was absolutely brilliant and came out so fast despite it being busy. Emily C was so hard working and made the experience even better, definitely recommend:))

Kathy was a great host for my whole family on a Sunday breakfast, quick with the drinks and had all the information for the menu! Came for my daughter’s birthday and she even sorted the cake and candles… 10/10!

Excellent and friendly service and value for money food

I love the food here, the meals are good quality and my kids love the salad bowl, it makes it a lot easier to eat out with kids! I was disappointed with the £1 offer, it's not what you think it is. Having a £5.99 menu for kids (not being able to get just a main) I assumed it was this that was £1. But I was informed by the lady on arrival that it didn't include the pudding, and that we'd pay £2 for that. So basically you only save £2.99. I am on a budget and never eat out but went due to this deal. Luckily I managed to persuade my daughter to not have a pudding. I just think it's misleading

Unfortunately it’s not nice place to either eat or grab a drink with friends.

Good morning my wife and I popped into Harvester Rolands Staunton Arms, our waitress Lucky was friendly and helpful no problem, our main meal was not so cheerful as the waitress. we ordered a so called chicken stack the first appearance looked like hot fat had been poured over it, after cutting into the stack and corn bread the proof of the eating was far too greasy for us, sadly it reminded us of a greasy spoon Cafe. Sadly no more dining at this lovely old restaurant.

Great service. Overall a very pleasant establishment. Well done to all staff.

How expensive is it here only had a main drink and the smallest ice cream sundae 27 quid. I didn't realise harvesters were that expensive these days

Lovely pleasant atmosphere, lovely management and staff

Arrived at 17.00 as we booked a table ahead of time, wasn't shown to our table until 17.15 as no host present on arrival. Restaurant very messy lots of tables not cleared. Our waitress was lovely full of apologies. No chicken breast, gammon or rotisserie chicken available. Genuinely felt sorry for the front of house staff as you could see they were stretching themselves very thin. Food was OK but fairly cold and ribs were very small (not much meat) Overall staff pretty decent but management seriously need to hire more.

Unfortunately had a horrible experience here today food was served cold. Tomato had a horrible sour taste onion rings uneditable went to have some coleslaw from salad bar absolutely disgusting gray looking 🤢 and got given dirty salad bowls

Salad bar was exceptional, unfortunately the meals were not so. Burger bread doughy, and burger meat dry. Steaks tough. Veg sticks dry and wilted. Jacket potatoes old and dry and hard. Very dissappointing. Have never had this kind of experience from a Harvester before.

Great quick dinner with the kids

A really nice harvester, we've been coming here for years. We were given a lovely big booth for five of us. We all ordered different things off the menu, it all arrived freshly cooked and piping hot at the same time. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we couldn't fault the service we received there.

My kids loved and enjoyed their food so much they had all of it, the service was great too. Emily C. was our waitress, she was lovely and very friendly with kids! Would definitely come back again, thanks!

Our waiter Josh C and waitress Emily C were an absolute delight, they were very friendly, courteous and helpful, they addressed food allergies and preferences ensuring a wonderful trip to the restaurant, they quickly got us to a seat and reminded me about putting my vrn into the computer for parking. The food was fresh, tasty and cooked well. The table was clean, and comfortable. The manager came out to support them while they dealt with difficult customers to our side which was lovely to see staff supported by management. The price was reasonable too. Always a delight and happy to return.

We found it rather dark. The food was good, and our waitress was attentive, but there was very little atmosphere, and it was all a little hurried. It was also quite expensive

It's good to get there early as the service is a lot quicker than usual. Food was tasty and the fruit was very fresh.

Not very busy on a Monday evening so understandable that the salad cart was running low on certain popular choices. We turned up late for our 18:30 booking but were happily accommodated and the lack of the salad cart options were absolutely made up for by excellent service from Lucy and a good standard of food as expected from The Harvester chef team. Thanks for an enjoyable evening spent at your restaurant!

Excellent service to us with wheelchair access. Ribbs was unacceptable and changed for chicken at no charge. Enjoyed the rest of the meal.

Go regularly on the weekend for a while now, great experiences, Josh C & Esme were serving us the last few visits

The food wasn't great at all! Salad bar practically empty and what was left looked less than appetising. Starter sent back, mushrooms cold and watery! Waited over an hour for our mains, rotisserie chicken nice but felt like it had been sitting waiting to be served a while! Sasha our waitress was nice and helpful, shame about the food, really poor!

Callum was really kind and looked after us well. The food was nice and the atmosphere we also had a voucher which made it even better

Dreadful, salad bar was virtually empty. My grandsons burger came out in a burnt black bun had to send it back. My gammon was tasteless and tough, the onion rings undercooked and squirted out fat when tried, peas were washed out and everything tasteless. Other Harversters are much better so will avoid this one totally.

Waited 45 minutes for drinks from ordering them. Garlic bread was unappetising to look at and wasn’t touched by the diners. Cheese plopped on top was congealed. No tartar sauce for the haddock & chips.

Food & drinks here are good, staff are great but avoid staying at the Travelodge Havant Rowlands Castle behind this Harvester, you'll be very disappointed. The Harvester drinks were great, service was really good. Food was really good too except one incident where a side offering of baked potato was presented with a black & off potato, which the kitchen could clearly see when they put it on the plate. It was end of service for lunch & I think they didn't care anymore. Thankfully the waiter organised an alternative side dish for me, before the kitchen staff packed up. Despite this, I really really liked the food & ate here several times.

Great food and service from Kathy. The choice was good, the food was lovely and arrived promptly. Really added to our stay in Portsmouth. We had dinner the night before and again, good service and more interesting menu than us often found. We can definitely recommend the skewers- and the waffles!

Fantastic location, amazing service and mind blowing food. went as a group of 4, we all had different meals and all were cooked to perfection.. whilst the restaurant was packed. Free refills on drinks, unlimited visits to the salad bar, good music.. just such a resounding success of a restaurant. Normally i dont agree to tips, but everyone in our group including myself were more than happy to contribute to tipping for the really enjoyable experience provided. 10/10 5*s

OK in all respects but all very average , the food we had wasn't hot and took a while to be served , the unlimited salad bar offering wasn't good most of the options were empty , possibly not helped by some very greedy diners who appeared to scoop up everything going , however, the dishes were not replenished during our stay. Ok for a quick meal but wouldn't choose for a couple quiet night out.

Went on a busy night over the bank holiday weekend for the first time and I have to say I was really impressed! Despites massive crowds, the food was great and salad bar restocked. Jenn (the shift supervisor) really worked so hard amongst the other staff to feed the hugely busy restuarant. A++ to all!

Maybe the management of this Harvester needs to look at the decor. Sadly it's looking a bit 'down at the heel'. Peeling paint, dirty carpets, toilet area needs a good bleach or certainly the flooring needs changing.

Visited about a week ago as part of a large party of 10 or 12 for a surprise birthday party. Not been here for at least 40 years - it has changed a little and much better than the old, boring place it was in the 70s even if it is now a chain restaurant. Staff very tolerent of our staggered arrival and served the food quickly. Comprehensive menu that should appeal to most tastes and food arrived warm. Prices are quite reasonable as well. Even on a mid week day, it was comfortably busy, but not crowded. Just 2 negatives: First the description of "Portsmouth" in the name of the place is a bit flexible as it is about 15 miles from the edge of Portsmouth. And second - be **Extremely** careful if arriving by car. The car park is in a terrible state with huge and deep pot holes that will brake suspension at anything above about 1 mph. Really needs to be sorted without delay.

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Burger with sweet potato fries. All cooked perfectly. Really excellent service from the guy who looked after our table. Didn't even hassle us to drink up. I wish I could have left a bigger tip.

Superb place in a lovely village had a great meal

Starters ok but battered mushrooms mediocre and oily; burgers good but chips cold & mushy - but replaced with fresh ones. Very friendly & helpful service. My children enjoyed the desserts! Be careful of very large pot holes in the car park.

Nice place to come some.of the staff are friendly some don't really want to speak and then the food came out look nice but wasn't cooked properly. Staff didn't want to do anything or offer to sort it

Overall we had a fairly good experience. Callum was very attentive & polite. However, the glasses had finger marks on, the table appeared clean, but felt a bit sticky. It didn't appear to be overly busy, but there were quite a number of tables that needed clearing & cleaning.

Quite a nice pub with a huge selection of meals on the menu and the food was delicious. The decor of the ladies 🚺 loo could do with refreshing and the car park is full of potholes.
