The best restaurants serving British food in Chichester North Chichester South East

When foreigners complain about English food, I always feel their comments are slightly misaligned with how much english food and service have improved the last 20 years, until you eat in a place like this. Coffee good, pizza sad and sandwiches straight from the 1980s and bloody expensive! If it wasn't located next to a beautiful park, it would close in a month.

Absolutamente excepcional. Honestamente puedo decir que no podría fallar la comida de todos modos, Llevo esperando para comer aquí bastante tiempo y siempre ha reservado pero se las arregló para entrar. Si lo hubiera hecho, criticaría que esperáramos más de 40 minutos para que llegara nuestra comida, por mucho que sé que no es comida rápida, creo que fue un poco largo esperar. Volveré enseguida.

Visited here for afternoon tea. Welcome was ok, but then we waited for a while to see if there was a free table. Bizarrely no one else was in the cafe and the upstairs service where we were seated was almost unfriendly and you felt you were in the way. When we asked for a spoon for our tea we were greeted with a huff and puff… Gets good reviews elsewhere, but sadly not from us..

Best little cafe in Chichester. A little haven of joy. Lovely place food and people.

No había estado aquí por muchos años, pero sin duda volveremos pronto. Tuvimos una noche encantadora con excelente comida de pub real. Porciones muy grandes, no tendrán hambre hoy! Dave y Sarah son tan amables. El mejor pub en el que he estado por años.

5-5-2025. Had lovely breakfast, turned up quick. Well presented and cooked well. Super tasty sausages. Pots of tea. Cafe beautifully decorated, attention to detail in the cafe. Clean cafe and toilets. Friendly chatty staff, welcoming too. No parking outside, but 3 mins walk from cattle market carpark. Would recommend.

We stopped here on the way home, from spending a day visiting attractions in the area. It was the perfect end to a lovely day. The food was excellent, plenty of choice on the menu, the pies were very good. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the pub had a great atmosphere and the same could be felt in the garden. We will definitely be visiting again, next time we visit the area.

Realmente agradable noche, el ambiente es relajado, el restaurante fue elegantemente diseñado, la comida era extremadamente sabrosa y buena relación calidad-precio, el personal era atento, pero no demasiado, en general una noche encantadora

Enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch today - everybody happy in our group of five, especially our vegetarian ('the tastiest meal he had had in ages', unquote). Roasts were generous, hot and with eye appeal. Desserts were especially well presented with fresh fig, star fruit and such as adornments. And the variety of cask ales.... brilliant. Service as always in The Park Tavern was very friendly and efficient. We'll be back again soon.

Faltaba ambiente y nos sentimos como un inconveniente cuando llegamos. Fuimos a tomar el té de la tarde que habíamos reservado con champán, pero nos hicieron muy incómodamente para probar que habíamos reservado el champán después de que el miembro del personal nos dijo groseramente que no habíamos pagado por adelantado. La comida era decepcionante y podíamos escuchar mesas a nuestro alrededor quejándose de la comida también. Una pena, ya que realmente estábamos deseando y fue reservado para una ocasión especial. No se apresurará a regresar.

We entered the pub on a Friday night to a quiet atmosphere. Upon our approach to the bar our group of 3 were discussing what drinks we would buy. 2 out of the 3 in our group decided not to buy anything at this time. The member of staff on the bar then interjected in our conversation, claiming if we weren’t (as individuals) buying a drink, we would have to leave. I attempted to reason: but surely if my brother is buying a drink, it’s fine for us to be here as his company? The Bell Inn employee made her point: in no business are you able to sit without making a purchase. I retorted- a cafe? This was in vain, her condescension broke through our reason. Destitute and demoralised we exited the bar. We promptly took our business to the pub up the road. The Bell Inn is my local, and I will not be drinking there again.

Greeted so politely by staff when I arrived. Again at breakfast staff was polite and helpful making immediate eye contact. Felt welcomed and would stay again. Comfortable and cosy.

Hemos comido aquí muchas veces a lo largo de los años cuando hemos tenido buena comida y mala comida. Esta vez las opciones fueron buenas (aparte de un miembro del grupo que no puede comer lácteos y encontró los entrantes limitantes) y la comida era generalmente buena, aunque podría haber sido más caliente. El servicio fue bueno con el personal siendo atento. Sin embargo, la pastelería choux para el desierto era seca, dura e insípida. Aprecio el reto que supone para todos salir adelante antes de que empiece el teatro, pero algo de comida parecía haber sido preparada y luego dejada. Anteriormente no era una mala relación calidad-precio comprar, sentimos que para la oferta era caro. El principal beneficio es estar en el lugar para un espectáculo.

I have been visiting for the past 28 or so years - lovely quaint tearoom - decor not changed at all but this is the way I like it - lovely private garden - I always have the brown fruit scones which are lovely and their welsh rarebit is really tasty - yes its expensive but worth it - no nasties in the food!
