The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Went for lunch today with for lunch today with family who I have not seen for a long time, ordered the hunters chicken it was disgusting refused to pay won't be going back the chef had a bad attitude

Called in with my Wife. We hadn't booked, but as it was the middle of the afternoon thought it would be okay. There was hardly anyone in when we arrived, so getting a table and ordering was all very quick. We ordered the Sunday roast, which arrived within 15 minutes or so. However, we both had to send our meals back as they were barely luke warm. The plates hadn't been warmed and even the jugs of gravy needed to be reheated. This is all basic stuff. The young man behind the bar, who was also serving the food, was very apologetic when he brought our food back. It was a little better. We live locally and like to support these places, but it is a while since we last visited and we are sad to say that based on this experience we won't be in a hurry to go back, which is a pity, because the pub is in a nice location and has great potential. They just need to get the offer and the basics right. We hope they do.

Came in and asked about the 6 person cocktails and apparently it only has 100ml(4 shots) of alcohol in it and is £26 which is shocking, I do belive he made a mistake but all I could do is take his word for it. After 2 drinks I payed attention to the measurements, not one was a full meassure I didn't confront the barman as too embarrass him. To add insult to injury they turned the tv's off before finishing up time (final round of the masters). So all in a terrible experience, hopefully they will read this and retrain their staff before they get fined.

We have visited this pub on numerous occasions over the years, and generally enjoyed it. However, we visited for lunch (Saturday 23rd) and were really disappointed. Firstly we made the mistake of eating in the bar, very cliquey, the ladies working in the bar were far more concerned with the regulars than myself and my wife, but that is fine, we were there for food nothing else ( they also turned over the television while I was watching the football, but hey ho) Now to the food, I don’t know if this place has changed hands/chef/ suppliers or all three, but the food was terrible, the pate that used to be so tasty was awful, the onion rings, were so greasy and tasteless, the cheese and onion pie was stodgy like damp cement, and the coffee like dishwater. The chips, chutney and sauces were very nice though Did we complain, no we did not, the reason being,the ladies behind the bar were completely dis-interested in us, didn’t ask if we enjoyed our food or wanted any dessert, we finished, paid and left, probably never to return, it is a real shame that this place has fallen so far, it was a real gem, WAS!!

As part of a local Pool team just turned up at 7.30pm with my 11 year old lad who plays for the pool team we sat down the lady behind the bar, shouted the cross bar no kids got to leave. I explained he is part of the Pool team she said he’s got to go she was very rude.

Drinks are very reasonably priced. Food is hit and miss. Tastes good but mainly served luke warm due to sitting under lamps and not served quick enough. Tables were left with dirty glasses on for ages and table cleaning was definitely lacking.

Si estoy con amigos en viaje de fin de semana a Manchester a menudo venimos aquí para un beveragino a la hora del almuerzo o un aperitivo y SIEMPRE tenía buena comida y servicio. Así que las varias críticas negativas son una sorpresa. Tuvimos nuestra comida servida un t un buen tiempo y estaba todo caliente y fresco. Es un viejo bar de personajes por dentro, no soporto los modernos de moda sin ambiente. Volveré en la próxima visita de fin de semana seguro! Saludos al personal.

Absolutely brilliant service, breakfast is plentiful, Molly and Dean make you feel very welcome and they always make time to chat with you no matter how busy they are. We have now made going for breakfast on a Friday a regular thing, looking forward to catching up with Molly.

Stopped serving gluten free beer

Called in for a breakfast, ordered the Large Breakfast, paid extra for the coffees. The food was absolutely first class Delicious sausages, usually the sausages are placed are a let down, cheap ingredients. But not here. Very friendly staff, fast service too. Free refills on the coffees too. Thanks to all staff.

As retired grandparents we regularly go on a Monday morning, we take our 4 grandsons ages 4, 2¾, 2½ and 4 months and the 3 older ones just love their Crumpets, 2 each. We enjoy a peacful brew and chat while the boys sit and eat. The staff are loverly and so accomadating. We also love buying the old fashions sweets. But no Kop Kops!!

I’ve been going to home on and off for 12 years. I found it had gone down hill a couple of years ago so went less. We decided to give it another go recently and were not disappointed. Things have improved dramatically. The portion sizes are better and the quality of food much improved. Well done to the new management x
