A fabulous looking place but its lost its magic ! Been a couple of times in the past but today it was very poor .... The tearoom was cold and uninviting with very depressing music .. Slow service ... Feels like the owners are half hearted and have lost lost interest in the place no attention to detail.. Food below average !

I found breakfast very disappointing. I thought that it would be more like a home cooked meal but despite a longish wait it was like a buffet meal. The tomato sausage tasted poor quality and was small and greasy. Overall I have had much better meals. I was surprised as the afternoon teas are wonderful ,and it would not take much to have an equally good breakfast. I did not feel that this was value for money. It is though a lovely tearoom with a nice atmosphere and good staff. Sorry I am not a fan of the breakfast.

Absolutely delightful tea rooms. Breakfast was delicious. The young waitress who served us was so lovely. Had a constant smile and looks like she enjoys her first (assume first) little job. Extremely clean. Going back again today (went yesterday) with my father in law. Beautiful decor in keeping with the Victorian era.

Very disappointed with my sandwich today , my wife and our friend was ok with what they had but even they thought not worth the money , tried it will not go again is their response , I asked before ordering if their vegetarian sausages were gluten free , "they should be" the waitress replied , but should be is not enough I said that I need to know ,she went into the kitchen to check and on return said they don't know as they have been opened , so I ordered a tuna and mayo sandwich , cost just under £6 but I had to pay an extra £1.50 because I wanted gluten free , so almost £7.50, when the sandwich came it was 2 small slices of gluten free bread with maybe a teaspoon full of tuna and cut on the diagonal, also a very small amount of salad, i would have expected maybe a double sandwich, coleslaw, maybe some crisps, especially for the cost of £7.50, I feel that perhaps they make a killing on new customers but very little on return customers because we would not go back , if you want value for your hard earned money I would suggest you find somewhere else , , I just wished we had checked the reviews , oh I just remembered they did put a few miniature crackers on the plate , pretty useless as I am gluten intolerant. The waitress was very nice so we tipped her but certainly not for my sandwich.

Lovely little coffee shop, but unfortunately the afternoon tea was so expensive for what you actually recieved on the plate. We where charged an extra £5 per person because it was mothers day then a surcharge of £5 making it £70+ for 3 people to have afternoon tea that would have cost no more than £10. Disappointing

We went here for the first time yesterday. It was absolutely freezing!! There was no heating on in February. I asked if there was skimmed milk for a coffee. There was only one choice of milk, full fat! The hot chocolate appeared to be cocoa, granular and dark brown. I could have made the toastie at home. This in our view was not a toastie. The quality of its content was poor and not worth the money. The person, a young woman, who served us was miserable, didn’t smile or even say thanks on being paid. We would not set foot in this place again and wouldn’t recommend it to others.

Worst toastie ever. We ordered a cheese and chutney toastie which is meant to be served with a side salad and coleslaw. We received a burnt toastie, with barely any cheese and supermarket bought chutney. No coleslaw and the salad was presented with bits of crust. Definitely would not recommend, my dog could make a better toastie

Not very impressed with Victoria tea rooms. The cutlery wasn’t clean I had to ask for replacement knifes and forks. The tea cup had stains in, dirty sauce bottle and the salt and pepper pots on the table weren’t clean. No soap in the toilet either! Food was average, tasted a bit bland like cheap food. Orange juice wasn’t of good quality either. Won’t be returning!

The staff are polite and friendly but unfortunately our food wasn't up to standard. I ordered the ploughman's lunch which the menu stated 2 cheese, 2 carved ham, salad, pickles, coleslaw, crisps, and chunky bread, i asked what the type of cheese was and was told Cheddar, Wensleydale or Blue, I said I would like cheddar and Wensleydale as I don't like blue cheese but when it arrived it had blue cheese on so asked the waitress to change it. The ham wasn't carved ham just thinly sliced ham rolled up, salad was ok, pickles and coleslaw ok, crisps were what looked like the leftovers from the bottom of the bag and served in a ramekin the size used for butter, bread wasn't as per menu just pre-sliced and buttered. Husband ordered the honey and mustard chicken ciabatta and a side order of crispy potatoes, the ciabatta was good but the crispy potatoes were oily and overdone. After a long wait for our food it was very disappointing, staff apologised and didn't charge us for our drinks. We won't be going there again!

Decided to try this little tea room for a festive Afternoon tea. £24.50 Two young staff members took our order. The young male was very polite and helpful. The young female however really gave us the impression that she didn't want to be there and was reluctant to answer our questions regarding the choices on the menu, to the point where she rolled her eyes when asked. The afternoon tea was poor value and quality and appeared to be all shop bought, nothing home-baked. With one element being 2 pieces of Frys mint chocolate bar with a lotus biscuit. 🤷♀️ In total our bill came to £108.30 for 4 very dissatisfied customers. As I had already paid a deposit of £20 the new total should have been £88.30. At this point the business owner insisted after using her calculator that I now owed £89.00 as she held her calculator up in a rather abrupt manner, she insisted twice that this was the new total. Only after she had disappeared back of house and then returned did she admit that the calculator had been set to round up and didn't offer any apology .!!. - a very questionable business practice? I feel we have been truly ripped off and I would strongly discourage anyone from visiting. Some lessons in customer service definately needed, not least from the business owner who's couldn't care less attitude was appalling and leaves a lot to be desired.

Came here with friends 8/12/22 when I booked in September for December they said on phone it was £14.50 each for afternoon tea each & needs deposit of £5 each if more than 4people there was 5 of us which was good as that's what they usually cost anywhere else & is usually homemade food !but got there today and it's all shop bought land tiny amounts of food! With tiny cups of ted where you get 2 cups each & 1 glass of sparkling water & had to pay £6 for an extra pot of tea for 2 ppl !! The best part was the bill they came and said we all need to pay £20 each more unless had more tea then it's £23 each and this doesn't include the deposits!! We asked why when they saying it's £14.50 each when booked ? They said oh no not in December it's not did they not tell you this on the phone we said no !! & they demanded we paid the £23 each more! If we would on know it was that each we would never had gone there & definitely will not return! So not worth it at all in fact it's the worst afternoon tea l've ever had! Wish we'd of gone to bents garden now! The photo below is 2 ppl worth for £56!!!! Also you got a mini pot of slaw min crisp pot & mini Salad!! So not worth it was so annoyed when they came to us with the big bill & the place was empty!

Poor food experience. Afternoon tea was tiny and very few sandwiches, Litrally not even a full normal sized sandwich each. The cakes were out of a packet and a cheap one at that. The "trifle" was served in night club style shot glasses and the jelly wasn't even set. Just really not a good "victorian style afternoon tea". Staff were lovely and setting was nice but the rest was disappointing

Had toasted tea cake and loose leaf tea here (June 18, 2021). Inside it has lovely, white tableclothes and good friendly service. However, I suspect that the tea cake had been defrosted in the microwave for too long because it was hard and dry. There was however plenty of butter on it which helped. Tea was really nice, as you would expect from a tea shop, nice cups and a teapot not mugs! Sadly on using the toilet facilities I was shocked to see one grubby towel hanging on the door, which I would never have used before Covid 19 let along during current times!

I wish I had looked at the reviews on here before booking a Mother’s Day afternoon tea from there as I would have certainly been put off. We received this box and a little box of side salad at a cost of £33! We were shocked and thought we should have received two boxes of this but were told that ‘no this is a box for two people’3 crusty finger sandwiches each which tasted like they had been prepared the night before1 scone each which tasted shop bought 1 cupcake each probably the only nice thing on the platter 1 soggy biscuit each2 sweets each2 shrived up strawberry’s each How they can justify charging £16.50pp for this is beyond me and when I contacted them the customer service was equally as bad and tried to justify charging this amount for so little and bad quality food. We ended up going to Sainsbury’s to buy sandwiches and Swiss rolls in the end as it was un edible. Id avoid this place at any cost in future.

Let's support a small business in the pandemic I thought. 2x afternoon teas (1 vegan) delivery. What better way to treat my elderly mum who like so many I haven't seen in person for months, and my brother who has sacrificed so much to care for her during this time.4 (FOUR) hours after the delivery window, what turned up was a disgrace for 1 person let alone 2 and amounted to:3 slices of bread for the tiny sandwiches 1 scone1 tiny fairy cake1 biscuit3 strawberries2 after dinner mints2 fizzy penny sweets1 (very) small tub of saladYours 4 hours late, unlabeled as vegan (at extra cost) and delivered (maskless) for the princely sum of £38.50 In other words, whatever was left over? That's what it looked like.Incidentally the house is approx 4 mins drive from the shop, 5 if the traffic is bad. But this took 4 hours.I wouldn't be writing this if they'd at least apologised & held their hands up, instead of blaming other customers(!) the roads, and plain lying when I called. Nobody called me, or apologised until I pointed out that would be a start.I was eventually offered a free cream tea voucher by way of apology in a facebook messenger text, which I declined without swearing somehow. So a rip off, late, vegan and non-vegan piled in together unlabeled, and everyone else's fault but the shop's. Don't bother.

Me and my partner came here for lunch after being seated, the service was extremely slow we waited over 25 minutes to be served whilst there only being 1 other table occupied. After ordering we then waited another 20 minutes for our pot of tea, whilst waiting we saw that the child who was running around the place had been sick in the kitchen! All whilst the waitress was bringing food and drink in and out the kitchen. Also the lady who im presuming is the owner/manager appeared to be full of a cold constantly sniffing, coughing and rubbing her face. Whilst wearing no face mask we couldnt believe it! At that point we should have left. Overall really disappointed we definitely won't be returning.

We had previously visited this establishment, some time ago, but this visit did not compare very well. Perhaps it has changed management. Our visit got off to a bad start. We were shown to a table in front of the “Sweet Shop”. This half of the cafe was already crowded; the other half was empty. We were handed sticky and tatty menus which contained fayre more suited to a greasy spoon than a “Victorian Tearoom”. We opted for the “Cake Platter” for three people. This consisted of a pot of tea, a scone with jam and clotted cream, and a piece of cake. Unfortunately, the choice of cake was limited to lemon drizzle, chocolate, or french fancy. The order took ages to arrive, despite there being an apparent abundance of staff who treated us to a shouted conversation between them and the customers who were standing round our table. This wasn’t the ambience we were expecting. The tea and cake were ok, if a little overpriced. The cafe emptied and the loud conversations mercifully ceased. Before we had finished, one member of staff started to clear our table. I told her we hadn’t quite finished, but she insisted on continue to clear the table and actually picked up a piece of cake from the platter and dumped it on my plate. She used her fingers! This was later made worse by the fact that we saw her outside stroking a dog and then returned to work inside without washing her hands! We will not be returning.

I visited with a colleague and had raved about the ambiance and quality of food having been many times over the last few years and even came for my birthday celebration last year. However today it fell way below what was expected.I ordered the carved ham salad and my colleague the tuna jacket potato. Unfortunately the salad was a real disappointment, there was no carved ham, it was probably one ( 2 if I’m being really generous) chopped up slice of thin ham (the chopped up square slices, this definitely was not real ham at all and was certainly not carved??!!??). It was served in a soup bowl with 1 maybe 2 cherry tomatoes on a handful of lettuce, cucumber and onion... and coleslaw served in an egg cup. My colleagues tuna and coleslaw were also served in egg cups to accompany her jacket and side salad. We weren’t looking for a huge meal but it certainly wasn’t worth the £6 or so they both cost, you can get better (and more) at Subway. Although friendly, the waitress didn’t ask if everything was ok. Even if she had asked, I certainly wouldn’t have wanted any more plastic ham. I do have to say that the coleslaw was really creamy and lovely though. Anyway, the sad thing is that I doubt we will return, it’s a shame as our office have moved into the area and it would have been a great place for a few of us to visit more often. Please can you change your menu to be more realistic as to what you are serving.... carved ham has images of thickly sliced chunks, not cheap sandwich squares.

When my daughter challenged the owner and said it was only £20 for 2 having the afternoon tea she replied but you have had the mother’s day menu. My daughter replied but it isn’t Mother’s Day and you’ve doubled the bill for the same meal her justification was that she had put on extra chocolates so had 4 tiny mint chocolates and she thought this was acceptable. I have paid the bill but thought this women has completely ripped me off the Dick Turpin Of Glazebury I wouldn’t advise anyone to go and would recommend Bents nurseries for a lovely experience.

Where do I start! We arrived on time for our 2pm reservation to be told our table was not ready!! They said could we go to bents and come back as no where for us to sit and wait or could we sit at tables outside ...... no not with my 80 years old mother, so we sat in our car parked outside why we waited for our table. When we sat down we were presented with average sandwiches, Costco scones, some inedable cake and buiscuit ..... certainly not £19.99 each worth of afternoon tea but I was with my mum and daughters so we had a laugh about it and made the most of it. We likened it to a bush tucker trial. My mum was thirsty so we asked for an extra pot of tea and was not told this would be an extra charge, so was shocked when I got the bill to be charged an extra £10 yes £10 for a pot of tea, not extra milk !!!!! I questioned this to be told I want to try going to bents!! They seem to have a thing about bents!!!! Mmmm well you need to do your market research, bents charge £24.99 for 2 people for a far superior experience and quality food, also check out sweet little things .... enough said. Well I don’t expect a response but I do hope the owners of this place do some reflection on their rip off Mother’s Day afternoon tea, because you truly know in your heart you have ripped us off. I would have persued my complaint in your shop further but for the fact I did not want to upset my elderly mum ..... you ought to be very ashamed of yourselves!!!

The sweetshop sell all the oldstyle sweets in glass jars, sweets remembered from your youth if you are over a certain age. you may find it a little more expensive than your cafes.. but give me nice staff, personal attention, nice tasting food any day.. It is one of my favourite places to eat when I want to eat far from the madding crowd. the small car park holds about five cars, but you can park across the road in a quiet side street. So it may not be your taste, but it is mine.

We have passed this tea rooms many Times on our way to Leigh and thought how lovely it looked, I decided to call with my mum and a friend today. We ordered a mug of tea each (1.50) this wasn't a mug it was a cup, we just got hot water in the cup and a teabag on the side, then was asked do we want sugar and milk! I ordered 2 crumpets so me and mum could have one each. The girl brought us 2 each so we didn't say anything. I bit into mine and it was cold and still frozen in the middle the butter was in a little pack and was already melted, how on earth can you serve a crumpet wrong for goodness sake, I shouted the young girl over who took them back to the kitchen. She brought them back out and guess what they were still cold/warm! Unbelievable. We ate what we could as was to embarrassed to ask again, not at any time was we asked was everything okay, shocking customer services and shocking food preparation. Visited for a belated afternoon tea with our daughters, and our nearly 2 year old grandsons. The tearooms fitted us in close to the point when they closed for the afternoon and were extremely helpful with our requests for high chairs etc. We were the only party in the tea shop that afternoon, following a very busy lunchtime. We were able to choose the contents of the sandwiches, which had really fresh bread and fillings, lovely variety of cakes and fresh baked scones. They even brought us extra clotted cream when we ran out and plenty of fresh boiling water for the tea. It was a delicious treat with no pressure on time. Our afternoon tea cost £24.95 for 2, and they created really well for the toddlers, who thoroughly enjoyed their sandwiches. We thoroughly enjoyed this relaxing treat.

Went as a family as part of a birthday treat for myself, the waitress came to take order ask what the soup was and she didn't know had to go and ask, asked what meat was in the hot pot again she didn't know. I ordered the veg soup and a carved ham sandwich with mustard, I got chicken & veg soup with a boiled ham sandwich on thin bread, i had to send it back as there was no mustard on it for the £6.40 it was I expected home cooked ham and a thick ish piece hand carved on a thick bread, not packet ham. It came back with a pot of mustard so even had to make half the sandwich myself, If i wanted the sandwixh toasted that would be another £1.50 for what? Putting in a aandwich press? It was not value for money, the service was poor, if people are going to charge extortionate amounts for poor quality food then at least get the service right, the rest of the family enjoyed what they had but I don't enjoy getting poor service and paying a premium for inferior food. Staff training and more professionalism required.

What a highly unpleasant experience, settling the bill couldn't come quick enough. The menu is disorganised, the food overpriced and the customer service abysmal. We definitely won't be returning.

Popped in for a bite to eat with friends. Had a bacon on toast which was truly awful . The toast was buttered with cheap margarine and the bacon which I took off to dap the fat turned my napkin brown!. Need to clean the griddle pan I think!.

Sunday afternoon walk and thought we would pop in for a soup and sandwich. The fact that the place only had one other couple in should have been a sign ! As a clean freak I went and checked out the toilet first .. to be fair it was spotless but did only offer a standard hand towel ( how many people had used it previously ?)

Visited this tea room while on a "Who do You Think You Are" mission to Glazebury. My Grandfather was born there in 1892 and while holidaying in South Cheshire we decided to drive up to see the place. After having a fine, big pot of 'real' tea and lovely freshly made sandwiches, we had a great chat with the owner about Glazebury and the surrounding farms. We left her having a hearty laugh about one of my family stories. Over all a very pleasant and enjoyable visit to a quaint little tea rooms!!

Food we ordered was okay but nothing special. Charged £5 for a pot of tea !!! couldn't believe it - thought they had made a mistake but apparently not. The two youngsters who served us were very polite however the whole experience and standards did not match their inflated charges. We shall not be going back.

After years of driving past this place we finally decided to give it a go for Saturday lunch. First thing we noticed was that it was dead, amusingly we were asked if it was a table for two then being told to sit anywhere. Food was ok, I had the full breakfast which was fine but nothing spectacular - reasonable price though. My better half had the prawn salad which came with a lot of king prawns and was deemed a success.

Have been a few times never had any qualms, we even booked mothers day but we do think the quality has gone down. We had a ham sandwich which was one piece of wafer thin ham and the brown bread wasnt the best or freshest also a tuna one on white the bread was fresh bit didn't come with the said cucumber... Cakes Bog standard service good clean and a lovely cuppa, but m_rays charge fifteen pounds for two a saving of ten pounds for the same quality.

I popped in for a breakfast and was not disappointed, the egg was a little overcooked for me but otherwise everything was perfect, freshly cooked, hot, nicely presented, and served with a smile. The cakes on display all looked delicious, I really need to try an afternoon tea.

Found this place by accident, we had an hour to kill before going to a show and stumbled across this place when driving round. Unfortunately it was 20 mins before there closing time, so I expected not to be allowed in but we were welcomed in and were not rushed or asked to leave at any point. We just had a drink and a scone, the drinks came with old fashioned tea pots with real tea leaves and strainers. Had never had it like that before, was very impressed. There was a few different scones to choose from and came warm, delicious. The decor in the tea room is great, and the old fashioned till is a perfect touch. Will definitely return for an afternoon tea soon.

I visited last week with my family. My sister has a newborn and a toddler so it was good to get her out of the house. I brought along my pre schooler and we were having a lovely catch up. A snotty woman came over to our table and asked in the most horrid and dramatic manner, she begged if we could stop the toddler banging on the table on the highchair. "She had a banging horrendous headache" the noise was driving her crazy and she didn't want to ruin anything but if we could just stop him doing it. Bear in mind this is a 2 year old with a toy elephant he was pretending to walk across his tray and the tearoom is one room. The whole place fell silent, we were shocked and dumbstruck. The little one started to tap the elephant during her speech and i was infuriated when she did an oscar winning near death performance and touched his hand to be still. After that everything felt awkward and we left shortly after that. We didn't want to retaliate and make the other customers feel even worse as there was a group celebrating a 21st behind us. The food and decor was lovely, staff were helpful and polite. I know that they can't do anything about how customer act towards each other so it wasn't their fault.

Walking in we received a walk welcome & chose a table under the mirror. We ordered 2 cream teas. This consisted of a scone each with strawberry jam & fresh clotted cream & a choice of tea or coffee. The scones were of a decent size & full of fruit. These scones aren't as big as Bents but they are better. I highly recommend the scones. Best we've ever had.

Not enough tea to sustain us during the lengthy wait for the meal. Toast served with unwanted matter on one corner which had to be sent back. Card reader failed and we were expected to leave the cafe and return with cash - the suggestion was that we undertook this immediately. Furthermore, we were asked for our vehicle registration!

I visited with a friend on Sunday having had no other food that day. My friends pannini had hairs all over the bottom so sent it back. I had the ploughman's lunch and within an 15 minutes of eating I felt nauseous. Within two hours I was vomiting and had extremely severe diarrhea. Two days later I'm off work and still not able to eat anything at all and can barely stomach water.

The wife had to negotiate her way passed the gabbing staff members to look for some. They asked the wife what she wanted and said WHITE and pushed a bowl of sugar towards her.

Came with friends for a spot of lunch. I ordered a large Americano with a toasted tea cake, friends ordered jacket potatoes which came out microwaved ...coffee was awful and no way worth £2.70. Plus it came out well before food so it was drunk before we'd eaten. It's a shame as it could be lovely

Overpriced, poor service - don't bother going. Don't waste your time or money. Scones are not homemade - are bought in from Costco. We waited 30 mins to be brought a cup of tea and coffee - service was shockingly poor with 5 staff stood in the 'kitchen' area texting. Your 'cook doesn't bake so your 'home-made' signage is inaccurate. You're a cafe, so amend your pricing and signage to reflect this and be honest with customers and show them respect.

Sunday 1330 ish, was pleased to see the sign outside " Now Serving Breakfast" after reading the menu I chose my breakfast and was informed that they had stopped doing breakfast for the day ..... Re read the menu and settled on the pie of the day although it strangely came with a jacket potato with either baked beans or mushy peas.

I had often driven past this place thinking I should call in there one day. Recently my friend decided book here to hold a special gathering, so I was delighted I'd get to try it out. There had been numerous calls to get this organised, each time a little more confidence was lost in how well this was going to run as there seemed to be a lot of disorganization resulting in 2 actual visits to the shop to make arrangements. But it's afternoon tea, what could go wrong??

We decided to go for afternoon tea instead of lunch in an pub or resturant. It was a lovely change for us, the staff are very friendly, informative and gave a very prompt and efficient service. There is more than enough food, which makes a change, as some of the more expensive establishments can charge up to £20 per person for afternoon tea.

Went there this afternoon with my sister, for my birthday treat. A choice of one sandwich, which the sandwich was ok. The choice of cakes were nil, just given a plate with a cake each and a scone. My sister on eating her cake took one bite and revealed a large hair which was baked into the cake. Quietly called the staff member over, she did apologise and offer my sister another cake, at this point she did feel a little sickly. On leaving no further apology, it was as if it hadn't happened. No discount off the bill or a reduction. Customer service was appalling. Also heard all about the staff members kidney stones whilst eating my sandwich, I do realise she was talking to customers on the next table, but it's not something I wish to hear about whilst eating. Overall very disappointed, and I don't call myself a fussy person really, but felt very let down by this tea rooms and its so called service.

Myself, my daughter and two friends visited todsy and were thoroughly disappointed! We had afternoon tea of which we could have a choice of 1 sandwich filling, a slice of cake, a scone with jam and clotted cream and loose leaf tea. Sandwiches were fine although everywhere else I have been offer a selection of fillings. No clotted cream, we had a choice of squirtg cream and butter. My daughter is gluten intolerant which they were informed of when booking. She recieved a slice of lemon cake and a bakewell tart, no GF scone. She doesnt like bakewell and after eating a couple of mouthfulls of the lemon slice she said she could not eat anymore as it was too dry. We lifted it up and loomed u derneath and it was covered in green mould! They apologised and said it was fresh, RUBBISH!!!! They then brought her the driest most stale looking brownie and some other cake slice. I then found a hair in my scone and we all stopped eating. I did not mention the hair as by that point there didnt seem much point. We asked for the bill which should have been £42 for 3 afternoon teas, and 1 GF afternoon tea. They knocked £4 off, absolutely ridiculous. My daughter felt sick all afternoon at the thought of eating the mould. If this establishment wants to keep going it needs better customer service and ability to rectify compaints. We will not be returning.

We’ve always loved going to the Green Dragon but last nights experience was spoilt by the attitude of some of the serving staff. Always had lovely smiley staff previously but not so last night. One young woman was positively unwelcoming and not very friendly. Would always give GD 5 stars before but this spoilt our experience last night.

I used to love this pub but everything is now so average and still expensive. I took the dog and the pub itself is still nice to be in but it's not good enough for the cost. I had a mixed grill £18, no better than anything I'd expect in Weatherspoon's for half that price, dry chicken and rubbery meat reminding me of the old little chef's. The beer was over £6 a pint, there's just no point in going into this pub anymore.
