Took over an hour to get our food the got charged twice for it

We'd never been to the Thorn inn but would certainly recommend it for lunch and it's welcoming atmosphere. No idea of the ladies name who took our menu choices but she could not have been more helpful.

Great little pub. Drinks are great and is pretty cheap. Food is fine! Just need to clean the sitting outside otherwise 10/10

Joe, Amy and Team have really turned this place around and about time! Lovely country feel pub but now finally with a warm welcoming vibe. Nice balance of sports, dining and dog friendly zones all clearly observed and managed if you want a quiet decent meal without dogs, kids and any loud sports commentary. Well done and keep it up! Shout out to big Sam and Lucas for their great service. Sunday roasts are highly recommended.

Went for mother's day and it was absolutely an amazing meal, the service was fantastic 😊. The food was phenomenal so delicious and very highly recommended to anyone going alone, as a couple, family gatherings or even with friends. You need to go down and taste the brilliant food that is served fresh from here! Will be coming back very soon! 😁

Very nice pub and friendly staff and good food

My favourite thing about this pub/restaurant is that it has reasonably-priced side dishes on the menu so it is a good place to eat if you don't have much money with you or don't want a full meal. I ordered a jacket potato after a job interview while I was waiting for a bus but I would order food and drink from here if I was in the area. The atmosphere is nice and the staff were friendly. There is a beer garden at the back of the pub.

Popped in here for some lunch with family after visiting Totally Roarsome. Very child friendly, children's books and colouring sheets. Staff were so friendly and welcoming, we had the lunchtime special, very good value for money. Lovely atmosphere

An absolutely fantastic 1st meal and drinks at the thorn inn after recently moving to the area. The new manager Joe is a fine host, the food is amazing ! very tasty with well balanced flavours and a varied menu. The prawn, chorizo risotto was very fresh and the breaded katsu curry had amazing flavour and texture. The apple and blackberry crumble with custard is delicious. The staff were all very approachable and helpful. We will definitely be back soon, highly recommended popping in and trying this lovely venue.

What a lovely place food was amazing atmosphere lovely and relax. Chef Emma well what can we say. She knows how to cook a steak and fish and chips. All staff so friendly, I love it here. Would highly recommend this place. Don’t just take my word for it. You need to try it out, thank you Judy and staff for looking after us 🥰

Went on a Friday night with a few friends! Enjoyed the new fizz Friday deal. The food was excellently cooked by the chef, we ordered a katsu curry and fish cakes. Izzy was our server that night and she was friendly all throughout and made our night enjoyable!

Called into the Thorn Inn early evening having had to go and collect some forgotten items left at Park Royal Hotel earlier in the day, have never been here before. Very quiet though was early on Thursday evening, had two lovely meals, my wife had steak (Steak Thursday) and I had the gammon off the main menu. Both beautifully cooked, piping hot & looked after wonderfully by Izzy and Sam - thanks to all for a lovely meal.

We came in for Valentine’s Day, the food was great and served quickly, and Izzy and Sam were very attentive and made our visit enjoyable.

Thank you for looking after us Michelle, you made us feel very welcome & nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was family friendly, with a warming fire keeping us toasty. Every where is kept clean. Our food was tasty, all 4 of us had empty plates. The menu suited all our dietary preferences.

Great food and great service. We encountered a website booking issue and they called to resolve it straight away. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was cooked to perfection.

Booked our Christmas Dinner here and we were not disappointed at all. Reasonably priced and very tasty 4 course meal. Smoked Salmon starter followed by Turkey with all the trimmings and tasty desert choice. Served by lovely staff.

We took our grand children to have breakfast with Santa, a great experience for them. Great service, only us in the pub so was quite personalised, staff couldnt be more attentive. Would recommend others to try this, even Santa was chatty.

Friendly Staff, really polite and pleasant. The food was exceptional I had the lamb shank and mash which was amazing in flavor. The menu is really good with a good list of food, however the menu font could be made a little bigger. However I would really recommend anyone to visit this establishment as I believe you won't be disappointed. Will be going back again in the near future!!!

"Ran out" of a lot of items on lunch menu and the replacements offered (for vegetarian) was, basically, stale bread. A very nice barman though who was clearly embarrassed.

This is my new local since moving to the area. Cannot fault it. Atmosphere great. Food lovely and some real bargains - gammon and chips for £7.50 each if purchased for two.

we are a walking party of 30 persons,we where made so welcome by the staff ,Joanne the manager and Amy her able assistant,we all had a meal and drinks served by these two lovely ladies without a hitch ,nothing was to much trouble and all done with smiles,highly recommended.wed 29th november.

Why is the pub shutting at 10 pm on a Thursday? Staff cleaning up at 9.30 making you feel uncomfortable. 10 people drinking in the pub at the time. When 3 of us asked why are you closing we were told the other people were leaving. Having spoken to the other people they were told that we were leaving. Total joke. The kitchen is apparently open till 9 pm so if you order a meal at 8.50 then wait the usual half hour that leaves you 40 minutes to eat your starter wait for main then order and wait for dessert. Hmmm great experience

The Thorn seemed to be on a bit of a downhill slope since Covid, but now under new management with Joe, things are looking up. His customer service and attention to detail is first rate, the food was great and served promptly. I wish him and the team the best of luck and we will certainly be supporting them in the future.

Excellent food , lovely place , well worth a visit

It became a sad shadow of what was once a great pub. Has just been taken over so perhaps glory days are around the corner again. Update: Things getting better. Guiness is ok. Branded lagers are ridiculously priced but IPA reasonable

I have lived in the village for 27 years. This once thriving pub is a shadow of its former self. Called in this evening for a pint, the first time for a week and the second time in 3 weeks. At around 7pm the kitchen was shut again due to no chef again, a regular occurrence. Most beers and larger off due to running out of gas yet again, a now regular occurrence. Morretti, had it been on had just gone up to £6.25 nearly £1.50 a pint more than the Village Hall which is less than two minutes walk away. Unfortunately, the Village Hall only opens Thursday to Sunday. Often, when it is available tastes poor due to dirty drink lines compared to the Village Hall. Not surprisingly there were only 3 people in the pub this evening. Lime and Soda is a ripoff £2.20 a pint, soda is free so charging £2.20 for a small amount of lime cordial. Many locals who used to be regulars have deserted the pub. I used to pop in most nights and when the food was good, which is now many years ago my wife and I used to eat there usually at least one a week. We are about to have yet another change of manager. The current one is frankly hopeless. As Green King don’t seem able to run the pub well in what is a wealthy catchment area, perhaps they should sell it to a pub group who can. The place could be a goldmine if the management had a clue how to run it or cared what the locals wanted, such as Stella, which was drunk by many of the former regulars. As a result I left without buying anything and had a Stella at home, 3 minutes walk away! Joanne who was on and is excellent and has been a member of staff for many years was embarrassed.

Just wanted to say thank you to Joanne. Had a lovely meal with a friend on Tuesday. Great service from Joanne and excellent advice on wine choice, can’t wait to return.

A group of us called in yesterday for lunch and were fairly disappointed with the food served. Two of the meals were very overdone and really should not have been served. We did complain and a replacment was offeed, but when it arrived it was just the item - not a full meal. Which meant the chips etc that had been served with the original meal were cold. The meal was not charged for but there was just a lack of care and enthusiasm from the staff to get it right first time. This could be a super little pub but perhap the fact very few people were in spoke for itself.

Can clearly see why the pub is dead with the non existent welcome. The lady that served us looked like she'd chewed a wasp.

Absolutely disgusting Sunday Dinner should have realised when we walked in. Ordered payed for Sunday roast turkey dinner, roast Beef dinner No Yorkshires available ?? No one in so why?? Turkey slimey , beef over cooked Microwaved I suspect Roast potatoes were frozen not fresh, Teaspoon full of Stuffing Looked appalling when it came, didn’t want any veg so asked for extra roast with my turkey instead, was charged for extra, if known they were frozen would not have bothered. Told the waitress when she came to clear it was terrible, she just said sorry would you like to order a pudding not on the house but another extra. Even my dog turned her nose up at the turkey. If in the area drive on !!

Came in last week having booked a table for 8pm for 5 of us, arrived at 7:50 to be told the kitchen is closed and we shouldn’t have been able to book a table for then. The team leader was rude and abrupt when informing us of this and berated their young colleague behind the bar upon our arrival. Thankfully we were able to be seated but the supervisor’s attitude stunk to high heaven. God knows how you get repeat business if this is how you address colleagues and customers alike.

Slow service with regard to the food.

We were told as we arrived that there was a party of 29 so there could be a delay even though we'd pre-booked, we got our drinks fairly quickly and ordered our food which we waited 40 minutes for and to be told there was no beef, the turkey dinner wasn't brilliant, we then ordered dessert to be told no apple & blackberry crumble, one dessert was brought out after 25 minutes and the other 2 ten minutes after, definitely won't be returning

Went for a Sunday Roast with family. Booked the table for 4.30pm. Ordered and had to ask to be seated. Ordered our meals, only one starter was ordered, and 3 mains. My brothers main arrived. Ours didn't! Then his starter came after hed eaten his main! Our mains still didn't arrive until about 55 minutes later! It was chucked on the plate lukewarm and even got our payments wrong at the end of it all! I appreciate they were short staffed, but there was hardly anyone else in the place! They were incredibly unapologetic and the service was appalling. I won't be returning.

Pre booked a table online for 3:15, arrived at 3:10. Seated after a few minutes. We ordered our drinks and meal pretty much straight away as we’d been told there was up to an hours wait for food. Our drinks came, followed an hour later by my starter. A further 30 minutes later our mains eventually turned up. I had the burger and rosemary salted fries. The burger lacked flavour and the few fries I did have had no rosemary season on them. My mother had the turkey roast dinner, the nicest thing on it was the Cauliflower cheese. The rest was bland and cold, hardly any gravy. The roast potatoes looked like they hadn’t seen an oven. The broccoli was very over cooked and the “seasonal vegetables” were also overcooked. All in all not a great experience. The only saving grace was my 20% off bluelight discount as I felt it over priced for what it was. Certainly won’t recommend or go back.

A great meal, I had the Steak and Ale Pie (Huge!) with nice mashed potatoes. My partner had the Mixed grill, some left over for our dog at home there was much on the plate. Well cooked and served with a smile. Bar staff friendly, as usual. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Could become a regular thing again. Our friends who dined earlier raved about the beef bourguignon.

Driven past this pub many times over the years but never been in. Decided to call yesterday for a meal and drink and was so pleased that we did. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and great menu at realistic prices. Will be calling in more often now. Thanks to Michelle & Sue for making us so welcome.

This is our local and its lovely looking building, great location but having had distinctly average food here shortly after lockdown, we’ve not been since. Called into the beer garden today for a drink and it seems general standards haven’t improved. Given it’s the height of summer the patio/ beer garden is grotty. The little candle holders were fully of water from the rain, as was the full from the night before ash tray. Loads of weeds between the flags, dirty furniture and given we were here around 45 minutes no one took away the leftovers from the next table. If Green King got their finger out and put a proper management team in this place would be a gold mine. Update: Green king got in touch to discuss and requested I email them. Email sent and no response. Clearly just an attempt to appear that they care but obviously they can’t be bothered.

Attended for a meal with friends. After waiting for at least 5 mins waiting to be seated whilst the blonde haired girl was chatting at far end of bar. She then shouted over to ask are we waiting for food we said yes to which we were told still the kitchens closed. It was 25 past 7 in evening. We were not offered drinks she just shrugged and carried on chatting. We left and will not be returning

Lovely place for drinks with Family and friends. The staff are friendly in particular Izzy on the bar, she’s alway smiling and goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

Really dissatisfied had to take drink back glass was dirty and sticky around the top..Then order 2 lasagna that was dried out and burnt which we could lift up on the fork ..Offered discount on meal just excepted drinks instead wouldn't recommend the place after waiting 45mins to eat ..Worst food iv had in a long time ..

Such a shame about this pub because the decor inside is lovely but they were really poorly staffed and the young waitresses were not very confident with their jobs. Food was only average and I was asked to re choose from the menu 3 times as they didn’t have what I wanted. We had to wait almost an hour for food and there were only 2 families there. Really poor experience overall.

Did a huge walk, went for some lunch (Thursday) no food on !! On a Thursday that's super bad for business it's about making money, no food being served! The woman behind the bar seemed quite happy telling myself & my mother, that was all she said no apologies no nothing else just 'no food being served today' went to the London Bridge it was lovely so I was happy, however for a pub not to serve food especially towards weekend is baffling ! I have ate here before tbh & it wasn't great so ............

Actually ordered food as a takeaway. A shame because a family member was a bit poorly, its a lovely pub inside. Eleanor and the chef prepared the food as ordered and in timely fashion. A good experience bringing it home carefully packaged and so, I would happily return to this nice local country pub that's also dog friendly, and with a nice beer garden
