The Walton Arms in Warrington

We haven’t eaten here for a good few years and will not be rushing back. Understandably we had our 2 dogs with us so was asked to sit in the bar. The bar area is so scruffy. The bench seat was taped together. The wooden surrounds were all flaking and in need of a good sanding and painting. There were no staff behind the bar for a good 10 minutes. We were told 35 minutes wait on food, but waited close to an hour. Only saw 3 staff in the whole place. Given its half term week I would have expected extra staff. It looked like a funeral party was arriving as we left. I have no idea how they will cope with that with so few staff. Food was also mediocre for the average £17 main course price. Not impressed at all. Used to be such a nice place 🤷🏼‍♀️

Despite reserving, our table was not ready. The food took over 45 minutes to arrive and the vegetables were almost raw. We could not eat them. The beef was very tough and overcooked, the pork crackling was impossible to bite into. The 'superior' burger was anything but, and the chips were unseasoned. Overall, we all found the food to be somewhat bland and underwhelming. We will not return. The staff were friendly, especially at the bar.

Jack the deputy manager and the staff at the Walton Arms were great today and made a sad day more bearable. They provided excellent food and drinks for my dad's wake. I would highly recommend them for any occasion.

We had a meal there a few weeks ago, for the first time in years. We were looking forward to a sunday roast, Our meal arrived on a warm plate, and that was a good start, we thought. We were disappointed that it arrived luke warm at best. It was sent back, only to come back 10 mins later the same, luke warm. We now didn't want it. The waitresses offered us an alternative meal. That was hot and we enjoyed it. So well done for stepping up and sorting it out. That's all you can hope for, that a problem is fixed. We would call in again and give them another chance.

We were served by Maxine who was very helpful and helped with our selection of the food. The food itself was tasty and plentiful - a thank you to the cooks Gas and Jono.

I’ve been here a number of times over the years but I have to say this time I was very disappointed. I ordered the fish cakes which at nearly £17 I would expect something decent. What I got was 2 flat, dry, clearly bought in and cooked from frozen fish cakes. I’ve tasted better ones from the freezer section in Tescos. The hollandaise was tasteless and clearly not homemade either. Alongside dry boiled potatoes and broccoli it was a struggle to get through. On top of that they didn’t even have ketchup for the kids meals or straws for the kids drinks. On the bright side the kids chicken goujons seemed decent, possibly handmade which made up for it a bit.

Lovely evening. Great food and the quiz night was an unexpected plus. Would definitely recommend will be back soon. Thank you

It's was okay really quiet for a Saturday evening thought it would be busier for a Saturday evening food good though

Sunday lunch was very poor. We waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive, which was of very poor quality. The only slight saving grace was the waitress who apologised for the delay. We will not be returning.

Traditional pub, Good service and food was for a funeral which was fine and the hot food was hot. Unfortunately no ale deliveries so no draught beer today.

Just been with my mum for our usual sunday scran, not been the walton arms in a long time so thought we’d give it a go! All sounded the part on the menu, really friendly waitress sat us where we’d be warm etc. Orders a sunday trio for my mum, fish and chips for me and a garlic and cheese mushrooms as the side for us to pick at. Half way through the mushrooms I bit into something hard so i spat it back out and found it was a blue piece of plastic that looked like it’d come from the corner of a container/tub of some kind. It put me off wanting to eat the rest of the fish and chips I was enjoying, as the sensation of biting and nearly swallowing plastic just turned my stomach. I pointed it out to the waiting staff immediately and they sent the manager over. Things happen so I wasn’t annoyed nor did I make a fuss of it, but when the manager came over he said ‘we’ve had a look in the kitchen and can’t find ANYTHING that resembles that blue plastic we only use white plastic so don’t understand how it’s gotten in your mushrooms, however I will take the mushrooms off the bill” Me and my mum replied kindly “yeh that’s fine thank you” and when he walked away we both commented that a simple apology would have been suffice not a slight insinuation that we’d brought this bloody blue plastic in with us and thrown it into our food, for what to save a few quid? Talking of saving a few quid however, with me sending the fish and chips back I did stupidly assume they’d also be taking that from the bill or part of it atleast, Anyways long story slightly longer we were charged £40 for a fish and chips (I didn’t finish) and a carvery my mum pretty much only consumed the yorkshire pudding on (as the veg was undercooked BIG TIME) won’t be returning but thank you for making us feel as though we planted the blue plastic ourselves as a way to get out of paying an additional £4, when we were happy to pay £40 for practically inedible (though fancy looking) food. see picture of blue plastic spotted in mushrooms after we’d left from a video id taken and posted to my snapchat as soon as the food arrived. How i didn’t notice it before i’d got stuck in i’ll never know, thank god I did spit it out and not consume it. Waitresses lovely, Managers a bit of a t*sser

Not quite sure why this place is still open I have tried it couple of times , service poor , tonight we just walked out , got told no starters , and half the mains are off , So just walked out must of been 6 people in , why is this place going down so much use to be a nice place

Food was excellent and service was good, until we ordered dessert.....half of them came out, and then we were told that the kitchen had shut off the oven and couldn't do the remaining 2 desserts. We said that we weren't happy about it, and they did sort it eventually. The waiting staff were excellent, but we were quite surprised about the situation, especially as we'd seen the kitchen staff having a cigarette out the front of the pub only minutes before.

Staff was really rude didn’t get seated straight away after staff walked past me twice, ordered the trio carvery and didn’t get turkey on it and they didn’t tell me they didn’t have any left so I wouldn’t have got that as it was £20 for a roast ,food was okay well overpriced for what it was, won’t be going back again

We arranged our funeral reception here. The staff were really helpful on our first visit to enquire, and on the day of the event the food was brilliant, there was plenty of it and the staff were friendly and attentive. They were happy to provide vegan options.

Had a lovely roast dinner here today. Service was great. Thanks to Maxine and Max and obviously the chefs too, Gaz, Cal and Jono. Would definitely recommend this pub for a visit.

Best Roast I've had for a long time. Glad I didn't get a starter. Staff were Brilliant especially Maxine and Max who made our visit especially Brilliant. The large glass of wine was expensive though. Definitely would go back for a Sunday Roast.

I took my 90 year old God mum for an early dinner at the Walton Arms a month or so ago - I had a voucher but it had expired. The table was in the lovely cosy seated area and the service and food were really good – we ate everything on our plates! Tim (the manager – I think) honoured the voucher and even extended the hospitality by checking the oil in my car (I was worried because the engine light had come on). Dog friendly too! We had a lovely evening and will definitely be back.

A very welcoming team - as we had booked a large table for a family birthday they put us in a area that was away from other diners and felt like a private room. Good food and service - exactly what you would expect. Servers were very good and helped take the obligatory family photo.

Friendly staff, helpful and accomodating with menu choices ( younger ones don't always want something thats on the plate!). ideal for a visit after a day in the park nearby and there is a part which can be used for big parties such as ours.

First timers. Food was lovely, portions ample, I had the trio Sunday dinner and all the meats were deliciously succulent. Staff were attentive and friendly, couldn't ask for more. QR didn't work but we were served by Maxine and our chefs were Gaz and Charlie. Thanks guys, will happily return.

We went on a Monday, and unfortunately we were the only ones dining, so not a lot of atmosphere. The food was okay, even though it seemed to have been pre-prepared, and then heated through. Service was good.

Fur coat, no knickers! Our mains were okay, but the dessert was tragic! Definitely not something I'd expect from a Mitchel & Butler venue.

Nice looking pub, good atmosphere, however the food was really quite poor, both roast dinners were well below standard, chewy meat, awful roasties and dry crispy Yorkshire puddings, roasted carrots were nice though. Not the best birthday treat, we will not be returning.

First time here though I’m only local, will definitely be coming again. It’s got a lovely and relaxed atmosphere, plus we had great service from Max :-)

Great find! Food was delicious. Carter for all however limiting to GF or DF options. No baby changing facilities so not greatly friendly for people with babies. Flat entrance but didn't see a disabled toilet and the toilets were down some stairs.
