The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Man at the desk was incredibly rude. Food was freezing Room not cleaned after previous person. same bedsheets still On bed not made. Bed was verry uncomfortable,Room stunk and had damp all on the walls Looks absolutely nothing like the pictures freezing cold water the hot water didn't work the shower was broken ,the light in bedroom didn't even turn on. wouldn't recommend

They no longer do steaks or mixed grills 😡 Walked out.

stayed at adjacent premier inn and booked the meal deal,we stayed 2 nights. when we went for dinner approximately one third of the meals were unavailable and no draught beers.On second night more than half of meals were unavailable, no draught beers and very few bottled beers.explained they were closing for refurbishment and stocks were run down.i felt sorry for the staff they were embarrassed and it was not there fault.On returning home i contacted whitbred customer service and had a reply saying sorry about that we should have told you hope it did not effect your stay come again in the future!,no offer of compensation ,needless to say i wont be going again

The Boathouse seems to have got everything right, just quirky enough to stand out without being over the top, perfect location, beautiful relaxing restaurant where you can watch life on the river. Could have sat watching the ducks for hours. Rooms were newly refurbished, clean and had everything you could need. Free parking. Really made special by lovely welcoming staff from our early arrival to breakfast. Thanks, would definitely recommend.

We visited the pub over the bank holiday weekend. We had seen some great reviews on social media and wanted to try it for ourselves. We have a toddler who really enjoyed playing on the park and watching the planes go by. After playing on the park we decided to grab some lunch and then a drink in the pub. Really recommend the fish burger for anyone stopping for food. The service was exceptional and Sarah was our waitress and was really friendly, attentive and even provided our little one with a colouring set. The reason we have noted as 4/5 stars is the car parking is an absolute nightmare. We waited for a while and ended up parking in a nearby short stay (10 min walk away). Also the play park was extremely busy and there seemed to be a lot of older children playing on there and this meant there was not as much room for smaller children 2-8 year olds.

Out and about for the day with family decided to pop in for lunch. A good decision food was great and the grand kids were able to play which is always good if you want a chance to relax

20 people in our party for lunch (post family wake)..all meals came out together.. and spot on. I don't know how they did but absolutely fabulous. Gone are the days of Kingpingesr of old. We are regulars and love that we have this place on our doorstep. Food great, staff brill, plenty of space - can't ask for more.

Don't know what's gone wrong with this place 2nd time it's been bad, given it good reviews in the past, really cold steak was terrible so tough even though had it medium rare, salad mediocre, cold pepper sauce, shame don't think will be going again,saying that staff good.

Hi we went to Toby Carvery Warrington and we had such great table service from a lovely lady called Karen nothing was a trouble and always came to ask if we needed anything else great service thank would recommend be going again soon 👍😊

Used to be pretty good, now understaffed which affects the standard of service. Breakfast food is left under the heat lamps so dries out and considering that there is not a lot on the counters , does not make for an enjoyable breakfast. Not having enough cups for the hot drinks is not good enough either. The girl looked at the empty tray and walked away. Dinner was not much better. Order was taken quickly but took in excess of 45 minutes to arrive. Sat waiting for dessert for about another 30 minutes. terribly slow service for no reason as the place was empty.

Good quality food, lots of choice, however there is a lack of meat dished up, the carvery chef took turkey off my plate, he had only put one slice on and cut this in half and removed it from my plate, after I asked for a slice of beef. I noticed other customers received more. I am a regular customer and eat here most weekends and I have noticed it seems to be one particular chef that is not very generous with the meat. I recently visited the Carlisle branch which was completely different, very generous portions of meat, would definitely recommend Carlisle, as I am a regular customer at the Widnes branch, I have noticed the lack of meat is consistent, I visited during the week and received more meat, however there was a different chef on duty.
