Good old spoons. Cheap, cheerful and full of the local cabaret

I went in today with a friend and my support dog. I asked the first guy who came to the door, he asked his manager to see if I could have my dog with me. He told me this is a one off and told me to bring ID for my dog next time. He told me that it's all fine as long as my dog didn't make a mess or run around. Later on after we sat down. 2 other workers said that it was all fine after explaining that my dog is a support dog. Later on, this ginger staff member, came up to the table being really patronising kneeling down at the table and started basically going, being incredibly rude, saying that I shouldn't be there and I'm not allowed to be there with my support dog. And he said because we've already ordered, so he can't do anything else about it. Throughout the whole time my support dog lay under the table at my legs and didn't even make a single issue once, while the ginger staff member kept staring and giving dirty looks. Me and my friend was there for over an hour and half just talking and my dog didn't cause an issue. Me and my friend wanted one last drink before leaving, so i went to the bar to order, the bartender proceeded half way through making my drink, before the ginger staff member appeared once more, stood beside him and stopped him from making the drink, and proceeded to pour my order down the sink, and told us that we need to leave because of my dog, essentially rejected being served.

Went on Sunday for late lunch with my friends had nothing to eat that day,i ordered katsu curry never had it before thought id give it a try.went home 4 hours later started feeling sick pains in my stomach was up over 12 hours vomiting and on the toilet never again will I eat from jd weather's 🤢

What an amazing experience with my colleagues for Christmas dinner, peaceful environment, and lovely food 😊 😋

The only thing that is letting this place down is that we don't feel safe drinking here. Can't be helped by staff

Came with my partner for something to eat, my partners garlic bread was hard, my meal was terrible, pie mash peas gravy. For an adult portion size was more like a kid’s portion, mash was dry and hard, gravy was lumpy, when manager was told he informed us they use frozen mash (not stated on menu) and portion size is set by company. Safe to say we will never come back again as our meals were not value for money 😡

Absolutely awful experience today. A friend was treating me to lunch. I like Weatherspoons because there’s Vegan options. However today I was served a burger of some kind after selecting The “ Beyond Burger “ meal with a drink. The burger was not a Beyond burger.We raised our concerns to be told by a young female who rudely argued “ it IS a Beyond burger”. I said I buy these all the time, and can confirm it it not what you say it is. They changed the meal, only to bring back the same burger, which was not a Beyond burger. I then refused to eat it because I wasn’t sure what it was and I am a vegan and have been for many years. I then went to the bar to order a plain jacket & beans only to be told “ I need to pay”. WHAT?? I have already paid. I asked to speak to the manager who refused to give me his name and didn’t offer me a refund. I said I would eat the chips as I was hungry. He said “ no”. With that I am now complaining to HQ as I have a right under the Equality act as a vegan to ask for proof of the packaging the food comes in. The staff here need to attend Customer care/service courses. They were rude and inconsiderate. They made me feel very embarrassed at the bar for doing absolutely nothing wrong. We won’t be coming in again. Terrible experience.

Came here sometime last dec and forgot to leave a review, and I never review so it really bothered me. Food was okay but things were missing but whatever not what this is about. There were several of us, including babies and children and we sat in the downstairs children's area, and a fight broke out next to us and fell on the table. The staff didn't do anything about it and didn't check on us. My elderly mother went to get some sauce, I think was mayo at the time and couldn't find any on the side so she asked the waitress and she replied snarkly "how the hell would I know", so she went to ask the bartender who was also rude and pointed to the waitress she just asked so my, again elder mother chased her down got ignored and she ran into the kitchen and my mother put the foot in the door to ask. Then when I tried to buy drinks I was refused service and wasn't told why. Later, what I think was the manager came to our table and said that one of us forced our way into the kitchen which they have zero policy against so we were all asked to leave. I didn't find out till later my mother's side of the story. I had never in my life had a more embarrassing or disgusted experience in a restaurant ever. All the while the man who was literally throwing fists was still sat on the next table drinking.

Rude arrogant staff very clicky. Act as though doing you a favour by serving you and you are beneath them because you enjoy a drink and like socialising

I'm a Wetherspoons fan so of course I'm biased here. It's cheap, you know you're not getting a 5 star meal but the food is tasty and quick. The app is the best I have used. Spoons were doing app ordering first and they are doing it best. They don't miss anything. Personally I would go to Society Rooms in Stalybridge as parking is better there but this is a nice looking Spoons and the parking is not too expensive

Wasn't impressed that in the 40 mins was in there got a drinks and eaten no one came to clean the table from last customers eve when brought food out still walked away left glasses and food bowl

Consistently good for breakfast on a Saturday. Really like the atmosphere - especially the garden room part which looks out over the beer garden. Great place!

Just a normal town weather spoons

We time our arrival for after 2pm as there is nothing better than an afternoon deal. Ordered our usual fish and chips and it was served up quite quickly. Nice and crunchy batter and chips hot. Well worth the price of <£9 pp, including a pint of lager No complaints about facilities on this occasion.

A long weekend away ended with breakfast in The Ash Tree. Pleasantly surprised with the two traditional breakfasts that were dished up. Hot and well cooked, we tucked in hungrily. A coffee or two washed down the tasty feast and we made our way back to the midlands fed and watered. It's a Wetherspoons and as such we knew what we'd be getting. Enjoyed the morning visit.

The service is terrible, I ordered a pint of wobbly bob to my table and they took 9 minutes to serve it. And the shift manager just plonked it on my table without saying nothing. The food was tepid and bland! Do nut bother 2 out of 10

Great place to chill in the beer garden and have a pint with mates

Lovely staff and service but air conditioning really really cold. Everyone trying to move areas to avoid air con. Staff said they had turned it down but still freezing.

Went today staff we’re good food also good but it was so cold with the air conditioning everybody was trying to change tables to avoid, it made eating uncomfortable we asked for them to turn it down, but, if they did, it wasn’t enough.

I wanted a jacket potato n beans if I wanted salad I would have asked for some .more salad than potato and very dry

Usually eat in Wetherspoons as good value for money. Today was a difficult story. I ordered vegan sausage and Egg muffin (the muffin had 2 eggs and one egg) The first one arrived cold, the staff member who I spoke to took it away and apologised. When I received 2nd one it had one frazzled sausage and overdone egg.

Went with my daughter and grandson just for a brew as we were passing, it has a pleasant atmosphere and I would go again as you can take your family there regardless of age.

Nearly forgot my hat after they'd closed part of the downstairs seating area, one of the staff (unfortunately didn't get his name) came and found us & grabbed my hat out of the office, thank you guys, service was 10/10, food was also lovely !! 🤝🏼

Loving the pub quiz on Wednesday nights 8pm

My daughter & boyfriend went there yesterday, they said never again 😒, the steak pie was all jellyfied yuck 🤮 & the burger was just awful 😖, they have both been up all night, ( food poisoning)

Even when busy, this pub is a great place to be good service, good food, and always good beer. Oh, and it has a good outside area.

Busy but quick service and food was nice

I ate here on Tuesday afternoon and the food (steak and chips) was excellent value. Usually have Doombar beer when in a Weather spoons but spotted some Efes in a bottle, very enjoyable. Good pub with a lively daytime atmosphere.

The young kid behind the bar needs to get a grip. May be get a better paid job low rent

A really decent Wetherspoons pub that is nicely decorated and serves good honest cheap food.

Went here after a long walk on the canal from Ashton to Greenfield. Absolutely soaked through. Lovely greeting from the young man behind the bar. Staff were extremely efficient and friendly. Everyone knew everyone it was like a the series Cheers! Lol Well done to all the staff.

So I ended up talking to Danny and he is excellent bartender and manager

Staff were really friendly and attentive. The conservatory was really nice to dine in. Ordered via the app and food arrived within 15 minutes. The halloumi burger and pizza were tasty however the chips were quite cold. Would Return again

I was starving and could have eaten anything. When the ultimate burger came it looked pathetic. It looked like all the cheapest ingredients had been thrown together by someone who didn't care. I left a load of it, something that never happens. Left disappointed.

One of the best Wetherspoons I've eaten at (and there is a list). Food was fast, but cooked right, service was great. The building is like a TARDIS and so big when you walk in.

Fish and chips the best I had for a long time! Massive fish, crispy batter, no oily at all, for £11 with nice pint, it's a steal! I love outside area on first floor.

We call in for breakfast once a week as its good value for money.

The atmosphere in all these pubs is terrible but the staff were on point, no dirty tables and a nice pint!

Been going to this place for many years food is OK drinks are a good price but the reason for my 2 stars is staff manager karl his attitude and professionalism towards customers is extremely poor and not acceptable

weatherspoons claims to be a family friendly restaurant most members of staff I would say are very nice and polite and children friendly. this is a very recent incident we go in weatherspoons quite regularly some staff are great but 1 manager in particular seriously needs more training in hospitality and management. we go in with our 2 year old son who loves people and loves to say hello there's always an adult with him yet apparently last night a burger was nearly dropped on my sons head bearing in mind an adult was with him. so instead of karl (manager) or Mark (manager) coming over and having a quick word they decided they would stop all Service for whoever was with me upon me speaking to karl who was extremely rude and wouldn't give me his name I then spoke with Mark and explained rather than embarras customers wouldn't it be easier for someone to come and speak to me and allow us to enjoy our night. I will be speaking to head office as I would love to see the pretend footage of the burger nearly falling on my son and the 2 individuals involved disgusting behaviour from 2 managers....

I called in the Ashtree last night. I saw customers who were patiently waiting to served being ignored by some bar staff. A male bar tender went to serve a lady who actually pointed to other customers and said they're before me. He knew that but totally ignored what she said and served her. Several Customers then walked out of the pub in disgust. This pub has a reputation for blanking some customers. Staff have told me this and I've seen it.

Been a number of times always busybut you get great service from the staff,food and drink prices excellent,without doubt value for money.

A good Wetherspoons. Prompt well cooked food, pleasant cheerful staff. Good beer selection at excellent prices. Seems quieter now nearby car parks have gone up in price although still a good through put of customers.

IT IS WHAT IT IS NOT THE BEST!!!!

Went on a Tuesday late evening, food was still cooked to an exceptional level. Staff were friendly and very welcoming, with warm smiles. Atmosphere was relaxed and quite calming. Especially for a person with social anxiety, overcoming agrophophia. Highly recommend.

Best 'spoons I've been in... and believe me I've been in a lot !

Wetherspoons are great places for cheap and cheerful food and drinks. It has a lovely conservatory where you can see outside but stay warm. Has a lovely beer garden for warmer days. There's plenty of seating and the place is clean.
