We went in for family brunch and I have to say we won’t be coming back to our local cafe sadly. We ordered drinks that partly came one order was close but not what we asked for and another drink did not come at all. The food I had a breakfast that did not have beans on what I thought was weird so it was all dry but fine I guess, all the food was warm ish but not hot. Sourdough was burnt and potato hash was cold and oily not good at all. All the eggs where over cooked, feels like they don’t care anyone just get people in throw the food out and get them out ready for the next people. No one checked on us or asked if we where doing ok, no one said hello or made us feel welcome when we came in just a waitress yawning and a male chef in the kitchen who kept touching his face and mouth. It’s sad as a while ago this place was a real gem now it’s really not so sadly we won’t becoming back, guess we will have to find a new local cafe near by!

The worst experience in our lives! Chef off? BUT they (two staff members) offered bacon or sausage toasted sandwich. There were 7 of us (all family) table was for 6 so the next table was for 2 therefore that table was pulled up to the table for 6 to enable us all to sit together - it was moved approximately 18 inches. The female person in charge shot over and said if we pulled the tables together we would have to pay a 10% surcharge for using two tables! Need I make any comment about this!- The table was moved back to the original space which was 18 inches away! The order was not complicated given they were only offering the bacon or sausage sandwich - but it was wrong on two occasions - this resulted in us being over charged in the final bill. We had a mixture of coffees and teas - We asked why no saucer for the CUPS and was told the CUPS didn't come with saucers so the teaspoons were put straight onto the table tops which were sticky with sanitiser. By the way they do not do vegetarian options. The tea for two came in one measly pot with two cups (no saucers) and no hot water. Do not recommend - will never every go there again. There are lots of other cafes in the village and The Oxton Bar and Kitchen is great too.

My friend and I decided to go out today to oxton village after her isolating for over a year with covid taking place. She was very apprehensive about going out at first, she was quite nervous and anxious .But we decided to go for food in our local pub and we’d had 2 drinks before we visited home brew. As we arrived the young bar tender quietly said to me at the bar that he would serve us only one drink each, but no more after that as my friend appeared to be drunk. If this was his analysis on the situation then he shouldn’t of been serving my friend at all. I personally have my own license so I know categorically if someone appears intoxicated then you wouldn’t serve them with alcohol full stop. So we refused his offer of one drink, and went over the road to another pub. But then he followed us in an told the bar staff not to serve us in there either. He publically humiliated my friend and was bang out of order. So anyone who is looking for a local friendly pub- I would steer clear of this place. When we challenged him on his assumption of my friend- he was rude, patronising, and humiliated her. Contradicting himself, and was down right nasty. Maybe home brew should re - train their staff on their behaviour and customer serve skills and on how to treat their potential customers in the future. Distressful!!!

One of the things I'm looking forward to most when lockdown ends is going to Home for a full English breakfast. These guys have kept us going through lockdown with their takeway coffees though. The manager here is lovely and friendly and although they're not able to do regular service at the moment, thought I'd leave this review to say thanks. Look forward to returning here for a proper meal soon (hopefully!).

Called for 2 takeaway coffees. Had to have extra shot because the quality of the coffee is very weak. £8.40!!! outrageous prices. I questioned the price with the server and she said it was correct. I thought these places where getting tax relief at the moment clearly not passing this on to the customer. Probably wouldn’t mind so much if it was decent coffee. Never again

Visited for breakfast on a Monday morning. Cafe quite quiet, unsure if that usual for time of day. Plenty of options to choose from, we had pancakes and eggs royale. Portion size very good, possibly a bit too big! Prices a little high but it’s a local business and we were happy to visit. Seem to be doing takeaway food and drinks too.

Sorry, but there is litlle point in customers sanitizing our hands if you run a grubby cafe. The lamp shades above the tables have thick dust that could fall in the food and have splashes of food on them, the skirting boards are filthy and the seating upholstery button holes are full of crumbs. You need to get back on your game. Sorry, but needs saying.

Have had a couple of meals at Home. The Cafe is pretty soulless with bare walls and metal chairs. Menu is typical cafe food but a bit pricey. However, the food is okay. Service could also be improved upon. Haven't been since a tacky mural was painted to the side wall. Really brings the tone of the place down.

Worst cup of coffee we've ever experienced. Despite returning drink to counter for an extra "shot" the drinks still had no taste, just like two cups of hot milk purporting to be an Americana and a Cappuccino. The coffee at McDonalds is 10 times better at a third (at least) of the cost.

This place looks very trendy and welcoming from the outside and the menu reads very well. They really should invest in some barista lessons because the coffee was unremarkable and the skill was unapparent. The only thing the distinguished my flat white was the size of the cup.Eggs royale and florentine was tasty however better presentation wouldn’t go amiss. The waitress also didn’t tell us about the specials, which we only saw on the board as we went to the counter to pay - it’s a shame as the special sounded good and I would have ordered it.In the fridge behind the counter I could see cartons of cheap concentrated orange juice - people expect better from independents charging these prices nowadays. This place is fine but some small details could make it better.

Came here with family for a quick lunch, which turned out to be a long lunch as service was slow. Ordered pot of tea for 4 which took over 10 mins to arrive. We ordered pancakes, French toast , some bbq chicken sandwich and poached egg on toast.Firstly the pancakes tasted like they have been fried in the same pan as bacon or sausage so it was bitter and salty, French toast was ok, bbq sandwich was edible. However the poached egg which is an easy meal to make turned out a disaster . First portion sent out eggs where hard and toast was soggy and tasted of vinegar. Inedible. Sent it back and they offered to replace it. So I waited , this time toast was lovely, egg yokes where slightly runny however the egg white tasted of vinegar bitter , actually made me gag. Horrible. For the price charged the whole meal was over priced for the quality of food provided. Staff where nice and pleasant though and the cakes looked delicious. Tea was nice . Don’t think I will return but others might like vinegar on their eggs .

I revisited this establishment for breakfast during a recent visit to the Wirral. The place was fairly busy though my 2 friends and I did manage to secure a table. I ordered the brioche toast with maple syrup and a cup of tea. The young waiter attending our table had to twice return to clarify the drinks my friends had ordered which was rather amusing but somewhat disconcerting. The food arrived and was exactly as described. Lightly toasted brioche with a sprinkling of icing sugar served with a measure of maple syrup. A nice alternative to the traditional English breakfast. Relatively peaceful, the environment lends itself to a stress free escape from the pressures of everyday living

Went here on a very cold, wet and windy Saturday. Got a table easily (but that may have been down to the bad weather!). Decor is great, heating not so much - sat at one table which was too near the door and we felt the arctic breeze every time it opened, then moved to the 'conservatory' bit which was too cold, then moved back to a table in the main bit. I think in normal weather conditions and in summer it would be great. Staff were lovely and the food was all great. Some people have said overpriced but I think it's fair for what you get Some people have mentioned the coffee not being good - I'm not a connoiseur but it was pretty ok. Arrived 10.20am Sunday for breakfast to find the place 80% full. We got a table for 2 with no wait. We didn't get to an order as the waitress sympathetically told us before any other welcome, 'there's a 40 minute wait for food'. Unless there had been a malfunction somewhere you'd have to wonder why a small cafe cant serve an 80% full service without a big delay. There was only 1 waitress visible, maybe staff numbers contribute in the kitchen too? Anyway, a missed opportunity given its a lovely sunny Sunday morning. Won't try it again incase delays are common, plenty of places just as good

It has to be said that I have never tasted such awful coffee. I mean really terrible. Tasteless. The owner should either change the name of the establishment or buy in good coffee and, here's the thing, trian your staff how to make coffee! If you in anyway like good coffee do not go here. Also, not sure that it is a good idea to have tables directly in front of the toilets. You can see right into the toilets when the door opens and of course then you experience the odours....

A usual Home truly dissapoints. The service in here is so slow. We arrived on an average to busy Saturday morning. Order a tea and a coffee which took 20 mins to arrive. Then breakfast took another hour to arrive (bacon pancakes and poached eggs on toast). There's never an apology for how slow the service is and I think it could be done on purpose so that people order more drinks. We watched while everyone around us got their breakfast and couldn't help but think that the rowdy group of men were served well before us to get them out the door quicker. One was walking up and down Home asking people 'what they were having for breaky' and should have been asked to leave for making everyone feel uncomfortable.Eventually my toast and poached eggs arrived cold, but I couldn't be bothered to say anything as it would be dinner time before a new batch arrived. This was my first visit to Home Oxton after visiting their Liverpool One cafe when that was open. My visit to Oxton was more positive than my last visit to Liverpool. We were attended to fairly swiftly and told that there was a 20 min wait on food, which seemed fair enough given that it was pretty busy in there. I ordered the pancakes with bacon which were served neatly and pretty much spot on 15-20 mins after we'd ordered, as we'd been warned. The selection of soft drinks is pretty underwhelming - would be good to see some more interesting options on this front. Not the greatest value, either, particularly when you take into account that card payments are only accepted on a £10 minimum spend. I can understand why this is necessary but £5 minimum seems more common. So be aware of that as it's a faff when you don't have alternative means of payment. Otherwise an overall positive first experience of Home, and I would return.

Unfortunately, despite a wonderful breakfast this visit was disappointed by the fact that Home advertise their fruit beverages as "fresh" but in reality are no more than cheap fruit juices made from concentrate. This would be fine if they didn't mislead customers into thinking they were freshly prepared or if their prices represented this cheap alternative, in reality they charge an arm and a leg for what is a rather average 25p carton of concentrated orange juice - on display for customers to see. Fresh orange to the customer is juice made NOT from concentrate. Home should sort this low quality embarrassment out.

All 6 of is sat to hopefully enjoy a breakfast as we had heard great reviews and it seems busy when we had passed. We couldn't believe the price of items on the menu!!! I know Oxton is expensive to shop, drink and eat! But the price for a piece of toast and a bit of jam, with a small pot of unimpressive tea is disgraceful. I fully support the local shops up there as i live in the village, and i know the food is locally sourced. But its doesn't mean you should charge over the top prices. If anyone wants a good breakfast in a comfortable environment where you can relax and chat this isn't the place. The staff were wonderful thats the only saving grace!

Everytime we go to home, we always have a bad experience in one way or another. Why go back you're asking? Well because they're a local business and want to support them but they just don't do the little things well.On this occasion, we ordered 2 x coffees and 1 x breakfast. The coffees arrive, half full and we waited and waited and waited for the breakfast. 40 minutes later it arrived. We were told it was late because someone had to make pancake batter although we didnt even order pancakes? Then when we paid, it was late because it was all made from fresh? Apart from the delivery, the lack of customer service from the waiting on guys, the place was freezing with a hefty draft coming from the door. Unfortunately, this is only one of a long list of poor experiences and yep, despite us saying we'll never go back, we will in the hope that these guys get it right one day.

I often meet friends here for coffee. It's a bit expensive if you eat a meal there, but the atmosphere is good and the staff are very friendly. I'd miss it if it wasn't here. The cake is always good too, but that's my guilty secret!

Sandwiches were absolutely beautiful and staff were very friendly. Coffee wasn't the best but I would definitely go back and try again.

Place is always busy and heard was good. When i went I felt that the tables and chairs werent set up very well and most of the chairs were and looked very uncomfortable! Menu is limited and didnt have the wow appeal. When my meal came it was okay. Drink okay. I guess it had a good atmosphere but for the price and food quality I wont be returning. Also supporting and softer chairs would have helped the experience.

Love the ambience of this little eatery however the prices and wait time really let it down. Unfortunately everything is very overpriced. 1 slice of unbuttered toast (butter yourself) was £1.60!!Two pieces is £2.60 of which you could buy 3 loaves of bread. Most of the menu is extremely overpriced- if you compare the portion size, menu choice and prices to say high end places on the Wirral it makes you realise the little value you are getting. National Trust properties are even cheaper! Also with only one chef, the wait time is almost always half an hour or more even for a bacon sandwich. Sad to say I don't think i have been in where I haven't heard someone complain.Hopefully these things can be improved upon as I'd love for it to be a regular. However ATM it just disappoints me everytimd.

1. Staff had no idea about ingedients in food.2. We both ordered soup and a coffee, coffee arrived after 10 minutes and 15 minutes later soup was still not there. I'm not sure what takes so long when heating up 2 portions of soup? After 35 minutes waiting we asked for the soup in takeaway cups as my girlfriend had an appointment to get back for. And whilst stood at the till it became apparent what the problem is. The staff just seemed to float about and seemed unable to actually get a task done. They where very put out that we had asked for our food to takeaway and never once apologised for the inconvenience. I have 2 suggestions, get all the staff anf managers to some good customer service training, and then get some training on how to apply that in the food service industry (Try Ramsay's kitchen nightmares) AND of for some reason there is a long wait on food, say more than 20 minutes, tell the customer at the point of ordering in order to manage expectations. (That's you first bit of customer service training right there)Overall avoid, unless you are1. About to die from starvation (you still might)2. Are happy to wait all afternoon for a very food and poor staff!

I have been here twice, once for breakfast, which was nothing special, and another time for tea and cake. Ok so the breakfast, this was ok, not anything massively impressive about it. I thought it was overpriced for what it was, i suppose with it being in the village perhaps? The cake i had tasted stale, i wonder how long they are there for and if they are put in the fridge overnight? If you were in the village, then fair enough, i am not sure i would make a special trip to visit?

'Home'is found in Oxton Village, a leafy little corner of Birkenhead, quaint cottages and bohemian looking people with pony tails and waistcoats and leather wrist bands, well, not everyone, so Home, a fairly modern look outside and inside serves excellent food and coffee, friendly service and lastly, the prices, £5.55 scrambled egg on toast! You choose.

Lovely little restaurant on a quaint village street, friendly professional staff In a well kept modern setting. its not cheap and i wasnt fed fast, but my food was exactly as it should be and had plenty of flavour regardless of its simplicity. Mocha late was absolute perfection and i loved the thick cream topping, ready to drink immediately as it should be, something you dont find every day since almost all costa/starbucks baristas never achieve this, i had a scrambled egg with salmon on toasted wheat grain bread. Thick farmhouse cut, medium slice fresh salmon and some of the best scrambled eggs ive ever had, beautiful texture with nice coulor and booming with flavour. Nice light menu Definitely a returning customer if i get the chance. My only suggestion is the butter in wraps came soft and slightly melted. Not the end of the world but it left my fingers greasy opening them.

Home is a great little place with warm and welcoming atmosphere. There is beautiful little garden out back that catches the sun. The cakes are amazing. The bacon, pancakes and maple syrup is my favourite. A must visit place.

Having been visiting Home in Oxton for some time now but not since refurb. I took my two sons over half term for brunch and was delighted with the open space which they now have rather than cramming tables in every available space which it did feel like previously. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, but not overly so, and took our orders within a few minutes of our arrival. I ordered the French toast with bacon and maple syrup. My sons both ordered pancakes with maple syrup. The French toast ,using brioche bread, was light, sweet and utterly delicious. Neither of my boys could finish their generous piles of pancakes and both agreed they were excellent. I'm looking forward to the summer holidays and another brunch date with my boys !

So after a BIG night out on the wine my friend and I decided to go and have some breakfast - well, I say breakfast, it was roughly 1pm... Anyway! We really wanted a greasy-spoon type breakfast but without the grease.. impossible? Not if you're in Oxton! Home has been a regular choice for coffee and cake, and I do love the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs <3 so it was a no-brainer to go there. To my surprise they had added sausages to the menu! BOOM. Home breakfast is what I want. We didn't wait long, we had coffee to try and sober us up (it was a wild night!) and the food was just divine. Sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash, black pudding, tomato and toast. A lovely, calming atmosphere with friendly & attentive staff. Somewhere for family, couples, friends, business or just a quiet drink alone. I'd highly recommend going there. If it's a little out your way, there is one at Woodside Ferry Terminal too, which I've been to and received the same standard of food and service.

I wrote a review of an awful visit nearly 3 yrs ago and vowed never to return. 2 weeks ago I reluctantly decided to give it another try.The service was really good, the new menu was great and the breakfast I had was delicious! The girls in there were all attentive and helpful. I believe that credit should be given where it's due and those big enough to give criticism should also be as quick to praise. This was a fab visit and I'll definitely be back!

I have visited Home in Oxton several times and have had very few complaints. The fact that we have returned so often says it all. I don't know if they have a new chef but our breakfast last Saturday was outstanding. I had Eggs Royale and it was deliciously lemony. My husband had the full breakfast and particularly enjoyed the homemade hash potatoes. Definitely worth a visit!

Been here a handful of times and have always had a nice meal. The food is lovely and reasonably priced, I'm personally a fan of the Rarebit hot sandwich with ham, it's gorgeous! They do lovely milk shakes and the coffee is lovely too. The staff are delightful and the place has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Worth a visit :)

We ordered a vegetarian cooked breakfast & it was absolutely delicious. Two fried eggs, large succulent mushrooms, juicy tomatoes & fried potato with toast. Perfect dish for a cold day. Staff very friendly & helpful. Nice environment, atmosphere & good drinks - my extra shot Americano rich & dark - just the job to get the brain cells back in functioning order. We came here a few months ago with parents for cake & coffee & that was a nice experience too. Thanks to staff for their warmth & attention to detail.

Walking around Oxton village we commented that mid morning Home was really busy, always a good sign and as the small table in the window came vacant just as we walked in our timing was great. We watched the world of Oxton pass us by while enjoying a really nice coffee. The lunch menu looked great and it is obviously well supported. Worth a visit.

My last visit a few years back with my family left much to be desired regarding the food quality. However, today's experience was utterly different. I enjoyed lovely fish and chips, featuring a generous portion of fish and crispy and hearty chips. The service was pleasant, and witnessing your efforts cleaning an already immaculate-looking establishment was pleasing. The staff was courteous and amiable towards my grandson. We would not return we could not all have breakfast at the same time so could not eat with our daughter, husband and grandson. Could not eat at the times we wanted it was very short staffed and food items not topped up as they ran out so constantly having to ask for things like milk, butter, bread ,juice etc on the last morning the sausages were not even cooked properly it was a right fiasco we would not return here again.

Mysterious, Quirky, Intriguing and most certainly very original and different. Whilst the Fort Perch Rock as a fort is closed to the public, the Cafe Eatery inside and open air and along the ramp is open and worth trying out. The Cafe is atmospherically dark like the bowels of a ship but quite an experience and the food menu is very reasonable. Be brave ..... and visit .... just for an experience.
