A really disappointing experience. My friend and I had a wonderful concert booked and wanted to get a nice dinner afterwards but in hindsight, I regretted booking this restaurant. Although the restaurant looks good, the food was really underwhelming. I ordered the Katsu chicken curry and chicken had no salt. I had to try and salt it to make it better. Even after that, it was still underwhelming and definitely needs more seasoning. My friend ordered the two types of sushi and left most of it on her plate. We thought about packing the food for her partner to have later but then we were informed they had a no take away policy which is wild in this day and age. The only thing we enjoyed was the popcorn halloumi but for the amount we spent, we truly felt there was very little value for money.

This is the second time ive been here and been disapointed , wont be returning. I was treating my elderly grandparents to breakfast as they used to love coming here a few years ago but sadly we were all unhappy. We ordered 3 small breakfasts which they definitley live up to there name . The sausages tasted like plastic and the bacon was so chewy and cold. Two of the breakfasts came out luke warm and only one at a good temptature. My little girl also got an ice cream and shes only 2 so i said can i have a small cone and the the waitress clearly doesnt understand cause she piled up this ice cream and unfortunately half of it was wasted as she couldnt finish it not surprising at all. Such a shame as the garden centre is amazing and worth a visit , just a shame the cafe isnt. Wont be returning.

We waited about 10 mins for fish to be cooked at lunchtime. Whilst waiting, I noticed the pies looked a bit pale. Ordered small and large cod with large chips. Initially we were impressed with the size of the large portions, the chips could feed 2 people but the fish turned out to be heavily battered. Also the fish itself is over-salted, so the taste was not great, plus there was a lot of oil pooling from the fish which you don't normally see. Vinegar tastes of nothing. However the curry sauce was mild and better than expected. They gave us several forks and napkins for free. Service was fine, business is cash only. If I returned to New Brighton I'd probably try the Seaside Cafe a few doors along instead.

We had been warned it got very busy so had booked a table. When we arrived it was already packed so had high expectations! Sadly we were very disappointed. The service was poor and the food was not good. My wife chose fish and chips ‘because you can’t mess that up’ but struggled to eat it as it was swimming in grease. The mash with my Cumberland sausage tasted like Smash made on a camp stove by my mother on camping holidays in my youth! Not a good recommendation 😂. There’s very little choice of establishments locally so they have a captive audience so I guess little motivation to drive improvement

Called in for a light lunch. We sat outside to take in the lovely views, as the weather was lovely. We chose baguettes, cheese and chutney and prawn with marierose sauce. Well presented with a green side salad and skin on fries. Well filled baguettes. With a couple of cokes, £21 Good value.

Went for afternoon tea. Lovely venue and pleasant staff but the Afternnon tea was dissapointing, the single very lonely pig in a blanket was nice..but no sandwiches, little bits of fancy coloured cakes. No nutritious value. Not my cup of tea i'm afraid and had to go looking for somewhere to eat after we left. And £60 for the experience☹🤣..that is 3 exellent afternoon teas for 2 at our local cafe still in the lakes!.. but it is the lakes after all...££££££££££££££££££.

Why oh why can't you put a V sign on vegetarian food? I know you have a vegan menu (there is a difference between vegan and vegetarian, just lazy to have just vegan and think it will suit vegetarians). All menus should have V signs and also there is no mention of food intolerances, gluten free not mentioned either. On a sunny day there is outside seating but not one sun umbrella so too hot to sit out in bright sun. Noisy radio playing inside too, sad as this place used to be good and lovely environment. Won't return.

PLEASE WEAR GLOVES or use a napkin to pick up cones and touch the chocolate flakes! The assistants handle cash then we watched them pick up the cones and the flakes not washing her hands. Hygiene first please then we can enjoy our Ice cream! Such a lovely little place and beautiful village.

The pub was very busy in the bar and pretty busy in the restaurant. There was a very faint smell of bleach which was slightly off putting. The lights in the pub are the main problem for me personally as I suffer migraines and whichever seat you sit in you are faced with a bright light in your eyes. The lady that served us was absolutely lovely and extremely busy, she didn’t take long to serve us but she seemed to think she did and she was very apologetic, she was very professional. The food was well presented, the salad was lovely and fresh but the lasagne could have done with a few more minutes in the oven. I was asked if everything was okay and said it was so it’s my own fault it didn’t get heated slightly more! Overall it was reasonable and a good price for what we had. I will return but not for a while until I have forgotten about the lights!
