Why oh why can't you put a V sign on vegetarian food? I know you have a vegan menu (there is a difference between vegan and vegetarian, just lazy to have just vegan and think it will suit vegetarians). All menus should have V signs and also there is no mention of food intolerances, gluten free not mentioned either. On a sunny day there is outside seating but not one sun umbrella so too hot to sit out in bright sun. Noisy radio playing inside too, sad as this place used to be good and lovely environment. Won't return.

After a good walk along the beach at Thurmaston beach all we craved was a big brekkie and this place did not disappoint.... first and foremost they are fastidious about track/trace, cleansing and very Covid secure. Having then been shown to a seating area service was fast and efficient....the coffees came in big mugs and we went all out on the big farmhouse breakfast.....yuuuuuuum DELICIOUS probably up there with my favourite breakfasts.... probably as good as my own and to mind that is praise indeed....the poached eggs were perfect, bacon crisp enough and sausages very meaty. The staff are friendly and nothing seems too much trouble....in addition to all this they ARE doggie friendly in certain areas. Will be back!

We visited today for lunch. We were greeted by very friendly staff, the decor was lovely and the view was amazing and it has such a welcoming atmosphere!! We had lunch, jacket potato and a beef sandwich. The presentation was impeccable, the portion sizes were very generous and it all tasted delicious! I believe the chef likes everyone to go home full. I am gluten free and the chef came out to speak to me and assured me they could accommodate me with whatever I wanted to eat. Amazing, I've never had that before, which made me feel like I was normal and not an inconvenience. They have quiz nights, live music and even children's craft days!! We would highly recommend and befinately

I visit The White Owl last week with two friends, one of which is a regular customer. The last time I visited was in the summer 2019 and I told myself I would NOT be returning due to very unpleasant and poor management and what seemed to be unhappy staff. But over the holiday period my friend had visited again and informed me that the supposed manageress was no longer there, so I decided to give it another go. On arrival we had a very warm welcome and I automatically felt a different atmosphere. The staff were nothing but helpful and assertive and seemed to be a lot happier in their place of work. We had hot drinks followed by sandwiches and fries, both being simply beautiful presented and tasty. I can honestly say this may be a hidden gem but definitely worth the visit and under new management such an enjoyable and friendly place to spend an afternoon. We sat in the window and had a stunning view of the welsh mountains. I will with out a doubt be returning here Thank you very much to Helen and Kyle who looked after us on our visit. Patricia

We called in here for Sunday Roast Dinner. We were seated at a table with stools, we were then served our Drinks , fine the order was taken, great, one hour later we said were are our meals, oh dear he had forgotten to order them so 30 minutes later yes the meals arrived. Very nice, I had the nut roast the others the chicken. The chappie was so embarrassed he gave us 50 % off the bill. It was just one of those things as the saying goes. We will return again, the food and ambience was good.

Had to write this as other comments I’ve seen are shocking. We had a party of nine and everyone had something different. Party contained three coeliacs this was no problem as found out the chef is also a coeliac.Celtic burgers we’re massive and so tasty even had gluten free buns if needed. Roast turkey dinners of festive menu was also available as gluten free Yorkshire puds and gravy and pigs in blankets.Youngest member just wanted two burgers and chips minus the buns this was no problem at all.Fish and chips looked brilliant right texture and thickness of batter, no complaints as plate was empty.Deserts well seen a comment about no cakes, Really I saw on the menu offerings of about 6-8 cakes.Salted caramel brownies and gluten free fudge cake went down a treat. However my favourite was the Mississippi mud pie with cream.Portions were spot on not too mean and not too excessive, decoration and ambiance made it great for the meal everyone commented on how fresh and home cooked it was. The three coeliac members really felt impressed with the quality.Drinks served well and timely along with the food.I’ve had a few meals here and not once have had any negative experiences.I like my food and really Hope people read this review and give the White Owl ago its a GEM that should be supported as it caters for most food tolerances and is more personal then the high street restaurants you see.TRY IT!!!!!!!!!

Visited with an elderly friend for coffee and cake at midday. When we entered I asked if we could sit anywhere and was told yes...we had been seated about 5 minutes when a member of staff told us the table was reserved, so we gathered our coats up and I assisted my friend, who walks with a stick and is 92, over to another table. The staff member also seemed mildly irritated and said they were just finishing off breakfasts and there would be a delay with our order, I explained that we only really wanted coffee and possibly a sandwich and cake, but he still said there would be a delay. We had a quick look at the fairly basic menu, and decided on just coffee and cake. Their mission statement mentions home made food, so I anticipated lots of delicious cakes. I had a look on the counter to see what cakes they had...there was just lemon drizzle cake and mince pies. Quite a disappointing choice, we decided on a mince pie each. The coffees arrived, and it was very nice coffee, but I had nearly finished mine and there was still no sign of the mince pies. Plenty of staff were standing chatting behind the counter, but although I was only a few feet away, it was impossible to attract their attention, so I got up and asked about the mince pies. A minute later 2 very small, mediocre, dry, shop bought mince pies were delivered to the table on a saucer! Both mince pies on one saucer, no individual plates, no serviettes...very poor and unprofessional. My overall impression is that none of the staff have had any training in customer service, and we were made to feel a little bit of a nuisance. I couldn’t wait to get out! Big let down...they will have to up their game considerably, in both service and choice to survive.

Really disappointed with my visit today! And I really wanted to be writing a good review as this place was recommended! 3 of us arrived we were quickly seated at a lovely table by the window so far so good. Ordered a Pepsi max, tea, scone and a baked potato with pulled pork. The drinks come then the food two mouthfuls into the baked potato and it was rock solid that hare I couldn’t cut it with my knife. 3 of the waiting staff were stood behind the till chatting - no one looked in my direction until I stood up plate in hand to take it over to the toll area when one girl came over to me and i explained the problem. She apologised took it away and shortly afterwards a guy returned with a new meal. You wouldn’t believe that this potato was exactly the same as the first, I couldn’t work out of it was not cooked properly or very over cooked ‍♀️ either way I thought it was a joke.... couldn’t be bothered to complain the second time around so left all of the potato and just ate the filling and a little bit of salad... not once did anyone come over and ask if everything was ok, when I had finished we sat there for a good ten minutes and despite not being that busy no one came to collect my plate and ask how it was!!! Even upon leaving no one asked either. Such bad customer service and this is something that is so very important. It’s such a shame as I say I really wanted to enjoy this but sadly I won’t be returning!

But made to feel we were a complete inconvenience which was not nice at all. Lovely building. Shame about the food and the staff. Wouldn’t go again.Ways to improve would be better quality of food, more choice, easier preordering process for larger groups, area indoors or outdoors specifically aimed at kids. Had no alternative but too complainSausage sandwich is at the high end of a fiver and I ordered it with bacon from what I think are quite surly staff except for the new girl. The sandwich arrived was very small , one sausage cut in half that’s it , I asked about the bacon and it was whisked back to the kitchen , where a tiny price of bacon was added , I then said that it was a bit poor being only one small sausage whereby I was informed that it was incorrect and the sandwich again disappeared for ten minutes to have an extra sausage . The nice surroundings are let down by the meaness of the cooks and the food experience in general . The food is not represented by the prices charged .I will still go back. Visited on Saturday afternoon for lunch and a catch up. Unfortunately service left a lot to be desired. Several young people wandering around with seemingly no guidance. We had to ask for everything, from the table being cleaned when we arrived to our bill at the end Our food took a long time to arrive, when it did it was pretty good to be fair, but we were never approached to ask if the food was ok or if we wanted desserts. We could have walked out and I doubt anyone would have noticed. On asking for the bill we had been overcharged for our upgraded fries. When I queried this at the till the staff member with the green hair practically threw a pound coin at me, whilst I stood there bemused telling her that I had not yet paid for the food. She then turned away loudly complaining there were no teapots and left someone else to deal with me. Obviously we felt really valued as customers after this experience and we left doubting that we will return again. There’s much better places to go locally I wouldn’t waste your time or money here.

Three of us were out for a walk and arrived at the White Owl... it was busy enough and were seated inside... one had tuna mayo sandwich and two went for the pea mint falafel with chilli sauce... 3x lime and soda... If it had been excellent then £25 would have been fine... but in all honesty a meal deal from a supermarket has more spark... the tuna mayo was the safe option... the falafel wraps were a disaster and how anyone works out that a falafel wrap is worth £6.95 with what was served up is beyond me... there was hardly any falafel and certainly no sweet chilli sauce... when you balance that against the tuna mayo sandwich for £4.95 on fresh brown granary. I'd suggest that even Aldi's falafel is nearer the mark. £2 for a lime and soda... bit steep but could live with that if the food was good. Won't be going there in a hurry!

Went as we'd arranged to meet friends there. Only dog friendly if you sat outside right next to field full of rape seed spreading pollen into the air, and it was too chilly for us outside so as our dog wasn't welcome inside we had to leave him in our vehicle. Not really dog friendly in my book if you're forced to sit outside. Inside seating mixture of armchairs & tables. We all found it very noisy - music playing just a bit too loud, wooden floors with wooden furniture, no soft furnishings to absorb sound. We struggled to have a decent conversation. Coffee & cake was fine, but ambience lacking & we came away wondering if we all needed hearing tests as it was so noisy inside. Wouldn't bother to go again. Prefer somewhere quieter and canine friendlier.

I spent weeks, if not months, trying to find a place that would do Afternoon Tea for around 15-20 people without having a strict menu for my sisters baby shower. Everytime I asked about making alterations, I was told that with the amount of people coming this would be too much. Even after repeating that it was just one person, the very pregnant mother to be, who couldn't have dairy and so would need an alternative, no one was very helpful. I then came to The White Owl. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a young lad with a warm smile. I had previously messaged in via Instragram and he was very quick to go and fetch the manager, Zara. After a quick chat with Zara about what space was needed for the amount of people, she went and got the chef so I could talk about food. After a 5 minute conversation he was offering several different options for afternoon tea and what would we like as the dairy free option. It was all booked and ready to go within half an hour. On the day of the baby shower, Zara was happy to help us put up banners and told us to dress the tables however we wanted, if we needed anything she would be at the counter. We had a wonderful day, with only a slight hiccup with food as we watched the AMAZING chips go past us and regretted not asking for some ourselves! The cafe was occupied by a few groups of older ladies, probably in the 70 to 80age bracket. I thought the music was far too loud and aggressive particularly when trying to converse. I asked one of the staff if they could turn the music down but my request was ignored. I appreciate some people may like heavy rock, but this is not condusive to a ralaxed atmosphere. Upon entry we were met with loud music blasting from the speaker and screaching children where a 1st birthday party was being held! Really, is this the place on a quiet Sunday morning at 10.45 a.m. to hold a child's birthday when the average customers are middle aged folk? Shortly after, a young mother came bustling in with her large Silver Cross pram, setting the scene of what was to be. Hard to believe this is a café/restaurant in a beautiful part of the country and not a child's kindergarten.

We attended the first of a new monthly acoustic night at The White Owl. Lovely rural setting with plenty of parking, and a warm welcome as soon as we walked through the door. The cafe is spacious, very quirky, and spotlessly clean. It most certainly was the ideal setting for what was a really enjoyable evening of live music. Cafe was closed for meals as it was 7.45 in the evening, but there were delicious cakes on offer and also a good selection of hot drinks. Also a nice choice of wine & beers etc. Staff were lovely, especially the two young waiters who looked after us all so well, a real credit to the management. Looking forward to attending another night of music next month!

Came for leisurely coffee. Took a while to come and although ordered refills they never came do gave up. Manageress a bit intense. Tends to hang around and try and make conversation. Seems short staffed. Nice location should be recipe for success but it seems to just miss it somehow.

This eatery is a delightful discovery set in an exciting part of the Wirral Peninsular. The facilities are comfortable and varied, the menu caters for all tastes and the hospitality is second to none. A ‘must visit’ when in the area.

A perfect venue to sit back, relax, talk and drink. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Very easy to spend hours on the sofas looking through the many large windows across an undisturbed view of farmland.

Stopped here yesterday for breakfast when taking part in the Womens wirral celebration ride 2018 (35 milerl so we needed some fuel!(we are a cycle group from Prenton called Hope4all). Busy when we arrived. Staff very friendly(even dancing while working). Ordered quickly.nice smiley welcome. Bit of confusion over some of the orders as another group had ordered, sat outside then some of them went inside without informing the staff so not their fault. Food was lovely and hot. We had rearranged the furniture outside to accomodate our large group but they were pleased we put it all back. Will definitely be back and would recommend. Keep up the good work Zara and team x

We had a lunch here on a Sunday. On a nice day we thought it would be busy, but it was empty. We were brusquely told that they don't make iced lattes by a staff member who barely took time to glance up from her phone. The menu consisted of very limited items, and all with a fairly hefty price tag. We had what was advertised as a goats cheese tartlet. What arrived was a piece of goats cheese speared in between two puff pastry discs. Not a tartlet. The goats cheese wasn't cooked either.

Well what a pleasant afternoon we had when we visited The White Owl on Sunday. A nice variety of meals on the menu and all home made. Would definitely recommend the Moroccan Lamb and the Sunday roast. Nothing was too much trouble for the waitressing staff and everything was served with a smile. Also went and sat outside to enjoy our coffees in the sunshine. Can't wait to go back

Absolutely lovely place and a hidden gem in Thurstaston. Food was very nice and cooked brilliantly. I noticed some people had a problem with the time food took to come out but I was very happy to wait as I saw it was all cooked fresh and to a very highly standard. I would highly recommend The White Owl to anyone in the area!

It’s a truly chill out place with stunning views. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and go the extra mile to make the time spent there very enjoyable. The manageress is in full control and takes the time to get to know you and makes your time there extra special, nothing is too much trouble!! Sunday afternoon is very enjoyable when music is played by various great artists whilst you enjoy the wonderful ambiance. We will definitely return! Many thanks to all x

Today was my 2nd visit here. AND LAST. Manageress has a major attitude problem. Complete RBF. Not child friendly whatsoever. Took their time taking our order. Made it clear that a party of 4 plus 3 young children were not welcome. Had to ask 3 times for our order to be taken. Manageress finally came over, was completely rude and short when taking order, topped off by a sarcastic “Cheers!”. Meal was average. Not one friendly member of staff in the place, although hardly surprising with a manager like that who even slammed the door after us as we left. Never had service like it. Would never visit there again. Absolutely appauling. You need to revisit who runs your business.

The place is in a nice spot but it needs some decent staff. The only pleasant member of staff was a young girl outside in the ice cream stall. The young woman who was running the place was hostile and rude. More interested in socialising with her friends. She even slammed the door as we were leaving. The worst customer service ive ever had anywhere. Will definately never return. Genuinely appalled by rudeness. It was empty on a lovely sunny saturday. If u are in the area i would definately recommend either the other cafe by the country park or the one at church farm. Give this one a miss.

Arrived shortly after 11.30 on a Sunday at which point they begin a 45 min gap until lunch service starts, fair enough. We sat down and got a drink expecting to be able to look at the lunch menu, we were then told that on Sunday’s the only lunch option is the Sunday dinner. This isn’t mentioned on website or fb site. If it was it might save the looks and sarcy comments given when 2 diners left before we did as they couldn’t get food and subsequently ourselves. Even more annoying when you have 2 young children with you to get in and out of the car with one getting very upset that he couldn’t eat. Shame as the setting is lovely

I visited here with my parents as it was recommended to us by a family friend who had been here the previous week. The car park is quite gravely which I found to be a pain as I am in a wheelchair. On entering the cafe the tables are close together so be careful manoeuvring prams etc. We sat on the couches (can get out of my chair) just by the counter. They had music playing which was just in the background although didn’t think much of choice. I had a cold drink and my parents both had a warm drink. Mum and I shared a shortbread slice which was very nice. The cafe was clean and tidy nothing was left on tables for long. The manager was happy to hear my views relating to access etc so she could report back to the owner. I would be happy to come back here again.

This cafe is beautifully situated and the eating accommodation is fine but we were put off by the loud and continuous pop music, a trend for most hostelries these days. It irritated us to the extent that we couldn’t wait to leave. The food was ok and the view from inside superb. Just a shame about the intrusive music.
