My family of 6 decided it would be nice to meet up for lunch and chose The Pavilion as our venue. We arrived at 12:30 and there were a couple of tables of people in front of us. It was drizzling with rain and you have to queue outdoors, so not the best start. When it was our turn we were told all the tables for 6 were full. We asked is there a waiting list to which we were told no - you just have to wait or come back. As it was raining we asked when we should come back (as we thought a look around Shackleton would be nice) we were told an hour. So at 1:30 we went back and queue again to be told all the tables for 6 had filled again. So we asked can we get a table for 4 and a table for 2. We queued again and long story short - eventually around 2pm were allowed in the cafe and they put two tables together for us. Drinks order taken - great. Food order taken great (or so we thought). After about 45 minutes we were approached and told the tablet the order was taken on, had not sent it through to the kitchen!!!! Not so great! The order was then taken using good old paper and pen. To be fair we were given a complimentary round of drinks and our order was then prioritised and arrived within a reasonable timescale, given we all had something different to eat. Now on a very positive note the food and presentation was excellent. Good size portions, well cooked and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Once seated we were looked after by Andrea who quite honestly saved the day, she was very much customer focused and was a people person who wanted to give a good service. This was a complete contrast to the person who was managing the door and table allocation, who was quite abrupt and gave the impression that nothing was their fault and they could do no wrong. In summary, we can highly recommend the food but the system to getting to a table on a wet day just does not work. We all thought the Pavilion needs to rethink their waiting procedures. Invest in Restaurant Pagers and make a name list for tables or at least make a name list (not bothered they dont take actual bookings as I am sure people would let them down) but if you have arrived and are around and about it’s highly likely you really do want a table. Maybe even a tannoy system with a number being called when a table becomes available. I think they are also missing a trick, as if people had pagers or there was a tannoy then customers might go and brows around Shackletons and as a result some people might make spur of the moment purchases too. We also noted there were a number of elderly people queuing who were struggling to stand for such a long time and in the rain. We appreciate it was busy and they can’t control the weather, but with a little more thought and a slight adjustment here and there, our visit could have been be a much better experience.

Called in here on way home to Wales from Keighley, came in wrong door! met by two lovely young ladies who showed us to a table and took our drinks order. Lunch was an easy choice and we both had the small fish and chips. We didnt have to wait long and when the food arrived again served by a very friendly waitress we were not disappointed. Staff her are friendly and happy, food was resonably priced and tasted good, would recommend and if we are ever this way again will be sure to call in.

We have been coming here for years, and always looked forward to our visits. However, recently things have changed, but not favourably. No condiment on the tables, have to ask for extra sugar, coffee quality down graded, prices risen. All in all not the quality and value it used to be.

Called in on our way through the area this morning, last visited some years ago. The quality of food is still as good as ever, my wife`s poached eggs, were just right, the bacon muffin, was top drawer. It was early when we called, staff were on the ball, helpful & polite. The place is clean & airy, & reasonably priced. Will definitely be back soon.

Always been a good place for a Coffee or a more substantial meal. Recent small changes to the Operations by the new Manageress have vastly improved the Service and Efficiency, and it is now an even better place to visit.

We are regular Sunday breakfast customers. The recent changes seem weird! No sugar pot on table. It is served on saucer they presume we all want white sugar. We sent it back (how many times are these sachets to be handled )and I will use my own sweetners. No sauces on tables again backwards and forwards unnecessarily. Our usual friendly waitresses have to keep to one half of the room why?the staff have always been on top of things and we have always found things ran smoothly. There was a definite change in atmosphere not sure why. We are not opposed to change but only if it is for the better not for the sake of it. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon.

Went with 90 year old mother in law and had to queue outside in the cold for 15 minutes and then 10 minutes inside . I had to ask for a chair for her to sit on while queuing .. this is the second time and won’t go again. Staff totally disinterested and once at the table no one came near with menus etc until I went over to the counter and asked them to come to table. Still no menus ! Shocking service ! I have emailed Shackleton over 6 months ago about the same thing but still no improvement! Why on earth it is so busy is beyond me . Do something about the queuing system and service please as many of the clients are elderly !! Why can’t people queue inside is a mystery . They say it’s because of the toilets but that is an excuse as no one is around. We saw at least three couples join the queue and then leave . Please do something!

Coffee is lovely and the cakes too but the staff are just so disinterested. We have been regular visitors at this cafe for a while but every time we go (usually about 3.00pm) we have had to wait over 15 minutes for someone to take the order and even then they had to be beckoned over. The staff are pre-occupied cleaning tables and chatting behind the counter. It takes an age for someone to notice you when you walk in and once they tell you where to site they just leave you sitting there. On several occasions we have seen people walk out and have been on the verge ourselves many times. We have had enough and will not be going back, there are far better places to visit and be treated like a valued customer.

Just had lunch and we’re very disappointed to say the least,we had ham and Brie sandwich with a portion of chips, the ham was prosessed and wafer thin and the cheese was very tasteless,as for the chips well they were very disappointing too so all in all not the best lunch we have had. This cafe was always one of our favourites and have been going for many years but it seems to have changed and not for the better. We used to enjoy a cafetière of coffee and though it was still on the menu we were told that they had stopped serving them !

Luckily for us, the restaurant was quieter than usual so we managed to get a table! Specials menu was good and included new and interesting food. I ordered lasagne , swapping the garlic bread for chips without a problem. Food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. Peroni is lovely and cold! A great pint. Lots of staff, all very busy. enjoyed this place for lunch before. passed many other lunch places in our hour drive to go there for a light bite and a look round the garden centre. not too long to wait in the 'queue outside' system. our table was by the door. a group of ladies who lunch thought it fine to stand with the door propped open and this ploy maybe got them seated quicker. I was sorry to see browned stem lettuce on my garnish and was told 'it's all fresh' - truly? not in my book. offered another meal but a long wait. o.k. only garnish and it was more the way it was handled than anything that was disappointing. certainly not worth the drive for us. we'll leave it to the locals.

We go regularly to the Pavilion and are usually satisfied with our food. Yesterday however I had a small fish and chips which was swimming in fat and mostly inedible. What a disappointment after looking for a nice lunch. Think it must be under new management as standards seem to have slipped

We stood waiting to be seated whilst staff chatted in a huddle and failed to notice us. Staff came to clean tables within a few feet of us but didn’t speak or make eye contact? We eventually got seated and had barely sat down when someone tried to take the order before we’d even seen the menu. We asked for a couple of minutes and we were then totally ignored for the next 15 mins? It’s like the staff are blind or blinkered delivering food or clearing one table whilst apparently unable to see any other customer looking for their attention? The food was ok, the chips with the quiche were lovely, but the skinny fries that came with the croque monsieur were dry nasty and horrible. £8 for a basic prawn sandwich is very overpriced and £4.75 for a slice of cake is simply leg lifting! There are much better cafes out there with staff that actually know what they are doing

Visited on a sunny Wednesday, half- term week. Had to wait in a queue whilst a lady explained to other people in the queue about food, specials etc.. we only wanted coffees, surely, there should be an easier way of managing said queue, to get people seated and out if the way of other customers going into the garden centre. Anyway, we waited a good five minutes before a young man took our simple order of three coffees. Off he went, fifteen minutes later still no coffees, I asked a young girl waitress, if they would be much longer and got a curt reply of ‘ the coffee bar is very busy’ . We left without getting the coffees !! I know it was quite busy but nearly twenty minutes !!!

It's Good Friday so we decide to have lunch out so we set off with no place in mind, so we end up in the Ribble Valley when we come across the Pavilion coffee house and brasserie at Shackletons garden center. Being Good Friday all the world and his wife had decided to eat out and people were waiting for tables to become free, it was not long till we were seated in their soft comfortable seats

Me encanta largos veranos soleados, ¿no? Ah, se me había olvidado decir que hay una zona de juegos para niños al lado de la cafetería también, para la escalada y puertas corredizas.

My wife and I came across this quaint tea shop quite by chance, as it is on the outskirts of the village and laid back from the road behind a small cobbled forecourt. On entering we found it contained eight tables and quite busy for a Saturday afternoon. We ordered coffees and sandwiches which were made to order and absolutely delicious.I shall definitely return and tell my friends about it.Im not certain of the opening hours,so will need to check before I return.I thoroughly recommend it.

Spent an evening here with some friends, staying elsewhere. First up, it's uphill, and I mean uphill, to get here but the views and the service were easily worth it. Kaitlyn (really hope I remembered this right) properly looked after us. Thank you.

Great food, great service, reasonably priced. Would recommend. I ordered the ox cheek pie and husband ordered the fish and chips which were both lovely, being really picky the mash were a bit on the dry side, but I would still recommend.

This was not our first visit to the Calf’s Head but it has to be the best meal we have ever had. It was a large family gathering and despite the size of the party the service was friendly and efficient. Looking forward to a return visit, hopefully not in the too distant future.

I tried to order a full English breakfast without a few items and they wouldn’t swap me anything and tried charging me a extra 1.50 so I thought man 10er for my breakfast that’s a bit steep . So just got bacon and sausage baton and I got one bacon one sausage for 5.50 and to top it off it was cold and chippy sausage. Joke off a place will not be going again . And there is dogs running around in the kitchen
