We were given a very small table so asked to be moved , we were moved to a lovley room with a large table .the food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter / server SAM who was marvellous, we asked for chips which wasn’t on the menu, and he got them for us . He was very polite and knowledgeable ,as was our sommelier. I would 100% recommend The three fishes , the service was rather slow so we just got another bottle of wine 😂

Walked in after a 4 hour drive today, didn't know the place, never seen it before and just wanted a drink before driving again. The woman at the bar was super unhelpful and scowled at me the whole way through me ordering our drinks, for £16.40 for two pints i would have expected at least friendly service. I get it I was not in suit but does that deserve to be scowled at and made to feel super unwelcome. We finished our drinks and got the hell out of there as quick as we could. Will never return and have already told my wealthier friends and family not to attend this place

The setting was stunning and beautiful decor But that is probably the best thing I can say about this place and the cheese twist that is put on the table was nice . The front of house asked how he could help as we walked in then told us to wait while he sorted out something else The staff were not clued up on allergens on the menu and had to keep asking the chef, for these prices that is unacceptable The game they play about trying to get you to have more drinks doesn’t work when driving so please stop making people wait 30 minutes for a food menu . The starters were presented beautifully but the quality of the produce was below par chewy lobster . The main well this is was the icing on the cake A tampura spring onion what is this about ,stop it ! The fillet I had was cooked to perfection but tasted like sweaty socks was poor fillet this came with an shallot and red wine jus for £45 (over priced any ways) please put something else with this When my partner asked for some more water this never came as this was free I believe they didn’t care . We spent £180 including the tip tbh I would rather of had a Burger King. And before people say this person doesn’t understand fine dining I have done pretty much every Michelin star restaurant in the north west just moor hall to do so yes I do understand fine dining and this was not that

Lovely evening, staff very attentive. Food was very good, however all the items that were fried, (tempura lobster, posh onion bhaji, and squash fritters) were quite greasy and a little under done like the oil hadn't been up to temperature. The wait staff took on the feedback and apologised. It didn't spoil the overall experience and the rest of the food was excellent. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Three of us went yesterday (25th July) for lunch. We chose the 5 taster lunch menu and each course was absolutely superb. When booking Jack did ask was there anyone who had any food allergies which I thought was very impressive. I was gluten free and another had a nut allergy. They catered for us with the 5 taster course and explained to us what would be safe to eat and made amendments accordingly. All staff including the manager (I think) were all on their game that made it a wonderful experience. Cannot wait to return to enjoy a fantastic experience with a beautiful lunch the three of us thoroughly enjoyed. Well done to you all and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Fabulous setting and food was good. However, I didn't think the food was particularly anything special. I had scallops in tempura batter, the delicate flavour of the scallops was overshadowed by serving them on tartar sauce ( the sauce was lovely it just didn't compliment the scallops) and the batter made a delicate dish too heavy. The main course of fish, the fish, was cooked beautifully but the new potatoes slightly too 'al dente' and the full spring onion, again in tempura batter, didn't add anything to the dish. My husband had soup followed by steak. He did say that the steak, coked rare, was one of the best he had ever had. Our only complaint of the dish was that it didn't come with any extras such as potatoes or vegetables. So ordering a 'side' was a necessity. The side ordered was their triple cooked chips, which are huge and therefore quite dry on the inside but crispy on the outside. Overall , it was a pleasant evening and the staff were lovely but was the food memorable.. I would have to say no.

Date of eating there was Saturday 18/5/24 We arrived on time, we were offered drinks before or drinks at our table should we wish to go straight to our table. We decided to go through to our table and order our drinks. After an interesting and informative conversation with the sommelier, we choose our wine, and it was an excellent wine. Our first course arrived quite soon after our order had been taken, which was nice. The cheese breads and sough dough bread along with salted butter and parsley pesto, was very nicely presented and very tasty. After that the wheels started to fall off. Firstly we had quite a long wait, then we had the cutlery arrive and explained that our soup course was next and left us with a soup spoon, not to pick fault but the menu clearly stated that we were to expect the pea mousse with fresh asparagus. When the food did arrive it was actually the pea mousse, so we brought to the attention of the server that we had soup spoons, they offered to bring knives and forks straight away, however he was stopped by the head waiter and told “ they could eat it with soup spoons” so I went and asked the head waiter for the correct cutlery. The asparagus was simply too long to manage with a soup spoon and it would have been quite difficult to pick the food up with just a spoon. We had a quite long wait again, 15 -20 minutes. During that time the table immediately behind us called the waiter over to ask why they had been ignored for 45 minutes since the water had been brought to the table, he made various excuses, to no avail and they got up and left. The table opposite also called the waiter over and asked why they had not received their second course, after 30 minutes wait. When our Cherval soup arrived with a soup spoon!! The fennel pieces were to large to even go on the spoon and even though I have a big mouth (according to my wife) there was not a way to manipulate it into my mouth without getting it all over our faces. Quite spoiled the event. The flavour was really delicious. We quietly brought this to the attention of our waiter again. He said that he would inform the kitchen. While we were talking to the waiter we noticed that an other table that had come in after us were now on their desert course, we could not work out what was happening. The other couple had now received their soup. We now waited just over 30 minutes before our main course arrived which to be fair was very unacceptable. We had asked for the Roe deer with a side of Smokey purée potatoes. When our main course finally arrived we had to remind them that we ordered the side dish which we had to wait a few minutes for with our mains already on the table. When it arrived we were less than inspired by it, as there was no smokiness to the potatoes at all, in fact it could have been instant mash for the lack of flavour. We left it to one side to be honest as it was not worth eating. My Roe deer was cooked beautifully and presented in a stunning way. However my wives was what can only be described as burnt, not caramelised just burnt. We would of called the waiter over but we did not see one for a while, So my wife just left it to one side. We ate our meal and once the head waiter came over at the end of our main course we again quietly brought our concerns to their attention. They said that they would bring it to the attention of the kitchen. We waited for our desert, which did not disappoint at all it was a stunning strawberry soufflé. Overall it was a very disappointing experience, with shambolic service from the start to the very end, the quality of the food was at best hit and miss. Having been looking forward to a wonderful culinary experience by one of the best known chiefs Nigel Haworth. This could be a bad day, but I fear that the front of house staff are ill trained and we are left wondering what happened in the kitchen.

Good quality food with reasonable but no generous portions. Friendly but young and inexperienced staff. A tasty meal but overpriced and for 2 courses and no desert it wasn’t value. Also the bill came and we had been overcharged for several items. This was rectified as the till and menu were apparently not showing the same price per dish.

Visited on the 11/05/2024. Drove an hour to get here. Firstly took a considerable amount of time to seat us, we booked prior to arriving. We chose The Farm to Fork 5 course menu, we added 3 sides to this. After 2 hours had passed we had only had, breads, a cold mousse and soup. We asked 3 female waitresses how long our mains would be, each saying they’d check but no one came to reassure us they were on the way and no apology for the wait. Our mains finally arrived, although the female who took our order didn’t place our sides so weren’t cooked so didn’t receive them. We decided to leave without waiting for our Strawberry Souff as we had been sat inside on the hottest day of the year waiting for over 2 hours already and I’m sure this would have taken just as long to arrive. We were still charged for all five courses, we paid and left. After checking the bill again on the way home they had charged us for 2 Poretti that we never ordered or had that clearly weren’t ours. 2.5 hours, half a meal, still starving and the worst service we’ve ever received. All whilst entertaining a 1 year old. Would NOT recommend unless you want an awful day out.

Staff were lovely, food was excellent and had we been dressed appropriately we would have really enjoyed it but the menu's were limiting for a 'light bite' before attempting the hike. We opted for 2 starters from the multiple menus we were offered (again, amazing food and selection) and with the complementary freshly baked rolls which arrived on ordering, and the mini Eccles cakes stilll warm from the oven at the end (also complementary) we were satiated. One coffee, one diet coke and water. I'd fully recommend for a leisurely, luxurious culinary experience and will return in the near future

I’ve always loved the setting and ambience of The Three Fishes. Whether it be for friends or family. However this Saturday something was completely out of sorts - The food was quite basic, not as experienced on previous visits. The service was not very good ie drinks orders being forgotten, parts of the menu description on the plate missing, running out of butter for the bread. It was all a little bit too much. Nevertheless I’ve given a 4 star as my past experiences have been enjoyable and I understand that lack of staff or under staffing can also contribute to failures in procedures. I would still recommend and will return in the future.

Front of house - get your act together. Asked to take a seat in the bar area whilst waiting for our table, other drinks orders were being taken, we had to go to the bar. Bar staff utterly confused - a gin and tonic was beyond them. Rushed to our seats had to grab drinks, other tables were ushered to table and drinks were taken to them. Food was good, bit of buck shot in the game, lucky that didn’t shatter my teeth. Rushed from the table as we were eating our deserts, apparently the next guests were ready, once again had to carry our drinks from the table back to the bar. The Espresso Martini was the worst I’ve ever had, others were going to the bar to chase their drink orders. Over charged by £150 pounds, took close to 45 mins to work out I needed to chase up the manager the next day to work out the refund. Wine pairings were not explained, we had to ask for a menu to remind ourselves of the notes. At £100 pounds per head it fell short of reasonable expectations.

I wouldn't had offered to leave a review, but I've just had an email from the Three Fishes asking how my meal was, so here goes. I've been to the Three Fishes around 8 times since it re-opened. However the last two times I've been in the space of a month, it has been somewhat of a disappointment. I am leaving this review in the hope that someone will read it and improvements will be made, as I genuinely do want it to succeed. My first complaint is the speed in which the foods comes. We had to wait a very long time for the first course and when we ordered the wine flight the wine was served after the meal had been eaten. Obviously this was quite annoying. On this weekend's trip the food came sooner, but when we tried to order a glass of champagne at 8.30pm and was told they had 'run out', with no solution of what else was available. The staff are obviously short of some training as when our dirty plates were being cleared, a young waiter asked 'Is nobody eating that last chip' and then thrust the plate towards me and said 'go on' and I replied saying 'no thank you, perhaps you can have it when you get back to the kitchen' to which he replied 'yes i will'. Not the kind of exchange you expect from a fine-dining experience. In the toilets the towels to dry your hands had completely run out and were thrown onto the floor (as the bin was full) with more paper towel thrown on the floor also. When i paid the bill (£630 for 6 people) I was called 40 mins later to say they had forgotten to put the wine on the bill and could i return. When i went back and examined the bill, they hadn't charged me for the wine but had charged me for something I hadn't had at all. Which reminds me, when I tried to order another bottle of the same wine during the meal, I was told that had also run out of that particular wine too, with also no option for an alternative. It just feels as though the waiting staff are very disjointed, but the one saving grace of this place is Nigel's food, which cannot be faulted in any way which is what you'd expect for such a decorated chef. However, I won't be returning to the Three Fishes for a few months to give them chance to improve, after which I will try it again. So watch this space...

We have just had Sunday Lunch at the three fishes. 8 family members booked in for 2.30., 1 gluten free. Ordered meals two days earlier, even the desserts. Apology because gluten free was not exactly as ordered. Starters were served at 3.45, but we were willing to overlook the total lack of service as the starters were enjoyable. Main course came at 4.15 and the meals were average quality. My roast potatoes were so hard on the outside they couldn’t be cut. Two glasses of wine ordered had not appeared ten minutes into the main course and we were told the waiter had forgotten. We have had meals recently at Northcote and the Rum Fox and the Higher Buck. Service and food at all these three is far superior to anything we had today. We dispensed with the dessert course as it was by this time 5.00pm. We will not be returning.

The food took an hour to arrive, which we felt was rather excessive. As time went on, we were assured by the head waiter that our order would be next out of the kitchen. We then watched as seven main meals were served to the adjacent table... The food was tasty & well presented. The op will replace my bowel and I will have a stoma requiring to poop into a bag located in my tummy so having a wonderful meal is a wonderful gift to my stomach for serving me well for the last 59years. I digress, the chowder was wonderful, this is always one of my favourite starters but my friends had the salmon mouse also wonderful. My main was the sirloin, steak is always good whichever restaurant I visit, sorry for the vegetarians, but good on them for having the will power to help animals live a fruitful a d happy life, possibly well deserved. I know I don't have the will power! Freshly prepared veggies and roasties which I believe are farmed on the gardens behind the car park. For dessert I had the rhubarb crumble with ice cream but my.friends had the cheeses (a £7 supplement) but were fantastic, soft, hard a d blue plus my favourite Tunworth! To die for and we all shared with extra crackers. The chef, was phenomenal and extolled his amazing knowledge of the cheeses, a masterclass and enjoyable in his excellent ability to know the .Akers a d their methods of cheese making. He even provided us with where to purchase the wonderful cheeses down the road near Clitheroe, we'll all be stocking up our fridges very soon! An amazing Sunday dinner which after looking at the mid-week menu is even better for their daily menu which changes daily to suit the fresh meat, fish and vegetables their restaurant have delivered or home grow on the gardens surrounding them.

Me and my wife came to celebrate a job, and I remembered three fishes from when it used to be a pub, was a beautiful place even then. However, it’s since become a fine dining restaurant with the owner/chef being a highly qualified Michelin star level chef. This is to be some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of having and the personal touches was the cherry on top. From arrival a personal written note congratulating us, we opted for the seasonal menu which I would definitely advise anyone to do, and got the cheeseboard which once again I would advice to do. Every dish was utter perfection, and the little things, my wife was pregnant at the time so we had to be careful with the cheeseboard which the staff (and Nigel, the head chef) went out of their way to make sure of what cheeses she could have, and I’m not usually a fan of well done steak, however I had a try of hers (due to the fact she was pregnant she had it well done) and my God even that was beyond good! Words can’t put into context how excellent this place is, you simply have to try it! At the end of the evening Nigel even came out and visited the other diners and spoke with each table individually. We will definitely be coming here again.

Unfortunately the (very expensive) steak was not a good cut, way too much gristle (as agreed by the chef!) although perfectly cooked. No refund offered but free dessert provided. Also the price originally charged was incorrect but put right on query.

Staff were lovely and knowledgable. Decor sophisticated. Wine was good. Food was tasty on the most part but the portions on the three course menu were extremely small. Veggie options were limited with the main course being a replica of the duck dish without the meat.

An evening with Atul Kochhar Day 2. Firstly, all the courses were well-presented and cooked - the very least that should be expected from chefs of the calibre of Atul and Nigel. HOWEVER, we were very disappointed with the "wow" factor that should also be expected from Michelin standard chefs = there was not a single wow. It was just a very safe, very good restaurant menu but at a Michelin price. As for the dessert.. A brownie! Really, surely it's not unreasonable to expect something a bit more exciting than a brownie with a bit of mousse and forest fruits? Very lazy to be honest. Had previously thought about going to Atuls restaurants when next in Marlow but have reconsidered based on this offering. Dean and Janet Smith

Went for lunch on Sat 11th Feb, thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes on the 5 course lunch menu. Staff were all brilliant and looked after us from start to finish. The star of the show was the Lemon Meringue dessert. Would highly recommend a visit and can't wait to go back again!

What a treat we had today! Me and the Mother visited The Three Fishes and it really blew me away! Each course was exquisite and I really couldn’t pick a favourite. This has been one of the best foodie experiences I’ve had in a long time; from the super welcoming staff, to the very dog friendly atmosphere, we had an amazing afternoon. We will be back… very soon.

Wonderful, 5 stars isn't enough! I went with my husband for Boxing Day lunch where we had an excellent meal. The setting is lovely, we were lucky to be seated in a cozy room with a stunning old open fire. It was a set price menu with choices but there were plenty of options for my husband who is Coeliac. The staff are very good, there was always someone on hand if you needed anything. We enquired about one of the very tasty dips and the waitress brought a bottle of one of the ingredients from the kitchen to show us which was a lovely touch. The food was delicious, each course was beautifully presented and full of flavour. We had a very positive experience and will definitely return. Thank you

Unbelievably good. Michelin-Star quality without the price. The chef/owner even popped out to say hello at the end of service. Game ragu was to die for, superb hake dish which managed to include challenge flavours like hibiscus and still be one of the best fish dishes I’ve had this year, and a superb soufflé…and the value of the lunch menu was insane.

Booked for lunch on a whim and we’re glad we did - the 3 course lunch was delicious. The salmon starter was my favourite and my partner enjoyed his hake main. I wish we weren’t driving and could have had the wine flight. That said, the scenery was lovely and we enjoyed our drive up to York afterwards with full tummies.

A great place we stumbled on after the fireworks at the castle. The reedley hallows beer went down very very well. We had a nibbles selection amazing value at 4 small plates for £20. I had lamb rump for main and my wife had ahicken Kiev which she thoroughly enjoyed. No room for a pud, hopefully next time. Very attentive service, great food and reasonably priced. Will defo return very soon.

I made the 40 mile journey through the ribble valley to sample their famous steak puddings…absolutely delicious, the meat was just melt in your mouth, the rest of the food was fantastic, onion rings to die for !! Portions were huge, managed some of my sweet that was also superb, was literally bursting on the drive home but very happy indeed, highly recommended and the staff and service was also second too none, 100% will return again..thanks

We had our son's 21st at The Bistro Bar & Grill on 7th September 2024 and we can't praise the staff enough. Special mention to Mackenzie who did a sterling job.
