Could not fault our restaurant experience which involved celebrating a family birthday. We were a party of 12 including children. Diane and staff were courteous and helpful and the service was very good. Food was tasty and the bar service could not be faulted. Loved the clock room where we were seated and the restaurant/bar atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend The Eagle. Thankyou

Just eaten not impressed food edible but thats it & surprised as heard was good.....mash luke warm cheese pie runny/tasteless...hubby had butchers block also was disappointed.. gammon tiny piece less than palm of my hand & stringy just ordinary knife to try to cut both gammon /lamb cutlet just tsp of lamb rest fat..the rest was just ok but £22.50 not worth it at all, extremely noisy sat side by side on sofa couldn't chat as couldn't hear ..two kids running wild crawled under our table twice where our dog was to get through as another table in front had asked us taking 2 chairs leaving no gap to walk through when joining mates table. Served no checkback or on paying nearly £50 wasnt even asked at any point if all ok...no one interested!!! At least dog was happy!

We arrived 15 minutes before our booking and sat in the bar area. The table was not ready until 15 minutes after our booking which was a bit disappointing when we were dining with a 1 year old. We were also told as soon as we sat that there were no roast dinners left. They looked good seeing them on other tables and probably the best value for money of dishes we saw. The fish and chips and fish platter were also pretty good value for money but don't even go there with the surf and turf. For nearly £20 it arrived on a starter size plate with a hand full of chips on it, 4 thin slivers of steak and 3 king prawns. As standard it was served with one sauce and for an extra £2 you could upgrade to peppercorn sauce. I upgraded, my husband didn't. We asked for the sauces to be served on the side so we could both try each sauce. They both arrived with the sauce already on them (about a dessert spoon full on each - wasn't worth £2 on its own never mind as an upgrade option). Ordered sausage and mash for my 1 year old daughter which was £6.50 and a much better portion than the surf and turf. It was tasty. When we got to desserts there was no custard left, again a bit disappointing. And my husband wanted to order some more savoury food due to the very small main he was served but they wouldn't take an order for savoury only desserts. Overall the atmosphere was nice. The service was ok. The food was hit and miss. If you can get in for a roast dinner then maybe worth a shot. Management asked me to one side at the bar if my surf and turf was ok. I said I was disappointed especially with the size. He said "sorry about that" then he webt behind the bar. I will probably be back at some point as it's a local place for some of my family so will update with my next experience when I can.

We didn't eat, we had a couple of glasses of wine. it's a large place, plenty of diners and unusually lots of areas to drink and socialise. Most pub restaurants only encourage diners, not at the Spread Eagle and it's all the better for it! Definitely would recommend

The Eagle has an excellent roomy restaurant. However, the roast dinners we're served on cold plates, and the food was barely warm. The two men in our group had meals off the menu, which were served on what we considered side plates - very disappointed!

Food pretty good, had butchers block, and sticky toffee pud. The pud was as good as I have had anywhere. The real issue was the service, my sister ordered extra chips and veg, but had almost finished her meal by the time it came. Also from booking a 7.30 pm dining, it was 8.50pm before we got offered a dessert and the table cleared. Spoke to manager who wasn't at all apologetic and was pretty ignorant.. Probably won't go again due to service and management, shame as the food was better than most.

We went back to the Eagle on Xmas Eve because last year we were treated in a curtious and sympathetic manner with our special needs grandson. This year was a different situation. On arrival there was a conflict over the time of the booking. We thought it was 4.30 and the manager at reception said it was 5pm and because at this time the restraunt was empty we thought it wasnt a problem. He seemed to think it was and made us feel very unwelcome. It takes a lot of effort to get our grandson into a restraunt so this was not a good start. I have to give the girls credit who served us who were polite and understanding but the meal was not good. It was cold and very small portions. The toilets were not clean and broken glass on the floor. I understand the bar area was busy as it being Xmas Eve but the whole experience was an expensive let down

Booked our Christmas dinner her weeks in advance and I was very excited as we had just enjoyed an amazing lunch so thought we would treat ourselves and our children to a Christmas meal. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed it’s was over £100 a head with hardy and food on our plate. We were also placed in the bar area not in the restaurant area and when asked to move I was told there was nowhere else to sit by manager even though I could clearly see empty tables during our whole meal. But I have to say the young staff serving and waiting on the tables were very good and I could not fault their service. (Management could do with training)

Visit here often as we love the ambience, the staff & the food! It's reasonable value wise too & fantastic out on the patio on a hot sunny day (has a buzzy vibe). Only one fault, the last few times I have eaten here (quite a few in the last couple of months) the food has not been very hot! I don't want scalding food but sometimes it's been close to being cold (soup especially)! Apart from this, I highly recommend, we are actually booked in for nye👍 Thank you

Sunday special Lunch for my Mum, chosen for its previous good food and service, today was horrible my Starter BBQ ribs was overcooked so much that the bones were soft the three ribs at over £9 we’re no bigger that my fingers and lacking meat. Main course was good. My dessert arrived 15 minutes after Mum had finished hers they were very apologetic, I then got a bad taste in my mouth to find I was chewing on a cooked potato's. The wait was unforgivable as they had forgotten about me then to find the dessert had been served on top of a potato made me feel quite sick. They knocked £45 of the bill but Unfortunately they have lost our business for good.

Friendly bar staff and good food. 4 stars however, as when our plates were cleared I was asked why I’d left some of my meal. I’ve never been asked that before…… felt like a 5 year old. The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially Diane who went out of her way to engage with us and show myself and my 90year old mother around the restaurant, explaining how it had developed over the years. What a lovely spot, beautiful looking building in a stunning location. It’s so under managed it’s such a shame. The rude lady at the front of house should not work on hospitality she clearly doesn’t like people I can’t believe she keeps her job. It’s a running joke with the customers not to ask her for anything at the risk of getting your head bitten off. The area is family oriented but the management clearly don’t like kids. We go in a lot and signs keep appearing deterring people bringing kids. Without the family’s in there it would be dead. Bank hol was busy but it was probably the only place in the area with no music no entertainment. Someone who actually wants to work in hospitality should take over this place. Such a shame

Before 9pm the staff had gone home, the music was turned off and there was just one chap there, who clearly wanted to be off. We asked to order coffee but he said the machine had been turned off. It was a poor end to the evening and we felt rushed out of there. He took our soft drinks off our bill as an apology, but we don't manage to see each other often and just wanted to have a catch up - it was the time that was important, not the cost of the drinks. We met up here as a large family group and despite some of us being delayed the pub was accommodating and service was very attentive. We ate Sunday lunch and it was delicious with the best Yorkshire pudding! Desserts were also top notch. Highly recommend!

Always come here for lunch and tea as this is usually exceptional. We came about 2 weeks prior to this visit and my partner ordered the surf and turf and was delicious. However when we came yesterday I thought I would order the same but...

Called into after visiting an attraction 10 minutes away. So glad we found it after a quick google map search. With a tired 2 year old some pub staff would pull their face but here they were great and so accommodating. They brought out his good first and one he got stuck in his mood changed. The food for all of us was great and we couldn’t finish it. The service was impeccable and it was great to see a lively, upbeat pub/restaurant/inn doing so well. Plenty of others including our local could learn a lot from them. We also loved the resident dogs coming to say hello. Thanks for a great end to a lovely, sunny Sunday.

My wife and I came across this quaint tea shop quite by chance, as it is on the outskirts of the village and laid back from the road behind a small cobbled forecourt. On entering we found it contained eight tables and quite busy for a Saturday afternoon. We ordered coffees and sandwiches which were made to order and absolutely delicious.I shall definitely return and tell my friends about it.Im not certain of the opening hours,so will need to check before I return.I thoroughly recommend it.
