A really disappointing experience. My friend and I had a wonderful concert booked and wanted to get a nice dinner afterwards but in hindsight, I regretted booking this restaurant. Although the restaurant looks good, the food was really underwhelming. I ordered the Katsu chicken curry and chicken had no salt. I had to try and salt it to make it better. Even after that, it was still underwhelming and definitely needs more seasoning. My friend ordered the two types of sushi and left most of it on her plate. We thought about packing the food for her partner to have later but then we were informed they had a no take away policy which is wild in this day and age. The only thing we enjoyed was the popcorn halloumi but for the amount we spent, we truly felt there was very little value for money.

We booked spontaneous as we are from Birmingham and heard good things. Our waiter Manny was so attentive, fun and knowledgeable. The best server I have ever had. He smiled all evening and made our experience here one to remember. We have recommended firefly for businesses that we have links with. Thankyou so much Manny for the fantastic service! X

This is my second visit, I visited before and was disappointed. Gave firefly another chance and my experience was worse! Tonight they didn’t have any sashimi available at 5.45pm? Samosas soaked in oil and tasted like they were Asda’s frozen section, pork belly was fatty and tasteless. Sweet and sour veg I’m sorry this is a basic side dish and it was awful. Vodka pasta was £16 and again tasteless and under seasoned. No one asked us if we were happy or offered desserts. Food took quite a lot of time to come out considering the restaurant only had a few tables in. We couldn’t wait to leave. What a waste of money, we’re still hungry!!!

I have tried and tested the breakfast. I am very picky with bacon, has to be “my type of” perfect. I asked the server for crispy bacon and he was pleasantly happy to assist and make it for me. The ingredients were all fresh and full of flavour.

IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD! AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!! Travelled from London for a weekend in Manchester booked this restaurant 2 weeks prior, told restaurant of food allergy at booking completely fine no contact. We arrive at the restaurant told them of food allergy again, order our drinks and food to then be met by the manager who was so abrupt and rude, point blank refused me to eat in the restaurant for my allergy, was told to either leave the restaurant or watch the rest of my party eat without me, while he got up he then snatched my cutlery and plate from the table while leaving the rest of my parties cutlery and plates there. I have never EVER felt so discriminated against for my food allergy or spoken to by a manager so disgustingly nor have I ever been refused service in any bar or restaurant. We then agreed to leave after the way we had just been disgustingly treated to then see 5 days later they have charged us for a no show of £40 onto the card we booked with! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING COMPANY!!! Have reported the restaurant!!!

Thought I would try Firefly for Sunday Roast with a friend, had booked a table for 1.45, upon entering the venue it was not busy, but the welcome host was on a call, she did not acknowledge us at any point, and it took a good few minutes for them to finish and for us to be seated. Once seated a member of staff came over to take a drinks order and ask about any allergies which is a good start, after informing them of a nut allergy, they stated they needed to go and get a form and the allergen menu, they did not seem to have any of these forms, so it took some time for them to get another one printed off. The allergen menu came, along with a form which I was asked to sign apparently for my safety, I do carry an Epi-Pen, but never in any restaurant, travelling all over have I been asked to sign a form, of course I appreciated nothing in life is guaranteed, but this certainly did not appear to be for my safety, but rather to cover the restaurants own backside, not that this form would actually protect them from any action should a patron become ill, funnily enough the only item containing nuts was a dessert anyway. After being told that unless I signed the form, they would not serve me food, I did so begrudgingly, a few minutes later they came to take the food order, but we had still not had our drinks arrive, this is around 20 minutes after arriving. The drinks arrived, and they came back to take the food order, I ordered the Beef Sunday Roast and my friend wished to order the salmon, only to be told that was not available, most venues would inform their customers of items not available upon seating not at ordering, so he went for the vegetarian roasted cauliflower. To be fair the beef with my Sunday Roast was very good, but the sides were lacking in flavour and the roasties seemed like they had been kept under a hot lamp for a prolonged period, my friend was not overly impressed with their veggie roast. For dessert I had an Eton Mess which was fine and my friend the sticky toffee pudding which was also fine, at no point did anyone come and ask how the food was, see if we needed any more drinks or top up our water. We asked for a coffee and tea and this again took an age to arrive. Upon trying to get the bill, it was difficult to get anyones attention, one member of staff was chewing gum on the main floor, others were just chatting around the bar, another table actually got up to try and get the bill. I have a feeling this venue does not really know what it wants to be, flashy on the inside to try and get people to tag on the Gram, a mish-mash of food / cuisine, and massively let down by the service and attitude towards those with dietary requirements, safe to say I will be unlikely to return.

I gave Firefly a try with a couple of friends who were visiting Manchester as I was on a pretty limited diet at the time. I went for the Green House Salad which may sound boring, but it was actually a very enjoyable serving of avocado, pumpkin seeds, pear, courgette and a delightfully tangy dressing. I had it with Sweet & Sour Greens (Pak Choi/Broccoli/Edamame Beans) to beef (lol) it up a bit. My friends shared some tapas-like dishes: they didn’t look entirely filling but were painfully expensive. I only asked for water to drink which was £5, ouch. We didn’t really feel like the target market. It’s one of those places people would describe as ‘Instagrammable’, with photo-opportunity props and a DJ blasting music even though it was a very early Saturday afternoon. Service started off attentive, but we were left waiting ages for the bill. Although I enjoyed my meal, I wouldn’t bother coming back.

Second time visiting foodwell as couple. Visited after received email for 50% off menu in the week. It was a new menu and the food did not disappoint. Favourite menu item is the halloumi popcorn which I was pleased to see had remained on the menu! The chicken sushi was also great! Loved the cocktails and the way they were presented. Even had the desert which was a bit of a mystery box but was very pleased when it came out and there was a selection of deserts. Will defiantly be returning again. Great atmosphere!

I don’t usually complain / haven’t left a review on a restaurant in ages. But avoid this joke at all costs. Bottomless Thursday. Don’t waste your money. We arrived on time and 2 of the party of 7 were already waiting inside. The security and the woman with the clipboard having a pure power trip made us wait outside for 10 mins for no reason as “it’s busy inside”. Finally the manager who had a brain cell came out and brought us in. They must have very sad lives. Face on like they would rather be anywhere else! Inside was a joke as well… 40 mins waiting for a pre booked table. Had to repeatedly ask for bottomless drinks which had been completely oversold so the two staff on couldn’t keep up. The food was shocking! But when that’s the least of the problems you know it should be avoided. And to finish off someone was sick all over the toilet floor and it was just left. Absolutely stank! Honestly don’t bother… would rather spend £40 to eat dust

This was potentially one of the least enjoyable, most stressful and very disappointing meal i have ever had. The service was horrendous before we even attended with poorly organised and rude staff who were incompetent in answering basic booking questions. When we arrived we had to wait for an hour and 20 minutes for our table as they had messed up the booking. During this time we were not given any apologies or compensation, most of the staff were in fact very rude. When we were finally shown to our table we had to ask several times to be served and the drinks took about 20 mins to arrive. It was meant to be bottomless drinks however we had about two glasses of proseco in this time. When the food arrived it was tasteless. Not all the food arrived either and we had about 3 bits of sushi each and were starving. In the end we had to leave early as it was such an unpleasant experience. Would not return even if they paid me!

Service absolutely terrible. 5 of the party were already there we when got there and the woman on the door made me wait 5 mins as she was saying there was already 6 in my party. Bottled water was tap water. 30 mins to take our order. Prawns didn’t come asked 3 different staff members eventually one came and said we’re out of prawns. All in all garbage! Avoid at all costs
