Been for a meal many times but price has increased recently. Still a great carvery and now do delicious Pizzas at the dedicated pizza bar. Great quiz night with Mike Prince on Sunday evenings, 8.30 start, book a table!

Went for a meal with girlfriend early today and now she is violently throwing and sick after having a carvery probably due to under cooked turkey…..very displeased would not recommend

Gorgeous carvery, best one in town. Knocks spots off the Tobys and the staff are much more legit. Get down for this scran. Absolutely highly recommended. Update: Breakfast is amazing here. Plenty on offer too. Cooked to perfection.

Just had a great meal at the red lion well worth the money. Staff were very attentive pleasant and extremely smiley will be definitely eating here again.

The only place I'll go for breakfast! Cheery staff first thing, always get a good morning and smile, belting breakfast! And to top it off as a parent with children who have additional needs our somewhat strange needs are always met without any issue, decor is very homely! There is always a cleaner plodding round topping up on the already immaculate job done before opening! 1000% will be back on a regular basis! Thankyou for a great experience!

Really good food staff very friendly from the min you walk in all ways greatest with a good morning or a smile makeing you feel welcome and value for money. Officially a regular!

Pretty grim. The whole pub needs a refurbishment - seats and carpets dirty, chipped paintwork and dirty toilets. The outside of the building looks awful with litter and dirty paintwork. Food was decidedly average. Ate there against my better judgement. Never again.

Horrible experience with cooking staff. Waiters/waitresses amazing, cooking staff arrogant. Clearly were backed up, but could've communicated this and managed expectations. Instead was told "it'll be just 10 minutes" several times. At the end it had been an extra hour and a half and I went.

Incredibly RUDE woman delivered a Sunday Carvery meal from here. Shouting and balling at me for an App code. Banging hard and loud on my door. I didn't buy the food through the app and not used to any delivery for food asking me for a code. I found it and she shoved the bag in front of my face to take out the food. When I mentioned that her customer service skills need some training, as she had a grumpy, angry look on her face, she muffled some abuse shouting down the path at me. She left the gate wide open. Rang The Red Lion to complain and they more or less washed their hands off it as they said the delivery is through a third party and they don't know where this courier is from. Not only that, the Manager said he thinks he knows who she is as he has had complaints about her before but they don't bother to find out where she is from & who she is so she can be reprimanded for her dire customer service, it is through Just Eat. I mentioned, this could harm their business as I would think twice about ordering food from here again. I don't expect to order a Sunday lunch and get that kind of bad service!!! The Red Lion should hold some responsibility for who delivers their food if it is chronic service. Not happy...

Girl taking our order at the bar wasnt really bothered and made it clear she wasnt. There was six of us and food 50% ok. Guy who collected plates after the meal was really nice joking with the kids.

Regular customer - Pizzas are great. Staff are very personable. The regulars are a great bunch. Never had a bad experience in the last couple of years since being a patron.

Called in Friday tea time, as I'm not well at the moment I asked for a small carvery. Was told no it was 5.20pm and they have stopped serving small carvery s , okay I asked for a child's portion carvery, was told No I have to be 12 and a half years of age or under. Only thing I could have was a large carvery. Simply not good enough, and they lost themselves a sale through that sort of attitude. It's a ludicrous rule, spoke to the Manager Andrew who said it was head office who made the rule. Well due to this we will never set foot in there again. Whilst we were there, we noticed how run down and disgusting it is the walls and even menus are filthy with old crusty food stick to them.

Cracking pint and the service is impeccable, a man named Andy really looked after us.

Was served by an employee named Andy very welcoming and friendly made my experience here very positive. Will be for sure returning to this restaurant because of this!

Dog friendly carvery and Stonehouse pieza

I’ve visited a few times for different reasons (lunch with work colleagues, Xmas meal and recently a birthday) there is never anyone waiting at the deck. The choice is hit and miss, the service definitely doesn’t come with a smile and the atmosphere isn’t great either.

All you can eat breakfast was nice, and the carvery was good too.

Started coming for the quiz a few weeks ago and been really good every week, lovely staff and great atmosphere around the place

Andy is always amazing. Staff are friendly, fab service whether it's drinks, food, or breakfast. Always a good selection and the pizzas are stunning!

Very poor 2 people on between the bar and serving food won't bother visiting again I'll walk further down the road towards Wardley shocking.

It was chaos. A lot more like a pub than a restaurant. Hardly any seating for dining even though we had a table booked. I had to wander around to look for staff to inform them of our booking. Carvery was luke warm. Not the best atmosphere. Won't be back.

Very tasty food and excellent staff. Children were very welcome and kept busy with colouring sheets provided. Good value will come again.

Held a work’s event here for 60+ people, ordering with Emma was really easy and Andy looked after us brilliantly on the day…

What can I say ,, so I've been coming here on and off for a while now, but tonights carvery was absolutely disgusting. Firstly all the food out was completely inedible, the roast potatoes were all bruised and I even asked a member of staff as to was there any chance of some fresh roast potatoes,, the lad just walk away and in the end I had to ask another member of staff as to seeing were he had gone . Finally he came back and another chap then walked in took the roast potatoes then 5 mins came back,, with the same potatoes and alls he had done with them was fry them and put them back out on the counter. Absolutely disgusting. Actually makes me think what on earth goes on in the kitchen if this is how your staff behave .appalling food and appalling service by your staff .

Hi, I thought I would give my family a treat for tea.We were all so disappointed in the food. My partner got one slice of small turkey,I got two very small pieces of pork and a piece of turkey. None of us could eat the cauliflower as it was rock hard. I ordered three chocolate fudge cake and one looked like it was spooned in the bowl and squashed. The meal was definitely not worth nearly £60.00.

Love this place. We have been multiple times with the family and the staff have always been really helpful and friendly. Food is lovely as well

Great for breakfast before you go out riding your bike.

Roast beef was chewy and full of gristle. Most was inedible. Not worth the money. I will go again but certainly won't have the beef

Came in the other day for a couple of drinks and a bite of food. The young lad behind the bar Matthew was the most polite manner person should be very pleased with him. Will definitely be returning

Both had Carvery on Sunday. Carrots rock hard, cauliflower cheese was too hard - I like it crunchy but it was undercooked! Had a pint of Pepsi & vodka, Pepsi max - mix wrong, way too syrupy! All in all we both found the whole experience was yuk! A total waste of £28+, it wasn't the money, it was the fact we were both still starving. We won't be going again anytime soon

Woke up came in for all you can eat breakfast and filled up my plate twice. I am now going back to bed. Food is so good and the staff can't do enough. Thanks Chris

The all you can eat breakfast is amazing from here especially the crispy bacon and the sausages they’re my favourite by far!

Food was fine however both my partner and child as well her family suffered food poisoning don't go there till they learn how to not cross contaminate.

The place was lovely the food was great but it was cold. Very cold . Thought I would give it another try. So went in again. BUT it was cold again.wont go in again

Went for a carvery today...beef fatty and tough, roast potatoes hard. This is a real shame as we have eaten there before. Also half way thru my meal the air con kicked in and it was like sitting in a force 10 gale. I asked 2 members of staff to turn it down but nothing changed, as I'd had to leave the table twice the rest of my meal was stone cold when I got back. Very disappointed it will be a while before I eat there again

Go here every Sunday night for the speed quiz always a good night and the carvery is really nice aswell

Came for a lunchtime carvery. The food was good , but the service was excellent. Chris was so welcoming and went out of his way to accommodate my fussy eating. I will definitely be back.

We came in as a family and ordered 2 pizzas, a garlic bread and a child's carvery. The staff seemed miserable and uninterested to start with but I can understand that knowing what wages they're on. Anyway, pizzas were good, I really have no complaints about them but all of the cheese and garlic butter was confined to a very small area in the centre of the garlic bread and the carvery was an absolute disgrace. The meat was fine but the rest of it looked like it had been there since yesterday. All dried up and crusty. Without doubt the worst, sorry looking carvery that I've ever had or even seen. Little choice, dried up, no cranberry sauce. The staff just don't seem to care. All it takes is a quick stir of the veg every now and again but it's obviously put out first thing then just left there and forgotten about. I felt bad that my daughter had to eat from that carvery. For desert the kids both wanted bottomless ice cream. But once again, in what seams to be a common occurance "the ice cream machine isn't working" Either you're selling bottomless ice cream. Or you're not. You're quite obviously only turning the machine on for an hour a day then saying its broke.. that's borderline false advertising. There's absolutely no way I'd ever get a carvery from a stonehouse ever again. Pizzas are good rest is horrendous.

I was overcharged for the meal and refunded the wrong amount I had a 25% off voucher, which I wasn't able to use, but it was taken off my account anyway. I won't be visiting again

Awful and dry food. Very limited choice of dried up vegetables and had to scrape the bottom of the pan for gravy. The wall next to my daughter had been smeared with bits of food and not cleaned. Everything felt dirty. A young lad filling the toppings for the ice cream was coughing into his hand and must have coughed something up. He looked around to see if anyone saw him and then proceeded to scoop the bits up off the counter IN TO HIS HAND and put in a plastic tub and place in a cupboard under the ice cream dispenser. My daughter and I left most of our food. We felt sick. Never ever again!

We visited here for some dinner for the first time. I am pregnant and ordered sausage and mash. The meat was cold which was concerning. Also my partner ordered a burger and found egg shell in it. We didn't order anything with egg. I think the decor is nice but the lampshades were dusty. They have a car park and the toilets were clean. The waitress was very nice and offered a refund. I think this place just needs to make sure food is piping hot before going out and to check plates and ensure regular cleaning checks. The starters were very nice though and tasted fresh. It has very good parts and improvements needed in others. x

Had a carvery breakfast today well its way better than Toby and 100x better than apple wood pine tree and barley farms fresher nicer hotter more choice better service nicer staff and no rips tears on seats floors and toilets spotless ill be back
