Awful and slow customer service. Greasy burnt and tasteless chips. The fish was ok though. Won’t be returning or recommending Poor

We have been customers here for 20 years + ! In the past 3 years portions have declined significantly. Today a large fish apparently is sold by weight and NOT large! The fish was put into the hot plate today, and for some reason the assistant picked up a fish for the customer before me, she clearly thought it wasn't good enough for him! Tossing back and giving a far superior one. So its my turn and this fish is good enough for me. Small in size and broken. She tells me it's fine and correct weight. My problem is don't list a product as large when it simply isn't. Thing is I'm willing to place my custom somewhere else and not be over charged again.

The shop looks very tired. Broken tiles. Marks on floor. When I arrived a lady was shouting from behind the counter to the back “can we have service”. Not a great impression … behind the counter didn’t look as clean as it could have been. After another person appeared behind the counter things started to move. I was asked for my order in advance as I wanted fish. I felt it was expensive and to be charged for a wooden fork shocking. I agree with other reviews. The outside tables were dirty so we took our food and ate on the beach as we had chairs with us. Would probably not return. Fish and chips were ok. Extremely greasy - dripping through the tray and paper.

Recently had fish and chips here what a let down. We have been coming here for years. Not sure if its changed hands. Fish was just ok chips dreadful burnt re heated alot of them green not great. 14 quid is fine if food is fresh this wasnt. End of an era.

Sure it's not the flashiest place going, but the queue waiting to be served told me all I needed to know, and was glad I went here. First of all hats off to the ladies serving, they were really friendly and smiley, and got the orders right despite there being loads of them. Then to the food, best fish I've had in a long time, really nice and creamy cod, with a crisp, but not hard batter and the chips were spot on as well. All helped by eating on New Brighton prom in the sunshine of course! Can't recommend enough. A+++++

This place has the best Chips I have ever tested, I was in double glazing 40 years so traveled around & got to know the best chippies. We drive from North Wales just for chips lol. Please don't change.

For years, during trips to New Brighton, I would visit with the family for fish and chips, but today left me profoundly disappointed. The chips were overdone, with several tasting burnt. The fish was awful, and the batter was soggy in some areas. The shop appeared worn, and the floor was in dire need of a thorough scrub, or so it appeared. None of the staff seemed content. It is with regret that I must award your establishment only 2 stars. I earnestly hope you heed this feedback and that of others and implement improvements for the future. Always go to this chippy but sorry this will be the last time it got worse as time goes by an the staff think they are doing you a favour so any1 reading this go somewhere else chips undercooked curry like treacle paid for large fish but small sorry but enough is enough

Absolute shame, this was a great chippy in its day. Ordered to small fish and chips, fish wasn’t much bigger than a fish finger, food wasn’t as nice as normal. Yes the place it tatty and dated but never reflexed on the quality of food. Remember when this was the place to go. Will not return.

A regular at this little chippy and food is consistently good. All made fresh to order so a few minutes wait. Nice staff too. Well worth a visit. A few tables outside and plenty of benches dotted around if you want to eat and sit and watch the world go by. Would recommend.

£9 for large fish and chips is a bit over the average but if it’s worth it all is good but it wasn’t! Chips were fair, the fish was tasty but very small (especially for £6.50). Warning bells should rang when I heard the server ask the fish fryer which fish were the large ones and which were the small, I couldn’t tell either! We travelled all the way from Chester just for this meal but I’ll probably leave it a while until a see a few good reviews again before I return. Sorry!

The Seacomble ferry terminal has re-opened after extensive renovation, we took the opportunity to take the ferry from Liverpool and walk to New Brighton. This was our first walk since the pandemic and we really looked forward to once again visiting the MS, oh dear what an utter dissapointment, the fish was tiny and looked as though it was from a frozen block, the chips were soggy in the extreme and inedible. Then the cost for two fish and one chips it was approx. £16.50. At any Wetherspoons you can get two fish and chips, a double gin and tonic and a pint of beer for £18.50. I hope they enjoy the cash we paid becouse it will never happen again!

We ordered two small fish and chips, a curry sauce and 2 cans for lunch. Fish was the perfect size, chips were delicious and plenty of salt and vinegar! Staff were a bit straight to the point more than friendly and one girl looked like she was a bit bored but food wise, can’t fault it. Served quickly and was still piping hot when we had walked to find a seat! Will definitely return when next at new Brighton!

Arrived at opening time and welcomed with open arms. Fish and chips was delicious would come again anytime.

Ordered large fish chips and peas, chips where disgusting, Fish ok, should of realised when in the shop as didn’t look clean. Not long after eating food my husband stomach went off and had pains and diarrhoea. Won’t be going her again.

Arrived today at 12.05 at opening time to get a fish and chips for my elderly mother and share as usual sitting nearby together. The warmed up last nights fish was … well last nights and the chips .. the peas were superb. Very disappointed this place is usually brilliant. I we’ve back in and told the fish fryer himself who denied it. Outside as we were talking was a couple enjoining perfectly fresh fish which he had made following my visit. I kick myself for leaving for a short time after placing the Order so did not see him prepare the fish for frying. No explanation or refund was offered. This cash only business will be shorter as the months go on. Neither I or my family will be back. We will see if they respond.

Excellent fish - large freshly cooked with crispy batter. Chips were cooked well and not greasy. Only slight let down is the fake overly green mushy peas. Delicious! Highly recommend.

Chip cone was undercooked and hard in the centre but burnt on the outside, couldn’t stomach the entire cone and orders were rushed through in a non efficient and time consuming system. Do not buy from this chip shop!

My wife and I visited New Brighton and really fancied some good fish and chips. We had been recommended to give Mediterranean Sea a try. We had the battered cod and chips, the fish being cooked fresh to order. It was a lovely day so we were happy to sit outside especially as our fears of marauding seagulls proved unfounded. Got to say that after too many poor quality disappointments these were the very best fish and chips we’ve enjoyed in many a day. The batter was cooked to perfection as was the fish and the chips were top top. Would have no hesitation returning here.

ate here a couple of times in the last few weeks. after the first let up of restrictions, due the virus, some friends and i took to popping over to N.B to walk the prom. as around tea time thought we'd also stay for a bite to eat, and came here.not the best looking chippy, but no complaints about the food. i had the classic fish, chips, and mushy peas each time. cooked to order, i found all the food very tasty. it is a little pricey compared to some chip shops, partic the fish, but they're good size fillets. i'd have no problems eating there again.re the staff, they were both helpful, and friendly on each visit. they monitored numbers going in. watched the queue outside, and due a hatch/window on the front were able to take orders from people both inside and outside the shop. this worked quite well, and meant that even if the queue seemed large, we were dealt with quite promptly and didn't have too long a wait. as i've said, would happily go again.

Went here for a works order of nearly £50, due to social distancing I said I would wait outside as queuing wasn't being controlled, so thought would be easier on staff pressure. Was met with an absolutely disgusting attitude by the older man behind counter who thought it was funny to try and make me look an idiot in front of whole queue, totally disrespected a young girl obviously to boost his non existent personality! Will not use again for my clients with severe disabilities, and certainly won't use for personal use ever again. Food isn't what it used to be anyway, totally disgusting staff & service!!

This has always been our favourite chippy & have often travelled the 50 minute journey for a fish & chip evening out. We were so disappointed with the greasy overcooked/ twice cooked chips, they were inedible. Thank heavens the fish was nice after all that anticipation.Has this place changed hands we wonder. I have never seen them scooping up the cooked chips from around the warming/ draining counter & put them back in the fryer before. I witnessed this a couple of times while I was waiting. Friendly service & good control for 2metre distancing rule.

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Cod is large, tasty, and cooked to perfection. The chips are lovely and great quality. Sit out and eat them on the prom. Not the cheapest chippy. But the price is right for the quality. Always revisit when we are in the area.

My Auntie is 79 years old and the two of us sneaked in here for a treat before going down the road to the theatre. Proper Fish & Chips. Sit in! No frills. Just a proper meal. Fantastic. Cooked fresh and quickly too.

Nice food and good portion size but a long wait for it to be cooked. It looks like a shop that is one bad week away from closure. No cold drinks choice (Pepsi only) in an almost empty glass display fridge. Nice food but I wouldn't go again, i'd find somewhere else nearby

Gorgeous fish and chips! A generous portion cooked fresh and served hot by lovely friendly staff. Ate outside and weren't dive bombed by seagulls which was a bonus. Highly recommend this place.

Eaten in the car after a cycle on the road-free cycle way, these just hit the spot. Generous portions, tasty fish (and batter, so many get that wrong) and tasty chips too. Not top marks because the young lass serving gave away ‘our’ 2 fishcakes that we’d ordered before we got to the counter. So we had to wait for another 2 to be cooked.

Lovely good size fish freshly cooked - unfortunately the same can't be said about the chips which looked and tasted like they had been re-heated more than once. They were crispy overcooked and black in some cases. Most of the chips ended up in the bin. Not worth the £7.50 price. The place has tables giving the appearance of being able to sit in or takeaway. However if you sit in there is no table service, no condiments on the tables and you are given your meal on a tray and in paper with plastic fork the same as if you are taking away. Coffee was in a paper cup and can of pepsi served with no glass or even straw. They call you when your meal is ready they can't even be bothered to bring it the table even though it was very quiet. The place is in need of a refurb with part tiles missing off the wall and dirty marks on walls / radiator.Also seat ripped at 1 of the tables.Not a good experience and will definitely not be returning.

It's lovely to sit and watch the world go by. You are overlooking the lighthouse and fort. The food is very tasty and the batter is crisp and not greasy. The price of the food is very reasonable. A very clean place with nice staff.

Staff we're very pleasant and chatty and the place wasn't too busy. Had to wait 10 mins for a fresh fish which was a good size , although batter was too thick and a bit under-cooked on the inside. Chips we're well below standard and looked like they'd been in and out of the fryer a couple of times and very bitty. For seven and a half quid it should have been better. Place could also do with a refurb and a good scrub. Think i'll take a packed lunch on my next visit to New Brighton !

Given the number of good reviews for this place perhaps we were unlucky. Our experience was poor.

Consistently great, serves the largest portion of really fresh tasting cod. The chips are great tasting as are the mushy peas and proper and savoury (not sweet) chip shop curry. The best on the Wirral and beats most in Liverpool. I come from a chippy background and certainly rate them highly!

Friendly staff, fish and chips are really fresh and generous portions. Definitely good value for money. Always busy which is a good sign.

Waited about 15 mins whilst the girl serving spoke to her friend in a foreign language. Once the fish were ready, she gave her friend 2 fresh ones and tried to give me a fish that had been stood at least 15 mins in grease! The girl behind got steak pie and chips, the pies were reheated in the microwave and her meals looked dried up. I think this place has been taken over, considering it has a seating area it was exceptionally cold. The staff are rude and abrupt, shame really as used to enjoy going here but will not be revisiting!

wow, amazing fish and chips, and portions are so big you can easily share, the staff are so helpful and friendly, ask for fish and chips separate on separate trays if you want to share, they will accommodate, the quality is superb, there is seating inside and outside, if there is queue, stick with it, as they have lots of staff and will serve very soon

Best fish and chips in New Brighton , don't try anywhere else , they are the best , shame it is not bigger inside ,because it would make a great seaside café ,staff are friendly , Grandchildren love having their lunch there on a sunny summers day , and it is good value , the portions sizes are huge ,they are that good it is worth sitting in you car with windows open to eat in the winter

While staying at New Brighton in Wallasey in our motorhome for the second time this year we decided to not cook and I was duly sent to this fast food takeaway to hopefullly buy fish and chips.On arrival The queue was long which to me is a sure sign I had come to the right plaice (pun intended).As I queued and got nearer to place my order I could see average sized fish in the display being Cod (limited choice only Cod on menu).But when I actually got to the serving counter by then due to the queue they had to fry some more fish as I ordered Fish and chips twice.It was worth the wait and the price to me was reasonable and the staff were friendly.On arrival back at our motorhome my wife was pleased when she opened the packaging (paper etc) to find two massive pieces of fish and healthy chips to accompany the lovley fish.We had a lovley meal and were full to the brim as we finished.We would recommend to anyone and will definately return to this shop when back in New Brighton early in the new year...

Been here three times in the past month. Some of the very best fish and chips available in the area. Fish is freshly cooked and portion size is more than adequate. This is an excellent chippy and well worthy of five stars! Recommended

Walking past you get that smell of fish and chips so we had to partake in some. The queue was long due to it being a sunny day so it was quite hot inside but well worth it when we sat down to taste them.

They told me I couldn't come in because I had an assistance dog with me and belittled me when I tried to resolve the issue with them at a later date. The place is grubby and disgusting, the floor is sticky and the tables are worse. Everything is greasy and they are braking multiple laws.

Can’t really say much about this place but, Really Good Size Juicy Fish and Fantastic Chips, Nice Mushy Peas, Excellent Curry sauce... Great Price... Big Portions all round. You won’t go hungry.

come over from Aintree with my seven year old grandson and parked at seacome ferry... peddled to leasowe and stopped here for tucker on way back ... fish an chip's my favourite grub, but being in my sixtys got to limit my intake due to indigestion... anyway had cod and chip's and grandson had nuggets and chip's.. huge portions and delicious.. and no indigestion... was no sign of any grease whatsoever yippee.. ps many chippys use panga ( farmed catfish ) as it's much cheaper than cod.. haddock..plaice.. this only has the real McCoy

as you would expect there is quite a few fish and chip places in New Brighton, however the Mediterranead Sea is by the far the best, really lovely fish and chips, lots of staff so you don't queue much, and nice and friendly, proper service with a smile, nice seating area outside to enjoy the hot weather, prices are reasonable too and portions are good, you can easily share the chips,

My wife and I drive to this chip shop whenever we feel we deserve a treat. The fish is always huge, lightly battered and cooked perfectly and the chips, peas etc are wonderful. The queues, whenever it's open, tell a story and on a Friday teatime they're lining up outside the shop because it's so full!

Been here a few times first couple of times was ok, lately the place smells of over used cooking oil, fish was ok first couple of visits however the last time the fish tasted awful never ate it the chips were a little undercooked , won t rush back

If you visits new brighton you have to visit the Mediterranean Sea and grab yourself the best fish and chips on the Wirral you get great value for your money and a massive piece of cod and so crispy you will never go anywhere else ;

Excellent quality - fish always cooked to order, chips well cooked and not too greasy - family favourite.

Visited for light lunch very pleased with menu also quality of food, the interior was quirky but comfortable, seemed a good meeting place for all ages and young mums with babies.

We went for fish and chips and sat outside at the benches and tables, though there were also chairs.

Been here 4 times this year and each time we say it's going worse, if it's not undercooked chips it's tasteless frozen fish and at £4.50 a fish and £1.80 for chips it should be fresh Cod or Haddock and chips should be cooked to perfection. It's a great shame as it used to be good and in an excellent location, so much that the shabbyness of the place never bothered me as I knew the food was good. I don't see why when people are prepared to pay good prices you need to give them low quality food. I will probably try this place again in the future as I genuinely like going there with the family but will give it chance to get better first.

We have used this fish and chip for over 20 years, we even went for my husbands 50th birthday Which was excellent. But now i think we will have to stop. We have been 3 times since his birthday in December and each time been disappointed with today's fish being dropped, broken and still sold to us. The prices have gone up recently without warning and the portions are a lot smaller. One of the staff actually looks like she doesn't want to be there and didn't even bag it up as in every previous visit. the place overall looks like it could do with a bit of a wipe! After 20 years of our regular custom which we travel a 18 mile round trip for, we won't be going back. I'm sorry to say this but it's just not the same anymore. I'll be going harry ramsdens over the road next time. My advice would be have a word with your staff mate and stop serving Chips with so many eyes that your tea is watching you eat it. Peel your spuds better! Sorry but you're going down hill fast. We visited for tea at 5pm on Monday 11th Feb 2017. Just so you know which 'staff' where in. Never ever been so disappointed. Tonight was your 3rd time lucky. I will be passing the word on. Sorry.
