Went for brunch and came out feeling very annoyed! Ordered our food at the counter and paid thinking that is expensive, got back to the table and checked and it was £6 more expensive than on the menu! Asked for a receipt at the end to check and they’d put on a service charge before we’d had any food/service and the coffee’s were more expensive than advertised on the menu! Wouldn’t have minded but my eggs Benedict were overdone and the muffin was dry/hard! Had to go find my own salt/pepper and no one came over to see how the food was! Ideally would have like a refund on the service charge and one of the meals as it was awful but staff didn’t care so just left! Shame as it used to be nice here but would not recommend now!

First time we went it was the one in Didsbury, everything was absolutely lovely and the young lady that looked after us was on her own so the service was slow but she made up for that with how friendly, helpful and sweet she was, it was a wonderful experience. We went to the one in Ancoats today and the selection was the same aside from some awful sandwiches, no jam for the scones and the staff? Well, they were awful. Rude, cold, unfriendly and unhelpful. They almost seemed to grimace at the site of us and just seemed to hate everything. Stoney faced and made us very uncomfortable! NEVER, ever again!!! It will only ever be Didsbury that we visit from now on!

Having read some previous negative reviews I was somewhat nervous about our visit but I need not have worried - the whole visit was delightful. The food was delicious. Fresh sandwiches and wraps were followed by warm scones cream & jam, sweet cakes, macaroons and chocolates. Accompanying this were unlimited hot drinks and a glass of Prosecco. Wonderful value for money and served by charming and efficient staff.

I’d already been to the branch in Ancoats, so I knew what to expect: sweet paradise! There’s slightly less choice here, but still a decent selection of sinful slices 😈 Right on brand, I went for the Super Slutty Brownie (Cookie, Oreos, Cornflake Caramel Topping).

Went in on the off chance and it was packed! Clearly very popular, we would book a table next time. We sat outside between showers, very well greeted by the girls and we were very impressed by the choice of cakes. I had coffee and my partner had a milkshake, both were excellent. We both had cake to take away and WOW probably the best cake I've ever had. I chose the raspberry cheesecake cake and my partner had the kinder Bueno brownie. We both loved them. I will definitely return, but next time I think I would book their afternoon tea, it looked awesome

Just left the didsbury shop as a belated Mother’s Day treat , £100 for 4 of us , I can honestly say we have never been so disappointed with an afternoon tea we didn’t even eat a quarter of it , it was poor quality & scruffy interior, absolutely nothing like the Instagram page!! Never again !!!

Disappointing, it used to be a lot better! The coffee was watery, milkshake mediocre, service poor (kept bringing other tables drinks over to us) and food not worth the price. The breakfast was bland, bread was stale with no butter on (or provided) and waffles were not tasty! As said above, it used to be so much better! We won’t be returning based off this visit!

My mum treated me to afternoon tea. Arrived, saw the reservation on the table and weren’t greeted so sat down. Then had to get up to ask one of the staff if we could have some drinks as we had afternoon tea booked. Brought a pot of tea over. Lots of people walking in for take away drinks which took precedent. Then the food, zero for presentation or taste, bread was stale too. The place itself had no atmosphere and was freezing cold, so the lovely outfit I was wearing stayed under my coat, wore it the whole time. Following the afternoon tea, we had to get up and ask for more tea. Weren’t asked if anything was okay, nor about our dietary requirements. Won’t visit here again, which is a shame as I like to support local businesses, but I can’t abide that price for the lack of decent food and service. Personally, I don’t think you should offer afternoon tea, unless there is some effort made, it’s a very expensive couple of sandwiches and cakes, and in this instance did disappoint.

Had been really looking forward to trying Cocoa Cabana having read some reviews and articles online. However was very disappointing. Arrived and the table we had reserved was dirty the person working on the tills did clear and wipe the table however still had marks. Tables appeared to be covered however were cracked. Drinks - milkshake warm and tasteless Frappe mocha tasted like watery milk again not cold. Hot chocolate was tasty Food- absolutely swimming in balsamic vinegar and ciabatta very hard. Brownies - we both love brownie and is the go to however we could not eat was hard and dry we had ordered the “slurry brownie and a raspberry one. I have came away really disappointed after looking forward to a Friday treat all week. Unable to raise issue as place very busy and staff busy. However would not return. Waste of £40. The only enjoyable item was the hot chocolate.

Enjoyed afternoon tea for two recently. Dietary requirements had been taken into account from the notes on our online order, and the food was explained to us - this wasn't as described on the website, assume the menu is out of date or just an example. Sandwiches were fine, nothing fancy as such. Nice range of small cakes and chocolates. The afternoon tea includes unlimited hot drinks. The cafe is smaller than we expected, colour scheme is nice but it looks a bit tired. The cakes on the counter looked great, but as others have mentioned are left uncovered. The young ladies serving were pleasant and smiley. We couldn't eat everything and they gave us takeaway boxes. A pleasant afternoon, glad we tried it, but it wouldn't be in our top ten of Manchester afternoon teas.

Unfortunately not the best first experience. Coffee was served Luke warm, however did taste delicious, the cafe was in a mess when we arrived possibly due to a shortage of staff which is understandable. The worst part of all was how slow the service was. There was only one table who had ordered before us,to be fair it was a table of 5, however a 35 minute for 2 pancake stacks was poor and we hadn’t been made aware of any delay on service prior to ordering. Seemed like it isn’t tan very professionally, staff friendly but seemed a little clueless at times. The pancakes themselves were delicious so props to the chefs for bumping up the star rating which would have been lower if based only on service.

Informed toilets were broken, the person I can only assume was the manager shrugged her shoulders and said to just use the met. Had to ask the staff at the met politely to use their facilities. Tad tricky with kids also quite rudely dealt with by the manager of the cafe. Clearly there was a business meeting by the manager, on the table next to us, which was really off-putting as a customer. Given the above the focus on this cafe sadly isn't customers. Please just have your business meetings elsewhere not the table next to your customer. Cake was OK, but dry. Hot chocolates were brilliant. Mugs were great for adults. Terrible for kids. Didn't cool down to a temperature they could drink. Overall, on the more expensive side so would expect better experience. Would avoid with young families. Much better and kinder cafes in Withington/Heatons.

I should have left when I saw a nearly empty cafe full of unhappy punters sitting with empty tables in front of them. The staff were mostly huddled in the kitchen, out of sight, avoiding customers. One clueless new staff member was taking ages to put a few chocolates into a box, with frequent trips to the kitchen to find out what to do. I literally grabbed another staff member to try to buy two slices of cake. He informed he didn’t like cake (so why work in a cake shop?!!!) and sold me two small slices of overpriced cake to takeaway. When I tied the cakes an hour later at home, I found a hard, inedible end of the marble cake and a slice of sickly sweet and stodgy chocolate cake, full of stale Oreo’s. Unpleasant. I phoned to ask for a refund and was told the manager would call back. I also emailed to ask for a refund. No one has responded. These are shameless rip off merchants. Avoid!

Both drinks I ordered were overcharged. They say that they’ve raised their prices since they last printed their menu, but there is no sign warning of this and they won’t adjust it once you point it out. I also found the rose hot chocolate to be undrinkable - the flavouring was far too strong. In short, I’m afraid I felt as though they were trying to cheat me and was left very unhappy. I’ve given two stars rather than one because the location was nice and my friend enjoyed her drink (Nutella hot chocolate), but I won’t be going back.

I bought this deal from Wowcher and I've always had great value for money especially with the Afternoon Teas. Here though, I had to share the food rather than us both having one of each which I found extremely disappointing. I've NEVER had to do that before. I also phoned a few days early and requested a plain scone and when it didn't arrive, I asked for it only to be told that due to a new member of staff (the baker) he hadn't done it? I wasn't given a replacement? I also had to ask for the prosecco. I had high hopes for this place but felt extremely let down. I, unfortunately, will not be returning.

The website and Facebook page makes this venue look extremely nice and high end and we looked forward to our “chocolate afternoon tea”. The staff were friendly and attentive and the milkshakes and frappes were great but the actual afternoon tea was overpriced for what was served. There is a counter full of delicious amazing cake and goodies, yet the cakes supplied with the afternoon tea were disappointing. At £25 per person I felt that it was overpriced and it unfortunately didn’t quite live up to what we had hoped from looking at the website and menu.

I am very lucky to be able to call this place my local afternoon tea chocolatier, which I have sampled many times with my sisters!! It’s just fantastic, excellent quality brownies, strawberries dipped in chocolate, macaroons, scones with the trimmings and much more. No wonder we keeping returning. The savouries are equally as good and they cater for veggies / vegans quite effortlessly too. Refillable drinks are a good way to try the different hot drinks from fruit teas to full on hot chocolates, coffees and teas. The venue itself has a quirky feel to it, like most of the places on the infamous Burton Rd in West Didsbury. There’s limited outdoor seating too, and possibly wifi if you need to work. Great relaxing atmosphere with like minded people. I love browsing the shop afterwards, great present options that feel luxurious and well presented. Highly recommend at the risk of it becoming too popular!! They have another outlet in Ancoats now, which shows their popularity, game and ambition but hopefully not at the cost of Burton Rd!!

Myself and two friends visited today for afternoon tea. We’d seen pictures on Instagram and were really looking forward to the visit. We’d booked a table over a week ago and it took over 20 minutes to even get attention for a drinks order. Two of the sandwich choices on the afternoon tea were stale. We were told one of the choices was hummus and salad but it was just buttered bread with leaves? We left most of the sandwiches and politely brought the issue with them forward to a staff member but this wasn’t acknowledged. Definitely not worth £25 and definitely would not return.

Went for the Christmas afternoon tea with prosecco. The sandwiches were really good and they offered a replacement for an allergy without any fuss. The scones are light and fluffy; having clotted cream and salted caramel worked really well. The chocolate bar was delicious as...

We had the opportunity to visit this hidden treasure on a cold Saturday afternoon - the perfect antidote to a frosty day! The white chocolate and tonka bean hot chocolate was amazing and the service was excellent. There is no doubt that we will be...

We had heard rave reviews about this place and the chocolate afternoon tea, so we decided to book. The food was nice, I enjoyed the sandwiches, but you don't get a lot of food and cake for the price. 1 scone each, 2 small cakes...

looking at guide prices for wedding cakes, we found that all the major players and fairly formulaic and generic cakes were in the region of £400-500 and some at the price wouldn't serve the 180 people we needed it to cater for. so i decided...

After booking online my auntie and I went along only to find out that we'd been double booked. The girl on the counter wasn't even apologetic and didn't even seem phased that we couldn't have our afternoon tea there even after me saying we had...

Wonderful little place, me and my sister popped in hoping there would be a seat (it is small so this is often not the case) and we were in luck. We both had the salted caramel hot chocolate, and wow seriously it was great. Not...

A superb city centre boozer with 8 cask, 2 keg ales on in regular rotation - including the excellent Plum Porter by Titanic Brewery The friendly staff don't mind you spilling out on to the street on a Saturday night, mixing with office types and students Wooden panelling and traditional pub decor complete the experience. One of the best pubs in the city center of Manchester

We were staying in Manchester to visit a great-niece and her boyfriend and had a spare evening. We had decided against eating in our posh hotel, because the “B-team” was running the bar and they had put us off, badly. What a different world when we entered Don Giovanni’s on Oxford Street (Manchester 1). An immediate and friendly welcome, with the cheery and involved banter continuing throughout our evening. No, this was not intrusive, Zehra was intuitive enough to know how to treat each table. This was back in April and so I can not now recall either the wins of the courses, but we’ll be back. What a joy. - thank you Zehra and co.

Our family of 5 stayed in YHA for an overnight stopover from Cornwall. Excellent cafe available from early breakfast till late dinner. Loved that it has vegan options for my daughter. Prices are reasonable too.
